How is Yuka so chill? She is such an interesting character. I could see her having a leg chopped off and being like, "Oh well, we better get that on ice"
😱 It *was* you!! I was riding around Wild Mersey in Latrobe and was like "nah, can't be.. he's from Canada, maybe just a lookalike?" but no! Kicking myself, should have said hi! Awesome vid, looks like you had an absolute blast and got to experience some of the best Tas has to offer 👍
Another good video. Most of us travel maybe an hour or two at the most for a good trail. It's easy to be a little jealous seeing you two all over the world riding amazing places and experiencing the culture. Of course I do realize that it's not always wine and roses, but it would be so cool to pack myself up this summer and maybe check off some great trails for about a week for vacation.
I'd love to head out there, and I have a seasonal business, so I could make it happen if I wanted ... Looked into New Zealand for January 2024 and the Airbnbs are suprisingly cheap (very cheap) plus there's no tax. Flight from US isn't *TOO* bad, but once you're down there, everything else is really pricey (lift tickets, shuttles and transportation, bike rental, etc) ... Biggest thing holding us back thigh is the 25 hour flight. Longest I've been on a plane was 10 years to Switzerland, and even that was miserable. Can't imagine that plus another 15 hours, especially flying commercial. And for the same price, I can go to Whistler in the summer, Aruba in the winter, and I'd save about 30 hours of flight time round trip.
Just discovered the channel and I was just thinking the production value and storytelling is actually like a high-budget local television program. It's like a local Canadian station trying to meet its quota for local content, except it's somehow the best show on the channel and I'm here for it. (I say all this endearingly.)
This is a great video guys. So stoked to see you hit that step down on AirYa Garn and enjoy Derby as much as I did. I can’t wait to see where ya end up next.
hey BCpov make sure you check out the tipppgoree trails in George town. while you are at st helens trails try and get the buggy ride up to the top of the hill and do mack 10 because the buggy ride to the top is a experience in itself so just check it out. I would also love to see you guys do dreaming pools as it is a really fun trail but make sure you take the shortcut out because the big uphill at the end is not fun to say the least.
yuka literally fills my heart with happiness, just so chill and like "well that happened, oh well" and would then carry on her day like nothing happened
Ha - rad to see you down in Derbs. Such a good vibe. I get back there every year (being from Melbourne) to soak in all it's natural glory. Loved the vid + the story.
I've been waiting for yours and Yuka's next videos after bumping into you in the shuttle line at Maydena. Tassie is such a great place for riding. Enjoy your epic trip, and maybe see you in WA if you decide to make the long drive across. Cheers!
Hi guys, nice to see you made it down my way. You both killed in on "Air Ya Garn" one of my favourite tails in Derby. Keep the rubber side down and the awesome vidoes comming :) Cheers from Tassie.
This series is great, especially getting to see you two navigate the different ways we do things here, hope you guys are exploring alot off camera also, that Gold Coast -> Melbourne drive is one of my favourites, I did it back in November and there's nothing better than exploring along that route, especially the Snowy Mountains, hopefully one of your next videos has you heading to Thredbo and Perisher
This is so awesome seeing you guys ride trails that we have ridden on in Australia!!! Love Derby and if you have made the trek to Tassie, then I can only assume a Maydena video wouldn't be too far off. Suggested places for you to ride as you head north again. In the state of Victoria as this has been the extent of my riding experience. You Yangs - about 45 min southwest of Melbourne, loose over hard packed. Mixture of different trails from flow to rock slabs and gardens Ballarat - short network of Blue/Black flow and jump trails Mt Buller - host of a few DH races. nuff said. Silvan - about 1hr east of Melbourne, loamy singletrack Mystic Mountain at Bright - premier MTB destination in VIC about 4 hours north of Melbourne. Mt Beauty - 30 min from Bright, old school DH tech. Absolute rabbit warren and have fun getting lost. Head out about 2-2.5 hours east of Melbourne to Traralgon and visit places like Haunted Hills, Maryvale Pines, Blores and Somewhere Good. Keep the aussie vids coming, love em!
Late to the party but you smashed those trails and this tale. Your videos are awesome and as you're an amazing storyteller. Well done and can't wait until the next one.
As a melbourne local, if you pass geelong, I highly reccomend the you yangs. Gnarly tech, flow, and amazing locals. Nothing crazy, just some nice trails.
Awesome to see you two down under. Looking forward to more content. You going to make it to Far North Queensland? Some awesome riding in and around Cairns. And Crankworx is just around the corner.
I wish I had known you were coming through Canberra, I hope some other locals showed you around? I have been to both Derby and Maydena twice and they are both special places to ride. Those Tasmanian ferns and forest are so beautiful to ride through. I need to go again. And great echidna footage. ;-)
Great video Eric 🤙🏼 …. Getting used to the Aussie lingo 😊 …. I was down at Luke’s trail last weekend. Had a blast … looking fwd for more Aussie videos from you both 🤙🏼
Loving your down-under vids as a Queenslander I hope to get to Derby one day. Mountain biking in most states of Australia in summer is an early morning or late afternoon hobby. On the weekends my local tracks are packed from 7am and nearly empty by 10am. In Australia we may not have the gnarly trails of North America but your chances of a hospital visit are just as likely thanks to unforseen encounters with wildlife. Nothing makes you question your life choices more than accidentally riding over a 5ft eastern brown or rounding a corner to come face to face with a 6ft tall emu (i've experience both).
Awesome riding at Tassie mate. Hope you and Yuka enjoying your stay here in Australia. 🤙🏽 If you ever go back NSW, i’m happy to give you a tour at Wollongong, heaps of best trails here. Yeeeww!
Great video guys thank you so much for showing what derby has to offer 🤘 it was great to meet you both, for anyone wondering they are just as nice and welcoming in person as they are on UA-cam, Luke (owner of bark off biking, sold you the chain lube 😂)
there's a place in victoria called bright with a mtb park called mystic it was everything you might want to see and makes people stuck there becuase its so good there's a compony called blue dirt that runs shuttles up Another place to see is Lake mountian it has a trail called Cascades and is a flow and tec blue trail that goes for 38km with a 15km long downhill stection it has mainly down hill but is some climbs and hella fun, theres shuttles that pick up at the end of the trail and take you to the top. in the trail there is other black and some double black line to follow, I live near there and am always happy to help Just a Aussie 16 ripper
Hey guys have been following you for year's awesome to see you in Tassie, I live in St Helens if you are keen to catch up and rife the trails here id be happy to show ya.
So beautiful there! I'm supremely jealous. Alberta is great, but the lush vegetation and wildlife is amazing there! Ok, except for the ants, spiders, and snakes. I would be terrified going through that tunnel that a big nasty spider would jump on me!
Ooof keen to know what you guys thought of stromlo 😉. Also maydena, georgetown and Zeehan would be siiick videos. Glad to see you guys spotting the Aussie critters though, echidna are amazing
OMG this is awesome. I recently went to Tassie myself to get away from the mainland and did a week of mountain biking. We did everything you did. I ended up crashing on the bay of fires trail and getting whiplash, but still sent derby the next day. Awesome to see you loving Australia
When you come back through Victoria there is a nice park called black hill in Ballarat with some double black flow or tech tracks it is about an hour west of Melbourne. Seams like something you two would love to ride! Let me know if your going to go because I would love to com over and meet you! Great video once again.
Gotta say... havent watched one of your vids in a while and the production has made LEAPS ahead. (not that they were ever bad, lol) Keep up the great videos guys! 💙from Toronto!!!
Awesome video! Super big fan of your channel and I have been watching for almost 4 years now! Really cool to see you guys riding around Australia and I would love to meet you guys there someday!
My wife and I from Squamish were bike touring Oz and NZ and got to Derby in November hoping to rent a bike for a day and ride the trails Regrettably the weather was awful and we headed on to St Helens, one of my worst days on a bike. Did get some great riding in NZ Redwoods however. Great video.
You guys are living the dream of many mtb riders! I live in Australia and haven't ridden tassie trails yet. What an awesome video. Hope you continue to enjoy Aussie land. Ps. Yuka rocks 🤙
Good on ya mate! I’m afraid I will have to vicariously ride those trails through you and your beautiful wife. I don’t think I will take the journey although sure would want to! Thanks for another great video and awesome progression stepping up to that step down!
hi bcpov, i am a mtb rider who lives in victoria, i have heard from a couple of mates that you are in bright in vic. you should come check out silvan mtb park in melbourne. i’d be happy to show you around and give you a tour of the trails. it’s a must do in victoria with trails similar to what is in canada. i’d love for you guys to come down and check out this awesome spot
Thank you Eric. I haven't even watched yet and am laughing my ass off at the oioioioioi joke 😂 Any day I get to watch you two before I go out has 50% more chance to be a great day! ❤️ 🔥😜🍕😀🦅

lots of trails to explore out there
Right? I'm lucky to get out on some local trails about 30 minutes away!!
You’re a great story teller man! Inspired to travel.

This is a great video guys. So stoked to see you hit that step down on AirYa Garn and enjoy Derby as much as I did. I can’t wait to see where ya end up next.
Thanks Jaron 🙂 i think we’re staying on tassie a little longer 🙂

If your still in Australia. There is a town called Bright and it’s got some nice bike tracks, we go twice a year.
Che posto fantastico!!!

I’d totally recommend you head over to NZ for trails when the weather clears up, or ride Mt Buller I’m Victoria. Sick video.
Great video as usual. Glad to see you enjoying all that the state has to offer.
Interesting titbit- that snake you identified as a Tiger snake may well have been a Copperhead. The only way to definitively identify the species is by the scales on the head, which are slightly different between the species. I never intend to get that close to differentiate them and am totally happy in merely knowing that it's a snake and it's poisonous 😬. Due to a lack of natural predators on the island, these snakes are also not as skittish and will often not move away when they hear humans like other snakes do.
