When I went through 3 front loaders in 9 years, a Kenmore, a whirlpool and an LG (the absolute worst of the 3) I walked into my local family owned appliance store and said “I’ve had it I want an old skool durable top loading machine” the owner of the store walked right me to a Speed Queen top loader. Best purchase I’ve ever made. 10 years later my Speed Queen pair is churning away and my clothes were never cleaner. I highly reccomend!
I bought a Classic Speed Queen Washer & Dryer (knobs, water level selector, no lid lock) in 2017 as a retirement gift to myself. Love, love, love my Speed Queen’s!!
I am so excited too My ONLY hesitation is it’s not a removal agitator. Comforters & larger blankets can’t get clean unless u can take it out. A twin blanket or bedspread, maybe.
Those are for the laundromat in one of those behemoth commercial front loaders, but cost a bit of change to wash and dry there. Then there's the hauling to and fro depending on where it's located. I have several pieces of bedding packed away, currently unusable, due to the need for a good laundering.
My wife retired from an Assisted Living company and they do a lot of laundry every day. She said over the years “corporate” would dictate that all locations had to remove the washers they were using and replace them with whatever brand they got the best bulk deal on. She said typically the washers didn’t last out the year to 18 months. You get what you pay for. Eventually, they replaced their washers with Speed Queens and, when she retired, they had lasted twice as long as the others. When our 4 year old washer broke down for the third time, I won’t mention the brand, we got a Speed Queen. That was six years ago and we’ve never had a problem with it.
“Corporate” often tries to reinvent the wheel. Businesses that depend on reliable commercial machines usually wind up with machines made by Alliance Laundry Systems, the people who make Speed Queen.
@@HarperandKnowles My apartment has Speed Queen washers and dryers on the property and I kiss them every day because they do the job properly. They're better than the Maytag washers and dryers on the dorms.
This is everything I needed to know about the best washer available ! I regret not getting a speed queen years ago. I would not have gone through so many washers through the years! I enjoyed this video listening to this good ole guy saying the honest to God truth! I am definitely sold on the speed queen! Going buy one today! Now I know which one I want!🎉❤
We bought the Speed Queen TC5 series and can't be happier. We go through about 5 loads a day and expect it to last a long time. Growing up, my family operated coin laundromats so I am used to real washers made of stainless steel and real commercial parts. Speed Queen is the only brand that comes close to commercial washers.
We had a repairman tell us our 18 year old Maytag was dead. He did not sell, just repaired. He told us go get a Speed Queen. Not cheap but very well made. He did tell us to get the electronic board instead of knobs. We love it. So many friends have gone with the fancy front loaders and hate them.
Thank you for your positive feedback on the video! I'm glad to hear that you've had a good experience with your TC5 washer. It's great to know that you've been able to wash a king size blanket without any issues. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and thanks for watching too! I'm sure others will find value in your comment when trying to make a decision on purchasing a new washer.
Thank you for your comment. I was wondering if would be able to wash my king size blanket. My Maytag died and I'm definitely considering Speee queen. I want an old school washer.
Nice Vidio I have been a Speed Queen,Whirlpool, and Maytag repairman for over 40 years. Just retired and I have the classic SQ washer in my house. Yes they are costly, but you get what you pay for. That is why I drive Toyota trucks for over 40 years. Keep the videos coming, they are right on!!! Joe (Idaho)
Thank you for your comment! It's always great to hear the perspective of someone who works directly in the field. You're able to see first-hand which machines stand the test of time and frequent use. Your endorsement of Speed Queen for their durability and serviceability aligns well with the experiences many others have shared. It's insightful to hear this from a professional who interacts with a variety of brands regularly. Your input is invaluable, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your professional perspective with us. Thanks again!
I'm looking to buy my first set of washer and dryer. I know nothing about brands. I know he said speed Queen was his pick. I have about $1,000 budget, do you have a good recommendation for me please. I don't want to buy a set of problems but there's so many choices I don't know what to do
Here is another video that compares two of the most popular brands. Amana or Ge Washing Machine: A Service Technician's Recommendation ua-cam.com/video/-ceFPe9Kxis/v-deo.html
The local appliance store had cutaways of a few popular washer brands and when I saw how much better a Speed Queen was built, I bought one. Great machine. Our friends in Australia have a Speed Queen as well and for the same reason.
My Speed Queen front loader set is eighteen years old now and works perfectly and looks great too because I car polish it twice a year. It’s as reliable as an anvil.
Nice video! We've had our Speedqueen washer and dryer since 2008 (15 yrs) and couldn't be happier. They don't shift around on the floor and the one time we had a problem, the washer was quickly and inexpensively fixed. The technician said he hardly ever got calls for Speedqueens and he was surprised by how easy it was to fix. One of the best decisions we've ever made when it comes to appliances.
I can testify to that too. I almost never get a call on a Speed Queen. I think only twice last year. Once the guy called and before I could get there he called back and said that his wife had forgotten she unplugged it to use the vacuum in the laundry room and the other time the lady’s circuit breaker was bad and needed replacing.
I'm a service tech, but work on other type of things and I get asked questions like this all the time and what brand or unit should I buy. I really like this type of video and hearing from a technician's point of view vs a sales person. I found your channel a couple of weeks ago and subscribed within the first 10 seconds.
I've been using a Speed Queen washer for 15 years, and have never had it bang around or go out of balance EVER. If you're undecided about choosing Tc5 because it looks too aggressive for every load, the Bulky cycle has gentle agatilon.
Hi Chip, I’m a fellow washing machine repair guy (40 years experience down here in Australia 🇦🇺) , not sure if you guys get access to Fisher Paykel products, but the Fisher Paykel top loader in my experience is far superior. Here’s why, there’s no gearbox, there’s nothing to rust, the spin bowl can be easily removed for cleaning (just 5 screws) it uses full water wash, and with the completely variable speed motor it can do the most gentle wool wash to the heaviest work-clothes washing. Also the spin speeds are completely variable from the slowest gentle spin to the fastest to realy dry the load. And available up to a large 10Kg size Any how, it’s great to see your videos 👍🇦🇺🤟
Hi, fellow washing machine repair guy! Thank you for sharing your insights and experience with Fisher Paykel products in Australia. It's interesting to hear about the features and advantages of their top loader, such as the absence of a gearbox and the ease of removing the spin basket for cleaning. The full water wash and variable speed motor sound like valuable features for achieving different washing needs. I know their products are sold here in the US, but when I did a search, I found no dealer within 100 miles of me. Unfortunately, Fisher Paykel products aren't readily available in my area, making it challenging to source parts when I get an opportunity to service one. I appreciate your feedback. Connecting with other technicians worldwide is something I enjoy doing through my UA-cam channel. Keep up the excellent work, and thank you for watching my videos!
I can’t believe I only learned of a Speed Queen yesterday. I am a 40 year old with two children and a husband that works as an elevator constructor. My Maytag went to crap after 6 years. I thought the machine was a lemon when I first saw how little water it uses. Some loads didn’t even smell like it was ever washed. I accused my husband that his body odor must be so bad, the washer couldn’t even wash the stench off. It turns out, our washer just sucked. I just ordered a speed queen and I am so excited to use it 🙌🏼
@@CarniBarbie I'd seen them at coin laundries. and had seen them as prizes on '60s and '70s game shows, but after a series of really lousy HE machines from Whirlpool, GE, and LG (three machines in six years) I bit the bullet and bought the TC5 the first day it was available. Expensive, and there was a problem with a squirrel that somehow got into the wiring harness, but it was an easy DIY fix. I expect it will outlast me.
I'm glad to hear that you've had such a positive experience with your Speed Queen set! It's always great to hear from satisfied customers who find the investment worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I hope your washer and dryer continue to serve you well for many years to come. Keep watching my channel for more tips and advice on appliance maintenance!
This past Labor Day, Home Depot & Lowe's had a big sale on all their washers & dryer. We spent twice as much and got a speed queen. Best decision ever! The wife is very happy for the first time doing our laundry at home.
That's impressive to hear that your Electrolux washer and dryer have served you well for 25 years! It's a testament to their durability and quality. Keeping appliances properly maintained and using them according to the manufacturer's guidelines can significantly contribute to their longevity. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with your Electrolux appliances!
Great review! I've had several washers over the year. Most recently, a HUGE tug Samsung. Biggest mistake ever! Could not balance the load, wash knotted up and would not fill to to top when needed. I discovered the TR7 and the best purchase ever. Built like a tank, great warranty, and tons of options for wash cycles. People have to realize if you have filthy clothes, then you need to pre-spray, add a detergent enhancer, select a pre-soak option then an extended wash! This machine can hand any type of laundry from delicate to heavily soiled. The build quality of a Speed Queen is just amazing. Every time I put a load of wash in, I just smile. It's going to out live me at 66 years of age. Interestingly, it is amazing quiet until the drainage period. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $500 to get this machine. You will pass it down to your kids!
Samsungs have a tendency to grenade after 5 years and in spectacular way. The metals used in their machines interact with each other causing rust and metal erosion. Speed Queen front loaders are the best models. Tried and true technology along with great cleaning ability. They share parts with the top loaders, making things far cheaper to repair.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Speed Queen TW01 washer and dryer pair! It's fantastic to hear that your appliances have served you well for almost 20 years without any issues. This is a testament to the durability and reliability that Speed Queen is known for in their products. Your positive feedback will undoubtedly be helpful for others who are considering purchasing a Speed Queen washer and dryer. It's always great to hear real-life experiences from long-term users, as it provides valuable insight into the appliance's performance over time. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. Thanks for watching my channel, and happy laundering with your Speed Queen pair!
I bought a Speed Queen TR7 2 years ago after much research. Thanks for the confirmation that I made the right choice. I had a 20 year old Kitchenaid washer that was toast. I am very happy with my new washer.
That's wonderful news! Your research definitely paid off. The Speed Queen TR7 is a fantastic model, so it's no surprise you're pleased with your choice. It's always reassuring to hear when a product lives up to its reputation. Thanks for sharing your positive experience. I'm sure it will help others make informed decisions when it comes to choosing their next washing machine. Enjoy your Speed Queen and thanks for watching!
Do you find that the TR7 gets your laundry really clean? I've read many negative comments about the TR series and mostly positive comments about the TC5. I still wound up ordering the TR5, which is supposed to arrive later next week. (There still is time to change my order to the TC5, if need be; my husband wants us to give the TR5 a try.)
Our TR3 is just over 4 years old. It runs like a charm and gets our clothes clean. The auto fill is spot on, yet you can also choose your preferred water level manually. Also with Speed Queen, when you choose hot water, that is exactly what you get, unlike other brands that mix cold water in on the hot setting. I have had no issues with the Perfect Wash system. Everything that goes in dirty comes out clean, including the blanket that I thought was ruined after the cat had a nasty "accident 🤮" on it. So I am sold on Speed Queen.
I've had a top loading Maytag with the old style mechanical timer that has lasted for twenty years. Every single part is replaceable but I haven't had any problems with any of it.
Speed Queen products have always been in my life and I still use Speed Queen home equipment. My family have been in the laundry business and parts business since the 1950s, I grew up watching my Dad run a laundry and dry cleaning business, and my Uncles and Cousins who are still in the commercial parts business regionally. Very well built, dependable analog products that are easy and cheap to repair. If mine breaks, I'll fix it myself or call my Cousins to get parts and service. American made products that are well worth the money.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with Speed Queen products! It's always great to hear about the long-standing relationship and satisfaction that families like yours have had with a brand. Your background in the laundry and dry cleaning business certainly adds credibility to your endorsement of Speed Queen's build quality, dependability, and ease of repair. I'm glad to know that you continue to support and trust American-made products like Speed Queen. Your perspective provides valuable insights for others considering investing in these appliances. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks for watching my channel and sharing your story!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video ! You are very passionate about your trade and sincere ! Are LG tin can was has been on crack for a month off & no not draining finally called a repair technician , he told us to buy a speed queen . It was going to cost over 400.00 to fix it 4-5 years old. We went and bought a Speed Queen will get it next week the store said they Can't keep them in stock. we got the TC5003WN . Thank you again for your video !!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you find that your TR7 is good at getting towels and bedding clean--I mean, really clean? I just ordered the TR5 and am considering changing my order to the TC5, because I know that it can fill with more water--if needed--than the TR series and has agitator action. (I know that I can wash things on Perma Press or even Delicate, if I don't want them more agitated than necessary.) I also see a lot of negative comments about the TR series, as compared to the TC5; then I run across the rare positive one like yours and wonder to myself, "Maybe I should stick with the TR5 and see how I like it."
yep. They remind me of the durability of the old simple Maytags. The spin cycle doesn't rock all over the place like our dead(five yrs.) and the sheet metal is old school. Thick.
I used to own a major home appliance business and when I got a service call to repair a Speed Queen washing machine, it was an old one. I serviced hundreds of them over my 30 years in business, and the only problem I encountered that needed repaired was either a pump or belts replaced.
When we got our last washing machine, the only reason I didn't buy a Speed Queen was because it was too expensive; so I just decided to save money over time, and when my 'cheapo' washer died, I would treat myself to the best. Unfortunately, the Kenmore Model 80 that I bought 30 years ago is still humming along, working just fine. It will probably out live me. It's in my will, as they don't make 'em like that anymore, so even used, it beats the crap out of the vast majority of consumer grade machines. Kenmore model 80. One of the best designs ever.
I think my model 80 washer and dryer are 30 years old and still going strong. I do have a Speed Queen stackable at my shop bought new in 2004 that get lots of abuse and has also never needed repair.
My Kenmore washer 70 series was left with the house when purchased it back in 1991 and still going strong. Only diy- purchase dogs, lid switch and water pump
Agree! We bought our home in 1991 and when thinking of a washer and dryer, I just remembered all the Speed Queen equipment in Laundrymats and decided to get that equipment. The washer finally gave up after too many saddle and horse blankets blankets that threw the weight off too much. We did replace it with another Speed Queen. Just a couple years ago, the Gas Dryer drive motor finally quit after 30 plus years of reliable service. I did replace the rolling stock all of it about two times being the rollers and belt. I also replaced the igniter once. Beyond that we loved both machines. When the dryer went, it was during covid and we couldn't find a Speed Queen dryer anywhere so we went with another brand. Go with a Speed Queen, good equipment. We are still on the original heating and air system that this house was built with which is Trane but I service that twice a year to maintain it.
I agree with pretty much all of the comments above. I'll be 75 this coming August and have some perspective on these things plus I have at one point, actually repaired washers and dryers. I've had many kinds and types of washers over the years from old world Kenmore and Speed Queen wringer washers, to high performance Kenmores - which I found to be no better than any of the other junk out there today. I've also had Maytag and Kenmore direct drives too - some of the most reliable washers ever built in America. But today, even with the high quality build of Speed Queens, there are a few features I'd change. First, make sure that the fill control (a rubber diaphragm behind the control panel) is adjusted before installation so that the tub can fill almost to the very top of the machine - this enables very large comforters and bedspreads to be washed easily with less strain on the components of the machine. Secondly, replace the digital controls of the cycles with the older style electro-mechanical timers - yes I know those things eventually die, but they are a heck of a lot less expensive to replace than most digital electronic control boards. Plus, you can stop or start a load at YOUR will, not the memory board's will. If you have a little think about it, in an atmosphere of moisture and detergents (whether it's liquid of powder) that can easily land of very sensitive contact points on a digital board and corrode them and make them fail - no matter how hard a manufacturer tries to isolate those boards from the environment. I also believe that if the spin speeds were increased even by 30%, drying time would be reduced drastically. And finally, (I know I'll hear comments later about this one but we all have our preferences) I like a machine to be able to rinse in warm water. From a physics standpoint, when you add heat to any system, it works faster and better. Yes I realize I'm being somewhat wasteful with water and the energy it takes to heat it, but washers that used to offer these options worked beautifully and cleaned clothes like a dream. And I also think it's a pity that Frigidaire washers(made by General Motors) are no longer available. Now there was a washer that had heft, designed to really clean clothes super well and strength. If they were around today with the added features of digital electronics they'd be just perfect. But alas, here in America corporate greed and avarice hand most of us mediocre products to satisfy stock buy backs, excessive salaries for executives and high returns for the stock holders.
MY Mom had a Frigidaire Washer she bought new in 1952. She replaced it in 1978. I had a very well used Frigidaire washer in 1973. I was 3rd owner. I had to replace it in 1984. These washers were WONDERFUL! I NOW HAVE A SPEED QUEEN & GOT ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER!
I agree with you 100% on everything you said...except that part about the added features of digital electronics at the end...I think they don't need ANY digital electronics...
You know the replacement parts are priced to induce new sales by the brands. Control board (clock) for 250+, plus labour on a 400-500 washing machine. And no-one doing board level repairs. And when you find a business to do it. Time makes it just as expensive as swapping outright.
TR5 owner and with 100% confidence I highly recommend SpeedQueen these washers are a must! Absolutely love it! We chose TR5 because of its simplicity and durability.
Do you find that your TR7 cleans and handles larger loads really well? I just ordered a TR5 and am sweating over the idea of changing to the TC5, while there still is time; then I come across the rare positive opinion about the TR series and I'm back to thinking, "Maybe I should give the TR5 a chance." 🤪
@@PrayingForTruth House of 7 absolutely no issues with TR5. Really do not see why you’re putting it down. Only thing I can see that would make it better would be if it were 100% mechanical. But they conformed to EPA standards.
@@district5198 I'm not "putting [the TR5] down;" it's others--a decent number of them, going by comments/ posts that I've read--who put it down in comparison to the TC5. It's one particular woman's TR experience that makes me pause. She found that her laundry wasn't getting as clean as she'd anticipated; so, her husband disabled the lid-lock mechanism, so that she could peek on a wash cycle at various times. She did this with all types of laundry, wash cycles, and water levels--over a period of 1.5 years, she said. She found that bed sheets never got fully submerged; instead, a portion of them would "balloon" near the water's surface and remain that way throughout the cycle. (Again, I'm going on her very detailed comment about her experience.) I am glad to know, though, that you've no issues with the TR5; everyone should like the washer that they use. 😁
My Grandfather owned laundromat's he only bought Speed Queen He said they are the best he was right. I have one I bought during the pandemic because it was the only washer I could find not cheap but love it.
I just got a set of Speed Queens. I'm an appliance flipper in OKC. I've got 18 washers and dryers in my current inventory. Speed Queen is da best. Good job on the video.
I was told this same thing about 10 years ago by a service tech of 30 years. We bought Speed Queen and wouldn't buy anything else. Best washer and dryer on the market IMHO. Great video. Your video will save folks a lot of money.
It's wonderful to hear that you've had such a positive experience with Speed Queen for a decade! Your endorsement truly speaks to the longevity and quality of these machines. It's such a delight to know that my video has been beneficial in informing others about these reliable appliances. Your comment underlines the very reason why I create these reviews - to help viewers make informed decisions that will save them money in the long run. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and support!
We´ve owned our Speed Queen washer and dryer for 7 years without any issues whatsoever. The only things I do to ¨maintain¨ them are a) I leave the washer lid open to allow it to air dry between washes, and b) I regularly remove the dryer´s bolted down lint catcher screen to clean out the lint caught below the accessible portion of the basket.
I repaired washers and dryers for Sears. And I had 2-speed queen calls in one year. And both instances were nobs that were broken, lol..... both washers were over 20yrs old!
I own a Speed Queen TC 5 now for three years no problems yet. It replaced my forty year old Maytag that still looked like new but it major catastrophic failure. This is the only one that came close to the Maytag. All the others were flimsy junk including the new Maytags . The salesman even said all the major brands won’t last five years. So I bought the Speed Queen. Salesman said it was the only one that comes comes close to my forty plus years old Maytag. He told me a lot about all the manufacturers that I already knew and suspected.Btw I just came across your channel so I hit the sub. button
We just bought a Speed Queen TR5 so far the little bit of wash I did it's doing alright also bought a Speed Queen dryer waiting upon its delivery my two neighbors each have one and my husband's best friend has one they all love them and swear by them I'm a newcomer to this washer hope I'm around long enough to tell everyone how great it's going to be

Remember to follow the recommended maintenance procedures to keep your appliances in top condition for years to come. Thanks for watching my channel!
Thanks for a great video. My parents always bought Maytag, starting in the '60s, and they were outstanding. Unfortunately, my Maytag MCT front-loader has been a disaster. Door seal leaks, 90-minute cycle times, grows mold like that's what it was designed to do... I'm now anxiously awaiting delivery of my new TR7/DR7 pair.
Maytag isn't what it used to be..it used to be the equal of Speed Queen, but was better known. Now, it's owned by Whirlpool and is pretty much just another consumer washer...for that matter, Whirlpool isn't what it used to be, either..they were never the best, but they used to be very decent...and they made most of those old Kenmore washers that people used to love....
@@dyer2cycle Overhere the ranking is German made, i.e Miele, some of the Siemens/Bosch, Then French/Italian/Spanish made (includes German brands). Now Slovenia with TCL having acquired some traditional European brands like ASKO of Sweden. Then Turkish shit, like Beko, Vestel. And then the LG/Samsung and Chinese made shit.
I’ve heard great things about Miele machines. I’ve never seen one in my area of the USA. A testament to German engineering, indeed! Thanks for watching my channel.
Several years ago I asked an appliance parts store employee what is the best washer out there, and this older lady said hands down, go out and buy a Speed Queen. They're built commercial grade quality, and built in the Unted States in Wisconsin I believe. It's a top load washer and it's great with no hassles, or surprises. I bought a washer prior to that, a Sears side load washer...what a piece of crap. I'll never buy anything but a Speed Queen the rest of my life. THUMBS UP!!!
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Speed Queen. It's great to hear that you've had a reliable and hassle-free experience with their top load washer. Speed Queen's reputation for commercial-grade quality and being made in the United States are often cited as strong selling points. It's understandable that your negative experience with a different brand has solidified your trust in Speed Queen. I appreciate your feedback and the thumbs up too! Thanks for watching!
That is awesome! Too bad Whirlpool bought the brand and decided to build them to sell instead of to last. The ole Maytag Repairman has his hands full today! Thanks for watching.
I have a 20 year old Kenmore stack washer/dryer. It still works great and now I know exactly what to replace it with if the repair is too much money to bother....Thanks!!
We’ve had our Kenmore W&D set for 26 years. One repair call on both over that time. The repair people say not to ever get rid of these machines, as they are work horses that will go forever.
That's impressive longevity for your Kenmore washer and dryer set! It's great to hear that they have served you well for 26 years with minimal repairs. Appliances that can stand the test of time are a testament to their durability and reliability. Repair professionals often have valuable insights based on their experience with different brands and models. If they recommend keeping your machines because they are known to be workhorses, it's worth considering their advice. Having appliances that are built to last can save you money in the long run and provide you with consistent performance. However, every machine has its lifespan, and eventually, even the most reliable appliances may require more repairs or maintenance. If the time comes when your Kenmore set needs significant repairs or begins to show signs of declining performance, it may be worth exploring newer options in the market. It's always a good idea to research different brands, read reviews, and consider your specific needs when looking for a new washer and dryer. Whether you decide to stick with your trusty Kenmore set or explore other options, finding a reliable and durable machine will ensure that your laundry needs are met. Thank you for sharing your experience, and if you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask!
I had mine for 22 years, & LOVED it! Started making very hard stops, which I feared would break it. Had the tech come, he was pounding the "spin tube" but it wouldn't come out...was rusted to the frame or whatever. I finally said just stop. Even if it had run well, after all that it probably would've leaked. SO, decided to buy a new one. Figured I'd replace the dryer, too, & start with a matching set like I did in 2001. I went online, researched, bought a GE set that looked like a regular washer & dryer --not electronic. WRONG. It makes the most annoying beeps & little tunes, & has a VERY obnoxious rrrrk rrrrk rrrrk rrrrk sound when agitating. I'm going to call Lowe's delivery & have them pick this set up. Am going to a local appliance store, that usually sells Speed Queen, to see if they have a good set for me. I wish you could HEAR the machines running in the stores...which is why I'm on here, to try & find out how different machines sound!
Thank you for sharing your experience and frustration with the GE set you purchased. It's disappointing when a new appliance doesn't meet our expectations, especially when it comes to noise levels and annoying sounds. Researching and visiting a local appliance store that sells Speed Queen is a great idea to find a set that suits your needs. Hearing the machines running in person can definitely help in making a decision. I hope you find a reliable and quiet set that brings back the satisfaction you had with your previous Speed Queen. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask. Best of luck with your appliance search!
I bought an LG Slim Stacked Washer and Dryer combination. 4.5 cubic ft on the washer and 7.5 cubic ft on the dryer. It fits nicely in my apartment closet that was designed specially for stack units. Mine, it seems huge but it really a nice size that make it possible for me to wash and dry almost anything I own. Specifically large enough to wash and dry a King size comforter sheet pillowcases and Bath sheet towels. I really love it. It has a lot of bells and whistles, like steam cleaning in the dryer. A special small load setting, Turbo washing, spin cycles that really get a lot of the water out. By far the best washer/dryer I've ever had, and I have owned 4 of each in the last 50 years. I hope this will be my last. Cost was about 1800.00 for the whole thing. Bought at Home Depot in January 2021. Not one bad load ever.
I went to my local appliance store and bought the Speed Queen TC5. Had it for about three years now. The only thing I don't like about it is, it doesn't offer to do a small load of washing. You can pick the regular size load and the large load but sadly no extra small load for washing only a few items. I would also like a bigger capacity, I have a hard time getting a queen size comforter washed. You can get one into it, but it doesn't have enough room to really get clean. Next time I will definitely be buying one that has the three options on load size and a larger capacity.
It’s worth going to the laundromat to use a front loader Less clean than a top loader but only way ur getting a washer with agitator removed. With the agitator, ur wasting ur time washing a comforter. We have a new last year top loader that the agitator removes from but it’s very unusual. Ofc u can buy the worthless top loaders with no agitator but then none of ur loads get clean!
My Kleenmaid by Speed Queen after 31 years was still working however a spring underneath snapped but she still worked… louder than a jet plane on spin 🤣. It was the best , I still have the matching dryer KED453W….Brilliant!
Had a set of the new type washer and dryer.lasted about 3 years. Called my local hardware store in 2016, asked was there a washer without electronics. Speed Queen at the time did. Got a washer and dryer, been going great since 2016. A few years ago Speed Queen put some electronics in. The guy at the hardware got ordered 25 of the old ones without electronics. Did not take long to sell them.
Hey Bert, Speed Queen has indeed incorporated more electronics into their newer models. However, it's important to note that these changes have been designed to improve the functionality and efficiency of their machines, without compromising the robust and durable construction Speed Queen is known for. As with any brand, there might be some cases of component failure, but these are not necessarily the norm. Remember, regular maintenance and proper use are crucial to ensure the longevity of your appliances. If you have any further concerns or questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for watching!
I have a older Maytag direct drive top loader, 15 yrs and counting. Replaced a few hoses and a solenoid inlet valve, that's it. Still churning and if I need a replacement, it's going to be a Speed Queen.
Your Maytag has certainly given you a good run! It's testament to how a well-maintained machine can last. It's clear that you appreciate quality appliances, and I'm sure a Speed Queen would live up to your expectations when it's time for a replacement. Remember to check out my Speed Queen review videos for more insights when that time comes. Thanks for watching!
Over the years, after multiple big box store washers with miserly water control, water not hot enough and clothes not getting clean, we purchased a TR7 Allows sufficient water, hot if desired, yet is kind to delicate clothes. Cleans clothes very well. Built to last, this is how a real washing machine should perform. No other brand comes close.
Wow, a good experience with the TR7! This is the model that Speed Queen gets the most negative criticism about. Most people can't wrap their head around the water through the clothes action. Thanks for sharing your positive experience with your machine, and for watching too!
Previously bought a brand new $1,500 Samsung front loader... Nothing but trouble. Techs came out over twenty times. Then bought a simple Kenmore top loader, no issues until 5 years in, stuck in "wash" mode... Had a bunch of expensive parts replaced, still didn't fix problems. Just bought a 10 year old top loading Speed Queen... 🤞
Yes, this is correct, SQ is built to last! I am in year 13 of my TC5 predecessor, and it hums along without complaint or drama. It was certainly more expensive for the 'base' machine than the other gizmo filled units available at the time, but this investment has paid off several times over. The old fashioned controls and steel transmission give me great piece of mind! Other family members who purchased machines about the same time are on their 3rd machine. Enough said!
Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad to hear that you own a Speed Queen and agree with the points mentioned in the review. Speed Queen is known for its quality and reliability, and it's great to hear that you're having a positive experience with your machine. If you have any specific features or aspects of the Speed Queen that you particularly like, feel free to share them. Thanks for watching!
It's fantastic to hear that you're enjoying your Speed Queen set! There's no doubt that they're well-known for their superior cleaning performance and reliability. Wow, that's impressive! It's testimonies like these that underscore the durability and longevity that Speed Queen machines are known for. Having a dryer from the eighties still going strong is no small feat. Speed Queen's commitment to building reliable appliances is certainly evident in your experience. Thanks for sharing this, and for continuing the Speed Queen "American Made" legacy in your home!
I've had SQ's over 27 years, both Amana and Alliance. Just got the TR3, and really like it, and it is very quiet too. It washes fine, and is better with full loads like blankets. One weakness, as with any washer, is the main baring and seal. My 17 year old needs both, and can be DIY for under 150$. I like its old style timer. I plan on fixong it too. The Amana SQ also had seal failure after ten years. I have a working SQ wringer, and an older Amana SQ that I got at Good Will for 50$, it works fine. So I have four Speed Queens now. My mom had the original ME SQ from the 60s, it needed a drain pump. They're simple for DIY, better than anything else, except perhaps old school Maytags. Finding used SQ's are scarce, but avoid other used brands. Usually problems are user error or external. Our water flow was low, took too long to fill, and caused resets. Found out that we had lime scum in the supply valve and older hoses. Cleaned out the crusty stuff, and now it has 52# pressure that can fill 5 gals in 45 seconds, works great now.
Thank you for sharing your extensive experience with Speed Queen washers! It's great to hear that you've had such success with their products over the years, and that you find them reliable and easy to maintain. Your story definitely highlights the importance of regular maintenance and the potential for DIY repairs to extend the life of your appliances. It's also helpful to know that your TR3 model is quiet and works well with full loads. Your experience with addressing water flow issues further emphasizes the importance of checking external factors that can impact the performance of your washer. Speed Queen washers have a long-standing reputation for durability and ease of repair, which is why they continue to be a popular choice for many consumers. Your satisfaction with multiple Speed Queen models is a testament to the brand's quality. Thank you for watching my channel, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. Thanks again for sharing!
I used old Maytags until it started getting difficult to fix them. I bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer two years ago and I don't work on washers and dryers anymore.
I have 70 series Kenmore top load. Still going with no repairs. I know I have it and the dryer at least since 2000. I did have to replace the heating element in the dryer a few years ago. Old and simple works.
My old Whirlpool is older than that and I dread the day it quits. I have worked on it a little bit, but no big money spent. I didn't know any company was making old school agitator machines. I think I just found my replacement. Hope they still make these when the Whirlpools give out. Could be a while. 😄
Several years ago I replaced my washer and dryer with Speed Queen side/side appliances and I absolutely swear by them. My friends with front load washers are amazed the wash cycle only takes about 30 minutes! And, I've never had a problem with these appliances.
Just wanted to say thank you for the great info. The LG Front Loader died last week. Amazing, on the front of the LG was a label, "10 Year DD Motor Warranty". It went two weeks past that 10 year date. Talk about planned obsolesce! My wife decided on the Speed Queen TR7. Yes, it is a little expensive, but should be the last machine we have to buy. Was installed this morning, she's going on her 4th load already.
I hated my LG washer and dryer from the beginning. I had repair under warranty several times and finally gave up and have been living with the readout only partially lit up. It won't do 5% of the functions but since it will do the minimum I need I just live with it. Until now, anyway. Now I'm looking at Speed Queen and Miele.
I can’t give you any professional feedback on Miele machines, I’ve never even seen one here in central Louisiana. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of parts distributors for the brand either. Perhaps they are more common in your region of the country. Thanks for watching.
@@w.harrison7277 I hear you. We have been living a appliance nightmare here. In 2012 we redid our kitchen because our GE Refrigerator died after 17 years, and we couldn't find a replacement that would fit the space. 2012 - All new LG Appliances, Stove, Fridge, Dishwasher, Microwave. Junk, pure junk - they look great though. 2017 All new Samsung Appliances. More Junk. 2021 New GE Stove, Dishwasher, and LG Microwave (GE didn't make one). The only appliance left was the Samsung Refrigerator. It's a French Door. Wife ripped off the Freezer Handle 3 weeks ago. We just replaced with a GE. Then the LG Front Loader just failed. My wife hated it like you and yours. Junk. So right now we are very happy with the Speed Queen, and all the kitchen appliances. My washer and dryer are a top loading Kenmore washer and front loading Kenmore dryer built in 1971. I was a repair tech, but they seldom have any problems. Both were built by Whirlpool.
Now, I understand how y'all might not say warshin' machine instead of washin' machine. That's just how it comes natural to some of us folks down here in the South. We like to add a little bit of extra r's to our words to give 'em some flavor, if ya know what I mean. So, if y'all need to do some laundry, just toss them clothes in the warshin' machine and let it do its thang! Ain't no need to get all fancy with your words, just keep it simple and easy to understand. And if anyone gives you a hard time about your accent, just tell 'em it's all part of our southern charm! Thanks for watching my friend!
We have a TC3 washer. The only thing, when we press the start button, if it is pressed a fraction of a second too long, it will go into pause mode. We have had to develope a touch when starting the machine. One other thing we have a lid lock and we wished we did not have that. Only good thing about wifi, on freezing cold nights to keep water moving though pipes, you can turn the washer on to do that.
When my 25 year old washing machine was starting to make noise, I went to Consumer Reports on a year when they recommended not to buy any washing machine less than $1000. Waited another few years and found Speed Queen and they had the fabulous "How long can you expect it to last?" calculator. I am so happy that I got one.
Our first Whirlpool front loader had a mold problem that was caused by a design flaw that Whirlpool was aware of but did nothing about (Whirlpool eventually ended up losing a class action lawsuit regarding this matter). Whirlpool successfully capitalized on their design flaw by marketing a washer cleaning product that they falsely claimed would eradicate the mold if used monthly. Our second front load Whirlpool (recommended by Consumer Reports and supposedly now mold free) crapped out after only three years! We replaced it with a Speed Queen TC5 purchased from a local family operated appliance store and so far we love it! I'm hoping that the SQ washer lasts for a long time, but if it doesn't I'm going to buy an old washer (circa 1980s or 90s), probably a Kenmore top loader, and refurbish it.
I bought a Speed Queen when the sales person told me that fire departments buy them. The SpeedQueen is noticeably heavier. Several years later, it’s still running great
That's great to hear! Speed Queen washers are known for their durability and reliable performance, which is why they're often recommended for heavy-duty use like in fire departments. I'm glad you're still enjoying yours after several years. Keep on enjoying your Speed Queen, and if you have any questions or need advice, feel free to reach out! And thanks for watching my channel!
Originally wanted the TC5, because I KNEW it was the best, but it is loud compared to the TR models. Ended up with the TR7, and MAN, that thing is amazing. Best appliance purchase I ever made
Good choice! I still like the TC5 but my laundry room is located so that noise isn’t an issue. My sister has the TR model and she loves it too. Thanks for watching!
I have the Speed Queen TR7 washer and matching electric dryer for almost 2 years now and couldn't be more happier with it!!! I do 8 loads of wash a week and everything that I put into it comes out clean and smelling fresh in just about 42 minute per load and no off balancing, what more could you ask for in a washer???
@@DylBuilder1 May jeans don't get all that dirty but Anything that has stains on it, I pour a little laundry detergent on it rub it in and let it sit for 5 minutes and it comes out clean on the Heavy duty cycle... I use warm water for best results and 3/4 of a cap of All laundry detergent...
The best reply I got asking a technician for advice was "the machines we hardly see". One tip to remove noise is to glue a thin sheet of plywood to each of the inside panels.
Speedqueen are the best by far I would avoid those with push button or digital & go for the old fashioned knob dial type. If you cant afford Speedqueed get a Whirlpool brand top load, Amana with Agitator. Everything depends how much you wash clothes. My Kenmore Whirlpool built are 30 yrs old.
My Speed Queen gas dryer is still running since 1975. Yep, pushing 49 years.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!

OMG, I didn't know there was still a REAL washing machine available! Thank You!!!!!!!

I am so excited too
My ONLY hesitation is it’s not a removal agitator.
I love my 12 year old Speed Queen AWN512. Best Machine I've ever had.
Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like "Corporate" accepts kickbacks.
You should have mentioned the brand that failed so consumers would know.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and for watching too!
They come close to commercial in a home unit, but in a laundry mat or industrial situation, they are the real deal.
5 loads a day?? How many kids you got 😅
We've got 4, 7 different sports between them, and I do about 10 loads per week, including bedding.

And available up to a large 10Kg size
Any how, it’s great to see your videos 👍🇦🇺🤟
Hi, fellow washing machine repair guy! Thank you for sharing your insights and experience with Fisher Paykel products in Australia. It's interesting to hear about the features and advantages of their top loader, such as the absence of a gearbox and the ease of removing the spin basket for cleaning. The full water wash and variable speed motor sound like valuable features for achieving different washing needs. I know their products are sold here in the US, but when I did a search, I found no dealer within 100 miles of me. Could the TR7 handle a king sized blanket or quilt?
Yes. Mine does@@Dana_C3

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your kind comment!
Just bought a TR7....love it! My previous machine (Samsung) was trash!
I’m sure you will be pleased with your purchase! Thanks for watching!
Do you find that your TR7 is good at getting towels and bedding clean--I mean, really clean? I just ordered the TR5 and am considering changing my order to the TC5, because I know that it can fill with more water--if needed--than the TR series and has agitator action. (I know that I can wash things on Perma Press or even Delicate, if I don't want them more agitated than necessary.)
I also see a lot of negative comments about the TR series, as compared to the TC5; then I run across the rare positive one like yours and wonder to myself, "Maybe I should stick with the TR5 and see how I like it."
Get everything clean and u can set it to fill up everytime. Plus u get 2 more years of warranty and it's super quiet
We love our Speed Queen! It's been amazing AND was recommended by our repair guy when our Kenmore bit the dust after 14 years.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
yep. They remind me of the durability of the old simple Maytags. The spin cycle doesn't rock all over the place like our dead(five yrs.) and the sheet metal is old school. Thick.
We bought a whirlpool duet front load in 2004 and it is still working.
They made them well back then! Thanks for sharing!
I used to own a major home appliance business and when I got a service call to repair a Speed Queen washing machine, it was an old one. I serviced hundreds of them over my 30 years in business, and the only problem I encountered that needed repaired was either a pump or belts replaced.
They are certainly built well. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Sadly you can't get spare parts for the belt operated pumps any more
Went through three and finally got a speed Queen. Well worth it
Thanks for watching!
Yes, indeed. They don’t make them like that anymore unless it’s a Speed Queen. Thanks for watching and commenting too.
I think my model 80 washer and dryer are 30 years old and still going strong. I do have a Speed Queen stackable at my shop bought new in 2004 that get lots of abuse and has also never needed repair.
My Kenmore just died, and I want to get a Speed Queen. I have to find a good dealer in my area because big box stores don't sell them.
They are the best that I’ve found! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your informative comment! I’m sure others can benefit from your life experience. Thanks for watching too!
I was talked into buying Frigidaire dishwasher, washer, dryer and fridge Worst appliances ALL OF THEM that Ive ever owned i returned all of them
I agree with you 100% on everything you said...except that part about the added features of digital electronics at the end...I think they don't need ANY digital electronics...
You know the replacement parts are priced to induce new sales by the brands. Control board (clock) for 250+, plus labour on a 400-500 washing machine. And no-one doing board level repairs. And when you find a business to do it. Time makes it just as expensive as swapping outright.
I bought a Sears Kenmore washer and dryer when I bought my house in 2000. Both still working fine. Replaced a belt in the dryer once, and that's it.
Thanks for sharing!
Ahhhhh the good ol days
When appliances worked!
TR5 owner and with 100% confidence I highly recommend SpeedQueen these washers are a must! Absolutely love it! We chose TR5 because of its simplicity and durability.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Thanks for watching too.
@@HarperandKnowles Anytime, our TR5 SpeedQueen is a family of 7 approved.
(Again, I'm going on her very detailed comment about her experience.)
I am glad to know, though, that you've no issues with the TR5; everyone should like the washer that they use. 😁
My Grandfather owned laundromat's he only bought Speed Queen He said they are the best he was right. I have one I bought during the pandemic because it was the only washer I could find not cheap but love it.
Your Grandfather was a wise man. Thanks for watching!
I just got a set of Speed Queens. I'm an appliance flipper in OKC. I've got 18 washers and dryers in my current inventory. Speed Queen is da best. Good job on the video.
Thanks for taking the time to watch it!
Just bought the TC5 in May. Love it! It replaced my previous set of Speed Queen washer and dryer that we had had since 1989!
Wow! Thirty four years of service. You can’t go wrong with that kind of durability. Thanks for watching!
Is it energy efficient? That's my only concern. I do not want our electric bill to go through the roof.
Thanks for sharing Stan. Great tips right here folks!
I bought a Speed Queen in 2009 and it’s still going strong and still looks brand new also. I love my Speed Queen top loader.
That's wonderful to hear. I hope it serves you many more years! Thanks for watching.
Is it energy efficient? That's my only concern. I do not want our electric bill to go through the roof.
I repaired washers and dryers for Sears. And I had 2-speed queen calls in one year. And both instances were nobs that were broken, lol..... both washers were over 20yrs old!
They are built like tanks! Thanks for sharing!
Great video ! I purchased a TR7/DR7 pair today based on your review. Thanks for sharing !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
My family has always been a speed queen user. I bought my set 8 years ago and never once broke down. Clothes always come out clean.
Thanks for sharing! And thanks for watching too!
He told me a lot about all the manufacturers that I already knew and suspected.Btw I just came across your channel so I hit the sub. button
Thanks for the sub, I appreciate the support!
We just bought a Speed Queen TR5 so far the little bit of wash I did it's doing alright also bought a Speed Queen dryer waiting upon its delivery my two neighbors each have one and my husband's best friend has one they all love them and swear by them I'm a newcomer to this washer hope I'm around long enough to tell everyone how great it's going to be
Hello and congratulations on your recent purchase of a Speed Queen TR5 washer and dryer! It's great to hear that your neighbors and your husband's best friend have had positive experiences with their Speed Queen appliances. Their recommendations are valuable, as they can provide a firsthand account of the machines' performance and longevity.
I hope you find the TR5 to be a reliable and efficient washer that meets your needs, and that you'll be able to share your positive experiences with others in the future. Remember to follow the recommended maintenance procedures to keep your appliances in top condition for years to come.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you’ll be pleased with your new machines.
@@perpetual4958 No bulletproof Speed Queens over there, then, without all the unnecessary bells and whistles to break...
To help combat mold, always leave the door/lid open when the washer is not being used. In doing this, I've never had a mold/smell problem.
Thanks for the tip!
I have a Maytag that is 45 years old and it's still working fine.
That is awesome! Too bad Whirlpool bought the brand and decided to build them to sell instead of to last. The ole Maytag Repairman has his hands full today! Thanks for watching.
on the TC series, the agitation is ROUGH, but all you have to do is use the DELICATE cycle and problem solved...that is what i have been using

@@HarperandKnowles what is ' . ' is that fly dirt ? lol
Ha! I donno, I did something strange there!

Is the spin slower on the delicate cycle? Sorry about this answer being so long after your comment.
I have a 20 year old Kenmore stack washer/dryer. It still works great and now I know exactly what to replace it with if the repair is too much money to bother....Thanks!!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for watching!
It’s worth going to the laundromat to use a front loader
Less clean than a top loader but only way ur getting a washer with agitator removed.
Thanks for sharing!
If it works, and people like them, why re-invent them??? Thanks for watching!
Over the years, after multiple big box store washers with miserly water control, water not hot enough and clothes not getting clean, we purchased a TR7
Allows sufficient water, hot if desired, yet is kind to delicate clothes.
I hope your second hand machine will work out for you. Thanks for watching!
Well said, my friend! Thanks for your perspective.
The TC5 kicks butt! I love mine!!
Yes, it does! Thanks for watching!

My mothers Speed Queen ran from 1970 to about 2010. I still use the SQ dryer I bought her in the eighties.
Wow, that's impressive! It's testimonies like these that underscore the durability and longevity that Speed Queen machines are known for. Having a dryer from the eighties still going strong is no small feat. Speed Queen's commitment to building reliable appliances is certainly evident in your experience.

I have 70 series Kenmore top load. Still going with no repairs. I know I have it and the dryer at least since 2000. I did have to replace the heating element in the dryer a few years ago. Old and simple works.

Still running a 1999 Whirlpool gold top loader. Built like a tank, works great. Wish they still made them like this.
Yeah, if people would only insist on quality like they did in the past more manufacturers would change their ways.
My old Whirlpool is older than that and I dread the day it quits. I have worked on it a little bit, but no big money spent. I didn't know any company was making old school agitator machines. I think I just found my replacement. Hope they still make these when the Whirlpools give out. Could be a while. 😄

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. I hope your new machine is everything Speed Queen promises. Thanks for watching!
Recommendation DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG or LG (PS..LG used to stand for Lucky Goldstar. They made cheap AC and Dehumidifiers back in the day. Marketing change Lucky Goldstar to Lifes Good. I guess for them)
@@Frank-in-NY I hate to be unfair to an entire nation, but I simply won’t buy a Korean product again. And you’re right the visual appearance of their appliances stands out, but the quality ends there.
My washer and dryer are a top loading Kenmore washer and front loading Kenmore dryer built in 1971. I was a repair tech, but they seldom have any problems. Both were built by Whirlpool.
That was back when they still made them to last! Thanks for watching!
I already trust this man because he puts an R in Washing Machine
Is the 3 year warranty still effective? If so you should get a tech to examine it.
Thank you so much for taking time to tell us about the Speed Queen. I've never owned one, but intend to look into this washer in the future.
Thank you for watching!
I haven’t found many people that are displeases with Speed Queen. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Thanks for sharing too!
Good luck finding parts as the yrs go on
Parts shouldn’t be a problem. Alliance Laundry Systems is a very stable and thriving company. Thanks for watching!
Our Miele was 17 years old when I performed the first repair, replacing the shock absorbers. Still going strong now at 20 years.
I’ve heard great things about them but have never worked on one. None in my geographic area. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your feedback my friend. I haven’t heard too many people complain about them. Thanks for watching!
hey Robert can I please ask how dirty your clothes go into the machine? I have had much different experiences with dirty jeans.
@@maryrobert80 Thanks! Although I didn't like how mine came out at all, no washer can completely get something clean without a bit of help.
@@DylBuilder1 No, washers are not like they use to be years ago, But this is the closest that I have found to being satisfied with...
The best reply I got asking a technician for advice was "the machines we hardly see".
One tip to remove noise is to glue a thin sheet of plywood to each of the inside panels.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing and for watching too!
Thanks for watching!
We just bought a speed queen today. Classic version
I the Classic Clean is the best one. Thanks for watching!
If they're made the same as when I bought my w/d, you will absolutely love it!
As I am in the market for a new washer, this couldn't have been more timely, thanks!
I’m glad you found my video helpful. Thanks for watching!
I just ordered a new TC5.
I'll be here tomorrow.
Im very exciting and hoping to not have to buy a new washer every 2 or 3 years
I think you will be pleased. Thanks for watching!
