Thanks for the video, I’ve had my airpods go through the wash probably 5 times and they still do their job, yeah the quality isn’t as good as brand new bc of the fact but still, highly resilient!
It is not anything nasty. It is just simply Iron that gets attracted to magnets

The muck on the Mike was actually the the fine wire grill destroyed by the tooth pick, looked like hair but was actually wire from the ex mesh.

Before wet cleaning it dry clean it loosen all the dirt then you can wet clean them plus On the wet cleaning your brush won’t get gunk on it so fast and easily
Does rubbing alcohol work?
I had some jeans stain on the case and I used some Vim with a some toilet paper and it removed it all in 2-3 wipes :)
Something that really helps getting that tough dirt is using nail polish remover. Beware tho since it is highly corrosive and can affect the paint of ur airpods.
Try isopropanol

The gray thing by the mic is actually like a layer of something to help protect it. It isn’t hair lol mine did the same exact thing.

Thank you for your video and for the time you took to share it, I would like to give you a note if you allow me, it is not good to blow electrical devices with your mouth, the air you blow comes out with particles of saliva with salt and that is not good, they are corroded by salt.

I think those hairs oj the microphone were not hairs but that was a mesh grill for the miscrophone
my airpods went through the wash 5 times and still worked
all i had to do is pair them with my iphone and play high frequency tones
Mine were clean clean and somehow ended in the washer and now they are super dirty and nasty looking, nothing worked so hopefully this works

You can use MULTI PURPOSE CLEANER or GLASS CLEANER (like Windex) but I hate they way the smell
How do you get rid of those magnetic dust?
You can not remove those magnetic dusts. Some are already scratched into the plastic from the cover rubbing over and over
It is scratched into the plastic, if you insist on removing, probably go with 400 grit sandpaper? Kind of risky though of sanding off too much plastic. Becareful!

The apple airpods are all white and they are very hard to keep 100% clean
23:50 “when it’s clean you should see white like that” bro it’s not clean it’s just that your mesh that protects the opening is messed up and it’s gone. It’s usually black mesh in normal like the other openings.

I had older airpods that I accidentally washed through the washing machine! I put them in rice to dry for about 1 week and they worked!!!

We use 65% proof alcohol (rubbing / cleaning alcohol). Alcohol at this strength does not break the airpods (I have clean my airpods like this about once per month).
Isopropanol. The ignorants call it alcohol or rubbing alcohol. U definitely do not use ethanol

Less strong probably vinegar and water. More strong probably (acetone) nail polish remover.

I don't think scubing the black stuff with a razor going to clean it, because that part is magnet and I think you need different tool to get rid of dark stuff with a magnet

The black stuff is metal fragments like iron that can come from dirt and debri which adheres to the magnet it’s a pain to remove 😕

The dust/dirt are stuck good into the plastic because of the opening closing friction. No way to simply get them off, have to use razor blade or sand paper.
If that were true how comes the dirt is only round the magnets?

They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.

The airpods are made of plastic, I would just use Windex (glass cleaner) to clean the outside plastic surfaces.
