Such a great mind, such a great backing to solo over. Seen FZ two times at the palladium in NYC. The second time 4th row center the night before Halloween. OMG
4/4 and 5/4 time signatures alternate throughout the piece! Emphasise the first beat of each bar. Hence count1,2,3,4 and 1,2,3,4,5 as you play...strictly! So it's atually in 9/4.
Absolutely right my dear Tufty! Yes, in strict time. Many guitarists cannot play this because they’re into mindless noodling without adhering to the strict time signature. The Mothers of Invention had to pass auditions with Uncle Frank. Many failed not because they couldn’t read music but because they could not play in awkward time signatures. Steve Vai?👏👍
@@huntermushero9362 Yes, Frank Zappa demanded a lot from his band. Eg Tommy Mars an excellent keyboardist was told sometimes to go “loose” ie improvise and sometimes Frank would say, “NO, NO, Tommy, you must play this exactly as written!”. This is all according to BBC’s radio tribute to Zappa when Tommy Mars was interviewed soon after Frank died. Even Steve Vai was reduced to tears when he “froze” once on stage! Is he “roadable” asked Frank of Tommy?🤔
Tufty Aurelius You know Franks strict when he makes Steve Vai crack. Even when he was 18. As a self taught guitarist I forgot time signatures were even a thing so this has definitely improved my playing. I appreciate it. 🤘
No! Zappa hated drug use apart from cigs and coffee! He pointed out all the stoned people to son Dweezil at concerts and told him not to do drugs. He was never a hippy but a self-styled FREAK!
@@GetUpTheMountains I always found it a little contradictory of Frank to hate drugs so much yet he lived off coffee and cigs! Only the lesser drugs are ok???
@@abarlowgsa You'll find contradictions in anyone whom you start to hold on a pedestal for one reason or another. We're all human and we all have opinions that are great and dumb, all wrapped up in the same person. I love me some Zappa and think he has great points about lots of ideas outside of music, but he's certainly capable of being as full of shit as any of us are on a given topic as well. :)
I have been waiting for this for years. Typical that I am recovering from a broken left wrist and can't let rip yet. Bah!. Never mind, thanks for the upload!
A F# E B is correct. Not C#m/E major. If you're going to teach people how to play this song do it right, you only confuse people. The backing track is correct but your text is not
i play this in E A B (same as joe's garage) sounds much better....start in A....down to E....A.....up to B.....slider 'er on down to E....give 'er a try...you can hear it as you play it
playing for my daughter. i miss you callista.
One of many brilliant pieces of Franks!!! probably his most heartfelt riff!!!
Great backing track.
Fantastic, eternal song..
MISS FRANK!!!!!!!

I did not know that. I’ve been just a noodling but it’s been fun messing with that. It already sounds better.

Thank you for uploading! So nice to play to.

It's not too slow. The tempo is identical to the one on Joe's Garage.
Este tema ya es un clasico que transmite algo que Zappa solo el lo sabia hacer tan magistralmente.
Thank for share this, i ve looking for this a long time!!!
This is un My top of guitar songs, like sleep walk and for the love of god
one more thing that will help new guitar players out is that it is in the E lonian scale
good luck trying to out do Frank but ya gotta try right?

Hermosa cancion
My wedding dance song
wow... thank you.
THANKS!!! REALLY HELPED
Great backing track for practicing this song. I find the fuzz-tone guitar excessive, though. It competes with what I'm playing on top of it.
