In this case that driver was having a really bad day, thankfully he was lucky and made it out without killing somebody, or as you said, one foot one way or the other and he'd have hit the bridge. Some Tow operators I've had the displeasure of dealing with over the years, wouldn't have been as professional and kind to the driver. These are the skills that make a person succeed in life and in business as well as UA-cam! Have a great one!
that shift into high range reverse hurt my soul lol. Any time i've used it, I would just start out in high on the reverse and delicately slip the clutch to get it moving as apposed to essential going from the equivalent of 1st gear to 4th. But in the end what ever gets the job done. Makes me glad we have high range reverse though. Makes doing freeway construction jobs so much easier when you have to reverse several miles down an interstate.
Great job Ron. My dad was a trucker and u 2 would have git along real well. He lived the lord too. I miss him greatly. Past away 4 yrs ago and just watching people like u do ur best in this and the way u are so respectful to others. U remind me if my dad lots.

I was so glad to see you pull the bumper outta the way with the winch. That's the first thing I said when I saw it under there. I've ripped a few bumpers off with my winch so that it freed up the steering on some and just got them out of the way on others.
Years back I rode with my uncle, coming back to north Illinois, he fell asleep at the wheel. I didn't notice it at first, he never crossed the center line or hit anyone. Then he woke up and he pulled in for fuel. He took a short nap then back out we went. We both were very lucky
The other day as I was going to a doctor's appointment. I saw a fancy sport car turn in front of a cement truck. The car ran up a tree and the truck got control and stopped about 2 ft from a house after he ran over several shrubs and small trees. My first thought was how you not giving yourself and your employees enough room to get in and out of the truck and getting your equipment on the driver's side. Those cars and semis are flying when passing you. If its a two lane shut down one of the lanes at least. I've seen so many accidents because drivers don't give right of way or don't care and end of crashing into someone. I know you are the professional and the police want the road opened up as quick as possible, but they need to make sure that you are safe too. Thanks for the videotapes. I marvel at your knowledge, politeness, and kindness.

I live in ohio now but i lived in Missouri for 12 yrs , people think the highway is a freakin racetrack , no respect for construction or safety workers at all !!!!!
In Australia most states have compulsory speed limits where red and blues are flashing of 40km/h (25mph), huge fines for non-compliance. In South Australia it is 25km/h (15mph).

I don’t think it’s ever safe working on the side of the highway but this was particularly dangerous. Smart idea using the cable to pull the bumper out from underneath the truck I was wondering if you were going to have to cut it or what.

Going from low range to high range in the same gear (reverse, in this case) there's no way to avoid grinding the gears . The difference between the gears is greater than the width of the powerband of the engine.

@@chris76-01 fair point. I do plan on getting into the recovery side of the industry so itd be helpfup
@@chris76-01 He may have explorer scout program or whatever they call it these days. Where 15-20 year olds in about the 9th-12 grades get to meet with fellow interested teens at whatever business that hosts the group. This lets them explore a field before committing to it with schooling. You can find out a lot about what you like and don't like and some jobs that seem cool aren't worth the paycheck and others that pay less give a sense of sanctification or have cool perks(like every day is like going to the gym and your get paid for ""working out"") . It less formal than apprenticeship but you also make connections and get training and advice. Someone will drop anecdotes with advice that you would never learn in class room that will make your career easier.
My husband and I watch you all the time. Your so respectable and so good to your employees. We ever come down that way we love to meet you
Brother...The officer telling you to call him by his first name after you called him Sgt. when asking where there driver was is so awesome. Shows the respect between you and the agencies you work with.
Ron you are the consummate professional! In your work ethic and the way you treat everyone!! Great Job Sir . Stay safe !
GOD Bless you Ron! We know you do the best you can and the videos are secondary to running your business. I am sure i am not alone in appreciating what you do. -Ron
That was some rescue Ron, with all the other dangerous recovery I’ve seen you do. somehow I feel this was one most dangerous, having to go down the wrong way down the motorway.
12:20 - I bought a set of those ratcheting straps after seeing them on one of your vids - THANKS! They're GREAT!
I have the same set of straps. Use them all the time.
Ron I got to tell you I was really scared for you on this call. so much so I had tears running down my cheeks so glad you made it off & back safe. TAKE CARE I know you are always.
That was a hectic pull. So many things could have gone wrong and made a bad situation infinitely worse.
Good job, Ron.
Ron, another fantastic job Sir....always the utmost professionalism and courtesy to the customer and whatever agency you're working with.
I guess you could never ever see it all in your line of work. That was a great job. You are a true professional
If my directions are correct, you were facing NB in the SB lanes. I saw the mm post 115. So you had a good lil trip back up to the 118 exit. Man that would have been scary going against the flow of traffic like that.. bless you sir and MSHP for the assistance guiding you safely back.
That was nicely saved rig. Potty mouth is lucky He didn't loose his load. Nicely orchestrated. Thanks Bud fer taking us along. God Bless !!!.
That Driver is Really Lucky he didn’t Flip Over with the Load of Steel going Off-Road. 🙏 👍
It being so low on the trailer is what did it. Had that been a van loaded with the same weight, it would've laid over no doubt.
I've said it before, your driving skills are most impressive!! You could push a rope across a hockey rink, under a Zamboni, out the gate and across the parking lot!! Thanks for being out there!! LTS
Ron,I was surprised at the speed of the traffic going past while hooking up. Even with the troopers in front of you. Maybe camera angle but they were moving. Keep safe.
Yes they were going quick. Some places dont have a reduce speed around EMS crews sadly
@@southaussiegarbo2054 MO does, but people are idiots.
Straight line backing in HI Reverse. Rons a trucking GOD now!
Awesome job once again Ron! Keep up the great work! Your channel played a factor in us deciding to pull the trigger on a rotator! 👍🏻😎
Ron, your skills in driving and recovering rigs is just awe inspiring! You drive the truck better than most here in Scotland 🏴can drive a car forward 😂
Stay safe and take care
Regards and best wishes to all at Midwest Truck
Calum
Sadly Calum, that's *so* true.
Ron, your priorities are in the correct order. Personal safety is above making a video for us. Thank you for not talking when you were really busy. 😉 Love the video's
Each time I watch, I enjoy watching. The team work between you and Officers. I love team work, it's safer not just 1, for all. I even like truck key ring. You be safe yourself and God bless you.
High speed reverse, I LOVE it! I drive dump truck for a company that does asphalt paving. There are times when we back up 2 miles on the freeway, or other roads in high speed reverse.
That driver certainly did have an unseen passenger riding with him this day!
Ron,
I compare you and your checklist to an airline pilot's checklist. You are just as well trained as they are.
Ron your truck is beautiful and your work is integral I have the biggest respect for you and what you do for people in need and clearing the way for everyone else I have been binge watching your videos while I’m in hospital and I love your content. 👍👍👍 God Bless and I hope you have an incredible day.
Amazed at how light traffic was on the lane of the Interstate you were on! I am not sure I would have wanted to follow a trooper WRONG WAY on the Interstate - at least the Interstates I drive on.
I’m the words best backwards driver is all I can think about seeing mater on the dash in this video
I’ve searched the internet for those kind of self contained ratchet straps. To my surprise I found the exact same model in my local hardware store here in Sweden. They are excellent.
If someone in the Netherlands is wondering, Hornbach has them as well. Don't know if it's the exact same brand, but they work great.
Unless for some strange reason somebody closed those trailer brake valves, it seems like he had no trailer brakes. Explains why he ended up going so far before coming to a stop.
He has what we call California hook ups witch is on the back of the truck an under the trailer instead of on the front of the trailer
@@johnwarren-649 Yep. He has that because of the length, he regularly hauls overhanging loads on the front, that would run the risk of tangling and damaging the hoses to the trailer. I've got them on My Stepdeck and my Reefer as well, but One is for function, one isn't.
Only way that would happen is if the brakes are caged. If valves are closed, it applies the brakes.
I don’t think it’s ever safe working on the side of the highway but this was particularly dangerous. Smart idea using the cable to pull the bumper out from underneath the truck I was wondering if you were going to have to cut it or what.
Great work Ron and crew as always from Ontario 🇨🇦. Stay safe.
BC is better. :p
From Minot North Dakota. Thanks for the video. I enjoy watching all. And sometimes I rewatch. Your awesome. Thanks for letting me ride along.
Omg, I have never seen this but apparently Ron's 1st set of back wheels actually turn also with the front wheels. That is so cool.
I was impressed how you drove backwards in high speed reverse. You’ve amazed me with your driving skills over the years
God is always with ron he is a very blessed men god bless him.his family anf all his employees.
Ron i watched you over a year your work and your respect is one of a kind yep i work on heavy equipment not easy be means so slow down have help, you care about the people you help
Ron, you are the ultimate professional.
How complicated for you ,Sir! Thank you for showing this. The average driver has NO IDEA!
That officer giving you the escort is a real pro. Did a great job of blocking for you.
Ron, I know you have experience with heavy trucks. Did you ever drive truck short haul or OTR? I can tell you have practice in backing distances as you do so straight and evenly. Plowing snow on curvy mountain logging road is what gave me miles of practice. Don't regret the practice as it has proven beneficial many times in the years since.
Probably the earliest I’ve been to watch! Was quite interesting to see you working with the police driving down the wrong way ... both ways!
@Ron Pratt Mater would be proud of your backup maneuver!!!
sorry RON can't help you; but I with you. Best wish for all to go safely.
At 10:55 for the first time I noticed the third set of rear tires are free to move right or left. And yes, I have seen absolutely EVERY ONE of the videos.
I don't think I've ever seen them off-center before either; just when you think you have that truck figured out...
You da world's best backwards driver! Hey Ron, try out the "Tub o Towels" wipes for those greasy arms after a job like that. They work magic! Another UA-camr recommended them so I gave them a try. In seconds you'll look like you went home and had a shower. Love em!
I love those things, and they smell great too
You work hard Ron. Thanks for sharing with us all.
you got to actually be tow-mater this time! the worlds best backwards driver!
Ron arrives at a difficult job working by himself...and after bout 20 minutes he says it's taking longer than it should lol. What a pro.
I think we need to nick name you "back up Ron. ". You do such a good job. Love your videos.
That's a long way to drive the wrong way down the interstate. Very nice job by Ron & Missouri police.
Ron I can honestly say working for the highway department running the attenuator backing the wrong way down the interstate picking up a lane closure while traffic is still doing 65+ is a very unique wierd and nerve wracking endeavour's you'll never wanna do
16:38 Love the fact you have added rubber pull handles to wood blocks. Now that is person who makes the most out of their tools. Wood Blocks the greatest tool secrete all power tool companies don't want you to know about.....
First off....Great job, that was a heck of a lot of work, And for an old lady (that I am) very intense when having to watch you go backwards, I drive a minivan and don’t like having to back out of the driveway, let alone something that size. What ever happened that made that driver mess up like that, I was glad there were no humans lol hurt.
Glad nobody was hurt always enjoy your video have a great weekend
Just like Mater - world's greatest backwards driver!
Man. Crazy how it feels like yesterday that truck was brand new, all that shiny paint untouched. She’s finally got some battle scars haha.
Hey Ron pratt hope you have a safe and happy Friday praying for you and God bless
u guys do a great job,, dont worry about the light bar, just get off interstate safe then do the light bar
Very surprised Ron went solo on this tow. Hard work for one person.
04:26 as soon as you moved over the car wanted to go past you. The officer did an instant "no you dont" move. Thumbs up to that.
As you were scraping gears going from low to high reverse, I could actually hear Tator saying "OUCH! I'll be ok Ron, they're gonna start making rubber gears next year" lol! As always, be safe out there and God bless you, your crew AND your equipment!
Ron another good save. The Lord was there that day. I've been missing your vids. We keep our prayers going out for you and the souls you protect, Day by day.
Thank you Ron for the Video I'm glad no one was hurt 🙏
First time that I ever heard you grind a gear! Happens to the best!😀
if u cant find em grind em
and if it wont fit give it a hit lol
Going from low range to high range in the same gear (reverse, in this case) there's no way to avoid grinding the gears . The difference between the gears is greater than the width of the powerband of the engine.
Angels working overtime GOD BLESS y’all and keep everyone safe May your business continue to prosper in these days we’re in 👍✌️❤️
He definitely had a Co Passenger (Guardian Angel)! So glad he was ok and he must have handled it with experience and that saved him along with his Guardian Angel.
Nice work from the officers. I have to say in your area those officers know a lot more about safety than most do down here in Florida. I just wish they all would get the same kind of training and a lot longer training than what we do have right now. At least 2year of training. Again Highway is different from City and on top all this domestic stuff makes things even a lot harder for officers.
I just love to see more of those officers you got around your area Ron. They are very professional and keep up the good work Ron.
