Also it was the first time for me hearing someone describing it as sour. I never thought of it as sour 😅 The chocolate part is not a cookie, nor is it meant to be. It's sweet chocolate bread. "Milchschnitte" literally means milk spread across a bread slice. Milch is milk and Schnitte refers to a slice of bread with something spread on top.
Thank you for explaining that. I think at first the cream tasted like a yogurt to me and that is why it tastes tart. I tried it again yesterday and I liked it better the second time. Thanks for watching!

Take a Brötchen and put a Super Dickmann's in it and smash it. Voila a marshmallow sandwich. As kids we went to the bakery and bought it there. You don't have to peel off the sticker on the Knopper's side. Just rip a Knoppers from the block off, it will separate.
In Germany we call the Candys next to the cashiers "Quengelware" which basically means whining items. Because Kids will whine about wanting these Candys while waiting at checkout.
The „Dickmanns“ are also available as a miniature version which comes with 3 different chocolates (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate). Perfect for a kids party 😉🥳 Hanuta and Knoppers also have some kind of chocolate bars nowadays, where the wafers are inside and chocolate outside. Easier to eat 😅 (if it’s not to warm outside). Seeing you reacting to all that candies reminded me of my childhood in the 90s. We had a specialty we liked to have a childs birthday party and I am sure your little fella would love to do it. It is the so called "Klatschbrötchen" (=slapped bun). You take a regular breakfast bun, just the simplest, cheap ones, cut it open, and hand it to the kids, together with a dickmanns. And now the fun beginns. They place the dickmann on top of the lower half of the bun, carefully place to top half on top and then... SLAP-HAMMER it with full force with the flat hand. Now it's ready to eat, tastes like a marshmallow sandwich with a bit of chocolate, BUT it is so much fun, to be allowed to smash your food as hard as you like, comparing the results.
i think you should try to not have expectations about the snacks, because many of these you didn‘t like cause it wasn‘t what you expected, maybe you‘ll have a better experience:)
You mean eat them with your eyes shut? Hm, maybe that would work. It's the same with sparkling water. When Americans try it we expect it to have a flavor or a sweetness simply because it's carbonated. So it takes us a while to get over that: )

"fun" fact - in germany, superdickmanns (and every other brand that makes them) are also known as "n-word kisses" and some people still use this term, mostly the older generation. BUT, it's not meant as an insult or anything, that's just what some people call this kind of candy. We also know them as "schaumküsse" which translates to "foam kisses", most people call them that and i think is far better lol
GERMAN CANDIES: In fact this term is just relative because half of the brands are licensed products from all over Europe. And some of " THE GENMAN CANDY COMPANIES " nowadays are owned by American Companies like Nabisco ( Mondelèz International )
In the 90s, the Kinder Eggs were also like that with small parts. But many children swallowed these little things. And that's why the company tried to change something about it so that it's no longer so dangerous. There were even seasonal characters. For example, a Hippo series of collectible figures I was a big fan of. but it was hard to get a figure that you didn't already have. My favorite among your candies is Knoppers and Kinder Bueno, I also love Duplo. and if you try German candy for the first time you can't go wrong with "kinder"!

In the German language the first letter is almost every time spoken, too. So, "Knoppers" is not like in the English "knee", but more like "K-Noppers". There's the problem with the German "sch", too. It's spoken like the English "sh" only to have the "c" added inside. The English pronunciation like "sk" isn't common in German, only few dialects have it. And that's only the very tip of the German language traps. For example, if you have an "e" behind a "A, E, I, O, U" it's for speaking this Letter longer, almost like in English the "ea" in "sea" it's "See" in German (sea is Meer - look another "e" added here, too 😉 See is Lake in German - mostly, but to confuse you, there is the Nordsee - North sea and this is a real Sea...)😂
Actually elongated pronounciation is usually done using double letters or an "h" with "ie" being the exeption there. Not to mention the specificly putting an "e" behind "A O U" has a completely different effect as that is the alternativ spelling of the Umlaute so Ae = Ä, Oe = Ö and Ue = Ü.

Thanks for the advice. You are right sometimes it is best to start with an open mind! Thanks for watching!
You mean eat them with your eyes shut? Hm, maybe that would work. It's the same with sparkling water. When Americans try it we expect it to have a flavor or a sweetness simply because it's carbonated. So it takes us a while to get over that: )
I mean just try something without expectations. You are right about sparkling water. The first time I did not like it because everything sparkling I had before had been sweet. Now I love the sparkling water.
@@trailblazinpeppers if you want you can contact me next time before you try German Snacks and I can briefly explain to you what it is. I‘m born and raised in Germany and maybe I can also tell you some facts about the snacks (for example the correct, german way to open a bar of ritter sport chocolate:D) feel free to reach out to me:)
The filling in the chocolate Dickmanns is marshmallow fluff.
Yes that is what it tastes like. Thanks for watching!
Wow, seems like you rated along sugar percentage. The more sugar, the better? Btw, Ritter-Sport has the best Chocolate quality out of the ones you had, Milka has too much sugar.
You are right. Ritter also has so many varieties which is great. Thanks for watching!
Milka is terrible. I have been living here for almost 25 years and it has gotten worse and worse. It’s the German Hersheys. 😂
@@calise8783 When I was a child (during the 60ies, I am a Granny, lol) Milka was really good. And you nailed it...... since that time it is getting worse and worse and...... well..... worse! Nowadays I never purchase any Milka at all, it did drop all the quality and taste it had back then!

you should get milka in trader joes I believe, maybe not everywhere. but since trader joes is owned by aldi.
I will ask my family and see what candy they have in common in the US Aldi. Thanks for watching!

Oh wow. I haven't tried those. I will look for them next time. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hershey...some said it tastes or smells like Vomit. Cause you do not use Milk but desgusting Milk Powder in these And you do not use Kakaobeans but the Kakaobutter. 2 different kinds of Produktion types.
Thanks for watching!
Wow, thanks for the info, I’ll be sure to check it out. Thank you for your input😊
How could you all these at once?
We definitely felt bad after. It was a sacrifice we were willing to make. Haha. Thanks for watching!
More ideas: Ahoi Brause, Yogurette, Storck Riesen, Choco Crossies, Kinder Schokolade, Kinder Countrey, Balisto, Schokobons, Nimm 2 Bonbons, MAOAM (or Mamba), Trolli Gummis, Salzstangen, Chipsletten
Thanks for the recommendations! Definitely more we need to try!
Thank you, will do
@@trailblazinpeppers You should know there are multiple ways of eating Ahoi Brause.
1. The intended way from the producer, by mixing it with water and drink it. (Creates a sweet drink like a Lemonade)
2. Eat it pure with your finger, lollipop or other sweets like gummy-worm, by dipping it in the powder. For more fun, take your head in the back and eat the hole package at once. (can give you funny faces, because pure it is way more sour and the Brause is popping in your Mouth)
3. The Adult way, by taking a hole package like before, but take a shot of Vodka right after and mixing them together in your mouth, kids can do that with water.

Watching the video, I thought to myself: every engineer of packaging gets a heart attack, because you sometimes opened the stuff not the way it was intended 😂
Haha. Several people have mentioned that. Some of the packaging is very ingenious. The way to open the Ritter sport is very unique. Thanks for watching!
I had read that online. I wondered if anyone referred to them that way. Thanks for the insight!
In Austria they're called Schwedenbomben, swedish bombs.
GERMAN CANDIES: In fact this term is just relative because half of the brands are licensed products from all over Europe. And some of " THE GENMAN CANDY COMPANIES " nowadays are owned by American Companies like Nabisco ( Mondelèz International )
I agree. Thanks for watching!
Our son LOVES the toys he kids in the Kinder eggs. Luckily we had never tried to swallow any parts. Duplo and Kinder Bueno were my (Maria) favorites!
@@trailblazinpeppers 🤗 i can imagine your baby boy love the surprise egg .did u tried the happy hippo ones from kinder? with a milk nougat cream filling . same like bueno one or kinder bons milk cream filling . idk man i just love stuff from kinder but we have also stuff for aduls there really good . from ferrero my favorit is raffaelo i cant stop to eat it xD
the north of europe likes liquorice. the more you go to the south the less people like it :D
That is interesting. I wonder why that is like that?
@@trailblazinpeppers I have honestly no Idea. But I am the best example. I am from the north and like liquorice. No one here in the south likes it :D
It would have been nice if you looked it up on the internet b4 you tried it. That way you would have had a better idea what you're tasting. The "ice cream sandwich" is a healthy snack for kids, low in fat and sugars with a whole grain buscuit on bith sides. The filling is whipped cream, lightly sweetened and not a sugary marshmallow. All the candy has a pull-tab for an easy opening. Most of the chocolate bars are in a resealable packaging.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching! The milch schnitte tasted better the second time. It even tasted good frozen.
@@trailblazinpeppers wow you did freeze the Milch Schnitte? Haha okay, I understood that the pic reminded you on a certain ice cream bar. I never had the idea of freezing one. I will try that next time, I promise. Sounds interesting.

ofcourse we have more haselnut, haselnuts grow here, peanuts don't. Pretty easy ^^
Yes that is a great explanation! Where in Europe are most hazelnuts grown?
@@trailblazinpeppers uhh.. not too sure about that, would guess italy or spain

I bet my behind that you could not get ANY peanutbutter in Germany 25 years ago. Well, OK, maybe you could, but it was very very rare.
Ok that makes sense. Since peanuts are grown in Europe it isn't made here. Thanks for watching!
Milka is not softer, it has just 8 grams more sugar than the Ritter Sport. So the better quality is sold by Ritter Sport. And yes, since Milka belongs to Mondelez, it became that sweet 🤮
Thanks for watching. I am looking forward to trying more Ritter and other chocolate.

Drink vitamalz. We say "Kinderbier" 😂😂😂
Thanks for the suggestion! I will look for it.
Not to mention the specificly putting an "e" behind "A O U" has a completely different effect as that is the alternativ spelling of the Umlaute so
Ae = Ä, Oe = Ö and Ue = Ü.
Yes, pretty funny in the video: "It's written k n, so you probably pronounce it noppers" :)
