Hello, Julie. I just started the creating mosaic art journey and love it. Your ideas and tutorials are fantastic. Thank you. I would like to make one suggestion. Instead of using words like substrate and tesserae, simplify it with words that don't need to be looked up in a dictionary, such as surface of the glass, surface of the stone, whatever you are working with. Instead of tesserae something like pieces of glass or pieces of ceramic, etc. Something that would be even easier is at the beginning of your videos explain what substrate and tesserae are. I know I am not the first person who had to look up what those words mean. Just a thought. I appreciate your sharing your knowledge with the rest of the world. I will continue to watch your videos. The ideas are awesome.
Very cool! I’ve been intimidated by stained glass (and getting extra tools) but I love the glass on glass look. I think I’ll try this technique on a square votive (curves are also intimidating).
Hi there! I agree, there’s nothing like glass-on-glass mosaic. A squared-off substrate is a great place to start. Keep creating and I’m thankful you’re here!🎃
Thank you, Julie! That was just what I needed. I did make one donut-shaped birdfeeder but used small ceramic tiles on the glass donut. Now, I'm ready to try glass on glass!
Hi Lynn! Oh how exciting! I know you were wanting to make a donut bird feeder.😍 And you used ceramic tile?!? I bet it's beautiful. Lucky birds! You're going to LOVE glass on glass mosaic. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Audrey! Awww, thanks so much! It's great to hear you like how it turned out. There are great adhesive options for glass on glass....it's just a matter of finding the one that works well with your substrate and tesserae. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🎃
Hi Debbie! Aww, thanks so much! It's great to hear you enjoyed the video and are going to make one.🎃 Glass on glass is addicting! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Debra! First off, thank you for the well wishes.😊 We survived hurricane Ian. Our weather in Miami yesterday (Tuesday) was worse than today. Weird. I'm so excited you got a glass substrate. Will this be your first glass on glass mosaic? You're going to LOVE it! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Penny! Awww, it's great to hear you like how the votive turned out. Thanks for checking in after the storm.😊 Miami experienced some feeder bands but that's the extent. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🎃
Wishing you the best to be careful & safe. Keep a close eye on the gulf. We know all too well what ya’ll are getting ready to deal with. We are in Louisiana.
Hi Lori! You're so sweet....thanks for the well wishes! We survived hurricane Ian! Honestly, our weather in Miami was worse yesterday (Tuesday) than today. You stay safe too for the rest of this hurricane season. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Donna! It's great to hear you enjoyed it! We could all use a smiling little mosaic jack-o-lantern sitting on our table or shelf.🎃 Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🌟
Wonderful video's for we who love to learn new things DIY!! Question about glue. I have a new tube of E6000, would that work? Also, I notice your Lexel is the waterproofing version, would the paintable work? Thank you so much!
Hi Dixie Bell! Awww, thanks for your kind words!😊 Any brand of silicone will work. I just prefer to use the clear Lexel. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🎃
Hi Jackie! Awww, thanks so much!🎃 Yes, you can use Weldbond, although it's a little tricky on a curved glass surface. Spread it on, let it sit a few minutes to dry a little, and then 'shimmey' your tessera on the Weldbond to create a bit of suction. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Nitsa! Thanks so much! It's great to hear you like how the mosaic turned out. Yes, I also teach mosaic art. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Really helpful, I have made such a horrible unsightly mess using silicone and now I see why. Thank you!!!!
