I've owned a 2015 for a few years now and my only valid complaint is the dash cluster being on the tank instead of the bars and maybe not having a tach. I'm about 6ft and I either have to look away from the road and tilt my whole head down or sit with a hunched back just to see the speedometer.
Thanks! I agree! My friend and his cousin actually "made" the slip-on exhaust pipe! That's probably why it sounds different than all the others! Thanks for watching. :)
This is my first bike and drive it on long trips a lot. Mine caps out at 90mph but it does have a lvl 2 exhaust modification. Mine also doesn't seem to vibrate as much as others I've seen though and really only starts vibrating after 75mph
I think it's a fine first bike. I liked getting to enjoy the "old school" feel of the S40 as it reminds me of the old motorcycles my dad & uncle raced. Probably nothing like my dad's old BSA but it has that old thumper feel to it. I agree with the power and vibration notes you made. 85-90 MPH max (sometimes, I just don't feel like pushing it for too long) and the vibrations are worse the faster you go. Thanks for watching and stay safe while enjoying your first bike! -Willie
Mine topped out at around 85 MPH but I never really tried to push it for very long once there. While you might squeeze out a couple more MPH, 85 is about the limit.
@@williewasahippie I love the simplicity of these bikes, one cylinder (simple), one carburetor (simple), belt drive (no lubing, no adjusting). A very maintenance friendly bike that isn't likely to throw you a problem you can't figure out and fix very quickly and cheaply.
Hello Alejandro. Thanks! I agree that it sounds nice. I'm not sure what was put on for the exhaust as I'm the second owner. I've asked but have not heard back.
Hi John. It is a National Cycle Deflector Screen Windshield - QuickSet. I got it from Cycle Gear. Thanks, for watching! BTW: I still have the S40. Not in a big rush to sell it. :) -Willie
Hi There. Sorry, I'm not really sure with the S40.Basics like ensuring your tires are inflated properly and riding at a consistent speed will always help. Not sure about any mods for this bike that would help? It's not like it has an ECU that you can tune with the newer bikes (which already are tuned for good mileage in the first place). Thanks for watching and commenting. :)
Have you done any longer road trips on this. How tall are you and how much do you weigh, I’m 6ft 1 and 250lbs was looking at getting one, want to know if it can handle 65-70mph all day long
My longest rides were probably around three hours in the mountains. It can get up to 85 mph. The vibration and suspension bother me compared to my Ninja 400. I am about 5 ft 11. While it is a little low, that doesn't bother me. Just the vibration in the pegs, handlebars. I think it can handle 65-70 all day though.
It does vibrate a lot. It was my first bike so I had nothing to compare it with until I got my Ninja 400, which is more comfortable and has less vibration. Thanks, for watching! -Willie
do not question this bike. I can rip at 95 mph (150km/hr) for 40 minutes at a time roughly. IF YOUR THINKING OF BUYING THIS BIKE THEN DO IT, ITS AMAZING
Here in Brazil I have a Savage 650 since 2003... 181.000 kms on the roads!!! Perfect!!!
Nice! Someone stole my license plate or it fell off (hard to believe as the bracket is broken!). Hope to get a replacement and ride the bike again!
Proof that you don’t need 1200cc twins to ride on the highway, thank you!!!
True! It vibrates a bit but gets the job done! 👍
to some guys it all about size and ago

That exhaust sounds great!

I was wondering why it sounds so idk.."clean"

Nice I have one no complaints
Thanks! Yes, it will definitely get the job done. 👍
So these bikes top out at about 80mph? Not bad for a one-banger 650.

Thanks Willie, being able to cruise at 65mph with a 650 one-banger is very respectable. Thanks for the video.
@@BillySBC For sure. I was looking at other cruisers that would top out at 75. This one gives you a little more zip when you need it.

We call it one lung
Thanks for your video my friend , and how many mpg does ? just idea ?
50 ish i'm told but just got mine yesterday so dunno yet.
Hi there. 50 MPG is what I've read. I have not really tried to keep track. I just fill it and ride. :)
It’s a light bike, I don’t have a fairing , I can almost peg speedometer. (100) but the wind moves me around! Oh I straight piped
It sounds amazing for a single cylinder, which exhaust you got on it?
Hello Alejandro. Thanks! I agree that it sounds nice. I'm not sure what was put on for the exhaust as I'm the second owner. I've asked but have not heard back.
My friend just cut tubing and attached it!
what windscreen is that?

Any recommendations to make this bike more fuel efficient? Thanks

I’m 6’. I sit on the queen seat, left foot out, right foot on rear peg, 😎
How much vibration?

If it's hitting 80mph, that's more than enough. I think the real limiting factor is the harsh ride, though, not the power of the engine.
Yes. It vibrates a lot and the suspension is not that good!
