Kevin Franke’s attorney says divorce paperwork will soon be served to disgraced UA-cam “momfluencer” Ruby Franke as she sits behind bars in Utah. The creator of the once-popular “8 Passengers” channel is facing six felony charges of child abuse. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber catches up with Randy Kester, Kevin Franke’s attorney, to find out what led to this point and where the family goes from here.

@neurotoxicity heartbreaking. Wonder if it every dawned on these idiots that perhaps all the intense, strict parenting just wasn't producing perfect children and to go the opposite route and try loving them. I have kids. It was heartbreaking to watch some of the videos.

In my opinion, he is trying to keep from being charged with a crime, but he is also trying to keep Ruby from using all their assets for her defense. Self-serving, 100%. He has never really cared about his children, as proved on 8 years of UA-cam video.

Actually, I think it's the opposite. I think he's still in cahoots with Ruby and they're getting all the assets out of her name because of possible fines and court costs, and they feel a lawsuit coming for the millions they made exploiting their children, and like the Duggars they don't want the kids to have any. Like when Prince Andrew was getting sued, all his assets and titles were reverted back to the crown so they couldn't be touched if he's found guilty.

It is very evident from their 8 passengers videos that he went along with EVERYTHING Ruby decided, and all sorts of cruel punishments were not off the table with him either. He willfully neglected his minor children for over a year with an absolutely bs excuse that he's offering now. If alarm bells doesn't ring when a therapist tells you to LEAVE your family and have no contact, and you BELIEVE her and do as she says, there is something wrong with you or you just do NOT care! He NEGLECTED his younger children in my book and blaming it on Jodi is pathetic. He's an ADULT man ffs!

She’s the literally ONLY person directly involved with this case I’ve seen so far who focuses on what truly matters: the kids, their safety, and protection for them.

Yes, I agree with you. I mean look at all the people in cults. Mature, educated people. Indoctrination happens slowly and methodically. The cult leaders don't need to be following a pre-determined plan. They are already experts at manipulation because they've been doing it all their lives. And sometimes I've heard deprogrammed members say that during a period of lesser contact, certain facts or ideas were entertained and it seemed to them that it felt like a light bulb just went off in their heads and they were astonished that they could have ever believed what they did. It's not always like that. I think it's more common to come out of it slowly.

According to Utah law, Kevin spent more than twice the amount of time away from his kids than what Utah considers child abandonment. Why does everyone skip over the fact that he hasn't been charged?

He is trying to distance himself from her so they wont come after him. They were together when she was treating them terribly and he never stopped her. He just wants to get the kids back without her and the conquesences of the stuff going on in the home.
He was out of the home for the past YEAR, genius--and he was KEPT FROM the kids, which is incredibly easy for women to do under our grossly mother-favoring family courts.
That is what many aren't getting. Yes he is guilty prior to Jodi being involved 100% but he was made to separate from his wife for the health of Ruby and Kevin's relationship for his kids. He lost his job at BYU because his students constantly complained about his treatment of them. His reviews were simply awful. He wants total control of the money. He is the sole owner of their home. He wanted his eldest daughter charged with breaking and entering his house. The police told him that they broke into the house, so he wanted her charged with theft. All she had done was go in to collect clothing and items belonging to his other kids. He's a monster and a coward.
Don't forget he refused to answer phone calls from his kids while the torture was going on. No 💩 given. He wasn't "kept" from the kids by any court. He just f'd on off when he was told to by ruby and frankly didn't care at all about the kids.

As a parent there is absolutely no possible way that he didn’t know there was something very wrong at best, and who knows what skeletons are in his closet. I went through a divorce and I knew exactly what was going on with both of my young children at the time and the state of their well being. So she told him they had to be separated and he couldn’t see the children and he said ok? Yeah sure. There’s definitely more to the story.

Today Ruby pleaded guilty, and I know Jodi will do the same. There will be no trial. The church probably knew everything that was going on. They are the cause many families are destroyed. That’s a good question. I would sued the church. The basis is the guy who had Jodi’s license suspended for 18 months. The church knew at the time and continued to refer her to others. They are duty as well.

My cynical thought is that he's talked to ruby and they planned together for him to file for divorce to gain custody of the kids so that when she's released she'll have them all back together waiting for her 🤢
That's my thought too. They would rather "show" divorce to keep custody and control of the kids through Kevin than for him to "look" supportive of Ruby (which he is 100% was throughout the abusive years). They will do anything to keep control of the kids and the influences in their lives.

After watching Kevin’s interview, these children need to be protected from his father as well. His reactions and lack of questions regarding the condition of his children are bizarre! Protect these children!
Yeah, this is 100% a legal ploy on his part. The guy is on tape participating in cruel and manipulative parenting for years, whether or not it had yet escalated to duct tape. Clearly, starvation was already on the table when he was on record endorsing it. Also, this attorney has made multiple statements in the past about how Kevin was trying to reconcile with Ruby and save his marriage. To say now that he has wanted a divorce all along is at odds with those prior statements to say the least. He’s trying to massage this into something new.
It’s the only way to protect assets. He could have divorced at ANYTIME.

Such totally bizarre people. I cannot imagine raising children and them not being your main focus. Your life should be centered around the family as a whole. Ruby seems to be a construct of modernity as presented in Women's magazines, from dress, posture and environment. I get that vibe immediately when I see her in the online presentations. When a person role plays they have no clue who they truly are. They are empty vessels filled with modern imagery. She is finding out now who she truly is.

Why doesn't Kevin have custody of the minor kids? Didn't Ruby call him right before the arrest to pick them up? When the cops went looking for the rest of the minor kids, they were cleaning the house of some unrelated people who didn't want to let the cops see them. This is not normal custody procedure!
Actually, Ruby called up the woman, whose house was being cleaned by the two daughters, to pick them up. She didn't call Kevin to do so. When the police went looking for the girls, they were already in state custody, not Kevin's. They needed to be found so that a social worker could secure them. BTW, the woman (I think her name is Pam), is the CEO of ConneXions, the organization that Jodi and Ruby worked for.
Good question - but unrelated people were the President of Connections, & her husband, the leaders of the CULT that were using the tortured kids as slave labor!
