I’ll also touch on some AirPod Urban Legends and give you a few tips.

I have Seborrheic dermatitis, no matter how much I clean my ears. My AirPods will constantly be filled with ear wax and skin cells.

For anyone who’s annoyed that the cotton buds aren’t cleaning the AirPods to the extent that it retains the Audio, I highly recommend you lightly scrub over the airpod mesh with a toothbrush(not a used one obviously)as the little bristles on the brush are great for scrubbing away the thin layer of wax covering the AirPods mesh. Trust me, you may not tell that there is a layer of wax still there but it is there, you won’t be able to properly clean your AirPods if you don’t remove that thin layer of wax as it definitely decreases sound quality if left there

my problem is that the tooth pick method removes most of the exterior earwax but then presses the rest into the mesh, which clogs the airpod even more over time. If only there was a way to remove the earwax from the mesh without damaging the components.

Tysm I don't have a airpod but I used the tips to clean my wired earphones 😌 it worked so well now it sounds way better would 100% recommend!
Absolutely nailed it. Scrape across the mesh in all three ports of each earbud. You can follow with the alcohol dampened cotton swab, but ALWAYS follow with a dry cotton swab to soak up any excess alcohol that may be in there, which will also have wax and stuff dissolved in it. Cleaning lint? Get some surgical tweezers. Very fine point and if you are good, you can sharpen them down to an incredibly fine point. I got mine to 5 microns (yeah, I measured it).

Your ears can be spotless, but earwax develops even in an hour, and if you have your airpods in, ofc it'll get on there.

Having no earwax is actually bad for you because it’s there to protect your ear from bacteria, fungi, insects, etc. That’s how I got an ear infection.

And people have different types of earwax. I have the solid type of earwax that just falls off on its own so i never clean my ears. But my boyfriend's earwax is the wet gunky type, he uses cotton swabs almost every day! Comparing our earphones, he has the dirtier one.

People think its gross to have that much ear wax. I have this problem with every set of earphones. I have to remove the mesh usually on normal earphones. Some people like myself produce too much wax I clear my ears every day but makes no difference. So I know its gross but this helped a lot for me :)
They act like they don't understand that ear wax is 100% natural, normal, and generally doesnt cause any problems. But those making those kind of comments surely clean their ears with Qtips, which is a huge no no.
They have multiple kinds of ear flushing kits.
Have you ever tried that, if you just produce too much wax?
Or warm oil droplets in the ears? I usually go with that one. Simple, not dangerous, and feels good. Just slowly melting wax.
People have different views on peroxide, but it also works really well IMO.

Dude thank you for the tooth brush tip. It really worked. I had tried the q tip before but it never worked. The only other way I knew was to remove the screen and burn the wax off but I did not want to mess up and ruin my airpods. Thanks man!

Jon! you are the MAN! For about 2 years the left side of my AirPods didn't work well. I could hear from it, but the volume was so low, is very almost complete silence from that pod.
I tried almost every cleaning method possible. Q tips with alcohol or hydrogen-peroxide, plastic toothpick and it still didn't fix the issue.
Thats until, I saw your video and I tried cleaning the AirPods using your new toothbrush method. Like magic, after 2 years, my AirPods is working like brand new. Im also going to buy and clean with phone soap as per your recommendation.

My AirPods are a few months old and I clean them after every time I use them. I also find not pushing them too far in to your ears helps. Mine still look brand new

Thanks for the video. My daughter took one look at my AirPods and told me they were disgusting. I never looked at the tip of the AirPod that goes in my ear. I used the toothpick part of a floss stick since it is softer than a regular toothpick to get the ear wax out of the tip. All clean now!

Did you know that when something is in your ear like an air pod that it stops the airway to your ear so it gets hot and moist on the inside so the reason you have earwax is because you trapped that airway out of you ear
