Thank you. This is not just one of my favorite Zappa songs but one of my favorite songs of all time. There is something deeply moving about it. Also seriously well made track - no fooling, this is a real poncho.
Jesus.... I just wanted to try jamming over this and suddenly the video was over :O I lost track of time and was in heaven for 16 minutes. Thank you so much for making this backing track. :D
Just not sure how it all works, playing over 50 years and it befuddles me how two chords can generate all that tension and passion, just love playing my balls off and working up a sweat. Thanks NYS GREAT tracks.
I play completely by ear with precious little theory in my battered old head. I decided to come back to this when I was more awake and alert because something kept messing up my playing . . then and only then, did I see it was in 9/4 time!! The Amaj7 chord is held for four beats and the Emaj7 chord for FIVE beats. I'll have another go tomorrow.
unbelievable..... I love this track. Watermelon in eastern hay. Its one of my favs from frank just like pink napkins so nice to find a background track with it.
The suggestion to learn some vocabulary is right on target for me... I have tended to avoid learning others riffs so I could just find my own jam but as I have discovered there is little point spending so much valuable time discovering what others have already learned before me... It reminds me of the tale of that Indian man who found a high school level maths book from the west when he was a kid. From that one little snippet of western maths he went on to teach himself advanced calculus. He was such a gifted math magician that he re-invented approx 500 years worth of western/eastern maths... if his talent was recognized earlier and he had had a university education he could've solved the next 500 years of maths problems instead of going over old stuff he didn't know had already been done... he still went on to a great university career but in his latter years. Einstein did all his greatest works as a 25 yr old man...not the white haired elderly professor of fame. Learn while you can from the best that you can... Don't re-invent the wheel...ride the bike.
I think the best thing about a track like this one is that it forces you to do things you would have never thought of, as opposed to playing with a 12 bar blues track. Keep it up and continue to explore new things!
A midly twisted "Blessed Relief" theme worked so weel on that too ! I wouldn't harass you with a comment on any track, so once again thank you thank you it's great. It opened my "bedroom computer producer" skills like never in just a few days
Now You Shred Jam Tracks Online Yes, i was watching a video of Frank Zappa playing watermelon and he played a little em blues on it. Sounds nice when used right.
There’s a quick rundown of all those in the description of all of my latest videos. Basically, the triangle means major (as in, from a major scale) the P means perfect, as in Perfect 4th or Perfect 5th. Google “interval system in music”
Is it really FZ playing this backing track? I would guess he had other things to do. There must be some reason he hired other guitarists (Steve Vai not counted).

I know, crazy right? It’s super fun to play over once you get the hang of it.
@@nowyoushred . . It wouldn't be Zappa if it wasn't crazy . . am I right or am I right?

Yeah, I totally agree. The only way to break new ground is to stand on the shoulders of giants, or be a genius. I’ll take all the help that I can get.

Heavenly piece of music. Just can’t stop listening to it. Many Thanks.
Thank you!
Had to replay this one
Good!
Easter hay waa our wedding dance in 93' intro and all lol
What a great wedding song!
Sir, this classic needs an update! I love when you did with the updated Time backing track.
On it!
Yea, good move! I will be tearing this one up for a while. Probably my Fave FZ tune!
Hope you killed it!
@@nowyoushred That is really a great track. If you like FZ or Vai then its a must to download
thank you so much! favorite zappa song!
what song is it
Watermelon in Easter Hay!
best backing tracks on youtube. broad variety of styles and nice n long so you can really get into it. SUBSCRIBED.
A midly twisted "Blessed Relief" theme worked so weel on that too !
I wouldn't harass you with a comment on any track, so once again thank you thank you it's great. It opened my "bedroom computer producer" skills like never in just a few days
Nice! We are all bedroom computer producers now my friend!
Blissful.
Amazing work again.
you really spend a good amount of time on these, Appreciate it!
Yea, I really enjoyed this.
Pheeeeeew!!!!!!
I play C# minor with this and add p4 and Δ7 from the lower chart
That’ll work just fine!
Watermelon...
Sublime
FZ actually 😂😆😂
I feel God's breath on me in the ascending and descending
Amazing!
Haven´t you done this before, or quite similar?....with this cool lydian-pentatonic-Stuff. ;-]
Yep, but this one sounds better :)
Em blues is not bad on this,by the way thanks for this beautiful track.
Thanks man! E minor blues could work, in a bluesy sort of way!!
Now You Shred Jam Tracks Online Yes, i was watching a video of Frank Zappa playing watermelon and he played a little em blues on it. Sounds nice when used right.
Love the stuff you put up..., subscribed!
Any chance of a, What's New in Baltimore sounding track?
Hey Jay, now THAT is a kick ass idea!
This is, by far, my favourite to play to right now. I'd be in heaven if you did that.
Great jam tracks! Can you provide a key to the notation for both the triangle symbol and the small p symbol used with notes in the scale? Thanks.

This 9/4 track is exactly what I needed, I’m trying to do like an 18/8 thing and I think this’ll work perfectly but I can’t find it on Bandcamp.
What are you doing, an Indian classical music workshop or something?
@@nowyoushred no haha just an 18/8 synth riff, it’s called unzipping the zype by Steve hillage
WHAT FUCKING SONG IS THIS GOD DAMN
Watermelon in Easter Hay
For my daughter Callista. I miss you!
C# Pentatonic works for me here. ;-)
I guess this is comin from the E ionian hence the equivalent minor ---> c# works in a way.
On the nose
black napkin please
Coming right up sir! I mean it!
still want the scorpions sound track "still loving you" it's actually g minor not g#m8nor my bad lol
Thanks dude i better roll one and pick up the old geetar man..bless
Praise the loh!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@nowyoushred these zappa ones are great man can only get better and better big shoutout...
Is it really FZ playing this backing track? I would guess he had other things to do. There must be some reason he hired other guitarists (Steve Vai not counted).
I take that as a compliment!
I hear Ab before Emaj9 not A . Just Sayin.
Yeah, the Ab note is the major 7th of the A chord. That's why its written as Amaj7, not just A
I am really sorry about the de-mon.
Thanks Mike, we are actually in high gear now making an jam app. Any features that you couldn’t live without?

Love this backing track. Thanks mate 👍
