- Is This The Best Enduro Trail In The World? Part 2
By far my most popular video on the channel has been the "Is This The Best Enduro Trail In The World?" video that I made on the Top Chief trail in Fort William.
As popular a video as it was and as good as it has been for my channel, I don’t think its a great video, so I decided to go back and see if I could make a better one.
So here it is, what do you think?

That's taken your videos from a 10/10 to an 12/10. More of this type of editing please. An absolute joy to watch. Well done mate. Going from strength to strength!
One of the best mtb videos I’ve ever watched. The drone footage is amazing especially with your commentary. So much better to get an idea of the trail. Brilliant. Keep it up.
Definitely my favourite UK trail. So much fun, and more challenging than the GoPro Effect leads you to believe! You were absolutely hammering that run...serious skills!!!!
More challenging??! Geez. I was thinking the drone angle made it look doable, but at the POV angle I went NOPE. So to know it's worse than that in person.. O.o
Don't be so harsh on yourself dude. The first video was great!
The viewers loved it, it helped you progress as a youtuber. No need for any negatives.
You have become a better rider, and a better video editor, so now its time for round 2!
Looks epic Andy! The drone footage is amaze balls. Such a rad day to be riding, cheers for letting us tag along for the day!!
Jason from Aus
I spent 3 days in Fort William in April 2019 but was unable to fit in time to go and ride this amazing looking trail. Thanks for putting this video together, I’ll be sure to come back and rewatch it again and again whenever I’m needing a MTB fix during these snowy months. Cheers!
Looks like you need to plan another trip then 👍
@@McTrailRider absolutely! It's already being discussed. I just watched your Glencoe video too, so now I'll have two spots to make sure I don't miss.
Woww!!!...Spettacolare! !!...non ho mai visto una pista da downhill così bella !!!...che paesaggio stupendo!!!...grazie del bellissimo video !!!...me lo sono guardato tre volte !!!...ciao mitico !!!
That Boulder near 10:02.... made me wince. Great stuff altogether.
Wow that was insane! That bike is an absolute tank it took everything you threw at it and it coasted down at ease! Beast of a trail!
Do you know this,i've just watched this video from start to finish,i don't even think i blinked once, absolutely fantastic stuff, well done .
The Nevis range,Fort William.. as good as it gets .
You certainly achieved a truly professional edge to your filmmaking there. Excellent and all the best.
Intro, drone footage, commentary, riding, video quality, Scottish accent 👌 😆 🍻
Amazing Andy! Great shots and firing on that last run.....must have been a top ten?!! Was awesome to hang out with you and Jason that day, thanks a lot for inviting me to tag along. Hopefully catch you again sometime. 👍👍👌
Great to meet you Roger, such an epic day of riding. Was spent for the next few days!!
Cheers @@oldmangnar6541 . Yeah, totally was epic....so good to have a days riding in that awesome weather . I managed to find a river with rock pools to jump in at the end of the day....was lush. Was having a look at Andy's glencoe vid with you in, and that red line looks awesome....would like to have a go at that before end of summer (or even autumn ) .
@@rog86 the red trail is an absolute blast, worth checking out the black for a look too!
Nice, yeah it looked it...lots of nice berms.....looked flowy.... you back in NZ now?
This deserves to be seen, and liked, much more widely. Defo one of the better MTB videos (and runs 👍) out there. Strava though, haha, exactly the sort of thing that happens to me on a far too regular basis.
Superb stuff. Watched this with my 7 year old. "When we going Dad??"...
My heart was in my mouth watching you go downhill, looked so fast and precarious round some of those bends. The bike must take a pounding from those rocks. Great camera work...🙌
Great Video thanks. Love this trail, spent a day on it in the wet about 3 years ago. I need to come back and try it in the sunshine, I can't think of anything better.
This trail is one of the best I ever see.. I'm like it ...very nice Go pro effect
I had to pause this for a while, I was knackered watching it. Nice one.
Fantastic. Watched it on the big telly. Such good footage. Looking forward to watching it again, making me want to go back for another shot at top chief myself. Cheers.
Amazing run. My heart was in my mouth most of the time. I’m sure I’d have had 3 collar bones done on the run 😂 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻
Wow that was exhilarating for sure. I watched this video 2 times and shared it. Nice job on the downhill it is fast. The bike handled those big rocks and boulders like they weren't there awsome great job on the video I'm hooked for sure thanks to you🤘🍻🏁
I fell off my bike in my head about 18 times just watching you go down there. Hehe. Wow now that was ultra fast. Excellent stuff Such skills
😂😂 cheers dude
Wow man. The drone stuf looks BRILLIANT. Gives such a nice alternative perspective. Love the overview you gave in the intro as well! Proper cinematics! Also, sick riding 💪
Such an extraordinary trail, need to come to Scotland with the family just to ride this trail, it's on my list. Thanks for showing us around, the footage is just great!
As every one else has said , brilliant video , drone , pov footage and coms , all put together very nicely ..
That last run was super sick Andy, you are a savage 👊
Drones take photography to a whole new level!! Incredible!!
After watching this I'm tempted to drive up on Wednesday and ride it Thursday 👍
That is an absolute awesome video. Love the drone footage and the 2nd run was great!!
Thanks Ben
I've been entertained and now want to go. Top job!
Awesome vid mate, drone shots were unreal tbh!
Awesome, and who ever says down hill doesn't give any exercise needs to watch this. Must get my butt in the car and go up and have a few goes one weekend. Never have before because the day I turn up it would rain and me rain and wood just dont go together.
Fabulous job, thank you very much.
My son and I rode this a couple of weeks ago, he loved it and did really well, me less so for a few reasons. Hopefully we will try it again next year.
Thanks Derek, is an incredible trail! But it did take some getting used to.
Holy s**t man, that was epic.... gotta be your beat video yet.
The drone footage to start was superb, absolutely stunning to see.
And your Strava run was mental. Full send and attack mode was engaged Hahaha
Amazing man, amazing 🤙
@@McTrailRider I honestly couldn't any way of it getting better...
Hearing your Strava time maybe but I imagine that's a bit of a sore spot.... I'm gutted and it wasn't even my ride.
Have been following you for a while this was some of your best footage. Well done
Such a good vid mate! We did a drive through and a bit of hiking to the falls a couple years ago, I’d love to come back to Scotland to ride though, this is awesome.
The camera work and riding is on point man... great job.
The best filming I have ever seen with a drone.
Congratulations!
Mate. Epic. As someone wanting to get into mtb riding this encourages me and frightens me off in equal measure.
@@McTrailRider Yeah thankfully! I've given the blue run at Cannop in the Forest of Dean a go, absolutely got the bug. Brilliant shots here man, thanks again!
Insane trail and great footage! Well done👍
what a jaw dropping run you did there i was on edge of my pc chair lol......the drone footage is superb well done the best and most exciting mtb video ive seen.
1st...finally got drone footage worthwhile.
2nd...f....king shame about the strava. I was hoping to see the times.
3rd...damn good riding.
4th...sooo satisfying to see that awesome new bike eat up those huge rocks.
Amazing stuff Andy. Great use of footage captured. Oh and the bike skills... nuff said.
The footage from the drone was sweet, but i personally got a weird disconnect from the video as it still had the audio of the riding. kinda just threw off my visual / audio communication. killer riding and super fast on the board walks, definitely thought you were going to launch off it a few times. Will look forward to a strava redemption run 👍
Mate, that drone shot edit at the beginning is brillant! Fits really nice with the music too👍
Hats off, I dont understand your time on this one! I follow you on strava and am pretty close on most enduro style trails, but you blow me away on this!
Brilliant video. The drone really helps get a sense of the place. It’s also interesting to see your technique, which isn’t apparent from the GoPro helmet mount. Well done!
Will you be coming to Fife any time?
I agree on the technique thing. Very cool to see an advanced rider properly hop/jump things. Super insightful!
Best quality mtb video ever !!!
Great video and footage man, will be adding this one to my trail list! I love the way you mount your GoPro to your helmet dude, it gives the viewer a cracking sense of reality!
50 / 50, the intro / tune on the previous made it for me, solid content as is your default.
If there is one thing I'd like to do is ride that trail. I am practicing my skills to be able to do it. But what you just did in this video is absolutely amazing. That speed and beautiful footage... i'm amazed!
@@McTrailRider Going for it :-) Still have that tree from Learnie Red Rocks on my mind :-)
Love your videos mate I think you should seriously consider offering people guided MTB tours in Scotland I think you would have a lot of interest off people who want to ride the trails you do but are unsure how to go about it. I think people would be happy to pay for your knowledge of Scotland’s trails
I get people saying this to me a lot, but I’m not overly interested to be honest.
I hope my videos are enough to help many people know where to go and what to do though.
Awesome video Andrew that’s just perfect terrain for the drone . You certainly weren’t hanging back on the last run how does that compare to Golspie not to keen on all the boardwalk at the chief
Outstanding Mate..Ain't tuned in for a while..No Mojo..Look what I'm Missing...
Wow just wow 🤘 I think everyone new to MTB should watch this Andrew . It has beautiful views from drone and some of the best fucking riding I’ve seen from POV.. thank you for putting in the hard work . I know the strava didn’t record your run but you must be happy with that ride🤘🤘🤘
Just found this video, the drone footage is really good again but I do like the on board camera. I can almost feel the vibration. Another good video.
super cool trail and fast riding! although strange different lines you took on rocks sections...
btw got scared myself in 10:00 with odd entry angle
Nice work Andrew (and good to meet you at Transcend)
Amazing footage, so much better than the last one! You absolutely flew down there it's amazing how well you know the place. Does this bike have more travel than the evil? Would be interesting to know if it's more, is it better? My hope brakes are on the way I can't wait 😍👌
Hi. You are awesome. Great channel and a mind blowing video. How do you pack your drone controller and mobile phone to ensure there are no adverse presses of the phone screen or controller which stops the active track? I also have a Mavic and tried all sorts of options by packing my controller & phone into my back pack but usually end up with the drone stopping because the phone screen or a button on the controller has been pressed inadvertently. Cheers. Big Stuart.
Wow that’s incredible 😄 love the drone footage
Epic video! Looks and sounds like you're galloping on a horse in some of those rough sections. Awesome.
Fantastic video Andrew,really well done!x
Awesome mate, I was hanging on to my iPad on every turn 😳 great bike too, took everything in its stride.
Great use of the drone dude! I'm surprised it was able to keep up (using active track I assume?)
Really need to head up to Scotland for a weekend of riding! 👌 Awesome footage!
Man, thats epic.. Gotta book me a ride there.. Sweet vid man :)
Outstanding run!! Gutted the strava nightmare hit 🙈🙈😬 but another great watch 🤘
oh man, sheer madness, stunnng! Glad someone else, not me, is running that trail...
🚴 great stuff buddy the bike is flying over the rough terrain I'm sure that bloke was call out for you lol 😜 for help 😉 great stuff buddy 👌👍
Great video, that drone footage at the beginning was awesome, shame about strava because judging by the POV of that last run you were flying!
Agreed great video but I don't get the whole Strava thing myself.it measures speed yes but it doesn't measure fun and the fast line is rarely the fun line .it really does bring out bad egos in some people .
I was lucky enough to ride this back in June 2009
Was up for my 30 th birthday watching the dh and on the following Tues went to check it out and it was far from finished but the guy laying the stuff on the boardwalk was amazing and radio the other guys lower down and let us ride it .
I liked the drone footage, but the headcam gives more realistic feel. Especially if it is not something you do, I was breathing rapidly by the end. Thanks for the work out.
As a long time follower mate, I have to say that’s one of your best videos like. Would love to see you send the levo down that 🤘
Superb Andrew, McTrail Rider at his best! I’d be fumin about Strava though 😂
ANOTHER STUNNING video 🤩😍 THANKS for sharing‼️💯💯
Yeah man, I really loved the original video, but you step it up on this one. I can understand the frustration with Strava, it has happen to me too, specially when you know you did amazing!
Great footage and nicely ridden. Shame strava didn’t record the time for you. You’ll have to have another go.
Wish I had the guts to try that route. Well done 👍
Don’t have any clue why YT recommended this. I’m scared of heights and I would’ve fallen off this bike 3’ in but damn I wanna learn now!!!!!
Great video mate! I'd be raging at Strava haha reckon I could get a decentish time down Top Chief but the problem comes with doing it all in a oner. Good effort!
Smashing footage and skills mate!! Keep it up!
Doesn't matter what the time was because that was an epic run on a truly awesome trail 👌
Smash them thumbs up ...lol
Epic run mate that bike is great but its you who make it ...dont fancy those boards in the wet.. epic footage as ever Andrew 👍👍
Wow. Awesome ride my man. 👍 Great drone footage 👌.
So much fun to watch! I’d love to visit Scotland someday and ride that trail!
Never thought drone footage would work so well for a track preview but that was insanely good! Awesome to get a look at the trail and the views from a new perspective. When you mentioned your audio used to be a lot worse what are you using to record now? Just the hero 7 on the chin mount or do you have a microphone mounted somewhere else too? It's spot on whatever it is 👍
@@McTrailRider I use it straight from the Hero 7 too but you still seem to get less breathing noise than me, maybe I just need to up my fitness and be out of breath less haha!
Mate . That run was epic . You smashed it as usual . A shame starve didn’t record that would have definitely been in top ten a lot quicker then ur last run . Great vid keep up the good work bud 🤘👍
Brilliant. Love that drone footage and you were flying down there too.
Awesome ride mate. Pity about the Strava, though it’s only ya ego who gives a.....😉 Drone footage showed off the trail real good, what a fantastic track, glad you enjoyed and gave us some good views on the way🤙
Cracking video looked really fast! I haven't been to Fort William for a while but hopefully I will get up there before the season is finished!
epic vid m8.. and a great run by the looks of it 👌
Loving that drone footage probs the best I've seen so far well done🤙🤙riding was ace also great to watch thanks 🤘🤘
@@McTrailRider yeah these are the sort of trails we love we hit Dalby forest quite a bit but not as gnarly as this 😁🤘
Brilliant video. Love the drone edit.
Amazing footage! The best I've seen. Was this shot with a Hero 7 with no gimbal mount?
Brilliant video, need to ride fort bill at some point for sure! What do you think of the switchblade so far?
Not much luck with Strava lately. Unique footage of the trail from the drone showing it cut into the hillside. Never done a full run without stopping so no idea what my time would be. Managed 13:24 so would like to think I could get closer to 10mins.
Great video as always. You made it look so easy!! Incredible trail rivals any thing in the Alps.
Thanks buddy
Fantastic again mate you keep putting quality videos out 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧✅✅
Great Video! I wanna ride this trail soo bad (Gutted for you on the strava fail!)
Loved the drone footage and the rest was good too...you did very well coming down...now time yourself going up 😉😊👍🏼
McTrail Rider that’s cheating though LOL 😉😊🚡
Brilliant edit man , you definitely looked faster than last time ! So jealous right now lol you’re riding my dream bike on my dream trail ! Keep it up dude 🤘
McTrail Rider not been lucky enough to ride one yet , the only thing I wonder about is the grip shift , how have you found it ?
