I was absolutely shattered on Saturday when I heard the news. Kenny Rogers has always had a special place in my heart and has never left my playlist, even before there was such a thing as playlists lol. Aside from being one of the greatest singers and storytellers there has ever been, he was the first artist I asked my parents to take me to see in concert when I was five years old, way back in the 80s. It was such a special experience for me, aside from an amazing performance. I walked up to the stage to give him a rose I brought, but when I got up there, he was so big up there on that stage that I got scared and dropped the rose. He came to the edge of the stage and knelt down to talk to me, and he had such a sweet and calming presence about him, that it put me at ease and I finally got to hand him the rose. That memory has stayed with me all my life, and it set the bar pretty high for every concert I have attended in the decades since. Nothing has ever beat it though. Such a sweet, kind and gentle man, and he will be missed deeply.
Hey billy you have to do kenny rogers ft. Dolly Parton "Islands in the stream" one of the greatest duets of all time. Their voices sounded so good together. R.I.P Kenny And again man great videos, I always look for the notifications throughout the day. Also I hope you stay safe with all this stuff going on.
Another great one from Kenny's era is Ronnie Milsap. "Stranger in My House" was one of the most badass, ahead-of-its-time country songs ever. "Smoky Mountain Rain" was another classic.
The official video for this really makes the story - he's dressed in a historical costume. Kenny Rogers was actually a really good actor and there's a movie called The Gambler. Sorry if this was already said.
Kenny rogers is an absolute legend. The one line that moves me the most is when he says" the best you can hope for is to die in your sleep" and the fact he did just that really helps me believe there is a God. That is no coincidence!!

I have loved this song for my whole life. I just realized something though. The Gambler died on the train. He drifted off to sleep and sometime that nite he died (broke even). over 40 years listening to it and I never noticed it.

Hi Billy! I'm a new subscriber from Australia! You are a VERY smart young man! You picked up straight away that this is a metaphor! I Ve been listening to some of the other reactors and they didn't get it! This was my favourite Kenny Rogers song when I was in my twenties! Thank you SO much for reacting to this! I really appreciate it! Greetings from Australia!

My Favorite line that applies to all our lives. ~ "Every Gambler knows, that the secret to surviving, is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep." Meaning ~ Knowing what to discard from our lives as worthless or even detrimental to our lives and knowing what to keep in our lives as what is truly important and meaningful to our lives. Too many people don't know when to cut their losses, and cut loose the people and things that are holding you back.

It is definitely about life lessons from someone who has been there, and in the end,the gambler got exactly what he had hoped for.He shared his life's lessons to a troubled young man, crushed out his last cigarette and faded off to sleep. And somewhere in the darkness, the gambler he broke even, but in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.AKA,He died in his sleep.
Always cool to see when someone "gets it" on the first listen. I first heard it as a little kid, and it was years before I had enough life experience for my "wait a minute... he's not really talking about poker is he?" light bulb moment. Great song.
I've always loved the phrase "Every hands a winner and every hands a loser". Because its not WHAT was "dealt" to us in life that makes our lives go one way or the other, its what we CHOOSE to do with it. Do we Rise to the challenge, occasion or trial? Or do we let fear, doubt or depression overcome our faith that we are never given more, each day, than we have the ability to overcome? Hope springs forth Eternally.
And somewhere in the darkness The gambler he broke even But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep RIP Kenny This music will never die as long as the next generations like yourself continue to discover and enjoy it.
