The dedication to making a great video is exemplary!
The camerawork: managing zoom, exposure and focus to make sure everything is at best visibility possible
the extra mile to take everything apart to show us absolutely all steps to assemble/disassemble,
The patience to explain everything in due detail with all variables and tips you can muster make me wish I had more than one like to give

Top work. After seeing this video I've just ordered couple AE1200s. I'm going ship, along with the filter sheets to them in Canada. They can do this as a scence/physics project with their dad (hes an Aviation Engineer) as part of their home schooling during this current "lockdown situation " thanks for this idea. I'm looking forward to working my way though your other videos.

Dude I couldn't sleep, it was 3 AM in the morning and I seen a military green version of this watch for sale for 100 dollars but seen you could get the watch for just 30 dollars.
I punched in the watch into youtube and seen your thumbnail for the video and got curious and watched the entire video from front to back.
You truly are gifted, you make the process intriguing and easy to understand. Video quality audio quality, in depth of every variable out come, everything was very well thought through and it's noticeable.

Very nice mod. My preference would not be negative display for the upper left time display indicator. I would have made it all in amber. But, that is my taste...
I ordered the all black model and a leather strap for it. The strap cost me almost as much as the watch. That model is a great deal for the price. Good for a general knock around type watch. Not expensive to replace if damaged while doing things around the house.

Something I would hqve done slightly different. Prior to dissasembling the module, take the polarizing film and orient it to obtain the negative effect and set it to the side in that orientation. This way once you have scored/removed the section of the original film, the new polarizing film is already oriented correctly and then apply your pattern/original film.

Why use super glue for the color filter? The chance of messing it up is quite big and a tiny piece of tape will hold it in place just as good. The module presses against it after assembly so it's not going anywhere.

Is it possible to remove the vertical and the horizontal crosshair lines from the digi-analog display? To me they just make viewing so much worse. I get the center circle since the straight lines for hands couldn't fit there so instead of a visibility gap, it looks more natural to just have a black circle overlay. I get the outer ring line. But those crosshair lines are same thickness almost as the hands. I wish I could erase them.

    • @watchncarry9593

You'll have to do it exactly like I did in the video. To get the negative screen effect, you have to remove part of the screen, replace it with polarizing film, and rotate that film 90 degrees to the right or left👍

The case is made out of resin/plastic. The bracelet is metal.

Is it possible to make a negative display into a positive ?

    • @watchncarry9593
      @watchncarry9593  4 роки тому

Yeah. You would remove the polarized filter you installed in this video, clean the glue residue, and install a new polarized filter, but orient it to make it a positive/ normal display

At 33:56, when he was wiping the screen, I saw on the display a colon and a letter c. From the side it looked like this emoticon :(

You should purchase a Giottos Rocket Air Blaster instead of wasting money on compressed air.
