    Very helpful video. Followed all of the steps and installation went smoothly. Recommend cleaning any gunk that built up under the old seal before installing the new seal. Used hand tools to install screws/nuts to avoid over tightening. Removing the vapor barrier was slightly more difficult than shown on the video.

    If any of you have reinstalled this thing and found you still have a leak, check if the spray arm is shooting water out the side from a split in the seam.

      What fixed that for me was replacing the bottom spray arm. An appliance repair guy answered my Reddit post about it, and it worked. Since then, five people have commented on Reddit that it solved their leak.

    Great video... is this standard across most of the product models? Our leak looks to be the lower door seal for whirlpool dishwasher GU1500XTLB2

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  7 місяців тому

      On your model dishwasher, the lower door seal is only sold as part of the inner door assembly here: partsdr.com/part/wp8269311-inner-door-panel

      Thank you! A. Is this an easy job or? B. Is there a common sealer (waterproof/heat tolerant) that works in lieu of this replacement? The lower strip of plastic on ours is semi attached. I was thinking "gluing" with a good caulk might be perfect.

      @@peterbell9683You can get an idea of the repair here: ua-cam.com/video/95C_ltwKmSg/v-deo.html We can't recommend glueing it, so that is up to you if you want to try that.

      @@PartsDr Oyvayyyyyyyyyyy.... a lot going on with that "simple repair"... with the odds of my getting the 2 door cables alone reconnected correctly pretty low, might just be time for a new dishwasher. But thank you very much... let me sleep on it... a baking pan under the leak will do for now... and what the hey, maybe a shot with the caulk might at least be worth trying... stay tuned.

      Ok folks so I've weighed in on the cost of the part; my time in taking the door apart AND hopefully putting it back together properly OR gluing/caulking the plastic strip (lower seal) back to the door. If I try the first I'm 100% sure we'll be buying a new dishwasher; in trying the second option it either works or we're buying a new dishwasher soooooooo... stay tuned, I'm gluing/caulking!
      Thanks for the support, we're all in this together :)

      Inspect bottom spray arm..mine had deteriorated and had small cracks on the side so the water was not only spraying upwards, it was spraying out the sides as well...I had used zip-ties temporarily which helped hold it together securely until I got a new spray arm

    at 1:40 of this video you removed something called the vapor barrier. I need a new one, mine is warped, but I cannot find this part anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      If the vapor barrier is bent, simply use a heat gun to GENTLY heat the warped section. Use a work bench or flat surface and a piece of scrap wood to mold the heated part flat.
