Hello! My 'Fingerstyle for the World' guitar course is FINALLY out! I've poured all my knowledge and experience into this course to take your playing to the next level. Check it out at academy.neilchanmusic.com/p/fingerstyle-for-the-world-level-1!
tabs froze me for almost 2 years but i used to always sing solfege and go through other guitar theory so once i discovered how its done i improved in 3 weeks, although i figured things in a day but i needed muscle memory so hence 3 weeks. thanks Neil, you helped me alot and im greatful
Hey Harrison, I'm really happy to help you along. 3 weeks is no time at all, which means you improve fast! Hope you can continue practicing and enjoying the process. Solfege has enabled me to do so much more as a musician and I'm sure it can for you too :)
Hi Neil, I’m so glad that I found your channel. Your content is very high quality and your videography has the modern UA-cam style. So the content is not only quality, but keeps the viewer engaged. I started my fingerstyle guitar journey in 2021 at the age of 29 and have been taking lessons since then. I’m currently at a plateau because I cannot create ideas or imitate other musicians’ ideas on the guitar. I hope that your system with solfege and scales is the answer and I can push through before I am too old! Also, do you have any tips on how to match the correct solfege syllable to the note i hear? I can find the correct solfege note on the scale based on scale degrees and sing the note with a random sound but cannot match what I hear to solfege. Thanks again for making these wonderful videos! Vincent
Hey Vince, thanks for your kind comment! Yes I hope you continue to enjoy learning fingerstyle guitar and never give up :) To answer your question, it really boils down to doing lots of solfege/scale exercises. Another really useful exercise to do is to sing an entire song in solfege. You can slowly work out the solfege, write it down, then play the recording and sing along but in solfege. Try this with simple songs eg. nursery rhymes first, then move on to more complex ones. It may not make much sense at first, but over time your brain will automatically connect pitches to solfege syllables. Eventually when you hear a note, you won't just hear the pitch, but the solfege syllable along with it. That's the AHA! moment you are aiming for.
@@freitasdearaujojoanito9496 ok, I simply meant it out of respect for you :D Lovely to hear that you like music, I do too of course! Hope you're keeping safe and well

Neil thanks for sharing your wisdom.
You’re most welcome!
Thanks for sharing the techniques 🤟
Most welcome!
😊nice job
Thanks 😆
Great tuto!
Hey Tapha! Great to see you on UA-cam and glad to hear this lesson has been helpful 😁
Does singing the actual words to the melody count? Or should I sing the la, la … like you did in the video?
Yes it counts, as long as you sing the right pitch. the important thing is the pitch you sing, not the syllable/word
👍
Nice 😎
Thank you sir 😊 are you a musician too?
@@neilchanmusic I think don't call me sir because I'm still a student 😊. I am not a musician, I like listening music when I study.

Thankyou..♥️☄️

Thanks!
hello neil how many scale are there in guitar
Sir how long does it take to practice before you can instantly transcribe a Melody into solfege.
Do you create the melody first in your head before playing it on the guitar?
I do both, sometimes in my head first (often singing it out), sometimes on the guitar first. I think I do in my head more often though!
Neil can you tell me what's difference between major and minor ?
A minor scale has a flattened 3rd, 6th, and 7th scale degree compared to a major.
@@neilchanmusic major scale is a saa ree gaa maa paa dha ni saa, then minor scale is also saa re ga maa paa dha ni saa ?
Major sounds Happy and Minor sounds Sad or the otherway around I forgot.
Awesome video. ...
