What a magical performance. Everything about it is delightful. Just close your eyes and let Ann’s voice and the medieval sounds take you on a mesmerising journey.
You can say that again! Dreamboat Annie, Magazine, Little Queen, and most of Dog and Butterfly. Started to deteriorate after Fisher left, although… I like Bebe’ Le Strange to a degree
Ann and nancy are obviously incredible, but for one time can we give an appreciation to howard leese? He went from piano to keys/synths, from guitar to mandolin. Maybe Fisher was more skilled on electric guitar, no doubt, but howard is also a big part of this band success, he plays almost everything, his versatility is close to nancy's one, just hidden in the shadow. credits to him
Love seeing Howard here with Ann and Nancy reminiscent of bygone days. This HBO special was so good, reminds me that I should watch it again. When she sings (Up on) Cherry Blossom Road, I get goosebumps!
@@Juno58 I'm glad you mentioned Larkin Poe, I agree they're good too, very underrated sister combo. Had they been around when Heart came out we'd be talking about them in the same vein as Ann and Nancy Wilson.
@@PredatorKingdom That's what i think too. Listen to LPs great "Mad as a hatter", sounds similar to Dream of the archer. ua-cam.com/video/dGEjbJkxFhs/v-deo.html
This song defines HEART for me. If one song made an ill-fated 1977 radio gig worth the time and heartache, it was this one... I was the only host on the album rock station who paid attention to this timeless beauty. Before all of us were canned for a disco/top-40 "special sauce" format, at least people in an out-of-the-way place had their ears exposed to something truly golden for 18 months, before the compressed noise with shouting dee-jays returned. . . What's a mandolin?
Pete Simon ; Your comment deserves more attention/credit...... COMPLETELY understand your comment!!......Like the 'Bullhorn' with Stone Temple Pilots......understood.
"Little Queen" was the first LP I ever owned. Got it for Xmas in 1977 when I was 12. Played the heck out of it on my first sound system, a lousy Emerson FM stereo/turntable. The songs from LQ have followed me as I have aged and while I've grown older and the Wilson sisters have too, the songs have remained as powerful, expressive and magical as they did over 40 years ago. Santa brought "In Through the Out Door" the following year and while many tunes from that album are still extremely memorable, LQ will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I have to be honest, I just don't like most women's voices but the Wilson sisters are utterly fantastic. Never a false note and their lyrical content proves they are not man hatting trollops but kind hearted, soulful human beings that have great insight into all of us.
Quite possibly well beyond the most accurate live representation of a recorded song that I have ever heard!!! There is no bullshiting here! What you hear on the album, that's it. These people can really do it ... for real! They can actually get up on a stage and do it live in in person exactly the way you heard it on the album!
Still got the 8 track cassette, and album. No 8 track deck to play the tape anymore though. OMG to slip back in time to those days. I didn't know it then, but it was heaven on earth.
The time they are keeping in this song is just purely MAGICAL!! I'm not sure if was Roger Fisher playing with her or not but.... whoever it was...He was able to lock eyes, hearts and souls while playing this song together. The people watching and listening to these INCREDIBLY GIFTED artists/musicians making magic like this, are so lucky. I've never had the pleasure of watching and listening to them in concert but I can only imagine the feeling of being in the presence of greatness!
That's Howard Leese, he was with in the band from 1975 to 1998 mainly playing additional guitar, keyboards and doing orchestral arrangements in the 70s, then lead guitar in the 80s and 90s. He's had the longest tenure in the band from any member aside from the Wilson sisters.
This was as close to Prog/Art rock any women ever approached in the 70s and the only ones until Lana Lane in the 90s. This was superb and as good as anything out there at the time.
Anyone notice how much nicer Nancy's mandalin was over that ovation , it drowned out that ovation and made it sound like a bunch of thin tin..and I thought ovation was the best.. would love to have bought that instrument from her sale

Great comment for a great song
I love this song like no other. Unbelievably beautiful.
Those mornings working on projects next to the lake, with this playing in the background- Burned forever in my mind.
Ridiculously unpopular song, considering how good it is
This is Heart's "Battle of Evermore" Great acoustic stuff.
@@MrMusic193 Well said!
This is not big...but still great. my epic song ...it's often how it works.
Agreed! Ridiculously underrated band! One of the greatest voices in rock ‘n’ roll. So unique so talented what a great band.
Great song from one of my favorite bands! Originally on the 33 Little Queen, I played the hell out of it.
These lyrics went into the crematorium with my loving brother. We
Sang them and wrote then out for him. My Archer. 1993.
Back in a time when the entire album was worth listening to.
Yes, Little Queen was one of their best albums! Not one bad song...
Exactly
You can say that again! Dreamboat Annie, Magazine, Little Queen, and most of Dog and Butterfly. Started to deteriorate after Fisher left, although… I like Bebe’ Le Strange to a degree
Badass tune ! Superb playing! Great lyrics! Great vocals!
And two beautiful women... !
One of Hearts finest songs! I abolutely love the sound of a mandolin.
Anne's singing is incredible every time I hear it! Spectacular voice!

The best sister duo of all-time they just understood the science of music and put it all to perfection!
Also good is Larkin Poe. Two sisters too.

Ann can hit some serious notes. One of my favorite songs by heart.
I was 16 when this came out.
Lyrics and melodies sent from heaven.
Imagine singing back up for Ann Wilson...it would be like playing one on one with LeBron James.
These ladies know how to rock. Heart rules!
Ann Wilson ahhh I grew up with her voice in my speakers I thank God for that

Simply stunning
Nancy Wilson is perfection.
May be my very favorite song of all time.
I love Nancy Wilson with all my heart there I said it
