Racing games for the Playstation Vita.

- I have spent some time trying out racing games on the ps vita. And although they are not my favorite games to play on the vita, there is a few good ones.

Ridge Racer Vita is two things at once:
A great looking launch title for the PS Vita that leverages the online functionality of the system coupled with the now standard Ridge Racer PSP-style physics the franchise was lauded for in 2004-2006.
A shallow game with limited progression, little single player to speak of, 30 FPS for a series that always prided itself on 60 FPS since like Ridge Racer V at least, and doesn't progress the series forward in any significant way.
Ridge Racer Vita is basically Ridge Racer V two without a single player mode, trading it in for a weird ass multiplayer faction-focused mode that ultimately meant jack shit. The technology imo is impressive but Cellius (NOT NAMCO, they only published this but it was developed by Cellius which was a joint Sony and Namco studio formed back in the day) definitely didn't have the time needed to actually make this game work well which is weird because they were probably one of the first developers to get dev kits.
Let's just say, Uncharted Golden Abyss didn't get development kits until early 2011 but Bend Studio had already done a ton of the pre-production work on PS3 systems. There's a good chance Cellius ran into some issues getting Ridge Racer working on Vita. I think technologically and gameplay wise, they 100% nailed it and probably ripped the engine straight from RR7. But they failed to make a real game around it. You have to be a Ridge Racer fan to get much enjoyment out of it unfortunately. If you don't like the handling model, there's nothing here.

The racing game library is very shallow on the Vita...
Vita could have been an awesome console, too bad Sony couldn't take it higher.

Ridge racer, wrc 4 + 5, f1, need for speed, modnation racers, wipeout, motorstorm rc, mud, some superbike game, sonic racing horizon chase and probably some other I am forgetting. Seems pretty decent to me 🤷🏻♂️

that's the whole racing game library of Vita.
@@EngiNetioni might have forgotten one or two, but still more than shown in the video. Wipeout, Sonic and motorstorm are 3 really good racing games. So are nfs and wrc 4. Not counting the ps1 and psp racing games, I just think the vita is not lacking in good and fun racing games
@@stijnvonck1431 I was not saying there's no good racing games on Vita.
What I was on about is Vita has great potential for more great racing games, shame they didn't use even half of the potential there.
Who knows, maybe we could have TDU2, Burnout Paradise and etc. on the Vita.
If you set up your controls to make R gas and L brake, and then assigned the faced button X and square as shift up and shift down and then circle for E Brake, I find this control scheme works perfect for this game and I can race a lot better!!

I had need for speed most wanted back in the day on my Vita between 2014 and 2018 and during that time I played it so much I ended up deciding I would get the platinum because it was only one of the few trophies I was missing!
And it did take a lot to get because some of the trophies require you to make a friend online, and then beat them in certain methods to unlock trophies, along the way to getting the platinum which nowadays would be useless ..
I still dont have Most wanted for the vita, but played it a lot on the ps3 back in the day. And yeah, I believe i got the plat aswell. I really enjoyed that game too.
I finally got my Vita & access ect. (Thump grip protection case as well screen protector and still need a Vita sim card but for most part I enjoy my games I have is borderlands 2 MLB14 the show as well I have it for my playstation 4 pro cross-play & do have one knows how to remote play off your Vita?
awesome, the ps vita is great. But if you mean the vita through your ps4, i dont think thats possible, but i havent used the remote play much, so im not sure.
WRC4 on the Vita is the Best one imo?!
I never played three as the fourth one had just came out when I bought it for my Vita New back in like 2016 or 2017 I can’t remember? But I finally got to play WRC five on the vita, and while it does have nice looking graphics, I don’t think it is quite as good?
Although I would argue that the Vida versions of these games are better and more fun than their console counterparts because I have WRC four on my PS4 pro and you cannot slide the car in into an around corners as good as you can in the vita version ?!?
I also have quite a few of them on my Xbox and none of them is good ..
Its been a while since I played these games now, but i think WRC4 was way more enjoyable than WRC3. 5 I don't really remember at all now lol.
As for the console versions, i haven't touched any of them.
@@ruud-racing I do not think the console versions are as good, they all feel stiff and I had the wheel for the PS4 pro and for the Xbox one X, a Good Wheel- a $300 wheel for the Xbox and an $800 wheel for my PlayStation, and each of those games on console just feel way too stiff…
RIdge Racer is one of teh best racing games out there for the vita/psp the drifting is ridge racer specific.....never played the original ridge racer??
i never did. but i will still maintain that ridge racer for the ps vita is terrible, there just isnt any content.
@@ruud-racing Yes, but thats normal for Ridge Racer, the first game had also just 2 or 3 tracks, the "drifting" is ridg eracer style, and i would strngly recommend to drive in first person. try it again, youll see it makes alot of fun, or try the first one to. Its higly adictable.
@@ruud-racing - The PSP versions of Ridge Racer (1 and 2) are excellent, with a full campaign mode and they run at a buttery smooth 60fps. The Vita is terrible because it doesn't have a single-player mode and it's the only ridge racer game since the original PS1 days that runs at 30fps.
Psp: portable ps2 and ps3 games

my condolances.
Bruh dissing the drifting mechanic of Ridge Racer is just insulting the franchise in its entirety. Ridge Racer can be enjoyable. But as for the Vita RR, you are better of playing the PSP version cause it has more content. Vita and Unbounded are practically disowned by the Ridge Racer franchise.
Drifting mechanincs are one thing, but ridge racer was too extreme for my liking. But my main complaint would be the complete lack of content.

I was talking about the physical copy, as i do like to own my games in physical format.
