The preacher placed the bible stained with his blood at the scene of the crash into the hooker's hand before he passed. Then she gave it to her son who became a preacher and he told the story. I just love to hear Randy Travis sing anything. Thank you for the reaction.
I've listened to this song for years and it gets me every time. Randy Travis battled his own demons but you could always tell he was a believer in Jesus Christ. Your mom sounds like a beautiful woman. I'm sorry for your loss but what a relief to know that she's in the arms of Jesus. God bless.
@@UberDave918 Jesus saves alll you have to do is ask. I used to carry New Testament bibles that I found always a lot of the at the dollar tree. When I would to ask them accept him into your heart. Then I would hand over the new testament bible I would say every thing is right in here I pay my heart as I handed out to total strangers I only had one person in ten years we call it street preaching. I love me some rock mostly gospel music. You mom is your guardian angel she’s watching you with your new born never forget Jesus’s and his angels watch over us
You know it's the line that he said "Its not what you take when you leave this world behind, it what you leave when you go" what that preacher left changed that woman life, which changed her sons, and now her son is changing lives preaching in a church
it was a blood stained bible, he gave it to her with his last words(and his blood), laying on the pavement, telling her how he could see heaven. That's what touched her soul and changed the direction of her life, the rest you got right.
I looked through so many comments to see if someone explained it right. This is the first one that explained he was seeing heaven as he gave the Bible to her. Not one person got that was the changing point in her life except you. This song always hits so hard. He also didn't get that a wooden cross on the side of the road signifies where someone lost their life and not heaven vs hell. The more country songs he does, the more he comprehend the story being told.
Three wooden crosses... Definitely my favorite song by Randy Travis. It makes me cry every time I hear it. Just such a full circle moment. The three wooden crosses were for the three people that passed away...the farmer, the teacher, and the preacher. The hooker lived. And you got the story exactly right after you listened to it again. From the outside, you would think that the hooker was the one in the bus that least deserved to live. But the preacher preached the word of God to her. And it probably saved her life from a life of despair. The hooker took God's word and went on to be a mother who prayed the word to her son...who then became a preacher because of that word.
Two were looking for another way.. The preacher and the hooker. He was preaching, yes, but he gave her a blood soaked bible. So he was dying when he gave it her. And I always took it as she was already pregnant and open to finding a new path.
Remember the lyric "and preacher says can't you see the promise land as handed that blood stained Bible to the hooker" (not verbatim, but it's close), he wasn't preaching to her during the trip, after the wreck before the preacher died he gave his Bible to the hooked, so it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go. The hooker took that blood stained Bible and read it to her son, who then became a preacher, and his mama got saved. It's a beautiful story of 3 saved people, who all left a legacy, but one didn't have a legacy yet, the preacher recognized that, and as he died he left her an opportunity to get saved and leave her legacy, a son who grows up to be a preacher. Hope this helps.
Oh Lord, grab the tissues! How did Randy Travis get through singing this song without crying? I cry every time I hear it. It's what you leave behind you when you go. Word's to live your lives by.
Randy Travis is incredible. Love this song, but he walked on water, digging up bones, and on the other hand are also all great. Just a great voice and great presence in country music.
@randyrogers YES you said the 1st thing that came mind of some the many of Randy's great songs that have a great story to them I never missed his concerts when he came to town in the 90s and early 2ks
I absolutely LOVE that you have reacted to this. As a Christian I was hoping this song would mean a lot to you, and hoped you would get the lyrics & story, which you totally did, and not all reactors do. The writers said they were asked for years about the bus driver. They replied that it was Jesus leading them to salvation. That gave me chills. But the song was written in 45 minutes after one came up with the thought that "It's what you leave behind that matters"
He didn’t write this song, he breathed life into it.. it is by far my favorite. It was also his last hit. He had a catastrophic stroke a few years later and he still doesn’t have complete control of his vocals, but he is an amazing human not just talented but just an amazing human being coming from the heavy metal girl
Mixing the outstanding voice of mr travis, the story telling of country music, and the complete mind fck of this story... I love watching people digest it.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Randy Travis is one of the all time Kings of country music. He is a living legend. Incredible artist, song writer, story teller & man.
You totally nailed the meaning of the story. This song was voted country song of the year in 2003, and won a Dove Award as the Christian song of the year as well, so you aren't the only one who was touched by this. God bless your precious mom.
Okay. Now I am crying my eyeballs out. I miss my Momma so much. Her relationship with God was amazing. I tried to raise my son the same way your Mom did you. He turned around and ran from it until he was 35 years old. But then God’s faithfulness kicked in when he finally hit the bottom. He came back to God and myself then. He has a wife and two beautiful babies and I am truly blessed. Thank you for sharing your story about your mother.
😊So happy you got to her this song, and it touched you the way it was meant to. Randy may've written and sung it... but the words are from Jesus. Period. Thank you for sharing this reaction, and rest in sweet Heavenly peace to your Mom. She knew what she was talking about, even if some didn't understand what she was asking.... beautiful testimony BP. Peace, light and love to all...💞
I flat out bawl every time I hear this song. It was written by Kim Williams and Doug Johnson. The preacher hands the hooker his bloodstained Bible as he is dying and asks her "can't you see the promiseland?" The rest you got. Your mama sounds so much like mine. Mine passed a year ago; but, she was always exactly like you describe your mama. That is touching.
I'm glad to hear you have reconnected with your faith, and as 7th generation southerner, I also appreciate your openness and understanding of southern music. God bless you.
Kane Brown was covering this song on a radio show and Randy Travis showed up as a surprise. The sad part, it was after Randy had his stroke which did effect his speech.
The part he sings it’s not what take when you leave this life behind you, it’s what’s you leave behind when you go. The teacher left a lot in her children she taught, the farmer left a huge farm and his way of life to his children, the preacher left his mark on so many. The hooker had not left her mark yet but she was going to have a child who was going to become a preacher, she read that bloody Bible she was gave to him as a child. Beautiful song!!!!
If you want another faith-based song with a fall-out-of-your-chair emotional ending, check out "The Little Girl" by John Michael Montgomery. Another good gut puncher is "God's Will" by Martina McBride.
I love this song. What a message. I knew you would get it, so many other reactions I've watched never got the message. Randy Travis is such a great story teller and a rabbit hole you could go down with his music.

I’ve heard this song so many times, and I told myself tonight, going into this reaction video, “You are not going to cry.” It didn’t work. I can’t stop it. It’s a beautiful sentiment. It’s sad, too, for the others that lost their lives. But being the only survivor is one of the reasons that she turned her life around.
Absolutely love this song! The line "it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go" is impactful since the farmer, teacher, and preacher all left something behind; thus, they essentially already did God's will. The hooker, though a wretched sinner, survived because there was more for God to do for her. I actually wrote a poem called "Three Wooden Crosses" about said Bible story about Jesus and the two thieves, and I incorporated some of Randy's lyrics into it.

Three great songs you need to hear that's also very emotional... John Michael Montgomery "The Little Girl". Tim McGraw "Don't Take The Girl". Martina McBride"Concrete Angel ".
Tim McGraw" live like you were dying" . Nov. 2021 i started listening to it when I was going through kimo and radiation for stage 3 for 4 defrost cancer.
Randy Travis is a true Country superstar. I’m not a big Country fan, but he is undeniable and transcends genres. FOREVER AND EVER AMEN is his biggest hit. Three of my favorite Gospel songs of his are: WHEN MAMA PRAYED, BAPTISM, and PRAY FOR THE FISH. His live performances are strong, simple, and clear.
There's never going to be a time when I listen to that song and not cry... That song was playing when I was on my way to hospice to check in on my mother. That morning, God took the girl... I've been broken hearted and empty ever since.
I was blesed enough to get to see him at the Houston rodeo one of the last times he was in concert. He sang this for the first time, and no one had a dry eye!!! Please do forever and ever. But get your wife to do it with you!
Everything you said I was right with you with one little tweak, I don't remember anything in the song saying he was preaching to her before the crash. What I heard was that with his last breath the preacher left behind his vision of the promised land while he laid that same Bible stained with his own blood in that young lady's hand. In my mind I see her on the side of road after the crash watching responders pull those lifeless bodies from the wreck while still holding that Bible and realizing in that moment that she could have been one of those crosses on the side of the road but for the grace of God. And that's what changed her life.
The preacher says "Now, can't you see The Promised Land" as he laid that Bible in that Hooker's hand. He was dying. HIs last act was to give it to the Hooker and have her promise to read it. That's what the preacher left behind when he went. And the Hooker read the Bible to her son, who became a preacher.
I always cry to this song each and everytime.❤❤🧑🌾👨🏫📖✝️✝️✝️ preacher gave the bloodied Bible in her hand which I always imagined she knelt beside the dying preacher side of the road giving comfort in his final moments. I see it a bit like how Jesus forgave even the criminal at the hr of His death.
I'm an old chick and I live in the woods and mostly off grid. Country music is the music of poor folks. It's life experience music and values and hope and how we truly live and believe and how we will die. It's our story. From Roy Acuff to Struggle Jennings we are truly those people and we live by faith in one way or another. Thank you for sharing us with a new group of people. Thank you with all of my humbled heart.
My father also passed away in 2010 from cancer. He fought his demons his whole life and I’m greatly glad that he was trying to turn it all around when he passed. He started praying with me and I prayed for his suffering to end each night until it did. At his funeral we played ‘Long Black Train’ by Josh Turner because it suited his life so well, please give it a listen.
The Little Girl y John Micheal Montgomery might be another you'd like. Hits me as hard as this one at least. Why Me Lord? by Kris Kristofferson is another good one with Christian themes.
This is one of my favorite songs. I believe the preacher is his father in this one. But I felt compelled to send a big thank you. I think I saw this one hit you like it hits me. Listen to the question your mom asked. Much love!
Randy's distinct voice is a treasure ! You got the song, and your immediate jump to the 3 crosses on Calvary is spot on too. Look for Josh Turner "Long Black Train" for another soulful baritone voice singing an amazing allegorical song
Also, I love the part, farmer on vacation, teacher higher ed, and 2 looking for lost souls, looking from both ways lost souls connect, most would think the hooker would die before the preacher, because of her profession. To his dying moment, he was still spreading the Word
The preacher placed the bible stained with his blood at the scene of the crash into the hooker's hand before he passed. Then she gave it to her son who became a preacher and he told the story. I just love to hear Randy Travis sing anything. Thank you for the reaction.
That was the Preacher’s legacy or what he left behind
And the hooker left behind her son their preacher!!
The preacher left the bible and the word behind, and the hooker left a preacher behind
***FOREVER AND EVER AMEN*** you want that one.
@ConspiracySmurf He has done a reaction to this song...It's on his channel! 😊
“ As He laid that blood stained Bible in that hookers hand.”He gave it to her as he was dying.
He did that one already :)
I was just going to suggest that one myself.
Great song
I was just WAITING for you to catch it. Your reaction was exactly what mine was the first time I heard this...

He gives her the Bible as he’s dying, hence him saying “Can’t you see the promise land” after the accident, which is where the blood came from.

Three of my favorite Gospel songs of his are: WHEN MAMA PRAYED, BAPTISM, and PRAY FOR THE FISH. His live performances are strong, simple, and clear.
9:00 priceless reaction as you figured it out
Been listening to this song for years and I cry every time.
Such a beautiful song, when it was released I cried the first time I heard it.
This song brings me to tears every time I hear it. It's so deep. God bless Randy for being the songwriter that he is.
Have you reacted to Tim McGraws Please Don't Take the Girl.
That one kills me every single time.
Uuugggghhhaaaa not that one!! Ugghhaa sooo sad!
@@rosieeye6812 i know. But i would still like to see the reaction
Thanks!
Thank you for your extra support!
I love the look on your face when you figure it out - you were completely blown away ❤❤
Have ALWAYS loved this song - and, makes me TEARY: EVERY TIME!! LOVE Randy Travis. Such great vocals and great lyrics in all of his songs!!
On the Other Hand, Forever and ever Amen, If I didn't have you, Diggin up Bones, all blow this great song away 😊
***ON THE OTHER HAND***
LOVE that one!
Yesas
🎵There’s a golden band🎼
CHILLS!!! Every time!
The Little Girl y John Micheal Montgomery might be another you'd like. Hits me as hard as this one at least. Why Me Lord? by Kris Kristofferson is another good one with Christian themes.
Rip Kris Kristofferson
Beautiful song. BP, your morals and values are why I watch you. One of the reasons. Thank you. Please don't change.
You got it right. Great story with surprise ending centered around what you leave behind.
This is one of my favorite songs. I believe the preacher is his father in this one. But I felt compelled to send a big thank you. I think I saw this one hit you like it hits me. Listen to the question your mom asked. Much love!
Remember when was Alan Jackdon. Your reaction to Randy was Forever and Ever Amen.
I really enjoyed your reaction. The song never fails to get me. Sorry for your loss, she sounds like a wonderful woman.
Probably my favorite Randy Travis song.
Your Mama was just like my Daddy!! How can you not share something that you believe in?? And im so sorry for your loss!!
Your mom did exactly what we are all supposed to do. Wow. Her love for The Lord and others is amazing.
Randy's distinct voice is a treasure ! You got the song, and your immediate jump to the 3 crosses on Calvary is spot on too. Look for Josh Turner "Long Black Train" for another soulful baritone voice singing an amazing allegorical song
It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go.
Oh what a beautiful reaction, I love that you are honest about your emotions and that you show your faith.
Also, I love the part, farmer on vacation, teacher higher ed, and 2 looking for lost souls, looking from both ways lost souls connect, most would think the hooker would die before the preacher, because of her profession. To his dying moment, he was still spreading the Word
Love Randy. It's a Matter of Time. Digging Up Bones. I Told You So. On the Other Hand
In an interview in the 90's he said the story of three wooden crosses happened to one of his friends
Randy Travis is a great storyteller, songwriter, and omg what a voice to talk to your heart.
Your mother sounds wonderful! May go bless you and your family
OMG. He is the bomb. Gotta love old country.
