@@condimentking414 you will not believe how much I rant about how good Sun King is on abbey road and how it was influenced by this song. Consider this my marriage proposal to you.
When my Dad died, we had this as one of the songs to play during his funeral. To this day, i hear it randomly on indie radio stations and buskers on the streets and i know he's still around. A beautiful, perfect musical piece.
Peace to your father. May he rest in peace in a sonic paradise. When you said you hear it randomly on indie radio stations, there's a beautiful version of "Albatros" by Lee Ranaldo and J. Mascis that you may check out eventually.
Pete Green and Gilmour are probably my two favorite guitar players I remember an old Gilmour interview back in the 90s, and one question was “What song from other artists you wish you had written yourself?” To which he answered quite rapidly “Albatros from Peter Green, that song is perfection”
What ur listening to is Peter Green , thru David Gilmour ‘s rendition of that master who was originally inspired by the Deep South players before recording devices were even a dream..
That was absolutely an amazing tribute of this song. Love Peter Green's work and Gilmour was bloody fantastic as were the rest of the musicians. Brought tears to my eyes it was such a good job.
Proud to have one thing in common with David Gilmour: the facial expression while playing my instrument. Love this song. Peter Green, thank you for all the great music.
Andy fareweatherlow is always playing with the Best bands or musicians in history, never really gets in the limelight himself, just loves playing with all these musicians and recording with them, he's brilliant, and he's Welsh,GWLAD 👏🏴😃
Absolutely stunning! Incredible ensemble of musicians and always great to hear Gilmour on slide. Had the pleasure of seeing him perform at Pompeii back in 2016

first time I heard this song was on Dee Time in 1969, although this is a good rendition there is still only 1 person who plays this song with true emotion aund that is the man who wrote it Peter Green, listen to his version with splinter group.
I first heard this when fishing at Chisel Bank with my departed brother Tony. It was a precious moment for me on a warm Summer day with the Swannery behind us.❤
This instantly reminded me of King Crimson's song "Matte Kudesai". Same mellow tempo, same relaxed drumming, cymbal swells. A wonderfully easy thing to listen to. The only thing missing was Adrian Belew's vocal. Gilmour's lap steel playing is very expressive.
This was played to death on the canteen jukebox in Croydon college, in 1968/69. The b side was Jigsaw Puzzle Blues, which also had a tremendous amount of play time. Happy Days. :-)
Hello from France. It 's Magic and marvelous. I love all songs and your group. Vhen i hear your song, i fly in my head and my heart flies towards my love, Sophie de Belfort, in France. I dream of dancing with her to this song.
"Albatross" es una de las composiciones más bellas y logradas del gran Peter Green. David Gilmour es un guitarrista sensible y de buen gusto, uno de los más indicados para interpretarla
When David Gilmour is one of the "friends" that performs with you, then you know that you have made it in life.
Es un grande!, maestro de maestros
David, amigo dos amigos.
And Mick Fleetwood being one as well, yes he who played on the original.
And having a strong influence on The Beatles to create "Sun King" speaks volumes of how transcendental yo were.

One year ago today I lost mine too. The first Fleetwood Mac album with the cat was one of his favourites. The music keeps our loved ones alive

I couldn’t agree more!! David Gilmour plays the guitar like it’s an extension of his own body. His playing always gives me chills.

I have always thought that Pink Floyd's Marooned is of the same quality......
Played this at my mum's funeral, even the celabrant was moved to tears. 😎 Miss you mother
What a troubled soul, I hope you have found eternal peace Peter Green.
My grandmother wanted this in her funeral. Bound in a wheelchair for years she wished us to picture her flying like a albatross. We all did ❤
That was absolutely an amazing tribute of this song. Love Peter Green's work and Gilmour was bloody fantastic as were the rest of the musicians. Brought tears to my eyes it was such a good job.
Je l'aime bien ❤❤❤❤❤
It amazes me how, with just a few notes, Gilmour makes it sound as if it were something from a late 60s-early 70s Pink Floyd album.
Mr Gilmore never ceases to play with so much class and talent. Such a musical treasure amongst so many jems.
I loved this in 1968 when I was 7 years old. Still love it now. My main man, David Gilmour, doing the fills helps. Tears.
Proud to have one thing in common with David Gilmour: the facial expression while playing my instrument.

Listened to this every morning during the last month I spent with Dad. Calmed me down. 😊 Miss you, Dad. Happy Father's Day everyone

Jeez man that's probably my favourite live album by gilmour and I love to watch it on UA-cam, so so fortunate to have been there!
Lucky you! best concert ever 😊
Nice tribute to Peter Green.

Excellent 😂
Somebody in the UA-cam comments section mentioned that he looks like a Bond villain, and honestly, he could be both. 🤣
He is at this point, he could wrap a bath towel around his hips, before shaving his beard and walk on stage performing comfortably numb.😀

I could listen to it on repeat for hours.
Rick Vito, such an underrated guitarist ! I think he's brilliant.
Underrated the most overrated word on YT.
He and Billy Burnette replaced Lindsey admirably in FM. Unfortunately radio wasn't friendly to that lineup.
They should’ve brought him on instead of Mike Campbell. I think Fleetwood Mac fans would’ve preferred that if it had to be someone other than
Lindsey.
Dave absolutely nailed that
Sublime. One of Peter Green’s Mac’s most enduring songs… Love Gilmour’s slide playing!
Can't think of a better song where the cymbals played such a superb part.
Gilmore is just great in this song...very subtle touch .. perfect performance
Headphones on, lean back, close your eyes and let that wonderful sound wash over you
🙏♥️🎶🥰🎶
This song brings back memories of my pet albatross, Kincaide. A true gentleman. Slept 17 hours a day and never complained.
And he could probably play a mean lap steel guitar into the bargain.
Rick Vito and Andy Fairweather Low on guitar, Dave Bronze on bass, Zak Starkey on percussion, and, of course, Mick Fleetwood on drums.
Dave Bronze I remember him playing with the Hamsters 25 odd year ago fantastic player he did a few Clapton albums too I believe
