    Thanks for the decent review of the DeWalt string trimmer. I purchased the same trimmer and the DCMWSP255Y2 mower. I love not having to have ANY gas in my garage. My trimmer came with a 9Ah battery, and the mower came with 2x12Ah batteries. I noticed on the string trimmer that I can use it on Low setting, and only need minimal power to complete all the trimming on my suburban property. I then switch to the edger attachment. This I use it on High at full speed. I've been really happy with this tool and its attachments.

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    I’ve had the dewalt string trimmer and blower for five years now. They have been flawless. I use the 5.0 and 6.0 batteries in them. So much better than gas powered small engines now.

      @@bigbigspoon I got the new "Beast mode" of a Dewalt (DCST970X1), but I also purchased the much larger guard to go with it. 60v of power clearly kicks the 20v units butt. The older unit works great, probably 3-4 years now, but its going to my rental properties now, new one staying home with me. Even on LOW, I barely just touch the lever to take out weeds around the sidewalk.
      No, it does not have the attachments, it has raw power I've never seen in a battery string trimmer.

    How much runtime did you get with your batteries? If you can include run times for both settings (1 and 2) if you used both for the duration of the battery, that would be great.

    With a brushless trimmer you do not tap it. You turn it on to the speed you want and run at that speed. For careful work in gardens, around cars, etc you just run it at the lower speed. Much easier and safer than a gas trimmer.

      Was it a cordless lawn mower? Back in the early 2000s I remember using an electric lawn mower, but it wasn’t cordless. It really wasn’t that bad in my experience, just had to get used to be tethered to an extension cord.

  • @zekigpr
    @zekigpr Рік тому

    Biggest issue, quality and durability. Ryobi, for example, in famous for its low quality and lack of durability. Sthil and echo are known for their quality and durability. Within that scale, where does the DeWalt 60 volts trimmer stands? For how long the battery last, the key is that for longer continuous work you will need more than one battery, safer to have four and a rapid charger. Three batteries and one fast charger is the minimum for continuous work.

      Yes, this too may be my biggest gripe. I have a Stihl gad Kombi unit. I'm 5'10" and my back ACHES from stooping to use edger/trimmer for ~60 minutes. It's ludicrous -- as if manufacturers don't care. Instead of a longer, more appropriate length for adult men, I guess they shave cost with shorter overall lengths!!!

      @@CGGC0202 ok, and who cares if Dewalt isn't the very best for lawn tools. They're good enough for people who just want to stick with power tool batteries otherwise you're left spending more $$ for lithium you probably didn't actually need. Save some money and buy more power tools that Ego will never ever make. I can think of dozens of other Milwaukee/Makita/Dewalt tools I'd rather buy than some Ego batteries I might only ever use on 2-3 tools.
      Plus Dewalt's powerhead doesn't use proprietary coupling. So being able to pick up attachments from Echo, Stihl, Husq, Ryobi/Hart, Troybilt, etc, etc is a nice option for catching more potential sales or used market attachments.
