In June of 2009, I was in the navy and my fiancée and I split after ten years together, since high school. I broke things off with her because we had different life goals - I wanted kids, and she wanted tubal litigation. The night we separated, she intentionally OD'd on a cocktail of OTC meds - she had never used in her life. Her last journal entry had a photo of me and the words "Aurelia cannot live without her other half." I quickly deteriorated over the next few months. @@cvabuck5489 I truly understand what you’re feeling and why. My first husband literally drank himself to death after I left him, taking our children. He was already a functional alcoholic, but managed to keep it under control most of the time when we were married. After I left, he flat out told me he didn’t have to rein himself in anymore. He died in three years from cirrhosis of the liver. The guilt I still feel after 21 years is something I have had to learn to live with. I just want you to know you are not alone. Because of that line I've started saying that all of us are commiting suic... The only difference is our weapon of choice. Some people end it quick and others draw it out over a lifetime. Think about it. Everyone knows smoking is bad for you and can kill you but there are those continuing to smoke. Their death will take years but they chose that method to die. Others choose food as a weapon. There's also reckless driving, dangerous jobs, drugs, walking in unsafe areas and playing with venomous snakes. We all do something that takes the risk of death. Playing with fire and our lives. No one will live forever but most of us choose when and how we will die.
You need to listen to a song that rips your heart out every now and then. It reminds us that we are all facing hard trials in our lives. Now go and tell your wife you love her. 👍🤟
I've got a few songs that hit like that. This one, 'Don't Take the Girl', 'One More Light', and 'Kilkelly, Ireland'. They cause such a reaction, a somewhat painful one, that adds to their beauty.
@@Gottsmote also 'wrong side of heaven,' 'three rugged crosses,' and both versions 'Traveling Soldier' by Dixie Chicks and Home Free. I prefer the home free version
This is WWII. They were married. Brad Paisley and Allison Krause can tear your heart out. Please check out more of their songs, collectively and single. ❤ It keeps us on the "Straight and Narrow!" We see what can go wrong so fast. This reminds us that actions have consequences. Mistakes made can break 💔 and lives. Such a sad tale told so simply.❤❤
I’m a 57yo white woman from down under and I 100% concur “never deny crying” no matter who you are but I have always said “only real men cry!” I have 2 daughters and I have always told them, if they ever date a guy who can’t cry they should dump him and move on. The days of real men don’t cry should be long gone but sadly not yet. People need to understand that emotional intelligence is vital for us all to lead happy and fulfilling lives at the very least and would really change the world if only more people would understand and get on board!
@@mattschroeder3432 What happened to the Forestall? When I was a kid and was on the shore of Hampton Roads, my cousins and I watched the Forestall get launched after being in dry dock at the Newport News Shipyard. That was awesome. Two of my Aunts and their families lived right there across from Norfolk and those summers there were so much a part of my young life. We could see the Navy planes hauling big targets behind them for maneuvers . My brother went into port there for a short leave and he came over to NN to see the family and I was heading back to my gramma's house and there was a Sailor walking up the sidewalk in front of me in his white uniform. Turned out to be my big brother coming to surprise the family. I was so excited to see him. 🥰

@@jamesenglebert9149He Didn't Have To Be really hits home for me because my Dad chose me. I was living in an orphanage and at 18 I was aged out of the home. Still a ward of the state waiting to graduate. I needed to move in with a foster family and my Dad and Mom said yes. I'm 54 now. Dad is 12 years older then me and mom is just 10 years older. People find it weird that I call them mom and dad because of the age difference. I'm still old enough to remember my birth parents. I was 7 when we were taken away from them. Birth mom used whiskey as her method of dying. Birth father was scum of the earth. My foster parents have been my mom and dad much longer than my birth parents were. It's been 35 years since I moved in with them. They have 6 children of their own but I'm always the big brother to them. They didn't have to be my mom and dad but they chose me. I gave Dad a Brad Paisley CD one year for his birthday. It had that song on it. As he listened to that song I saw tears rolling down his cheek.
I told my daughter and my son in law. Do NOT cheat on each other, don’t hit each other, and don’t go to bed angry at each other, plus tell each other “I love you “ everyday because you never know what will happen. I love this song. My grandparents spit up when my mom was 14 and never got back together and never dated anyone else. But too stubborn to say sorry first and I know this for a fact because I watched my grandad at my grandmother's coffin, clinging and crying saying he never stopped loving her 😢
That was my parents too. They split for nealry 20yrs but never actually divorced. My dad never moved on. Always sent her flowers on her birthday and their anniversary. To the day he passed, he said he loved her. He's been gone 10+yrs now and she has also not moved on. They both had issues, PRIDE was the nail, coffin and grave.

My wife and I split just before a during my 9th deployment. This song became a staple. I wish I could've seen it as a warning, instead of wallowing in my misery and trying to end myself through abuse and alcohol. Not a single time did I listen with a dry eye. Four years later, i was struck by lightning, while riding my motorcycle home from work and it was the catalyst for us getting back together and working our stuff out. Realizing, in that hospital bed, that the only thing and person I wanted was her. Still- to this day, I can't get through it without a tear. I'm so grateful that God used what He did to bring us back together.
I used to sing this with my daughter karaoke. She passed a few short years ago, and this song that used to sound so good when she'd sing it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for the reaction
Keith Anderson....."I Still Miss You". This song came out right after I had lost someone that I loved and it seemed like I couldn't listen to the radio without hearing it. Made me cry every time I heard it.
I have met Brad numerous times due to my previous life as a photojournalist. Man is a solid dude and can rock a guitar. His whole catalogue is amazing. Mud on the tires is a great album to introduce you to him
I had absolutely no intentions of crying today, then I saw your reaction to this song and had to see it, one of my absolute favorite songs and it makes me tear up every time
My wife went to High School with Brad. He was a couple of classes ahead of her. His song, "Letter to Me" always makes her happy because she knew many of the people Brad talks about in that song. Glen Dale / Moundsville, WV in the house!
My best friend Adam got deployed right after 9/11 but had gotten married before he left, the woman he married had an affair and got pregnant. She tried passing the baby off as his and he started to fall for it til he did the math on dates and realized the child wasn't old enough to be his.
I love these two singers. Allison’s voice is pure. If you hear her live and close your eyes, you could swear you’re listening to the recording. They don’t need theatrics nor enhancers. They sing simple lines with beautiful harmony. I use to be an opera singer and love Bach and Pachelbel, but these two make real music. You need to hear Brad’s song about his stepfather. And listen to Allison with the union station.
Good to see you appreciate these two country greats, Brad Paisley, and the haunting voice of the one and only Allison Kraus. Hope you continue your journey thru Country music with some of the greatest song writers of all time.
Brad Paisley’s catalog is amazing!!! He has such songs that tear at your heart, some that bring you happy tears and some that are just enjoyable. Didn’t Have to Be, I Wish You’d Stay Waiting On A Wonan, Letter To Me, Alcohol. Start with these. All Prime Time Hits!!!!
Allison Krause has an angel voice and it looks like it takes not effort, watch her. Listen to "Let me touch you for a while" & " The Lucky one", both are great!!!
My son, now 15, loved Dumbo when he was itty bitty, so I looked up "Baby Mine" one day because he was kind of singing it. I found Allison Krause's version and it blew me away! I'd never heard her before. An angel for sure!
I got chills the first time I saw her face light up in this video. I knew she was the singer. The way they brought her in. She is so breathtakingly beautiful to me. I have a girl crush. 🤣
Absolutely the best opening line of any song. It paints such a hard picture. "She put him out like, the burning end of a midnight cigarette" , that's a deep statement
This is a incredible song. Their voices together are so unreal. The song puts you right in the middle of it became so many people have had a similar experience. I cant think of another two people that could sing this song any better.
Whispering Bill Anderson wrote it and it has made me bawl for twenty years now. There could have been no one else to do it justice than Brad and Allison. Bill is not only a fabulous recording artist but a genius songwriter.
First thing I did was check to see if you’ve done “I’m Going to Miss Her” yet. You’re one of my favorite reactors, and I can’t believe you had done so little country. You have one heck of a rabbit hole with Brad and country music in general.
Bradley Paisley sings songs that can be just true stories. Listen to he didn't have to be. I'm 40 years old and cry every time I hear it because it's 100% my story down to the ages of the kid
If you think this one is sad, you don't want to watch "Fire Away" by Chris Stapleton. Absolutely heartwrenching. Soul crushing and beautiful at the same time.
"The Father, My Son, and The Holy Ghost" by Craig Morgan. I've watched WAY to many men in my life have had to bury sons for that one not to hit me in the gut
The art of good country music is telling a great story that people can relate to. Not all of those stories are happy ones in our lives, but if they can make us stop, think and feel there's tremendous value in the telling. Doing it with this kind of somber beauty is tremendous.
We love your sensitivity, don't ever stop showing it. The time period is most likely WW2 by the fashion and the model of the bus. BTW, I come back every day because you don't edit your feelings and reactions. ❤
It’s always been a hauntingly beautiful song to me. The ending speaks of forgiveness. If not in this world, in the next. Brad Paisley and Allison Krause were a perfect match for that “sound.”
Brad is an amazing artist and one of the best guitarists! You definitely wont regret checking out more of his stuff! Waiting on a woman, didn't have to be, letter too me, just to list a few great songs!
Brad is an absolute BEAST on the guitar! I love his song featuring Keith Urban "Start A Band" (Official Video). You can see how much fun they were having making the video, but they also showed off their skills on the guitar!
This is heartbreaking. I've always loved this song, and always cry whenever I see & hear this. Your reaction is spot on, sir. You've got a beautiful heart!
So glad you got to my local Ohio Valley storyteller! Brad was raised in Glen Dale WV and is one of the top Country music singers. I personally am not into much Country Music, but I love his wonderful guitar playing and songs that are real and make you laugh, cry and remember times of your life. He is a member on the Grand Ole Opry.

My great uncle was shot down in WWII and a POW for 6 months, with another 6 months of the Army trying to feed him enough to get his strength back. I don't know if his wife was told when they found him, but she had moved on , thinking he was dead.
Brad Paisley is one of the best song writer/story tellers out there and one hell of a guitar player. He has many songs that'll bring a tear to your eye but also so many that'll have you laughing. You need to check out more of his music. Letter to me, we danced, waiting on a woman, wrapped around her finger, he didn't have to be, celebrity, and so many more.

My husband and I saw Allison Krause live with Willie Nelson, in Simpsonville SC. When she sang this with another singer, a breeze came through the field. She had the voice of an Angel and I believe they came in the breeze to hear her. I believe it was Doug Stone did that duet with her.
Country music...3 chords and the truth. The words are the power behind country music and why i have loved country music my entire life. Its real and its relevant.
Brad Paisley also did "Don't Laugh at Me" give it a listen, it will give you a different perspective on the differences in people, being blind it has a special meaning for me. He is a great storyteller
First time watching this genre. First I would like to thank your dad for his years of service. I love your insight in describing what you thought of the song and letting us see your emotions. I have just subscribed. My bio dad was in the army and died during his service leaving my mom with 2 kids to raise. She remarried a great man (who served in the marines) who adopted us and always treated us as his own kids. This is one of my favorite songs because it makes realize the not everything in life is wonderful and I need to show my love for my extended family. I cry through the whole song. I thank every soldier and veteran for their service so every American can live free.
I have listened to this song since it came out in the early 2000s and was not even a teenager yet, and I can tell you - 21 years later, IT STILL MAKES ME CRY EVERY FREAKING TIME. It's a lovely song, but absolutely devastating.
I always cry at it too because of the inability of people to just bite the bullet and work things out. It's not easy but it's worth all the work. This story was about a waste of two lives.
If you are continuing on your journey into country you cannot leave out the greatest country music legend that ever lived, the "silver possum" Mr, George Jones. I would start with He Stopped Loving Her Today and go from there, Just be careful no to fall down the rabbit hole of this truly greatest legend of all time Mr. George Jones.
“Silver Possum”. Cool story. George Jones was called the possum. Charlie Rich was the Silver Fox. I never heard of the Silver Possum and I bet you didn’t either
This song evokes so much emotion in me. I'm a very guarded person. I didn't shed a tear for 13 years until my passed away last year. This song is beautiful

I've never heard a better opening line in music. It is poetry that immediately sets the tone and expectation for every word and note that comes after.
"He put a bottle to his head,
And pulled the trigger..."
This line never fails to throatpunch me dead in the feels
For me, it hits harder in the second verse.
My husband of 33 years died in May 2024. Anything to numb the pain 😞
Exactly what my dad did after my mom died. He put the bottle to his head and pulled the trigger. 3 mths after she died.
@@lisacollins3735 So sorry for your loss. I hope that you are doing ok. I'm praying for you 🙏🏼.
@@Gottsmoteto add to the list, Fire Away, Concrete Angel, Give Heaven Some Hell, and You Should be here
@@Gottsmote also 'wrong side of heaven,' 'three rugged crosses,' and both versions 'Traveling Soldier' by Dixie Chicks and Home Free. I prefer the home free version
@MrMetamorFitness concrete angel always gets me. I don't listen to it often lol.
@@finalboss1015 I almost always end up loving the Home Free version better, even when the originals are good. Those guys are amazing
This is WWII. They were married. Brad Paisley and Allison Krause can tear your heart out. Please check out more of their songs, collectively and single. ❤
It keeps us on the "Straight and Narrow!" We see what can go wrong so fast. This reminds us that actions have consequences. Mistakes made can break 💔 and lives.
Such a sad tale told so simply.❤❤
No matter how many times I’ve heard this…tears! It’s hauntingly beautiful. That Paisley brought Alison Krauss in on this one was pure genius 💜💜💜
I know I'm late to the show but never deny crying. I'm 57, white , and Navy. Only real men cry. Love you little brother
48 and still the waterworks with this song.
tears fall because we are strong enough not to. our dad is U.S. Navy and our dad survived the tragedy of the uss Forestall
62 and Air Force. Cry every damn time...
Brad Paisley is one of the best story singers!!! Listen to more!!!!
Perhaps one of his funnier songs next time or “He didn’t have to be”
@@jamesenglebert9149 Was not familiar with Brad's music, sorry to admit. Just heard "There Ain't No "I" in Beer." Fun, yet patriotic. Cheer yourself up with this one BP. I needed to...and I don't even drink!
Not just one of the best singers, but is on another level as a guitar player.
1 of the greatest guitar players ever
I cry every time I hear it. Thank you once again for another great reaction. Take care.
One of all time favorite song by Brad Paisley is "When I get where im going". I believe it would be a great one to react to.
Communication breaks down when pride gets in the way. Addiction is a beast. In the end it was the faith of a child to see they were ok .
This was meant to take place in the 40's and WWII
Though the subject could be about any war or soldiers coming home. Unfortunately, it's timeless 😞
One of the saddest songs I've ever heard in country music
@@CheyenneNixon-p8m Just a suggestion if you've never heard it, Concrete Angel by Martina Mcbride is another one that will make you heartbroken. But it's so good
Exactly
@robertroberson7434 another good one that makes me bawl to this day and I listen to right after Whiskey Lullaby is Just a Dream by Carrie Underwood the video is a masterpiece another one is Christmas I listen to is December 1943 by John Michael Montgomery it is so good there are so many heart breakers
My grandparents spit up when my mom was 14 and never got back together and never dated anyone else. But too stubborn to say sorry first and I know this for a fact because I watched my grandad at my grandmother's coffin, clinging and crying saying he never stopped loving her 😢
That's truly tragic.
@@charliecrowley1070 yes it is
That was my parents too. They split for nealry 20yrs but never actually divorced. My dad never moved on. Always sent her flowers on her birthday and their anniversary. Brad's song He Didn't Have To Be is another great song.
Amazing song!!
A tear jerker.
Hey man....."When I Get Where I'm Going" Brad and Dolly.....your response touched my old heart. The time is ....eternal / internal.
I’m glad you had that reaction to this video. I wish more people were as passionate about fidelity and loyalty to our service members. Our Military are heroes & God bless them for their service & their FAITHFUL SPOUSES ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That line, "Put that bottle to his/her head and pulled the trigger...'. The imagery and power to such a simple sentence is wild.
I always thought it should’ve been, “poured the trigger” but both worked.
One of the most beautiful and sorrowful songs ever written. The worst part about people is that they are human.
No matter how many times I hear this song, I cry. Ricky does a fantastic job in this video.
I've seen this video several times and ever time I cry. 😢😂 Beautiful ❤️
Cuts too close to home for me. Love the song. The memories are hard.
❤❤ So glad you found eachother again when needing it most
Whoa! I'm glad you got back together. Real love works miracles.
I used to sing this with my daughter karaoke. She passed a few short years ago, and this song that used to sound so good when she'd sing it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for the reaction
😢
Brother, my Pops almost did this, but thankfully, I'm here. He passed away on Christmas Eve 6 years ago at 60 with cancer. Semper Fi Pops
Sorry for your loss
@garth1962 Thanks brother
I'm sorry for your loss, but so happy you got more time with him. Time is always precious.
Pops is in Valhalla with his warrior brothers. RIP SF.
I'm so sorry for your loss
The most important heartbreak is Waiting On A Woman by Brad and Andy Griffith
Yes!!!
Absolutely THIS!
"ill wait for you" by Joe Nichols and also, and i cant stress this one enough, "stay" by Sugarland.
That was the first song I heard after my grandmother passed away in 2013. I just pictured my grandfather waiting on that bench since 1994
Keith Anderson....."I Still Miss You". This song came out right after I had lost someone that I loved and it seemed like I couldn't listen to the radio without hearing it. Made me cry every time I heard it.
Alcohol & I’m gonna miss her are two of the funniest songs ever written, and they’re both by him. He’s as talented a writer as a guitar player.
Yes! And don't forget Celebrity. Another funny one.
It's not by Brad but have ya ever heard "redneck love gone bad" ? It's hilarious and it's gotta be a true story
Yes! My picks are High Life and The Cigar Song. He has a brilliant sense of humour
I like Check You for Ticks 😂
I have met Brad numerous times due to my previous life as a photojournalist. Man is a solid dude and can rock a guitar. His whole catalogue is amazing. Mud on the tires is a great album to introduce you to him
I had absolutely no intentions of crying today, then I saw your reaction to this song and had to see it, one of my absolute favorite songs and it makes me tear up every time
Two of my favourite Brad Paisley songs are He Didn’t Have To Be & Waiting on a Woman
Waiting on a Woman is a fantastic song!
Oh I LOVE didn't have to be.
My wife went to High School with Brad. He was a couple of classes ahead of her. His song, "Letter to Me" always makes her happy because she knew many of the people Brad talks about in that song. Glen Dale / Moundsville, WV in the house!
No other genre tells a story better than Country music!!!!🤠 That's why songs like these have such an impact!
Welcome to the lives of military, veterans, and first responders everywhere
As a veteran and military spouse, unfortunately it happens on both sides of the coin. I haven't seen this one in years and it just did me in.
My best friend Adam got deployed right after 9/11 but had gotten married before he left, the woman he married had an affair and got pregnant. She tried passing the baby off as his and he started to fall for it til he did the math on dates and realized the child wasn't old enough to be his.
Sad
And their families.

Not only is it important to be faithful to your partner, but this also shows how important it is to forgive each other.
Nope. Cheat once always a cheat.
They can both sing! That's why people wanted you to watch. They sing amazingly together!
Brad Paisle She’s Everything, When I Get to Where I’m Going ft. Dolly, Baby Remind Me ft. Carrie Underwood, Waiting on a Woman. All of his are good!
Remind Me saved my marriage. ❤️
Love that song.
"Lucky One" ❤
My son, now 15, loved Dumbo when he was itty bitty, so I looked up "Baby Mine" one day because he was kind of singing it. I found Allison Krause's version and it blew me away! I'd never heard her before. An angel for sure!
Alison Krauss is my favorite female singer, any genre any time period.
I got chills the first time I saw her face light up in this video. I knew she was the singer. The way they brought her in. She is so breathtakingly beautiful to me. I have a girl crush. 🤣
Lucky One is my favorite song ❤
Brad Paisley is great. He is also one of the best guitarists alive, not just country guitarist, one of the best guitarists PERIOD.
PLEASE DO MORE BRAD PAISLEY!!!!!!!
Allison has the voice of an angel
Allison Krauss and Amy Lee have Angelical voices
Can't listen to that anymore it was played at my dad's funeral
Right here with You, Crying, living here, and Dad in the Army for 30+ Years.
Two of the best in Country Music.
Brad paisley I’m gonna miss her. Think you’ll get a kick out of that one. 🤠
Absolutely he will! People Please request it!
Yes! Both my husband and I got a kick out of it when we heard it because we loved to fish in our younger years. LOL!
This song always makes my eyes leak. I no shit only will listen to it through to the end when I know I’m in a space that I feel comfortable crying.
Not the only one...
Definitely not the only one.
Bradley Paisley sings songs that can be just true stories. Listen to he didn't have to be. I'm 40 years old and cry every time I hear it because it's 100% my story down to the ages of the kid
That's the song my wife plays every year on our anniversary, I married her and became a stepdad
That one does hit hard
If you think this one is sad, you don't want to watch "Fire Away" by Chris Stapleton. Absolutely heartwrenching. Soul crushing and beautiful at the same time.
Concrete Angel is hard to listen to
"The Father, My Son, and The Holy Ghost" by Craig Morgan. I've watched WAY to many men in my life have had to bury sons for that one not to hit me in the gut
This is one of those songs up there with Don’t Take the Girl, He Stopped Loving Her Today, and Riding with Private Malone.
Damn BP... this song is not for the weak. (Written before watching) Hits harder to those of us who have survived a lullaby.
The art of good country music is telling a great story that people can relate to. Not all of those stories are happy ones in our lives, but if they can make us stop, think and feel there's tremendous value in the telling. Doing it with this kind of somber beauty is tremendous.
I'm sitting here crying. Just hearing the song on the radio makes me cry.
Thank you brother. 25 years in and have lived this. Retired in COS.. I have lived this song. You hit the nail 9n the head. Again thank you
We love your sensitivity, don't ever stop showing it.
I'd like to check her for ticks ... Another great Brad Paisley song
Brad is an absolute BEAST on the guitar! I love his song featuring Keith Urban "Start A Band" (Official Video). You can see how much fun they were having making the video, but they also showed off their skills on the guitar!
I sobbed through this whole thing. Such a heart breaking song. And Allison is AMAZING singer. I have her song “I am weary “ on repeat
I love this song so much but it makes me cry so much every time. I call this song 'hauntingly beautiful'.

This video and your reaction shows the power of music. Thank you for being willing to show your raw emotions. There is a beauty in that.
He does have fun songs, too. Check out "I'm Gonna Miss Her". The official video for "Waitin' On a Woman" is one of the best!
Both of these are great! Also Remind Me by Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood.
Brad Paisley is one of the best song writer/story tellers out there and one hell of a guitar player. He has many songs that'll bring a tear to your eye but also so many that'll have you laughing. This is my first time watching your channel, and I find you to be so inciteful, tender, full of depth, thoughtful, and articulate. I will be watching your channel from now on. Thanks for watching this beautiful song/video. Stories line this expand our hearts. Take care...
The story is heartbreaking but the tune and the duet itself is so gorgeous. They all meld together perfectly.
"When I get where I'm going" is another great song by Brad Paisley
I agree with this person
I forgot how many big hits he had... ***WE DANCED***
I'm not into country but both my daughters thanks to their late dad do and like this song.
I waited for my husband every minute of every day full of love never needing or wanting anyone but him💜💜
I have never been able to listen to this song without crying.
This and "When I Get Where I am Going" are must listen to for emotional responses.
My husband and I saw Allison Krause live with Willie Nelson, in Simpsonville SC. When she sang this with another singer, a breeze came through the field. She had the voice of an Angel and I believe they came in the breeze to hear her. I believe it was Doug Stone did that duet with her.
it made you cry just like it did to all of us that have watched it
Country music...3 chords and the truth. The words are the power behind country music and why i have loved country music my entire life. Its real and its relevant.
I have heard this song dozens of times, and I sob through it every single time.
I love this song so much because it tells both sides of the story ❤❤everyone makes mistakes ❤❤
Brad Paisley also did "Don't Laugh at Me" give it a listen, it will give you a different perspective on the differences in people, being blind it has a special meaning for me. He is a great storyteller
The actor Ricky Schroeder (The Champ, Lonesome Dove) is the soldier in the video. He also directed it, and the little girl at the end is his daughter.
Love Brad Paisley and Allison has one of those voices. I recommend more especially Allison she will blow your mind.
Came here to say the same thing. He stopped loving her today. That'll get the waterworks going.
The soldier is Ricky Shroder of 'Silver Spoons' fame, among other shows.
This song evokes so much emotion in me. I'm a very guarded person. I didn't shed a tear for 13 years until my passed away last year. This song is beautiful
