    I've been thinking about one of these to break up the hard dirt spots in my lawn where the grass has stopped growing. Based on your demo, it appears it will do the trick! Will probably hit it like a day after a rain so the soil has had a chance to loosen a little. Thanks for posting this thing in action, really helpful.

    I really appreciated your video. We have a big dog who likes to dig. We have many spots to take care of. I especially appreciated the detail you put in about how to clean it. You may have thought it was trivial, but it really helped me.
    We got ours put together this morning and my husband was so intrigued that he came out yo try it out. We worked together for an hour, taking turns running and raking soil, and got more done than either of us could have imagined! Thanks again!

      I like my EGO mower too. Could I suggest that as regards the blower that to be a good neighbour you don't use it, but employ a simple rake or yard brush, and dispose of the stuff in a responsible manner. IMHO a blower is exactly like sweeping the dust under the rug.

    Got this because of your review. I have used my EGO power head for about 60 minutes. One day with the broom and for 15 seconds with the cultivator. I started cultivating some sandy soil when the cultivator hit a small rock. I bent down and tossed the rock to the side. I tried to start the cultivator again, but it did not start. The battery is fully charged, and I have tried a second battery, too. I can spin the rod in the power head freely, but it will not turn with power, the battery blinks red when I try. I contacted EGO and they say the stone is a natural accident and not covered by warranty. I say something must be wrong with the wand and I want it checked. They continue to say that the rock has damaged it and the warranty does not cover it. I have asked to have this escalated up and have someone call me. They did after several days, but still repeat their written script that the rock has voided the warranty. It’s a garden cultivator, you will hit some small rocks. Common sense tells me there must be something wrong with the power head, but they continue with the script, the rock has voided your warranty. So, the wand lasted for 60 minutes. That is an expensive hour. Making me more frustrated with EGO is trying to connect with a human. I have spent over 90 minutes, (three phone calls) listening to the on-hold music. The first time I connected with them, we were disconnected at 5:00 PM. I tried to call back only to find out they were closed for the day. That was very disturbing. I have bought the cultivator, broom, edger, and string trimmer in hopes of getting my area cleaned up this summer. So far, my experience has been very dissatisfying with EGO and I cannot recommend them.

      Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble there. Curious as to what has gone wrong on yours. I have had no trouble with mine, which I know doesn't help you out there. I know that getting ahold of EGO has gotten harder over the last few years. I have lost my contacts down there as well. I still think they make some of the best cordless outdoor equipment, but there is room for improvement when it come to supporting customers. When you say sandy soil and small rock, curious specifically what do you mean? What part of the country and how big is said small rock?

    • @koralr33fer79
      @koralr33fer79 Рік тому

      With the battery blinking I'm curious if the issue is actually with the power head or possibly just a old or defective battery. Are you using an EGO battery or an offbrand one? Do the other tools still function just not will the tiller head? If the issue was with the power head i dont think the battery would be blinking red.

Right now I have a craftsman battery powered weed eater and its good but it just doesn't last long. the batteries are small and I can't go on the low setting because its just not that good on low setting. i got a Ego weed eater from lowes last week , the $ 178.00 one with 2.5 amp battery and its awesome. it has the variable speed trigger and i never have to run it over 50% throttle. it cuts grass like a beast. at 100% throttle if you hit a rock or something and it comes at you then you are in trouble! 100% on this thing is way to much. takes 45 min to fully charge and last me a solid 30 min of non stop weed eating on 50% throttle. and by that time i am give out and need a break i am in love with my Ego trimmer. best money i ever spent. just wish i had gotten it sooner. i researched trimmers for a year before i finally got this one thinking that there is no way a battery powered trimmer could be as good as a gas model but i was very very wrong. trust me you will love it.

    Would this be suitable for clay soil with some stones mixed in with a 25cc strimmer engine?

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  4 роки тому +2

      It is designed for the EGO Multi-Head system. As for the clay soil, that's pushing it for any cultivator. This is hard rocky soil that I was in and it worked, but that is it's limit. For soil even harder and packed you are going to need a roto-tiller. Thanks for watching and don't forget to stop by our website for many more helpful videos. www.greatwhiteninja.com

    On truly hard-surfaced soil, the cultivator head just bounces up and down without digging in to the soil at all ... the blades are too broad. I had to buy additional tools to break up the surface before the cultivator was able to do anything useful. Once the surface is chewed up, the cultivator blades manage to catch and it can do its thing.

    You were right to point out that the EGO cultivator will not do the work of a Root-Tiller. Your demo on what is lightly compacted topsoil is hardly impressive, but is probably a fair assessment of what in IMO is the weak sister of the EGO family.

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  2 роки тому

      Yes, many people think that because a cultivator has tines, that it is just a small rototiller. You have to already have soft soil. Now, this is heavy topsoil here so I was actually impressed. But it was of course not the hard compacted, rocky soil outside the bed. That would have just broken it. Thanks for watching.

      @@99cornisland I live in PA, and our soil is heavily clay in my area (near Harrisburg). After using a mattock to try to till a new wildflower bed by hand, I quit after about 1/4 of the way through and bought the EGO cultivator (I already had the power head). No, it isn't easy, but it was waaaaaay easier than doing it by hand. The bed is at least 15'x15' (I didn't measure it). The soil was softened by a recent steady rain, which no doubt made it easier. Doubt this would be very effective on hard clay in the middle of summer during a drought, but it works in the right conditions. Since we won't plant the bed until spring, I'll take the cultivator out every so often to keep the bed tilled so no grass takes hold, but man this thing saved me a ton of sweat equity. Had no problem doing the entire bed on a 5.0AH battery with the head on the 2 (i.e. high) setting.
