Kia Ora. Despite the strong accent, the instructions are just perfect. The best and clearest set of instructions ever. None of the usual waffle from other presenters. I would not mind being your apprentice. I think I will die a frustrated Carpenter. Just born too early to get benefits of UA-cam videos. Still, will continue learning and trying any woodworking projects need doing. Thank you
These videos are great. I been working in construction all my life but not Carpentry, so seeing the finer details of how to build things on these is great.I'm an old dog (65) learning new tricks. Built a Deck, Pergola with a Roof and 3 Gates and 4 Raised Gardens so far from watching these videos. Thanks M10.
Enjoying the Southern hemisphere narration , the Mark Webber of DIY! P.s top quality work and instructions. Now I gotta get on the old dog and bone and tell all my garden gates about this!!!
Superb video, very clear precise instructions, how toos and why we dos, matched with skill and precision workmanship and as if thats not enough very well filmed too. Bravo that man
Awesome video. Looking at this I decided I better pay someone to do it for me. Its not as easy as I thought would be. Plus need more tools. Craftmanship is not learned overnight. My biggest respect for all our builders!
Thank you for respecting the art of Carpentry, Woodworking, and Craftsmanship. A top notch video for sure. It's really nice to see things built the correct way. I look forward to checking out all the videos on your channel. I wish I would have found this much sooner. Good day!
I'm an Electrician, we are the higher paid tradies here in Australia..I think that Chippies like this bloke should be getting paid more than us. Carpentary is more of an Art and in my opinion, I believe it also requires more skill than the electrical scope. GUN WORK Buddy!
Love your videos. Very easy to follow and understand. The best one on UA-cam. After hiring a few contractors over the last couple of years to install my extra long driveway gate, I've decided to do it myself. Your video really is helpful. Thank you
if the contractors u hired are worse than this guy and ur gunna take his advice.....I need to move to your area so I can make a killing.....what a friggen joke this guy is ....SERIOUSLY
First time I've come across your work Mr Mitre. You are a top bloke for sure, I have really enjoyed watching you work, with all the care and pride of a true craftsman. I look forward to following you on this channel. Many thanks,
His name is Stanley, from Mitre 10. He does all the ads and is the face of marketing etc and obviously is named after Stanley tools .. .. but, as it turns out, Stanley actually is his real name.
That was a really excellent explanation and demonstration. You covered all the points as far as i could tell. I have made a pair of driveway gates and i could not find any advice on how to fix the brace until i saw your video. Thank you.
Very professionally done. My hat off to you sir. Luckily I have a radial saw so all I have to do is lower the blade to make the knotches. Other than that well done. Oh and I like the glue you were using, but personally I just use carpenters glue. Seems to work just fine and no need to buy another glue. The sealant brushed on keeps the wood from ageing and keeps costs down.
G'day from Australia, been watching a few videos and am really enjoying them. Mate your " mother inlaw" comment got you another subscriber 😂. Keep up the good work.
Nice projects. So are you on the North end of New Zealand? I noticed the Palm Trees in the background. We have Palm Trees here in the lower end of the San Joaquin Valley in Porterville California. We commonly get temperatures in the 105 F. Just last week it got there and it is in late May.
Thanks mate! Yep we're in the northern side of our North Island :) Our temperatures don't often get quite that high! We'll usually get to around 75 - 80 F or 24-30 C in our summer months 😃 ^James
i built a front wooden fence and had the picket capitals rising in height from one side of a section then down to other side . makes it a bit fancier . bet you got one out of the chilly bin after that .
Lovely work. I wonder if people have the time and interest to build to this quality? If you are paying someone to do it then it is going to be very expensive.
Stan, lovely video, learned a lot. I made one gate using your method and really slugged it out with the rebate on the center rail. Is there any reason why I can't set one screw in each joint temporarily, square the gate, sketch out where the brace will fall on the center rail, then disassemble the pieces and use the miter saw to make the rebate in the center rail. I could then glue and reassemble the pieces, screw them on, then mark on the brace where the rebate is on the center rail. Then I can rebate the brace on the miter and cut the marked ends of the brace, glue and screw.
I'm in the US. Am I the only one who thinks that we are crazy for not being on the metric system? 922 mm - 16 mm is SOO much easier than. (36 19/64) - (11/16). WTF....
On the other hand 3"x2" is easier to say than 75mm x 50mm. We tend to switch between imperial and metric in the UK as our parents all use imperial and we were taught to use metric at school.
The square drive screw is amazing. Phillips screws cam out too easy and torx screws don’t sit on the bit well enough for awkward work. Square drive FTW! I’m used to using both measurement systems because of the military. Like the base 10 of metric for easy math; however, prefer SAE for things like fuel and fuel mileage. Because It’s easier to figure out range based on MPG than Liters per 100k. 🤷🏻♂️ they both work

I got it built, but had to return the screws I had which were too long. It looks okay, of course not like this because I'm not a carpenter; it serves its purpose. Lol

The production and in depth for the time this video came out is almost television quality, thanks for this video.
We're glad you loved the quality, thanks for watching1 ^Cam
Thank you for the excellent craftsmanship. This is real carpentry, not a handyman hack job!
Great job from New Zealand, America applauds you!

Interested to hear about the hinge which has five segments. What is the reason for the two and three split and why does it only go one way on?
10/10 Someone who knows what they are doing mainly brace in the right position.
Great craftsmanship!

Most finishing joiners in the uk couldn't match that precision and its a garden gate!
I'm in the US. Am I the only one who thinks that we are crazy for not being on the metric system? 922 mm - 16 mm is SOO much easier than. (36 19/64) - (11/16). WTF....

The one thing I thought throughout the whole video. What is wrong with us??
On the other hand 3"x2" is easier to say than 75mm x 50mm. We tend to switch between imperial and metric in the UK as our parents all use imperial and we were taught to use metric at school.

Amazing
excellent 100%
Keep the mother in law out with a straight face... priceless
Too neat.
Using your video as I type to rebuild my driveway gate. My son, neither myself know what we're doing, but this video is great. What size screws did you use to attach the panel boards?
to.
Diletha Kemp probably 25-32mm
I got it built, but had to return the screws I had which were too long. It looks okay, of course not like this because I'm not a carpenter; it serves its purpose. Lol
