- In this video we try popular German snacks. We give our opinions and rate them from 0-10. Some of the snacks include Leibniz, Hanuta, Spezi, Bifi, Erdnuss Lockets, Pom-Bar, Jumpys, Chipsfrisch, and Prinzenrolle.

Paprika is the German word for both the bell pepper and the spice paprika. Confusingly, they often put a picture of a bell pepper on things that are actually paprika flavoured.

The spice is made of dried bell peppers which are almost not hot (rosenscharf) or not hot (edelsüß), so the picture of a bell pepper is correct.
Peanuts mostly not sweet in Australia . I didn't like the peanut butter cups in the States
I prefer my peanuts with salt.

Actually we where comparing to actual Peanut Butter. In U.S, sugar is added to Peanut Butter. I Do love actual Peanuts as well right out of the shell. Thanks so much for the comments.

Well there I try something else, for a change and who I find here? 😂 Happy Easter Arno, hope the winter did not come back down at Bodensee. Exactly today we have very Irish weather here. So it is "snuggle time" with the cats. I have one, but the neighbours cat "joined us" I think his owner are somewhere else and today is really a day, no one should be outside , if not necessary. My favorite is still the Erdnusslocken. Since the late 70s, when I had them at my Oma‘s. They go well together with Milka Schokolade and a glas of milk ☺️

Moin!... from north Germany, Spezi is a typical Softdrink invented in Germany 50th. Its a Mix of cola and orange. The Name / Brand Spezi was founded by the Riegele Beer brewery in south Germany.
Paulaner brewery has a Lizenz for this name Spezi.
In Germany gives over 50 brands of Spezi/ Cola Mix.
Many regionale breweries in south Germany produced this .
Its cult 👍👍
My Favorit is Leikeim Cola Mix from the Leikeim brewery.
And Frucade Cola Mix 👍

Thanks for the comment. The cola mix is totally new to us. Also colaweizen is not something we have in the US or at least I have never seen in.
I was somewhat indifferent about the taste. Had not tasted anything quite like it
As a kid if you got a cold you'd be advised to eat a chicken soup and drink tea (usually herbal or fruit tea) and dip those vanilla cookies in it. The cookies are buttery and are easy to digest bc if you got a cold you don't have a lot of appetite and these are good
Similarly in The US we have chicken noodle soup when sick and tea. Research has actually shown that something in the chicken soup actually helps the recovery process. Thanks for watching!
Oh, had no idea Bifi is still around, as a kid I used to chew on that plastic wrapper, cause lots of the flavour actually stayed in there ; )

I think americans are more used to sweeter stuff. when I was in america I immediately tried twinkies and poptards and even vegetable juice. and it all just tasted like artificial sugar . ^^

Chipsfrisch ungarisch, definitely! Us Germans love chips the Hungarian style (which is meant by ungarisch. Paprikachips or pepper as you call it - that's the way chips have to taste 😀) Btw I also love Pringles sour cream and onion 👍
Yea definitely liked the paprika chips! Very similar to our barbecue chips. If you ever get the chance, there is a Canadian flavor of chips called All Dressed and they are excellent in my opinion. It is a mix of barbecue and salt and vinegar.

The brand Pombär is a combination of the words Pom (Pomme/Kartoffel/Potatoe) and Bär (baer) from the shape of the chips. The two dots over the letter "a" change the pronunciation of it. It's spoken like the "ae" in the word "baer" in english or "ea"rth.

I used to devour the Bifi Carazza as a teenager for whatever reason. There is just something about that sweet sweet artificial pizza sauce, the semi-solid cheese powder and the brick of a salami slice wrapped up in a ridiculously bad bread roll (by German standards) that just kept drawing me back for more. I honestly don't know a single person who ever ate that thing but me. Perhaps understandably so, It's kinda embarrassing being caught buying one of them.
Haha. It is funny how we all have our unique things that we like! The company still makes them so some people must eat them.

Fanta and Coke is Mezzo Mix and Pepsi Cola and Mirinda is Schwip Schwap in Germany. I'm really surprised that there isn't in the States.
Bifi, is not so good, better is a Hungarian Salami or Edelsalami.
I was 47y old when I understood that the German name „Bi-fi“ derived from the English „beefy“….duh! 😮
you really see the pallet difference. leibnez or prinzenrolle i would consider them as quite sweet yet you say they aren't. makes you kinda afraid how absurdly sweet stuff in amerika is

It's funny that you immediately had the idea to use the Leibniz Butterkekse for smores because that's actually what we do. In fact I never had smores with anything different. 😅
And you can smash them until they're almost finde powder, mix them with some melted butter and you have a perfect base layer for a cheese cake.

One of my favorite road trip snacks here in the US are puffy Cheetos. So, a friend and I were in Germany, took a road trip from Munich to Salzburg. We stopped at a convenience store on the way to pick up some snacks. I picked up what I thought would be a Cheetos equivalent. Did NOT like the taste of what turned out to be the peanut butter puffs. I like a lot of German snacks. Peanut butter puffs is not one of them. 😂

I once had a Tiramisu made with Leibniz cookies instead of the Löffelbiscuits. It worked very well.

I personally prefer something that isnt too sweet and not too addictive :P so I just grab the prinzen rolle sometimes. the chips and the peanut chips are too addictive imo. hanuta is solid tho, loved it since childhood.

@@trailblazinpeppers I Just saw your reply. Ppl in Germany would usually try to bite one half off without removing the chocolate - (so a top biscuit layer?) And then eat the other half with the chocolate on top. It doesn't always work but it's like a sport and everyone is in on it :D

The Chipsfrisch Ungarisch Chips are THE STANDERT flavor of all Chips From Funny Frisch like in this Vid. or From Pringels... all have the "Ungarisch" flavor witch is Paprika flavor or we have a Salty flavor its Standart too. We have a lot of flavors but you cant buy them everywhere it depens where you live you can buy only a few flavors (i had a school trip and we went to a supermarket and i bought a Chips flavor that i have nerver seen and tasted befor because in my local supermarket that flaver didnt existed) and the Leibniz Kekse taste better in my opinion with a glass of milk or you smear (
