Sean I really appreciate the clarification on whether original SC4 users will be able to use the new app. I really like my SC4 but sadly I'm not surprised that the company ignored the current owners. Their customer service and firmware updates have been atrocious. That said it's par for the course that they never updated the original app and will probably not give original customer access to the new one.
Yes, I have the original and find this upsetting that they can’t update previous model, last thing I’ll buy from these guys! Maybe next year they will bring it something else… terrible service from the start and just continues!!!
Thank you for the excellent review and comparing to other similar ones. I ended up buying the SC4 Pro because I will use it most at the range and the display of data on the unit is key to my decision. Again, thank you for the discount code.
Thank you for this review. FINALLY! I couldn’t wait so I bought one without anyone reviewing it. It seems accurate and I love the portability. Hope you or someone can do an actual comparison and accuracy with the big boy launch monitors
For a nice level surface, I used small piece of scrap plywood. At home at the net, I use a 4 ft strip of scrap plywood and bump it up against my little launch pad and that puts the SC4P a little more than 5 ft from the tee on the pad. You can level it with crap in your bag. I use usually use some old balls under the board.
I am one of the people who bought the original SC4 and thinking they would just update the software later on, it is very upsetting to know they came out with SC4 Pro and I am not able to use the updated app.
The new range ap looks/seems like it took a lot of inspiration from the Skytrak one (minus the wedge matrix, etc). That would be great to have too, obviously but for free this is still really nice overall.
used the trade in program sending in my 6 month old sc4 in on a Friday. Following Wednesday I got an email with a code for 250 off my new sc4 pro. Also got 20 bucks off the case. Very fast response from Skycaddie and I'm pumped to get some side spin. Had to get my ipad hooked up as it's ios only till mid Jan so they say
These monitors that rely so critically on alignment should put a laser line and crosshair in the top of the device to project on the hitting surface. Would be a super cheap and great upgrade, as it will tell you where you need to place your ball for best results.
Nice review. I purchased the SC4 Pro on Black Friday thinking that I was getting the best deal. Obviously not! I've primarily used it indoors, and have been pretty happy with the results. As stated, you'll get the occasional wonky read, but for the most part it's pretty accurate. This is my first experience with Voice Caddie, so based on feedback here from original SC4 users, and their experiences, I'm a little concerned about the fact that the E6 software doesn't work at all. Not sure how you launch a product, and bundle software that isn't compatible with your device at launch. If you don't care about simulated golf, this is a great product for the price in my opinion. However; if you want to play on courses, stay away until they figure out the issues with E6, or add other simulator options.
Totally get that sentiment, although I think it should be rolled out any day. I dont know exactly how testing with third party software goes, but I know that e6 was also not available at launvh for the Garmin R50 which costs $5k. I'll update my content, but I'd expect to see e6 on the SC4 Pro by the end of the year.
Sean, thanks for the great video. I’m going to use the device predominantly outside at the range. I’m concerned that I’ll buy the sc4 pro and next year they’ll release a new device, etc. vs sticking with something like an mlm2pro which I know rapsodo will continue to update as part of owning the unit. Impact vision is a super nice feature. Thoughts on sc4 pro vs mlm2pro as it pertains to camera features and device sustainability?
Yeah I ended up returning my SC4 mainly because of the app :( but honestly can't see that the SC4 Pro is any better because also had the same issue with anything less than 110 yards. So I just ended up upgrading to the FLightscope Mevo Plus
Nice! The Mevo Plus is fantastic and definitely more of a professional, full featured experience. If it's in the budget, it's generally going to be better across the board.
Great information and price. I am going to wait till after the PGA show to see if the price on this comes down or better software updates. My other question is why is spin rate so important? I am concerned with distance, carry and how the club head contact looks as well as apex.
You might have a very minor helium leak in your studio. You’re 4-5 notes higher than normal hahaha. Just busting your chops, thanks for this review! The sub-$1000 market is a great space for LMs these days.
Just bought the sc4 pro combo off amazon on Black Friday for 579 so far she’s worked great just hoping they get a way to get awesome golf on it and I’d be stoked. Just one downside so far I’ve noticed in my garage my shots are about 25 yards shorter than if I’m using it outside. Guess I have to tinker with it a bit. Would have used your link from a video or two ago but I had Amazon gift cards to use up
Thanks for being honest re the skulduggery of what VC have does to SC4 owners. Like others I won't be buying their products again. Promises were made to "fix" the old app and spin rates. Promises promises. I guess that's the way it goes but as a consumer I will only be purchasing updatable products going forward.
Thanks Sean, been eagerly waiting for the review of the SC4 Pro..... Are you planning to do a side by side more in-depth comparison with the top end launch monitors e.g. GC3/BLP. GC Quad etc..... that would give a real good indication of accuracy and really hoping you can do that..... As a mid-handicap social golfer on the verge of purchasing a LM, I am strongly considering the SC4 Pro or the Mevo+..... How would you compare the setup/alignment experience between the 2 units, focussed especially on Range usage?... and in your opinion, is the price difference worth going with the Mevo+..... somehow the the FlightScope App just seems old and outdated in presentation and layout to me, but I don't discard the Mevo+ as a purchase option if it if far superior in all other areas....... Your thoughts/opinion would be very much appreciated.
Yes, I'd like to do a more thorough comparison, but dont know for sure when I'll get to it. Setup/alignment is going to be similar on the two devices. Both take a little bit more time to make sure they're aligned properly. We're not talking huge differences, but it maybe takes me an extra minute or two vs. similarly priced optical launch monitors. For me, yes the Flightscope is worth the upgrade. Totally get what you mean about feeling a little outdated. Especially when you compare it to the SkyTrak+, for instance, which feels very modern. But in terms of usability, ease of getting data, features, customizability etc. It's still among my favorites to use.
I would like to know exactly what it takes to set up a home sim with the SC4. computer, software, cables projecter ect (not the screen, surround or mat)
"So how does that work technically?...I have no idea!"🤣🤣 The shitty customer service by swing caddy in cutting the old SC4 users from the new app, means this is an absolute hard pass from me. IMO any launch monitor that does not provide data on club path, face angle and angle of attack is more of a fun toy (nothing wrong with that), than a real game improvement device. Personally I would spend the extra $200 on the Square golf launch monitor
Thanks for the review! Would you choose this over the Mevo (the tiny one) assuming that you only plan to use it at an outdoor driving range? (no indoor practice area unfortunately)
With those off shots, where it doesn't read correctly, is it possible it's picking up the ball of the person in the bay next to you. With my SC300i, I will occasionally notice that it reads slightly before/after contact, and it seems to align with a golfer next to me. I'm wondering if it can pick someone else's ball that was hit during my swing. I think I've even seen it pick up someone else ball during my practice swing.
The app stuff is a joke, but assuming that nothing changed on the hardware front on the sc4 pro is definitely worth scrutiny. I'm sure they added some sort of sensor or upgraded a sensor in the pro.
Worried that if I buy the SC4 Pro now, an SC4 Pro+ will be released in under 12 months which calculates club path / impact position. Real low thing to do to their existing users
It's a fair concern. For as impressed as I am with the new device, definitely bummed that they haven't done more for existing users. That said, I wouldnt expect to see a device from them in this price range with those features anytime soon.
As far as I know there's no dedicated PC compatibility. Although you may be able to download the mobile app to your computer and potentially be able to use it that way? I just imagine the user experience won't be great if that were the case.
Thanks for this. I have been waiting for this review since Voice Caddie launched the new SC4 pro version. With the device, E6 connect is only available for Apple ios users. Do you know if they intent to upgrade to include Android?
Hi there! I tried to buy from your review to get the rebate but since I’m in Canada they switch to their Canadian distributor (Caerus brand) and SC4 Pro, even when exchange rate has been adjusted, is about 170$Can more expensive! That’s a shame, to say the least…
So if you were buying this to occasionally use the app but predominantly intend to use it just off the unit's screen at the driving range, do you see much/any advantage between this new one and the old one in that usage?
Not a huge difference, honestly. But considering how all signs point to them abandoning the original, I'd pay the extra $110 simply for future proofing and making sure I get any firmware/software updates that come out.
0:24 Instead of showing us text: * I MEANT THE ORIGINAL SC4 NOT SC4 PRO Why not cut out the "PRO" sound/speech you made? I would think that would be easier. Would present a cleaner final version too.
Without any real knowledge - I'm guessing new processor, faster memory or something along those lines are why you can't use the 'old, identical' hardware.
@@dallenlee4773 If it was just SW I'd think all it would take is a version update. Since the video showed a lot of "improved graphics" probably has new motherboard, keeping the case and display to save cost.
Not gonna lie. I OWN the authentic in that same exact color and I STILL got it wrong! And I even use the bag every single day! Only goes to show how damn good these kislux are visually. Now guessing which is the fake by feeling them both in my hands is another story.
Yess! Was waiting for this review!
Hope I covered everything!
Same!!!

Thanks for this video. I like how thorough you are.

Tips using the alignment stand: Install the 3 screws bottom up. Ditch the rubber gromets. Makes deployment faster and clear view of screen.
Thank you for this review. FINALLY! I couldn’t wait so I bought one without anyone reviewing it. It seems accurate and I love the portability. Hope you or someone can do an actual comparison and accuracy with the big boy launch monitors

This thing is awesome. I was able to trade in my sc4 to get the sc4 pro 50% off. Android app available in January.
Can you provide more details on how/where you traded up?? Thanks! @jchung323

Sounds good, I just purchased an SC4 Pro a few days ago.
Patiently waiting for a square golf launch monitor review 👀

E6 isn’t compatible with the SC4 pro yet. I contacted E6 and they said they are working on it but don’t have a completion date yet.

In practice mode you can set a specific target range 1-165 yards and dial in specific distances.
I don’t think you are able to go below 13 yards, per the specs list on the product page.
@@Evan_Rodgers You’re right. Target Distance Range : 15 yards to 195 yards.

Make sure it didn’t get accidentally set to meters rather than yards. I had that happen and it confused me for a few minutes

can this thing works with android phone and other android devices ?
How is the accuracy with long irons, woods and drivers?
Thanks for the review! Would you choose this over the Mevo (the tiny one) assuming that you only plan to use it at an outdoor driving range? (no indoor practice area unfortunately)
Yeah personally I'd choose this over the regular Mevo, but would take the Mevo+ over it all day long (obviously thats a very different price point).
How would you rate the sc4 pro to the MLM2 pro ?

@breakingeighty the Garmin R10 has those features albeit calculated by an algorithm.
Did you have any issues with launch direction outdoors? I just got mine and predominantly everything reads right.
I was able to download the S app to my MacBook, prior to purchase. Is there any confirmation from VC, or other users, that this is PC compatible?
As far as I know there's no dedicated PC compatibility. Although you may be able to download the mobile app to your computer and potentially be able to use it that way? I just imagine the user experience won't be great if that were the case.

Nah, the Eye Mini Lite is a different beast and is fantastic in it's own right. But that's to be expected as it's a very different price point.
