      Hi Sunday Sunshine! I hear ya! I feel the same way. I'd love to see a grouping of different shapes and heights of mosaic bottles, maybe all in the same color or design theme. I think that would be really fun! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🌟

    I can't wait to try this! I did mosaic a glass vase - one of my first mosaic projects. I made lots of mistakes: using E6000 as an adhesive for ceramic pieces - which I later learned is very toxic; and using a marker as a guide for the design I wanted. And then failing to remove the marks before grouting. So, the marks are visible on the inside of the vase! Lol! Will never do that again!

      Hi Michelle! Great to hear you enjoyed the video.😊 We save the environment and gain a vase. Win-win! And they're addicting to make. So many material, color, and design options. Try the Lexel and see how you like working with it. As I mentioned in the video, I use it in smaller quantities instead of directly from the tube and it keeps me sane, and less stringy. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

      @@JulieWeilbacher I was thinking some other substrate. Such as wedi board or even wood. I'm unsure of how to go about the actual designing process such as how to make the pieces fit, how to split up larger sections, etc. I figure it's really up to the designer but I could use some guidance. Thanks, Julie.

    Could you use apoxie sculpt to build up the area over the ridges and smooth it out some? I'm not sure how it works in a wet environment... and whether it would stick to the glass.

    • @JulieWeilbacher
      @JulieWeilbacher  2 роки тому

      Hi Erica! Oh yeah, I hear you on the empty Starbucks bottles.😂 Just think of all the vases you can make. Everyone's getting a vase for the holidays! You get a vase! And you get a vase! Yes, you can definitely use Apoxie Sculpt to cover the ridges around the neck. Just let it fully cure before you start tiling. How are your other mosaic projects coming along? @@JulieWeilbacher I'll be the Oprah of mosaics this Christmas! Good to know Apoxie will work (I just bought my first batch of it). Other projects are all coming along! Grouted my first few creations (finally) and am designing two other big ones. Still trying out all sorts of tesserae to see what I like, experimenting with tinting and painting thinset, making some jewelry, and figuring out how best to rig up LED lighting as part of some mosaic art pieces (well, hopefully they'll be art when I'm done lol). So many projects, so little focus and organization! But I'm having a wonderful time playing and experimenting... it's only frustrating because friends and family want to see what I've done... but I've just got experiments with several different tiles and other material stuck in thinset with different texturing applied. I tell them it's just modern art and they wouldn't get it. 🤣 Thanks for your wonderful videos, Julie... always look forward to seeing them!!

    I tried to sand down the glass rim with a sanding stone and with my electric grinder, and it didn't seem doable (unless I had a spare week with nothing else to do!) So I left the rim. I don't understand how you got a smooth line from above and below the rim. Seems like a very think layer of Lexel will be needed to fill in the curves, especially below where it narrows below the rim. Is that what you did? Or was there space under the tiles where it hung over the edge? Thanks!

    • @JulieWeilbacher
      @JulieWeilbacher  Рік тому

      Hi Ava! The grinding bit on my glass grinder is rather coarse. You can certainly put a layer of Lexel on the rim to 'build up' and then tile over it. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌
