And that's his daughters in the video... he has 3 daughters. You have to listen to Daddy let me drive!!! His daughters are in it... I think that one will really touch you because you have daughters! His oldest daughter Mattie was married for 11 months when her husband passed. Alan Jackson's daughter, Mattie Jackson Selecman, has released a book called Lemons. She will share how she dealt with the death of her husband just 11 months after they married. Ben Selecman was helping a woman onto a boat while they were vacationing in Florida when he fell and hit his head. He was just 28 years old.
I have known Alan for almost 30 years. This is a song he wrote and those pictures are his wife, daughters and parents. Allen had to stop touring because of a Neurological disorder that has taken a toll on his health. He is one of the most beautiful and sincere human beings I have ever known. I worked in both Rock and Country. This song is one I dance to with my wife on days when we spend time together alone. A beautiful song with a huge message about what is important in life. I saw your face when you reviewed this piece. That was true and raw emotion. You are an amazing man. Thank you for giving this Artist and song the credit it deserves. Alan stay well my friend.

Both of my parents died in December of 2021 from Covid. We played this song at their funeral. It was their song. They were married 57 years. I love this song!
My favorite Alan Jackson story is about a car. Alan and his father restored a car before his father passed away. Before Alan became famous, he was forced to sell the car to make ends meet. The Christmas after his became famous...his wife tracked down the car and returned it to Alan on Christmas day. Now that is 💕 LOVE‼️

It’s even sadder now because Alan has a disease. He has trouble standing. He is such a wonderful human being and singer/songwriter. I have loved him since his first song was released. He is a true gentleman. Tragedy has struck him a few times. He and his family watched as one of his daughter’s husband being newly married, lost his balance in a boat and hit his head killing him. Alan was and still is very distraught over it. With this disease he will degrade physically as each day passes. Please listen to more of his music. He has made tons of wonderful music. Take a listen to the song he wrote about September 11th. After hearing what happened while on his bus while touring he wrote the song. “ where were you when the world stopped turning”

What a beautiful story and relationship! My wife and I weren't each others firsts and only. But that's my only regret in life. If I could make it so, I would. And I've tried to explain that to our sons, also.
As an older woman at 68, I can promise you absolutely never stop maturing and learning. My Dad was killed at 40 when I was 4. Up until I turned 40 I truly believed he was old. I am so sorry for your loss. No matter how long you're married, this loss is devastating. I lost my husband of 36 years in 2020. My heart is with you. ❤

Their relationship is well known in Country circles. When they were young Alan had a car he loved, a 1955 Thunderbird convertible. He had to sell it because they needed the money. His wife, once he started earning, tracked that car down and bought it back. Yes, Alan has a degenerative disease, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, it's hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy. He's stopped touring.
He has a degenerative disease but he is doing a '24-25 tour. Just not so many dates as when he was younger and he wants people to understand that he won't be working that stage as hard either because it affects his balance. I've seen him live and he is 100% as good live as recorded. This is a VERY special artist for me so I hope you react to a lot of his stuff.

This song was played at my grandma’s funeral and for years after the first notes would get me chocked up. I’ve always looked at this song as remembering the great life lived after a loved one passes.

Thank you for this genuine reaction, for NOT hiding your emotions and sharing your thoughts, in this culture of filters, cosmetic surgeries and general fakeness it is refreshing to see REAL.
My husband and I were each other's firsts. I was 20, he was 22, married within 6 months or so, and still together 35 years later, until he died. This is a very meaningful song for me.
At 78, 56 years married, three great kids, four really special grandkids……… you are a special guy, stay close to the family……thanks for doing this song.
Yes, Alan wrote the song - a love song to his wife. They got married young, struggled financially, raised their kids, are growing old together, facing some health issues.... It's his love letter to her and their life together. My favorite Alan Jackson song is a fun one - a collaboration with Jimmy Buffett called It's 5:00 Somewhere
I love the guy, but working with Buffett was rather hypocritical of him. He's often critical of modern country music, even calling out Chris Stapleton of all people, but he's had his own non-traditional hits.
@emerje0 there's no hypocrisy there.... One can be critical of another's opinion on a topic and still have a creative relationship. We aren't 5, that is ridiculous
@@Keshalee86 Then I suggest you tell that to the guy doing interviews saying real country music is dead despite having made non-traditional country music himself. If he can do that and say he's one of the last making real country music then others should be able to make what ever version of country music they see fit without being openly criticized by him.
No matter the genre, Alan Jackson is one of the best songwriters ever. He really doesn't need anybody to write his songs for him. Remember When is definitely autobiographical. Great, honest, heart-tugging reaction, so thank you. Alan has revealed that he has a degenerative nerve disease that has left him partially incapacitated.
I'm a 60+ yr old man and it's refreshing to hear a young man such as yourself talk and act responsibly. Sets a good role model for others. It would be an honor to meet you one day. Keep doing what you do.
Married at 20, now married 45 years. This is the story of most marriages that endure through the years. There are many ups and downs but you work and make it through.
My husband and I have been together since I was a 15 year old teen mom with a two year old daughter. We have been together for over 45 years. He became a dad to my daughter and we had another daughter together and we have been through a lot that would have been the end for many couples. I now have stage 4 vulvar cancer and I have no more options for treatment. He has stood by me and even had to go back to work at 80 to cover my medical expenses. I love this man more than words can express and it hurts so bad to know he will be alone when I’m gone. Hug your babies and tell your wife you love her every day. And remember when….
Alan Jackson is one of the Greats. A man of integrity, which is why he left Country Music for a while, but he still remains a Country Great. You should check out the vid of him singing "He Stopped Loving Her Today - at George Jones' farewell
6’4” - he didn’t stop per say. He has a health issue and touring is difficult. He has self reported started talking about making music again. There is a bit of it that is also a big part of where he comes from - parents who have that love as well. BUT - dear BP you could do nothing but AJ reactions for a month. He had such a huge portfolio- but I truly think you’d trip on “Midnight in Montgomery.” The meaning will blow you away.
Midnight in Montgomery. Prob my favorite of his. Hank Williams Sr was a big influence of Alan's & his grave is in Montgomery. Thats the premise for this classic hit ;-)
Yes, Alan Jackson wrote the song "Remember When" as a gift to his wife, Denise. It was supposed to be a 25th anniversary gift but was released 6 months before their 25th anniversary. They are one of the longest country music couples. celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary this year.
Just popped down to add to all the comments telling you that yes, he wrote this, and yes, that's his beautiful wife, and yes, he's that awesome of a human being. Don't ever be afraid to let those tears flow. You're the daddy to two beautiful little girls now. That changes absolutely EVERYTHING in your life, even more than boys could ever do. I hope you shared this song with YOUR wife, and shared how much it touched your heart and soul. I just happened upon you today by accident when you reacted to Reba's Fancy. I'm now a subscriber. Keep on keeping it real.
This one ALWAYS makes me weep with emotions. It hurts my heart and makes my heart soar again. Alan is sure missed in country music these days, because of songs like this. Thank you so much for checking this out, and for being man enough to cry when the soul calls you to cry. I like this channel, I'll be back ❤
Alan has written most of his songs. He wrote Where Were You after 911 and sang at the CMA's that year. You can find that performance on UA-cam. It is well worth a listen but you won't find a bad song
I can’t listen to this without shedding a tear (or several!). I’m 56 and so very thankful of my great life and all the memory of the people I love and those that love me. I LOVE this song.😊
This is one of my favorite Alan Jackson songs. I grew up in the same town as Alan. We live about 15 minutes from the house he grew up in and pass it almost daily. He, his wife, and his family have given back so much to the community.
Your Mom will never be gone. You are who you are because of her. Your kids through you will be who they become because of her and so on through the generations.
Alan Jackson really hasn't quit music, but he was diagnosed over 10 years ago with Charcot- Marie- Tooth disease. It has a weird name, but it's a genetic neurological disorder that leads to nerve damage that can affect your feet, legs, arms and hands. There is no cure for it, but can somewhat be managed with braces for your legs and possible pain pills for nerve pain. The progression of the disease has made it too difficult for him to tour, although he said he still comes up with new song ideas from time to time.
This is correct. I have a cousin to this disease called hereditary spastic paraplegia. No cure and it’s tough to deal with but I count my blessings everyday. He has become one of my favorite artists partly because of this. Great singer/songwriter.
Livin On Love- Alan Jackson. BP, this is a perfect song for you to react to. The lyrics are so sweet and will make you smile. It was a huge #1 country hit in the 90s for him. Love to see you react to it. Thanks for this great reaction BP!
My husband and I were each other’s first. Celebrated our 50th last month. This is what that song is about, walking through life together, remember the good and bad times, and all the stages we went through. Alan is one of the greatest writers of all time. He writes from the heart in a way that touches us as well. We say yeah, I understand that, I experienced it. Alan never forgot where he came from, he writes what we all can feel. And love his voice. Alan has so much good stuff, it is hard to know where to start. He can communicates that he is just like us. He is a grandpa now. Waiting for those songs. Check out more Alan. You will not be disappointed.
He has many great songs, another emotional one is "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)", about 9/11...then he has some fun songs too like "Chattahoochee", "Mercury Blues", "Summertime Blues" which I believe is a remake, "Gone Country"...hope you can vibe with these or other tracks in his catalog. Another great reaction Back P! 40!
Chattahoochee is a fun song. When I moved to Florida from Boston at 19 I got an education in how different it is in the South and remember that song was art f my education. It's just all the way different.
@@Ontheroxxwithsalt yeah, it's a different world... and there's even some who don't consider most of Florida "the South"... more like a New York/New Jersey relocation area..haha. Of course, the state I live in, Virginia, isn't considered South by some either. Weird.
I'm 58, kids moved out, relocating due to work and having my wife of 31 yrs with me on this journey , we often go down memory lane and say to each other "remember when". This song is so emotional and beautiful.
This song is still a great reminder of how marriage is supposed to be. To make the video even better. Mr. Jackson wrote this song to his wife when their marriage was in trouble. Then to see him and his wife embracing in the video makes it extraordinary!
Sweetie, your mum IS proud of you and the path you're on. She's been there every step of the way and she already knew what path you were going to make before you did. And shes there for you, your Lady and your baby girls every day... Thank you for just being so REAL and the happiness and joy you bring from your reactions and thoughts. You always make me laugh and Life is Better when you Laugh...! 💜😂💜
I love your reactions, especially when they are love songs, because I love when you talk about your wife. The emotion in your voice and the love on your face is so heart warming. I hope her and your older daughter and your baby girl are doing great! Much love❤❤❤
All of Alan's songs are full of emotion and meaning...he wrote and sang from his heart....he has and had a great understanding of the things important in life....even his songs that are more up beat and looking at the different sides of life- those songs still have deep meaning just from a lighter side...I went to many of his concerts here in Oklahoma and even took my son to several .
You hit the nail on head. Yes, Alan Jackson is known for writing many of his songs, including this one. And yes, that was his wife dancing in the video. And it was a story he lived..... they went through a separation, but reconciled.
Alan and his wife were high school sweethearts. She got him started as a stewardess she gave his tape to a Star who was flying. Big family guy .. is Alan Jackson
Yes, Alan Jackson wrote and composed the song, Remember When. I watched a video pertaining to marriages in country music that have last the longest and his marriage was in the top 5. It did mention how he did stray from his marriage, caught up in the touring activities, etc. But, he realized what he had at home, became a Christian, got saved, and they have been together and happy since.
Thanks! That reaction is everything you could want from a reaction. That song is everything you could want from a country song. And you will definitely want to check out Alan Jackson’s “Drive” which specially captures parent’s relationship with their children from generation to generation.
The literal anthem of many a good marriage. Alan wrote this song like many of his songs and yes, that's his wife in the video that he's dancing with. So sorry about your mother but you know that she is smiling on you and your successes! She still sheds tears for you and is continually there, supporting you. Pretty sure she's pretty proud of you! Great reaction to one of the all time great songs and talents. Sad I never got to hear him live but so thankful I grew up on his music. God bless you and your family...always "Remember When"
You’re right Alan Jackson did write this song… And he’s 6‘4“ tall. Music is the boy list of our life but as you get older it’s full of a family that can get you through…Our children are only with us for a short time before they begin their own lives so enjoy the ride!! Nice reaction
Great videos of Alan Jackson joining Jimmy Buffet for "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" and joining George Strait for "Amarillo by Morning". Great live Performances!
Powerful!!!!! Thank you so much! You are a blessed man. God is working a wonderful thing in you and that's why you are moved by what you see in your life. The Master is working on a masterful plan in all who are willing to let Him. Again, thank you for sharing, you are changing others by your example.
You are correct. Alan wrote the song...and it is his story. He is dancing with his wife and his daughters are in the video. It's a beautiful real love story...and yes, they are still together. You have become more vulnerable over time in your reactions... and that is incredible to see! Alan has a hereditary, debilitating, neuropathic disease, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which he has been battling since early 2000s and affects his ability to perform, though he has not officially retired... but he had performed live very little in recent years. You should do an Alan Jackson deep dive...there are many songs which I feel would touch you!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I lost my wife in 2007 to cancer at the age of 54. after 17 years, I still miss her so much. I watch this video about once a month (about as often as I can stand). Your reaction is the first reaction video I have watched for this song. It just popped up on my UA-cam page and I see you only posted this one day ago. I went back and watched some of your other reactions to bands/songs I like. Charlie Daniels' The Devil Went Down to Georgia is my favorite so far! Keep up the good work. I'm really enjoying your reactions. Liked and subscribed. 75 yo classic rocker who likes all kinds of music.
I used to see him a lot when I lived in Nashville. He was so down to earth. He would go to these little Mexican restaurants and if you didn't recognize him, you'd never know who he was. So genuine and humble. Good ole' country boy.

I love the guy, but working with Buffett was rather hypocritical of him. He's often critical of modern country music, even calling out Chris Stapleton of all people, but he's had his own non-traditional hits.
@emerje0 there's no hypocrisy there....
You forgot one thing he cheated on her and she forgave him 😊
Alan Jackson is the real deal. This is true country music.
Man, this song had me bawling. Country music is the soul of the heartland.
Alan Jackson DID write this. Its such a beautiful ballad of love to his wife and marriage.
Year 44 here. Can’t imagine what it would be like not to share life’s most exquisite moments him.
I just celebrated 30 years with my wife who i almost lost back in 20 I'm so glad she's still here with me today God is good
My husband and I have been together since I was a 15 year old teen mom with a two year old daughter.
💯 🎉
i was a freshman in highschool when this song came out and i thought it was good... looking back all these years later, it hits all the right places
Of course he wrote it. It put him in the hall of fame. Allen Jackson was a master class song writer
Yes, Alan Jackson wrote the song "Remember When" as a gift to his wife, Denise. It was supposed to be a 25th anniversary gift but was released 6 months before their 25th anniversary. They are one of the longest country music couples. celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary this year.
The mark of a great song is when it makes you feel
Alan Jackson pretty much wrote his entire catalog, one of Country’s most prolific singer songwriters to ever pass through Nashville
Alan and his wife Denise are still married and they just had their first grandchild!! He did write this song for his wife! ❤😢
Thanks for keeping it real. I am an 81Year old man and I fight the tears every time I see this. It is a whole life in a few minutes.
I think you would love Alan Jackson’s song “ It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere”… a more upbeat song he does with Jimmy Buffett. It’s fun.
This one ALWAYS makes me weep with emotions. It hurts my heart and makes my heart soar again. Alan is sure missed in country music these days, because of songs like this. Thank you so much for checking this out, and for being man enough to cry when the soul calls you to cry. I like this channel, I'll be back ❤
Alan Jackson is one of my favorite country artists!! You need to go down this rabbit hole he has so many number 1's ❤❤❤❤
SOOOO MANY AMAZING SONGS!!!
My late wife and I loved this beautiful song. She was 50 when she passed, almost 10 years ago. Still brings me to tears. ❤️
HANDS DOWN... one of the best story tellers of ALL TIME in country music!!
And George Strait
@@rheemamitcheltree5853 Yessss!!
You will definitely love more of Allen Jackson's songs and add them to your play list.
Alan Jackson can make you smile, laugh, cry but most of all will make you grateful.
The older you get the more the little things matter!!
I believe your wife and children brought out the real you! You realize what is important! God bless you and your precious family!❤
I totally agree!
This is one of my favorite Alan Jackson songs. I grew up in the same town as Alan. We live about 15 minutes from the house he grew up in and pass it almost daily. He, his wife, and his family have given back so much to the community.
Alan Jackson is an AMAZING country music icon, please put his songs “The older I get & Where were you” on the list!!!!
Love your reactions
Need to react to Drive by Alan Jackson especially since you have daughters
Your Mom will never be gone. You are who you are because of her. Your kids through you will be who they become because of her and so on through the generations.
They were high school sweethearts!❤
Alan Jackson really hasn't quit music,
but he was diagnosed over 10 years ago with Charcot- Marie- Tooth disease.
Love this song! I'm from Australia, I met my husband when I was 14, he was 17. 38yrs later, 2 children, 3 grandchildren(so far) and still strong.
Face it, ya can't go wrong with a song that has the words hoochie coochie in it!!!!!!!!
I lost my Dad today. He died from cancer. Watching your reactions brings me peace and helps me stay positive.
God Bless You Brother.
Thanks
😔🙏🏻🤍🕊️
I love your reactions, especially when they are love songs, because I love when you talk about your wife. The emotion in your voice and the love on your face is so heart warming. I hope her and your older daughter and your baby girl are doing great! Much love❤❤❤
PS... I find this music is very wistful. I think that word suits it perfectly❤
PPS... Your mom is always with you. She sees how wonderful you're doing, and what an amazing family you and your wife have created. God bless❤
I'm an 74 year old white lady. I would be so very proud to be your mom. God bless you.
Cannot control the heart strings ..man or woman..this sing hits home..its ok to get misty eyed...it means something.
Alan Jackson always makes you FEEL life. This one is a favorite.
Thanks! That reaction is everything you could want from a reaction. That song is everything you could want from a country song. And you will definitely want to check out Alan Jackson’s “Drive” which specially captures parent’s relationship with their children from generation to generation.
This song never fails to bring a tear to my eyes. Love Alan's voice.
The #1 reason I love your reactions is because you are 100% Real. Thank you for YOU!
💯💯💯💯👏🏻❤️❤️
Your Mom is Still WITH & watching out for you BP! SHE'S PROUD OF YOU!!!
Music is amazing it can pump ya up for a fight, entertaining for a long drive, and helps you reflect on who you are and who you want to be.
Alan Jackson is amazing! Love all his music! So glad you are checking him out ❤
Great videos of Alan Jackson joining Jimmy Buffet for "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" and joining George Strait for "Amarillo by Morning". Great live Performances!
The power of country music....it hits you in the heart. Great reaction!
Thank you, thank you for reacting to Alan Jackson! I feel like we are continuing to celebrate 💐 his life. He really did leave us too soon.😓😮💨
