Whirlpool dishwasher wasn't cleaning. I replaced the pump and motor. Then the door leaked. I replaced the gasket and the corner leaks stopped but a large leak developed in the bottom middle of the door. I figured it was the lower door seal or the lower spray arm was generating waves. Rather than purchasing more parts, I removed the lower door seal. I noticed it was designed with numerous perforations which can allow water to leak out of the cabinet into the door and out onto the floor. I repaired the problem with FLEX SEAL. I sealed the perforations, the edge of the seal in contact with the drip pan in the door and the edge of the door that contacts the seal. I paid close attention to the ends of the seal inside the door. NO MORE LEAKS OR PARTS PURCHASES.

Hi, I agree - great video. Short, sweet and easy to follow. That's the good news. The bad news is that I installed the new part exactly per the instructions but I am still getting water in the door. We've already replaced the exterior door seal. The water appears to be entering through the bottom of the door. I can feel the insulation in there getting wet. I was so sure this was the solution. Any ideas?

No, everything looked as expected. I was especially careful in reinstalling the new part. To the point of other commenters below, the whole setup with the bottom seal feels a little suspect - there is no rubber gasket. But this setup worked for some 10 years before we have had this problem which we seem unable to solve. Any other ideas? Seems a shame to have to replace the unit over this. It washes the dishes perfectly fine.@@appliancepartspros

It's an excellent tutorial and my door seal replacement went very smoothly. I had already replaced the gasket which caused the Whirlpool to leak "less", before replacing the bottom door seal. With both seals replaced, it still leaks and yes the leak is coming from the door. Looks like I'm in the market for another dishwasher. And with this one being only a year old, I guarantee whatever I buy next won't be a Whirlpool

I’m getting the same thing. Did you ever figure it out? It looks like a design flaw (no rubber seal on the bottom) but I’m wondering why it took two years before the flaw presented itself.

Great question@@CobraABC . I am experiencing the exact same sequence of events as @jimcarlton1299. My unit is 12 years old so I figured a repair was fair game but I simply cannot fix this leak. I thought I was a $10 part from a $1000 replacement but no luck. Did anyone ever solve this?

You will need a magnetic 3/16 driver, I can't see any other way to get it done. I put a magnet on my driver and was able to get by but an actual magnetized driver would have saved me 15 minutes of fishing screws out which are covered by the seal you are installing. Issue ended up being my spray arm, not the seals but probably didn't hurt to replace them after 7 years.

Right next to my 3/16th magnetic socket...for the rusted-out non stainless steel sheet metal screws holding the piece in place. (3 of 5 rusted out) Thank goodness for this video though. And, for any about to do the job, do not minimize the importance of the tape to hold the part in place while attaching the screws.
Unfortunately, I did not order the part from AppliancePartsPros but will know better next time an appliance needs attention as this video saved me a ton of probable lost time. Hope my leak is fixed and best to all. Well done.

I’m having the same issue, and someone else in the comments did too. Not sure why it was designed without a rubber gasket at the bottom. I just noticed leaking after two years of no issues. Not sure why, but suddenly water is spilling out. It looks like it just wasn’t designed well. I replaced this part per the tutorial and it didn’t help at all. I opened the door mid cycle while the water was leaking and it looks like the water level is fine, float is working, spray arm is fine, pump is fine.

Reuben Lee Brown yeah. I replaced that grey plastic seal too and it didn’t do much to help. I’m thinking that it must be one of two things. Either the lower spray arm is just slightly off-balance so it’s causing an uneven wave of water to slosh around as it spins, or the whole machine is off balance (I’ll be checking that this evening).
