The Geopress weight comes in a little over one pound after first use and is somewhat bulky. The containers are solid and well made. Maintenance and cleanup are simple. I just need time to see how it is going to perform.

Thorough explanation and review. We tried one of these couple years ago (our Sawyer was getting tired) and were disappointed with its performance after relatively few trips so moved to an MSR trail shot. After watching this, we might have to pull the Grayl and give it another try.

I'm still testing the Grayl. I go out about every two weeks with it, but I mostly use water in running streams that is clear. I have filtered some standing water. So far the press time has been between 10-15 seconds. I did see where some hikers had the same problem as you. Thanks for the comment!

I’m trying to find a backpack that has a water bottle holder on the side that can hold this bottle. Any recommendations

I'm not sure the type of pack you're looking for, but I have a ULA Ohm 2.0 pack that has two side pockets. I can fit two 1L smart water bottles in one pocket. The pocket is not as deep as the bottle, and if you bend over far the bottle could fall out. You can remedy that by using the cinch strap on the side to secure the top of the bottle, or in this case the Grayl. The only problem with the cinch method is that you would not be able to just reach back and grab your Geopress for fast access. The Duluth Rambler pack as shown in this video can haul the Grayl in its side pocket. Here is a link to the ULA site. Thanks for watching my video and posting the question!

Maybe its not necessary, but just to be safe and make sure i don't use the filters beyond the recommended 350 presses, I keep a simple hand held counter, every time I use the filter I click it to keep track. Once I reach 350 I replace the cartridge and reset the counter.

That's a good idea. I don't have 350 presses on mine yet, but I'm probably pushing close to 75-100 just guessing. The amount of time it takes to press a full container has not changed much; it may be a little slower. I didn't know if you could get 350 presses before it just got too slow. I was waiting on it to slow down; but I guess that all depends if your filtering dirty water or clear running water. Most of what I filter is clear running water. There are times when I only have access to standing water. Thanks for posting the comment and watching! Hope to see you on the next one.

I have tried different types of water filters, but the Geopress is my favorite so far. It's a little bulky, but it works and has not failed. Thanks for watching my video and leaving a comment.

They are a really good filter / purifier but I got rid of mine... too bulky and heavy IMHO.
