    Bit of a different video for me on this one. Thought I would try doing a voice-over on a full timed run down the Top Chief trail in Fort William.
    My goal for the day was to simply improve upon my previous personal record of 8:56, but then I saw that Danny Hart's time wasn't unrealistically out of reach and that naturally became my new target.
    How did I get on? You'll need to watch the video to find out!

    Just to clarify, I don’t for a second think that I am faster or better than Danny Hart. Danny is at the top of his game, and one of the best riders in the world!
    I’m just trying to improve on my own performance using Danny’s time as a reference.
    Plus, I failed 😜

    My experience of Top Chief: I was on my second (ever) run of it, very last gondola of the day up, no one behind me - I got a flat tire just after the boardwalk and couldn't break the bead for the life of me (thankfully a member of staff did eventually come down and help out - legend), two minutes later I face planted. With my confidence shot I slowly and cautiously made my way down the rest of the trail.
    Can't wait to go back.

    Oooph! Looked pretty fast to me - a real pity about the hold ups. I always think being clipped in gives you more power and speed 🚲 ... and fitness is a no brainer! Well done Andrew - looking forward to your next attempt 🤙

      Andrew - off topic I know, but can I ask - you are wearing your Switchblade open face in almost all your VLOGs now. You used to ride a Tectal. Why do you prefer the Giro - is it still slightly heavier in open face guise? S

      @dookie3453 3 роки тому

      @@stevia13 I think he puts the chin piece on so he can put the camera on it and get that smooth video. It’s probably heavier in open face than a normal helmet because you still have the sides that cover your ears

    • @McTrailRider
      @McTrailRider  3 роки тому

      ASAP Rocky is right, I still film from the chin. When I talk to the camera, I’m holding the chin piece in my hand.
      If I could wear the Tectal all the time, I absolutely would. The Giro is fantastic as well, although a bit heavier.

    I use Strava too but it can ruin an otherwise fun ride😁 Like you, I use it as a measure of my current fitness and skill level depending on whether it’s a tech or XC type trail. Plus, I love to geek out on the data after my rides🙂. Nice job!

      I’d agree that this track is harder than the Dh track at any given speed. Ben Cathro thinks so too.
      The Dh track does get much tougher at higher speeds though, and then there’s the optional huge jumps at the end.
