- Опубліковано 3 гру 2017
- After Rodney’s stand-up set, Johnny and Ed surprise him with a birthday cake. But be careful what you wish for. Give me the cake! Originally aired November 22, 1972 on the Tonight Show.
1:05 “One time I was drowning. I was yelling, ‘Help! Help!’ A lifeguard came over, said ‘Alright, keep it down! Keep it down!’”
1:53 “When I was a kid, eight years old, my parents sent me to a child psychiatrist. I went for a year and a half. The kid didn't help me at all.”
2:26 “My dentist, that's another beauty. It cost me $5,000 to get all new teeth put in. Now he tells me, you need braces.”

We need Rodney Dangerfield and Johnny Carson right now. They are both talented men.
👍
Difficult request. They're both dead.
hi Irish Mike here
They are both very dead.
Today only woke and narcissists are welcome on TV.
RIP Rodney we all love you
Jack Roy .. salesman's .turned
Comedian..❤️👍💪🙏🙏
Just realized based on these dates... he would be 100. Crazy
Rodney will be 100 years old November this year, this show was broadcast 49 years ago. And here is this bit being given new life via UA-cam and getting more than a million views. Thank you, Rodney (and Johnny) for the laughs that transcends the years.
Great comment!!
U can really tell how much Rodney enjoyed this moment in time, how grateful he was, and how he would have never thought that this will happen to him. He’s almost overwhelmed, really. Cheers! Here’s to all of our birthdays!
Rodney Dangerfield one of the all-time great comedians happy birthday Rodney Dangerfield you certainly earned it along with the respect for the many years of entertainment. Rest in peace!🎇🎉
Rodney is a legend in self-depreciating comedy, Rest his soul! I was hearing his "Caddyshack" quotes on the radio yesterday. My greatest Respect!
The word is "deprecating" --not depreciating, just sayin' --
...looks good on you though (rolls eyes) 🤣
"You're a lot of woman, you know that? Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?"
hi Irish Mike here
The best
Rest in peace Rodney Dangerfield. No one can make people laugh like you can you are a legend.
Rodney was one of a kind. I miss him like hell.
Rodney really was a nice guy. Helped a lot of up and coming comedians.
so did Johnny
I absolutely loved Rodney!!!!!!
And the hosts of the tonight show after Johnny Carson could never come up to him! Miss these men!!!
He promoted a lot of younger comedians when he got the chance. Generous guy. Big heart.
The irony was...Rodney always had our respect. A true master of old school comedy. He was highly intelligent and modest, and used his inner pain to create joy.
So true
ProjectFlashlight612 old school comedy? Jokes age? You’re a idiot
If he had respect his career would have ended lmao
@@ab-lz6ix Lol
@@Foodforthoght I agree. But given you are a cretin, I still come out on top.
Rodney is so touched and moved by the birthday greetings. so sweet! i love the Tonight Show's curtains. when Johnny Carson & Rodney Dangerfield get together, it's always fireworks. LOVE IT!
Please teach your children about Rodney Dangerfield. He needs to live on. This guy is real and has thee best voice and movements for his time. Him and Carson together made history more than once.
the man was a genius ,do you notice he has endless comedic dialogue in his head , brilliant you'll never find that today
Rodney Dangercield was truly a master of his trade. This world would be so much h better with more comedians like him.
When the late night shows were actually fun.
Exactly. So tired of the current leftist commentators masquerading as faux comedians. Even worse, watching the audience actually laughing at what they're supposedly joking about!
...and only about true entertainment, rather than a political platform.
“I was at the beach one time, and I couldn’t find my parents, I asked the police officer if he could help me find them. He said I don’t know kid, there are a lot of places they could hide.”
Rodney once was complaining of receiving no respect. He said when he was in surgery , he heard the Doctor tell the nurses, "l will take all calls."
"I was talking to a girl on the phone and she told to come because nobody's home. I went to her house and nobody was home."
Ok
Rodney is one of the greatest comedians ever, and Johnny is one of the best talk show hosts of all time. There have been many, but few have matched Rodney and Johnny.
Back in the day when comedy was funny not filthy. Rest in peace Rodney Dangerfield. You made me laugh when I was a kid and I'm still laughing today.
You have to see him live to appreciate him totally. I was lucky enough to see him in 1980, at his peak, and I thought I was gonna die because his one liners are rapid and he makes you laugh so hard you can't get your breath between jokes. Funniest night of my life. Gator Growl, the U of Florida Homecoming brought his to the Gators stadium. Sold out and 80,000 people laughing for 90 minutes.
Such a legend!! Love this guy, shame i never had the chance to meet him!!
I saw him once a 70-minute show and I could not remember any of the jokes I was in stitches the whole time
Legendary comedian! One of the best of the best!
The Best!
Rodney Dangerfield definitely had and still has my respect for him.
This was a real talk show. Not the bs that is on tv today
Rodney was great As for the Tonight show Jimmy Fallon needs to watch some tapes of Carson Maybe he will learn something!!!
I saw Rodney in a show in 1977, absolutely over the top. He told jokes so fast I was laughing so much I couldn't keep up with him. At the end of the show he took questions from the audience. One guy yelled, Rodney what did you do first a living. He replied, I get tricks for your sister! Rodney, you are the best.
Grew up watching Johnny Carson and Rodney Dangerfield
What a man ! Miss you Mr. Dangerfield!!
My favorite Dangerfield "I don't get no respect" joke: "When I was born, I was so ugly the doctor slapped my mother."
and the one that always follows... "maam, we did everything we could, but he still survived"...Priceless Dangerfield!
For the trifecta! “When I was born the doctor slapped me. …the NURSE got in a few ‘good ones,’ TOO.”
@@JayAr709 You beat me to it!!!...
I love and miss Rodney Dangerfield SO MUCH and he's my favorite comedian EVER !
l remember this show. l had had a bad nights sleep and got up to watch the greatest comedian of the modern era.

"My doctor told me to continue smoking if I want to quit chewing gum!" RIP Rodney - you were terrific!
I went in the local bar the bartender asked me want can I get you I said surprise me and showed me a nude picture of my wife
Still making me laugh today..... God bless Rodney and Johnny I hope they are still making jokes wherever they might be.
Rodney was one of the many genuine people that Johnny really liked and he promoted him heavily and Rodney always appreciated it. It’s great to see this relationship evolve over the years on You Tube.
Never be another Rodney
Lord knows we could use another Rodney...and Carson, for that matter.

Sadly they’ll never be...

Norm and Conan are as close as we have.
That’s one of my favorite lines of his, ever, about the child psychiatrist! “The kid didn’t help me at all!” 😆😆😆
Never cursed, no f- bombs, just pure comedy. CLASS!
Yes for sure no politics hate or B's! Classic comic he and Groucho were my heros
cussing is good tho bitch
I think in his later years, he was a little more crass. When he abandoned the suit
Of course not on Carson because it was network television. See him perform live and yes he did work very blue.
Johnny was a great straight man. That’s because he was a great comedian himself. Today’s hosts can learn.
Rodney was a national treasure! RIP.
He will always have my respect.
Shame he doesn't get any.
The greatest EVER.
So nice of Johnny and Ed to do that for Rodney. Thanks for the memories!
Just 8 years later, he starred in the movie Caddyshack, which wasn’t received very well @ first, God, I’m getting old!! RIP Rodney, def on of the greats!!!
I was introduced to Rodney with caddy shack, he so perfectly acted as his opposite, to his opposite... I love this man. I'd give almost anything to have a BBQ with him and Malcom X, I'd swear they'd agree on so much
That's a BBQ I would sell my soul for
Tie activates another joke.
Lol best comment ever
@D - Block Rodney was on cocaine?
@@juggernaut4898 He certainly was on some kind of stimulant. You can tell. He's always wired.

I tell ya I get no respect. I called suicide hotline and they put me on hold 😆
If you want to restate a joke you gotta Ronit correctly.
It's like that:
I called suicide hotline and they tried to talk me into it!
@@Cartman8402 Idk what you mean by Ronit but your joke is funny, that's how Rodney would say it now LOFL 😂
Ive actually been put on hold 😔
I'm dying over here, Rodney you are the best

I thought the line went, she only liked me as a friend.
That joke he re-used with modifications, around 200 times

I so love Rodney i thank him for relieving me of my wife. Now i got some respect,
When late night shows were actually funny. Dangerfield and Carson were the kings of comedy
I wanted to see him in Vegas & wrote him an email saying I and my girlfriend loved him & much to my surprise he wrote me back & said :
“ You stay home. Send your girlfriend. “
I wish we had seen him live.
We miss him & Johnny as well.
I watched Johnny’s first show & we watched him for years.
This is classic downtown...nyc ....early 70s pure sink or swim.. comedy...
Another Carson and Rodney so true. Lol ❤️Hopefully all read the book Rodney wrote , very important. I still have my copy. Yep!!! Great book!!!
The one and only..a legend..RIP Rodney
As a kid I remember thinking to myself as I watched him do stand up, “this man is funny in the most perfect way”
He was quick and witty any new how to deliver which made him one of the best stand up comedians ever
These old shows are priceless . . .
This is the only time that I have seen Rodney out of Rhythm with the audience.
R.I.P. Rodney
You Are The Greatest Comedian Ever !!!!
Gorgeous girl and guy left for wife and kids.. had me rolling! We miss u rodney
Rodney and Carson. Loved those guys.
He finally got all the respect a guy could want! They just don't make 'em like you anymore man! Miss you like crAzy!
R.I.P. you bad motherfucka!
Hard to believe Rodney would be 101 years old this year..2022
R.I.P. R.D. you were one of a kind
What an era. I feel lucky to have been around and old enough to have fully experienced it. NOTHING like it these days .
The first time I saw him was at Caesars Palace in 74 and the show was great. The last time I saw him was also in Vegas in 1998 and still as funny.
Carson loved dangerfield I think he had him on the show around 60 times.
Wonder who he had more? Rodney or Don Rickles.
He was brilliant!
Dam rodney was 71 when he did the ladybugs and was still looking good
Hes the best!!! crazy about Rodney😄😊
RD broke the Guinness Book of World Records most fixed ties.😃
The smirk on his face when Johnny brought up his burfday.
King of the One Liners with the King of Late Night. Nothing better!
The more I watch these guys, the more I miss them!!
This is in NYC, before the show moved to Burbank,Calf..
Denny Mcfastlane Didnt they move earlier that year?
@@fredwilson1188 they did
@@fredwilson1188 I feel that's how this was brought out, because the NYC stuff was largely erased
It took time for Rodney and Carson to figure out who each was. But they nailed their rhythm in the late 70s, when Rodney accelerated to like 75 jokes during his set, then 55 during the sit down -- all in 10 minutes. The '79 set is so hard to top.
man do i miss these days.........................
Funny name, Dr. Boombatz. In Czech language, it means and would be written as Bumbac and that is actually two words - bum and bac. One meaning a boom (explosion, loud crash noise), second then falling and landing hard on the ground. Wonder where Rodney came with the idea for this name but it’s quite funny on another level for me, especially naming a doctor like this.
A true comedian and talented actor who is miss by his fans world wide and I bet in heaven he has everyone laughing
One of the greatest comedians that ever lived...timeless comedy...can make anyone with two braincells
Laugh!🤔🫡🇺🇲
The King of Kings to the one-liner, genius was Rodney!!
I love him. Funny and honest at the same time. He's just funny
This is great, early Carson clips are so rare.
Pure class people really enjoying a clean act
