Did you have difficulty getting an individual registration slot for the military contingent?
The key is to register as soon as the registration opens. It will open February 1st at 1600CET. I also didn't get the spot at first but I was on the wait-list then someone must have forfeited their spot. After you complete it once then you will be given priority the next year.
Pah, fleeing the German winter to the Canary Islands is unfair.
Great video! I loved watching it. I had a good laugh when at 22:38, a Dutch soldier walks past and says "kijk, goede zaak!" to the guy carrying beers (it translates to "hey, that's a great idea!" or something). 😂 That's peak Dutch culture for you. Greetings from a born and raised Nijmegenaar!
nice vid but too short in the meadow
I wish we could have stayed longer too!
I really enjoyed watching your coverage of this wonderful event. I have finished it 33 times now and will be back this year. You had a good balance between information and experiences. Well done and congratulations for making it through.
Mett is not about the TASTE....its about to get filled for Breakfast
of course it's also about the taste, it's delicious.
its fresh made:....high Quality! and its VERY safe!
fun fact: if you're getting it at a bakery, it's technically not a real Mettbrötchen but a Mettwurstbrötchen -- even if people will probably say Mettbrötchen when they order. Mettwurst is not fresh, it is cured (= more salt, less juiciness) and can be kept for weeks in a sealed packaging. real daily-fresh Mett can only be bought straight at the butchery.
Milchschnitte you must eat it directly out of a Refrigerator with +4 --> +7 °C and than it's the best candy in the world! :)
Thanks for the tip!
Bloody cheating driving an automatic, most people drive manual cars in the UK, not the bright to pass your test in automatic here in the Uk, insurance is more expensive,(potentially less skilled) and you can only drive automatics, pass in a manual you can drive both
*eats fish* "Its not to fishy"
😂😂
Sir hindi me boliye
हमें भी आपके देश में घूमना हैं
Thank you for your great coverage of the event. You provided a lot of information on installations and how it goes. You answered many of my questions. Have a great day.
UK drivers in general give way and courtesy to other road user😊
Yes we didn’t have any rude encounters while visiting.
Hahaha. Watching this video because I'm about to go to Malta and drive on the left side. This video did not end how I was expecting! LOL. Not giving me the boost of confidence I was looking for.
We’ve been to Malta 3 times and have never driven there. 😂🙃
I used to drive in mainland Europe very often when travelling for work in my own UK rhd UK car and in local lhd rental cars It gets easy fairly quickly, you just have to concentrate a bit more
Good job it wasn't a manual gearbox as well 😂

Fort Williams. No. Fort William. The Nevis. No. Ben Nevis. Glad you're not driving. You're a liability to others. I've driven in America. Piece of pisss.
I suppose you have to be American to have problems. We seem to be able to switch routinely as we travel between countries and continental Europeans seem untroubled driving here. This is what you get by maintaing an insular national style.
Thanks for watching!
I guess I would be just as nervous driving in Europe or the USA. Farmers like me do have the advantage of having experience of driving from the centre line of large vehicles with controls to our right, so spacial awareness is not an issue. By the way, Scottish roads are considered to be by far the best in the UK, far wider, straighter and less busy than most of the rest.
ur wife is annoying af dude how could you live with her?
There are dozens of Americans eating Dutch food and they ALL eat the same: Fries, kroket, poffertjes, stroopwafel… Can you please eat something else: boerenkool, zuurkool, witlof, spruitjes etc. There is so much MORE!!!
If we ever find ourself in The Netherlands again we will have to give these a try. 😊
On the Tuesday we, as contingent, are forbidden to be back to camp before 13:30. So the last kilometres see Swiss groups having a drink waiting to be allowed in. A very good stop for that is the Bowlero. Exactly at 29:55 in this clip
Walked it 8 times with the Swiss contingent. After a foot rebuild I stopped walking it and did 9 times as a support element with my group, the guy on the bike. Sadly the contingent has an age limit and last time I was allowed to participate was 2024.
Hello, weird question. Are we not allowed to leave the car seats in?
Come on … it’s really not that hard swapping over. We do it quite often here in Europe if you pop over the water into the continent. It’s easy enough. 👍
👍🏻😊
being born in thuringia i can with certainty say with zero bias obviously that thüringer gehacktes is the best form of raw pork i lived in berlin for 5 years and SON the hackepeter there was vile, genuinely disgusting, it tasted like someone outside of germany heard "raw pork" and made it taste like how you would expect it to taste and every time i am outside of thuringia the mett people serve is just kinda inoffensively boring meanwhile gehacktes is the most delectable simple treat i could think of
Fully agree. I usually only eat it when i visit Thuringia and only get it from a Butcher Shop. Whats your stand on the Onions? I cant believe some people think it needs that much onions, that you cant see the Meat anymore. WHats the point then when you cant see or taste the meat anymore. I prefer thin freshly cut Onion Slices or Spring Onions and extra fresh grinded Pepper.
If you go to the castle, be sure to tell them that Major von Happen sent you. Go ahead, make my day!
Why would you need a tow truck just to change a tyre?
Unfortunately the rental did not has a spare. 🙃

I love Mett! Ive loved in the UK for 20 years now and Mett is the one thing I miss so much! I don't trust british butchers or meat 😅
😂😂😂
Its no big deal, just take your time and relax. I'm an Englishman who has driven in the States since 1972 for my job and also for vacations up to 2012. Theres less multi lanes in the Uk, less traffic. My last vacation, i drove out of Phoenix and back thru Sun City, that was a bloody nightmare. Just get used to it, simple.
👍🏻
OMG what a fuss. I’ve driven in the UK, US and all over Europe, it’s not a big issue.
👍🏻
Funny how there are so many videos of Americans experiencing life outside the US, it’s like you guys just arrived from Mars. It’s sad how many of you don’t explore life outside your own country, or even your own state.
It does feel like a different world. We have been living in Germany for 3 years and finally getting the hang of it
Driving on the left is, I admit, unusual. But what I find when I drive on the right in other countries is that the logic of the road - the signposting and arrangement of roundabouts - tends to guide me. Like you I prefer an automatic when I drive abroad but drive stick-shift at home. I drove in California a good number of years ago and the advice I got from locals was, "Whoever arrives at the junction first has right of way. If it's a beat-up car full of Mexicans they got there first"
Why are you fearful of roundabouts you said you drove in Germany and they have roundabouts in Germany don't they what's more scary is if you're used to go in one way around a roundabout your entire driving life and then all of the sudden you have to go the other way around
We were unsure about the roundabouts on the other side of the road. We have definitely gotten used to them since living in Germany.
I drove for 30 + years on the left living in Britain I rented a car in Sweden and it was terrifying driving on the wrong side of the road the right hand side sitting on the wrong side of the car so I understand but I spent 4 years driving my right hand drive British car in Germany on the right hand side of the road that's even more confusing😂
It's not an Interstate it's a motorway
👍🏻
Marched it 1981 Co B, 1/6 Inf 1st AD Illeshiem Germany. Feet don't fail me know!
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Hey there, looks fantastic! Was it summer when u went? Is it okay to go there in April?
We went in May! It was perfect weather.
Your sat nav is totally illegal in the middle of your window put it to the drivers side low down
Yes know that now. 😂 We will make sure to do it right next time.
Id find America and the rest of the world nuts😂😂😂😂
😂
I used to have a traditional mini which did 0 to 60 in 6 seconds and 80 miles an hour in second gear😂😂😂😂
That’s so cool!
Try driving on the left hand side of the road with the steering wheel on the left side I've done that😂😂😂😂😂
That sounds so terrible. 😂
Since 1296 december markets in Vienna. So much tradition 🎄
