- Mike and I working together with the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), NBC Fire, and Scott City Fire to clear a three car crash from the interstate after the first snowstorm of the season hits. We used the Peterbilt 337 with Miller Industries Century LCG12 unit #15 and the Ford F650 with LCG10 to work the wreck. There were a few close-calls, but no injuries. Please SLOW DOWN & MOVE OVER!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

I am never frightened by the weather. I am frightened by other drivers
Same. One person’s mistake causes others to panic
Nailed it !
10-4 on that
Everybody afraid og everybody. So we should all stay home:)
I used to be a Truck Driver, I always drove in Winter with the Mantra: "Better Late than Dead" running through my head...
Smart man. My dad used the same mantra. He drove for 25 years and never had an accident.
Never fails. Every year during the first snow, there's a large number of people who don't "remember" how to drive in it.
and after the snow, there is a large number of people who also forgot how to drive on a normal road until the snow is back...
I say up here in Northern IL: "For every snowflake that falls, another idiot forgets how to drive in it..."
I think the problem is that people drive on the edge of safety to begin with, no margin of error, 10 cars tailgating each other at 74mph, etc. I would argue this is what gets a lot of the DUI drivers, they're impaired sober.
Don't know if y'all heard of the near 100 car pile up that happened in Texas yesterday, classic case of people forgetting how to drive/ not knowing road conditions
forget hell, most dont know and never will
here in most of Canada we have 5 or 6 months of snow and every year when the first snow hits we have a bunch of people that forget how to drive in the snow, just drive for the conditions folks SLOW DOWN
In Calgary they tend to forget between one snow fall and the next.
Even in places that get mostly rain, it seems that people want to drive crazy fast, as tho they're , afraid their vehicle will get wet. I've seen people going 70-80 mph in the rain when I'm doing 50-55 to ensure I have connection to the road.
@@rustyiron Same here in Southern Ontario.
funny when I lived in Edmonton, every morning the wrecks were almost always caused by 4x4 trucks hehehe (not all of them )
In alaska they know how to drive In snow I have an friend that lives there and he tells me about it
Here in Norway, this is what we call a early summer..
i find it amazing how many people drive in this weather with out there lights on
You noticed that too..
Dang, those people are flying in that left lane.. stay safe!
They should really slow down! I've learned from watching some of the other videos about what I've been doing wrong, so now I'm working on being a much safer driver. I grew up in Colorado where snow can come at any time. I live in the very sunny SW near the border with Mexico (60 miles away) so we don't get snow very often unless we go North
At 10:54 when you said "clusterrrrr", I really thought you were about to say something else. Made me chuckle.
I think I know what you are getting at.....and I'm sure others could speak as well for Ron, he'd never use that language, ESPECIALLY when video taping....😊
As a Minnesotan I definitely chuckled at the "people haven't remembered how to drive in these conditions" part. Every year the first snow storm of the year we live by the moto "Ight. Everyone in the ditch!" Glad this one wasn't serious. I'll keep my -20⁰ and -30⁰ wind chills
I'm sure you already do but make sure you let Mikey know that he is a hard worker and does an amazing job. (everyone already knows you do an amazing job, so that goes without saying lol)
Good onsite management by EMS and your self.
Stay safe all and thanks for sharing.
I even PRAY for the tow operators. Thanks for sharing your adventures
Shout out to Texas Towing Companies who helped clean up Forth Worth texas crash yesterday I know it was terrible accident. stay safe my friends
Still cleaning up too, final count I heard was 135 cars, 6 deaths and 65 injured.. I love my state but we don't know how to drive in this weather..
Yep maybe they take our ice and give us the snow.
@@ejdiffenderfer6122 when I first saw it I was reminded of what happened to a very close friend in Houston.
She was in a suburban that got sandwiched between two semis. The suburban was crushed down to about 8' and burned. Needless to say she didn't survive.
Thankfully there were no vehicle fires in ft worth. Thought about that when I saw the semi on the wall and fuel running out.
Yeah We had a Big one, 133+ vehicles.. it was a Mess...Workers & maint crews were getting hypothermia from it.
@@ejdiffenderfer6122 prayers.
You guys have a mighty dangerous job out there and I will keep you all in my prayers. I am a 74yr old woman and I am so fascinated with the wealth of knowledge you have of what and how to do what it takes to get the job done. I get so caught up in it and thoroughly enjoy watching. God bless you all and stay safe. Thanks for taking me along for the ride.
The spirit of Ron's work
Oh yes I am Indonesian
A trick my dad thought me from 30+ years being over the road is too reach out and feel if the back of your mirror is frozen, if so the road usually is too.
Thats not very accurate. The easiest way to tell is if there is water being thrown from the tires of other cars.
I'm amazed Ron always knows exactly where everything is in all these lockers on all these different trucks!
Pretty sure that he uses his own truck
I was a volunteer fire fighter for 10 years, after enough time you can remember exactly where each thing you need is Even if it's in a hidden compartment inside another compartment
I’m not he owns all the trucks. 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂
If you were working on the trucks for 30+ years then the location would be easy if his help returns the item back into the correct lockers.
Let me just humorously correct you...Ron always knows where everything is supposed to be. Keep in mind, multiple people drive the trucks (except the Tator....lol....). Or he knows where HE put something on the truck....lolol..
I'm amazed at how many people drive without headlights in weather like this...
Thats my biggest issue, people not turning on their headlights.
I turn mine on as soon as I start the car. My brother worked for the US Forest Service and they were required to always have them on. On dirt roads (I live on one), dusty conditions, and at sunrise and sunset it helps you know if people are moving towards you or away from you. At night I've almost hit some idiot driving at night with no lights. Better to be safe than sorry.
Don’t you have Daytime Running Lights?
That's one of my BIG pet peeves.....LAW in my area (w nw Mo) is headlights on when wipers are required. People think "I can see just fine", they don't realize it's not about them being able to see....it's others being able to see them!
I'm driving around Dallas, and was on the roads when the 100 car pileup started in Fort Worth, with similar conditions. Most of us were doing 15-30 mph on the icy parts. There are always the few idiots doing 60 or 70, without any worries of all the ice (especially on bridges and overpasses)
Accidents happen, praise God for the tow men and women, thank you Mr. Pratt God Bless be safe
Ron as usual being the nicest guy with the quickest & efficient service. Great job!
That's good to see a man professing his faith in God keep up the good work
Enjoying Video, I Personally Miss My 25 Years In This Life Time Profession........ Thank You Really Enjoy Your Meeting Your Family.......
As a former tow truck operator and currently police officer, I appreciate what you guy do
Ron, Thanks for including the driving portion of your videos. I worked all of southeast Missouri for an insurance company, inspecting wrecks for years. I'm so familiar with all the roads there that I always know exactly where you are. I retired and live in Kentucky now, but get over that way occasionally. I'll stop in and see you when I can. Stay safe!
The day comes when no accidents happen on a first major snow fall is the day you... really have to be concerned.
We're Blessed to have you and your crew, as well as other tow companies, out there to take care of us when we need your help the most. And as always, God Bless and Stay Safe.
weather: _snows_
drivers: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that.
I swear winter weather brings out the poorest decisions in drivers
Treat snow like a heavy rainfall. Slow down and hold steady. Visibility is deceiving and while the road is passible it ain't reliable lest you give yourself as chance. Don't panic, be patient. The problems occur when the snow melts and refreezes. That's when things are bad, same going for heavy rain.
@@LJT7907 Bad drivers always make poor decisions, but they don’t usually see consequences when weather is forgiving.
@@cudwieser3952 Agreed, a few more minutes of driving a little slower isn't going to kill a person, so what if 'that meeting you arrive a little late' everyone else should understand. I see that a lot here in the Traverse City, Michigan area, the first significant snow fall on the roads we hear of finder binders and cars sliding off of the roads. They seem forget from year to year how to drive in that stuff.
even here in Canada people forget how to drive its sad lol we get 7 months of winter
Always the best outcome, no injury's, stay safe out there everyone
Also no injuries
Thanks you as well.
Be safe... so you know, your videos give us a lift we all need. Bless you and slow down, move over.
Praying for everyone and u guys to stay safe and warm 🙏
I was supposed to tow a sleeper tractor to our terminal in Waco and bring one back that has transmission trouble for repairs at Kenworth yesterday. I have an old International daycab with a 5th wheel mounted lift to backwards tow tractors. My terminal manager called up the Waco terminal manager. Waco said it was not a good idea. The roads were really icy between Jarrell and Waco. I remember two weeks ago having to take a flatbed to Waco to pick up package cement. 7 accidents in 5 miles in Temple, Texas. Even though the tractors I'd be towing would be heavy, it would not be a good idea to be out there if I didn't have to. We'll wait until this all blows over. I still have to pick up a tow truck in Sweetwater, Tx and tow a tractor from Abilene to San Antonio sometime next week. Good luck to you guys up there in Mo, Ron.
Good Morning! And God bless everyone on the highways! Slow down! And stay safe! Yesterday on Fort Worth! 😢😢😢 sad situation!
So true, but more is coming in this weekend. Where I live in NM, one forecast has us receiving 7" (almost 18 cm) of snow, ice and rain. We had about 1/10 in. earlier this year but none for the past several years.
Must be tough working in such condition, stay safe out there folks. God bless.
That's hard work out there, good team, great result.
I watch my mirrors ( usually if it's freezing precipitation ice starts to form), then I watch for road spray ( if it's ice, there is no spray), or if the road is covered, my truck and I will be parked. My life is, and the publics life, aren't worth what's in the back of my trailer.
And yes, no engine brake or cruise control.
Praying for you, your coworkers, and all who will be facing these dangerous frozen roads.
More snow on the way. Stay safe out there Mr. Pratt.
No fuss, no drama, just teamwork. Good result all round
I bet you’ve been busy this week too! I was in the area for work about 15 minutes north of your shop and the winter advisory said there were too many crashes to count! Stay safe!
I was born north of Kansas City Missouri & it never fails the first sign of bad weather people drive faster just to crash. Jeff Foxworthy's old saying you can't fix stupid. I used to live in Springfield Illinois & travel on interstate 55 to Saint Louis you'd always see someone run off the road or crash. Be safe Ron people are crazy.
It's the same here in Southern California where I am. Apparently when it rains here everyone forgets how to drive.
What timing just watch the news and seeing the big accident in Texas with the ice All I can say is God help you watch your back
Fantastic video as always
Amazing how you roads are so clear
That amount of snow would have brought us here in England to a stand still
Stay safe and god bless
So true Ron. If You on't get there, You can't help. As a retired ff/emtd I know very well. I always get a kick out of you responding "code 3". I can remember many times that I would just drive to my destination with no lights and siren because humans just don't get out of the way. God Bless us all.
Not only do people over estimate their driving abilities, but they also over estimate the quality of their tires!
That Toyota had brand new tires. The red dot was still on the sidewall.
That is so true and I’ve got snow tires on my car for the winter and I’ve got a good bit of weight in my car so that combo helps me a good bit and you can never be in a big hurry when they roads a bad just take your time to get where you’re going safely
Ron, Southern VA, got our first more than a dusting.
Because we are not flat, we are shut down. We look like your county. We are 28 degrees. We are down to sleet at noon. Yes, trees look pretty, until too much weight bends the branches.
When will people slow down? Keep reminding us to slow down. The Weather Channel put out a diagram of a bridge in snow------slow down.
Your wipers are on intermittent. One last thing. Your eyes are sooo good. I never see what you see, until you're on site.
Thanks for talking to us.
Judy.
God bless Ron an his crew, stay safe. as always love your videos
Prayers are on the way stay safe out there and like Ron says please slow down and move over if you can safely God bless all 🙏
Ron, thank you so much for leaving the driving portions in. I imagine that the majority of your viewers are professionals and want to see every aspect.
Hoooooboy my heart stopped when that orange tractor trailer sped by. What a good recovery, what a mess!
At least this wasn't that accident scene in Texas.
Ron has said that he does not show interventions where there are been Fatalities/serious injuries.
@@arlisspropertyservicesllc5943 I believe at least 10 Towtruck companies showed up
@@NickJ01 I saw them using 3 rotators working on one semi
@@NickJ01 It was no less than 13-14, 133+ vehicles, My g/f couldnt get to work yesterday because of it.
Yea that wreck was all hands on deck
Be ready for this coming week....prayers for all emergency workers
Always a good Friday when Ron gets a video out!!!God Bless
Ron you hard a hard working man and that's why I admire you. GOD BLESS
Man it’s crazy out there on the side of the highway. You guys do a great job. Stay safe out there. 🙏🏻
So much of this could be avoided if people would just slow down and pay attention.
And stay home on snow days if you have only summer tires!
Fat chance, gotta. get to destination,no matter what ME first, no body else matters
I was only a tow driver for a short time and I absolutely hated being on the freeway during a clear day. Rain or night even more so. I couldn't imagine in the snow. Pretty stressful situation.
Also thank you for doing what you do as someone from Michigan I understand snow and how people tend to not drive the smartest. Thank you for keeping safe and God Bless
Great job under very difficult circumstances. I have a lot of respect for the job your team does.
Hi Ron grate Job Thank God no one was injured you guys always do a excellent job Awesome 👏😀😊👍
Good morning and safe travels to you and your family
I hope that everyone is safe on the interstate
It is 26°F in central texas and we had rain, sleat and snow yesterday and the ground has ice on it today. You stay safe out on the roads. God bless.
Hello Ron.
I just wanted to say thank you for helping me create a radio controlled off road rescue vehicle.
It's going to be 8 wheel drive, 2 axles front and 2 at the back. 9 gears, 7 winches with snatch blocks and anchors if needed.
I'm fitting a simple crane (with no rotation) and it'll be between 2 and 3 feet long and should be able to lift 20kg.
If I didn't pay attention to what you do I would probably just make a machine that wouldn't work properly, but I think I've got the basics sorted and just need to make sure everything fits.
Stay safe everyone 👍😷
You guys are my new favourite obsession! It's amazing what you encounter and what you have to think of to do successful rescues of the vehicles involved.
Keep up the good work and stay safe out there!
I always enjoy your videos, but could you say or add what date the event took place please? The video's can be several weeks or months earlier, some may find it useful to know when the video was filmed. Thank you for your service.
We are getting lake effect snow in North East Oklahoma. LOL I never would believe that until the local weather guy just explained it
I live in Ohio so we get it frequently, but when i worked in South Bend Indiana would be lake affect snowing about once a day at least and the wind from the open lake blows it everywhere lol
Be safe!
Ron, that looked like a dangerous recovery -- ice, slush and high speed traffic. Be careful out there!
Its crazy here in Texas we are getting some cold weather and there's been a 100 car pile up because a highway froze over.
thing is, once the initial chaos was over, Texas showed me the most common sense driving on ice pack I've ever seen. This was when that huge ice storm encased the DFW area, a few years back. I guess the key is to not be out there during the first 24-48 hours.
@@infoanorexic Yep, you got that right. I live in the northeast (western NY to be specific). You don't want to be out in the first snowstorm of the season because people seem to forget how to drive on it over the other seasons.
Nice profile picture
Geez that red tractor trailer near the beginning was flying
After more then 24 hours 35 in Fort Worth is still closed it was a 133 vehicle pile up with so far at least 6 deaths, prayers for everyone involved, and please people just slow down nobody can tell what road conditions are, stay safe people, God bless
TxDot said they will be closed for at least the rest of today and maybe up into Saturday Forth Worth PD is still investigating and will let TX dot get in there when they done Tx dot says There going to have to repair major sections of the concrete and Barriers and will relay pre-treatment and treatment.
The last I heard yesterday was 7 deaths and a very large # sent to hospital.
@@NickJ01 Yes we had the largest in history of FW, My g/f couldnt get to work because of it, investigations are underway to see if the road crews didnt do enough prep.
Ron, you are very wise to keep your speed down. Those trucks passing you, are courting disaster, and could end up on the business end of your big wrecker. Driving in weather like that, requires concentration and moderation. You are clearly a disciplined and safe driver.
You and Mike work really well together. He's quick and smart, and the two of you can practically read each other's minds.
Always look forward to FRIDAY'S ITS RON TIME
I haven´t watched one of your videos for a month or so ... but man it is just good to see how much care you take while working and the respect you show to others.
Stay Safe Ron, i know winter is the worst and you gonna had so much work
and stay safe everyone, always check your vehicle safety and don't do speeding on the snowy road
Stay Safe, Good Luck and God Bless
It's tough with the snow, but when time isn't on your side, it's worse !!!!🚧 Thanks Bud fer taking us along. God Speed..
Great teamwork! Some people just don't understand the key is needed, not like you will drive off with it.
Cold here in New Hampshire with another storm this weekend.
Please drive safely and stay safe.
Ayyy New Hampshire gang!
NCIS - Gibbs' Rule #9 - never go anywhere without a knife. :) Mike is such a pro. Seeing him grow under your mentorship has to bring a smile. Thanks, as always, for a great video.
Ron I want to say that you always make great amazing content I have so much respect for the dangerous line of work you do. I currently am in training to be a recovery/ repossession person. I always watch your videos even your older videos are awesome. Thank you for the amazing content god bless you and your family. Stay safe Ron
Kris, another set of videos to watch is on the Weather Channel (I think Sunday night). These are from Canada: Highway thru Hell and Highway 401. Both are about heavy wreckers and how to use them. A lot of good information and some ideas for how NOT to do things. One thing I learned from watching the Ross Company use their rotators was how important physics and geometry are in the towing business.
This is the kind of job that keep you working very hard! This guy is far more than just a driver.
My Motto is... Don’t become a be part of the problem, remain a part of the solution.
Stay Safe out there
Best recovery technicians I have seen😊
Keep safe an warm out there Ron good to see you again buddy
As always, great recovery. Three vehicles attended safely and one lane remained open for traffic. Hats off to Missouri State Highway Patrol, NBC Fire and Scott City Fire. Of course Midwest is on the job performing at its best. Be careful and stay safe all of you.
Watching this video brought back memories. My wife and I were driving north south of Marion on Interstate 57 in Illinois. The highway was covered with ice and snow. I was driving a bit less than 30MPH. It was snowing heavily. I checked the mirror for traffic moving up behind me. A Fed X tractor pulling a double passed us. Approximately 50 yards ahead he tried to pull into the right hand lane and lost it. The tractor and the trailers whipped around sideways with the tractor pointed east. Then everything went counter clockwise with the tractor headed to the west. Somehow the driver got that rig under control, went back into the right hand lane and kept going. God had to be riding in that rig. Stay safe out there Ron.
Snow and ice is a major thing in Georgia where everything just shuts down. We haven't had any snow yet here. Just tons of rain. Georgia is known for it's hidden black ice. I'm glad I don't have to drive in bad weather. You guys have the hardest jobs when it comes to weather and dangerous situations. So glad you are out there helping all these scared people.
Stay safe, I think the worse has yet to be seen. Thank you for saying that about making it there. One of my first classes on fire ground tactics dealt with getting to the call safely and not creating a secondary incident that that taxes all levels of responding units and may in fact impact the total out come of the original call. Roll over fire responding units seems to have sadly escalated in past few years.
we (here in south central Illinois) had our first significant snow a couple weeks ago, more on the way, be safe out there.
06:00. Ron: i should go easy in this weather
Trucker: yolo! Peddle to the metal!
I'm sure he'll meet you soon enough
Quick work of that. Thanks for taking care of people too.
People just won’t slow down. Great video as always
It was also important that you reminded the guy about the keys & all you needed was the car key. You really helped this guy out, as if he got home & you had all his keys, how is he going to get in his house. Your a Savor Ron. In a time like that it is so hard to think about everything. You Da Man.
I wake up to snow in Virginia, and a snowy Ron Pratt video. All is good.
We woke up, too snow here in Maryland.
Be safe!!
Woke up to a mess here In central Va
Wow! That was slick the way you turned the Toyota Highlander........excellent teamwork.
Man I sure don't envy you guys having to work in those conditions.......
Thank you for your amazing videos. I have learned a lot just by watching them and have been able to use those techniques in my everyday life. I have always wanted to get into the towing and recovery profession, and you gave me the drive to peruse that. Once again, thank you for providing us with these informative and educational videos.
"not my wreck....but still checking on the officer" One of the top reasons I respect Ron!
another top reason: He's polite & professional, but always puts safety first.
Us Canadians: "Why aren't they using snow tires?"
Southern States: "... What's a snow tire?"
Seriously though, if more people would *drive for the conditions*, there'd be a lot less need for Ron and his crew, and the other men & women around the world working the same job. Just two days ago, I drove past two accidents 10 minutes apart almost certainly caused by people not driving for the conditions.
I am from the south....what's snow??😳😳
Here in Germany we usually put Winter tires on "From O to O" which just means from October until Easter (Ostern) and that usually has you covered.
It's astonishing how many people I see only putting on their Winter tires after it snowed.
Like come on, those things are for more than just Snow and even if they were only for snow what guarantees you'll never be somewhere else when the snow hits?
Let alone people like that Idiot a few days ago who got stuck in the snow with his Porsche because he only had winter tires on the front because he couldn't afford a full set.
Seriously if you can't afford a full set of essential Winter tires maybe buy a cheaper car.
There are seveal reasons I don't live in Canada and snow factors high on the list. This is SOUTHeast Missouri, "Bootheel". We usually have to look it up on the internet when it snows. When I lived in northern Missouri, we used a more aggressive tread.
We don't know much about snow in the south, but we do know about "black ice" like what happened here in Ft Worth yesterday.
@@Lorgres Many people here in Canada do put winter tires on (it's only common sense!), but only two provinces have it mandated by law: in Quebec, it's required December 15 to March 15; in British Columbia, October 1 to April 30, but only in mountainous areas.
Thanks Ron for another great video 👍 look forward to your videos have a good day & God bless
Already been doing jump starts and winch outs, that time of year again, stay safe out there, I know the feeling of getting a vehicle while a semi goes by at 70 mph.
