Humans have been on the earth for what, 100,000 years, and we all say the world is crazy and a terrible place to live in now. Well, listening to this epic played by the time traveller himself, and mesmerized by Karmen's flute, we should all thank God that we were born at the right time, in the right place, to hear and be a small part of such a wonderful musician and time. I'm back in my place now...two notes of the chord.
I , like so many here, have been on this journey with the Moodies for over 50 years and I can honestly say no other music puts me in a better place like they do. Justin’s music is a beautiful gift we can all share into eternity.
From Go Now to Seventh Sojourn a long time faithful fan. As it says on back of In search of a lost chord::: how can five musicians make such a beautiful sound. Simply the world 🌍 s vest band
Can't even tell you how much it means to me that Justin is still with us and playing music. I've always said that I think I love the music from that era more than anybody on Earth... and that included the Moodies for sure... I love the stories he tells about those days like making music with Ray Thomas in a broom closet..oh and smoking weed..lol... I have come to love his new little band and he still sounds absolutely wonderful !!
In my youth of the late sixties and early seventies the Moody Blues music transported me to a magical place that no one else could... a place that was almost indescribable, except for that other Moody lovers completely understood. I credit the words and music of Justin and the Moodies as an essential part of my youth by delivering an awareness of life within their songs.
I have no words....only emotion....as I remember Ray Thomas.....and Everyone in the Moody Blues over the years....Thank you for the memories, and the music. As the sun goes down in the evening, so pleasant is the memory of this music. Thank you.
I’ve loved the Moodies since I first heard their songs on the radio. That was before we had other forms of media like UA-cam. I think that for most people once they hear the Moodies’ music 🎶 they don’t leave them.
Watching and listening to Justin or the Moodies..they are and will always be my fav of all time!! They have a universe all their own. ....as they should!!! xxx They are hypnotic, xxx tysm
Man, I REALLY appreciate the great music the Moody Blues created. Things can seem pretty bleak in these dark days of 2020 and listening to this was like a burst of sunlight.
I have commented elsewhere, it is so unfair that Karman is so talented and beautiful with it 😂. An incredibly gifted line up who do great justice to the magnificent songs. They will endure for many years more.
This has to be my favorite video on UA-cam. Karmen Gould is not only beautiful but her ethereal sounds leave me mesmerized every time I hear this song. Justin knows how to pick talent! Thanks, DanBlues for bringing me this joy.
Karmen does play beautifully. Wonderful mix of talent, a real joy. It will be a big joy to see them live on stage once again. Looking forward to that. Merry Christmas.
This was from ‘On the Threshold of a Dream’ by the Moody Blues, performed again with his great companions at Bexhill-On-Sea in September 2019. Brilliant!
Moody blues is the most awesome awesome rock band contemporary man in the world. It was a pleasure listening and seeing you guys in concerts over the years, and just to know on his own totally awesome totally awesome music and remixes and his new music is great is great.
I love this song more and more every time I hear it. So I'm seriously loving it as I listen and have listened to it many, many times since its come out!
Hayward is that good a guitarist that never uses a capo, I have played since 1969 and I am no amateur, I have a Les Paul Classic, US Strat, Tele & Jaguar, Warmoth Les Paul, Godin Freeway, Martin 12 and 6 string acoustics and a Takamine 6 open C tuned and I have always admired Justin's playing and he is a good as those who are, and were called, "The Guitar Gods", in fact they may have learned for him. Marty Wilde taught Justin to sing and write music and boy did he do a good job. Vocally Justin can hold on to notes for longer than any pop singer I have ever heard, and during the core 7 albums he had a vocal range no other male singer had either that I can recall. What I liked about the Moodies in that core 7 period was that they wrote tunes that meant something other than sex or drugs, it almost as if they were writing tunes about the state of the world then and even now. No group came near the vocal and musicianship of them and not many groups can say they started a genre of music Prog Rock
Brilliant! One of the songs that positively impacted my youth. You have no idea. Of special note: no one can replace Ray Thomas whose composition made this song possible. And Norda Mullens seemed never to miss a note. So, kudos to this young lady who stepped into those shoes.
Great song. I sure miss the Moody Blues. They were a defining band in my life. I started listening to them at fifteen in 1970. I have had the pleasure of seeing the Moody Blues nine times over the years in both small and large venues. One small concert in London they were unplugged and seemed to play right to each person in the audience. It was well worth the price of admission!
@chip block - I think that small venues are the best, especially for this type of music. I’ve seen the Blue Jays live back in 75 and also much later the Moody Blues in a more recent USA tour. Both were excellent and in small/medium sized venues.
Saw them in Santa Rosa Ca in 2014.So great!Founding member Mike Pinder ,who hadn’t been playing with them for awhile, was there and circulated thru the audience meeting and greeting. What an experience.Been my favorites since mid sixties and Justin and group sounded just as good after all those years.
Thank You for the reminiscence. This tune induced tranquility in a mind at turmoil, back in the 70's. Tonight, true tears in my eyes .. all of my nightmares from those days are turning true these days. MGB us all
Taste, smell and music have so much power to take you back in time, for a glimpse of who you were some 50 years ago. Their music was healing for me at a very, very painful time of my life. I am forever, grateful that the Moody Blues grew up with me, and they had music that could take me to the deepest depths of my soul. Sometimes, tears would fall from my eyes, but in a healing, cathartic way. Thank you guys, for the light you created that helped me along in my life. I just saw this video and I have to say, “ it’s lovely to see you again my friend!” Peace
What is amazing to me is how young Justin was to write a song like this. I know Ray cowrote, but listening to his earliest songs almost breaks my heart. Sublime the flute so soft and like Ray.
This is in my rotation of one of my favorites. You know you can’t have just one. The song from the broom cupboard!!! Simply love the song as it is a time traveler to imagination and mystery. Thanks for your insightful comments.
It's great listening to Justin's tales. Merlin has surely cast his spell. Such beautiful music as Justin says....guitar and flute made for each other! Thank you Justin.12/23
Beautiful music, perfect performance, skilfully filmed, thank you so much for that. Karmen adds such a lot to the latest shows, and it feels like Ray is watching and would very much approve! Shivers.
MoodyMike007 Such lovely comments and compliments!!! Skillfully filmed..at times. 😂 I know that night I was like a kid in a candy store. All excited about getting these gems on film. I do my best as I always try to make Justin and the band look great. Sometimes the camera work gets a little jittery. I know when I have an arm rest I film better. But not that night. Thanks again Mike for the comments.
Another Favorite, sounding so nice, love the flute and everyone, thanks again Dan, how wonderful that you are able to travel to see and experience all of these great performances to share with all of us!! I like the way Justin enunciates all his lyrics, brilliant!❣
Rosemary Stanley thanks for the lovely comments. Yes I as long as If Justin tours in driving distance I will try to see a show. It’s nice when he comes to my hometown which seems like forever in a blue moon. Thanks again Rosemary!!
It’s really sad that Ray Thomas, the Moody Blues flutist, died just months before their induction into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. They should have been inducted decades earlier.! Shame on the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame!
Wow, I listened to Threshold of a Dream yesterday!! Last week it was To Our Children’s Children’s Children! I have never tired of those first seven albums [I have the CD set of the first four] and I must get my vinyl out. Just wonderful!
We are here to awaken to a world of new possibilities, where fear does not command us and love warms our hearts, as our spirits flow towards the immortal rivers of time and destiny. ❤️ 🌎❤️
I can hear and have heard Ray Thomas play that just have beautifully. Yep, I’m that old. I’ve seen Ray play that long before there were electric flutes.
The broom cupboard. "Are you sitting comfortably?" And something like "let's let Merlin cast his spell and see what comes of it..." could well be the impetus for this great song. I don't know that of course, just musing on his story...
One of my favourite Justin / Moodies songs made extra special with its reference to Merlin and the Arthurian legend from Cornwall, great song and a great live version
The Moodies had a heavy hitter line up with Justin and Ray and Mike. By themselves or collaborating on something they always came up with something incredible. No shit.

Justin as always amazing but all praise to Karmen for beautiful flute playing.
Justin Hayward is a genius, he wrote so many songs with the Moody Blues. Gosh, he still sings beautifully here…I love this man! ♥️🌺🌹
The most complete, beautiful and calming song ever. I have been under the Moodies Spell for 50 years and it's not showing any signs of breaking....
OMG, yet another Moody gem, unheard 'til now, 50+yrs later.
Chris Hedges....AMEN! I concur!!
Amen. Incredible musicians and music that will live forever...
I'm 70 next year, have loved the moodies forever. This song is beautiful
One of my favorite songs by the Moodys, and that flutist is exquisite.
I , like so many here, have been on this journey with the Moodies for over 50 years and I can honestly say no other music puts me in a better place like they do. Justin’s music is a beautiful gift we can all share into eternity.
John Talarico well said. Thanks for your comments!!!
I'm a 50 year moodiesince 1972
From Go Now to Seventh Sojourn a long time faithful fan. As it says on back of In search of a lost chord::: how can five musicians make such a beautiful sound. Simply the world 🌍 s vest band
Just beautiful, and after the last note I almost expected to hear Mike Pinder saying...This garden universe vibrates complete.
"when the white eagle was flying overhead..."

Always a time trip

I have had the pleasure of seeing the Moody Blues live at least 17 times from 1991 through 2016 and they are marvelous in concert!
Yes I too have seen them going back to the Mid80’s onward. I so enjoy Justin’s solo concerts.
I have no words....only emotion....as I remember Ray Thomas.....and Everyone in the Moody Blues over the years....Thank you for the memories, and the music. As the sun goes down in the evening, so pleasant is the memory of this music. Thank you.

Karmen plays beautifully and really captures the essence of the Moodies
So wonderfully said.
I'm lucky to have lived in the same era as these.
As Merlin casts his spell so does Justin.

Spot on! Justin Hayward and The Moody Blue are so classy - such beauty in everything single them they have ever done!

Yes - Justin knows how to pick talent because he is so incredibly talented and beautiful!
I could listen to Justin sing a phone book...if they still made them.
Me too.
WOW...seems we all feel the very same way.....AMAZING!
TOO FUNNY 😂😂😇🙏💖
ACTUALLY THEY STILL DO MAKE PHONE BOOKS WHICH ALSO CONTAIN MOBILE NUMBERS....😉😇🙏💖

so geht es mir auch und ich kann jedem Wort nur zustimmen!
I love Justin's voice and all his and the Moody Blues music. I listen to it quite often. Thank you
Such a Masterpiece of a Song w/ both Justin & Flautist Karmen Gould 😆
Glenn Reiland this concert...if there was “the best” concert... this was it. The New Orleans and Austin shows were right there with being “The Best”
Couple of unfortunate sharp flute notes.
@@MyVeryHappyDay I really disagree Happy Day 😆

Denise Marie as do you.

I'm 71 and have been a fan since the beginning.

Ppl thought I was odd for listening to the moody blues while they listened to the top 40 songs back then
Great song. I also play flute.
Awesome. Play any Moody Blues tunes.
wowwwww
I have to agree, the flute was made to go with a guitar, and Hayward's smooth as silk voice.
This girl is awesome!! However, missing Ray Thomas. Too bad he wasn’t able to be with JH on a tour like this.
I fell in love with Karmen at this concert. So much passion in playing the flute.
