- Im not expert, but Ive gotten much better at caulking since employing some simple methods I lay out in this video. this really comes into play for exterior caulking using a quad or silicone caulk for exterior door and window installs. hope this helps thanks guys
Great video. Making it easy for everyone 👍🏻
Thanks man. Hopefully it helps some peeps to be more confident in their caulking.
Great Vid. This is the best video I’ve found!
Knew I was in the right place when the chin-up bar hanging on the door frame
Awesome tip but you need to explain things like slicks. What are they made of? Can I buy them or do I have to make them? How do I get rid of the ridge that the slick makes. Things like that. That dishsoap thing is golden too. Thank you for sharing your trade secrets. Going to try them out right now in fact.👍
Believe it or not Caulking is my jam!!! 😂
Great work with the tooling, when I did the gaps around my windows (uPVC to brickwork with Dow 796) I couldn't find any suitable tool so resorted to using finger and dishsoap.
The only thing i would add, although I'm no expert, probably best to wipe surfaces clean before applying sealant, first with detergent like dish soap, rinse and then wipe over with IPA and allow to dry; bits of dirt behind the caulk are sure to cause adhesion degradation.
It’s absolutely unacceptable and wet tooling will get you fired from a real job
The exterior caulk is actually “self-tooling” and is not to be tooled after being applied. If the bead isn’t making the proper seal then you did not apply it proper and yes it can be pressed to make the seal work in a worst case scenario but you want to avoid that kind of thing especially from a production standpoint. If you learn to run your gun proper and with a little practice you can get pretty quick at laying a perfectly sealed beautiful caulk bead! And windex with ammonia on your finger is your friend if u do have that pesky little spot you need to press in place..I feel like a good teacher that knows this technique is sometimes key..speaking of..it would be great to make a real video about the “right” method for exterior caulking to be able to direct people to if they really aspire to be a window/door contractor.
It's Big Chungus!
Hey dude. You do good tips.
Wow. I did a shitty chalk job today. It was too much.
You covered the weeps in the window.A major problem
I can still see them.
@@steveedwards6753 6:24 you can see that the one on the right is 3/4 of the way covered.
And the one on the left is partially covered too.
Hello Friend! I live in Russia and do this business on a professional basis, I polish wooden houses, paint them as an artist and make a canapatka and sealingor exterior caulking etc.I want to move to another shit I am looking for a political shelter? I can find myself and how much I can earn !! Thank you very much for your answer!!!
Pro Tip; If you're going to make UA-cam videos, get a microphone
I didn't have any problem hearing him. He didn't have any music playing in the background like a lot of videos which is usually distracting.
You'll be there all damn day tooling it like that. Shame on you for trying to teach people this technique.
Sucks
Then make a video yourself & show us how it’s done. Tag me in it
