The all-new Kia Seltos is a small utility vehicle, smaller than Sportage and bigger than SOUL. This new Kia Seltos SUV competes with the Korean cousin Hyundai Kona but this new Seltos model is slightly bigger. The all-new Seltos comes with two engines and two transmissions. The base Kia Seltos is a 2.0L 4-cylinder with 146hp and a CVT. The top trim gets a 1.6l turbo 4-cylinder with 175hp and a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. All Seltos model come with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but forward collision warning with autonomous braking is not standard on all trims. The new Kia Seltos is a small utility that has room for 5-passengers over two rows of seats and competes with the Nissan Qashqai, the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda HR-V and Hyundai Kona.

Andrea's willingness to be empathetic concerning the hard plastic and advocate the rationale in a measured fashion (keeps the pricetag low for consumers) was admirable. Her Husband and the rest of us should take note!
Thank you!
sorry but the front is what makes SELTOS AWESOME! I do not agree with both of you saying there is nothing special about the outside of a Seltos! I love my seltos !! it is a very sexy car!
Just bought one. And the smaller engine pairs amazing with the CVT. Never thought I'd like a CVT but it works so well adjusting the power band of the smaller engine. CVTs have improved so much, and it does get very good fuel economy. Loving this SUV.
Zack said it right - "Absolutely right size". With back seats folded down, we were able to load a 2-seater storage ottoman, 2-seater leather sofa plus a host of other bags and boxes in between the available crevices. Averaging 6Li/100kms vs our 2008 Odyssey delivering 12Li/100kms. Wife did the math on gas spend.... and was totally impressed! Great job Kia!
Watching you from the US gives great comparisons to the market here. Great info well done. Love my Canadian neighbors !!!
This kia Seltos is a great car, I've gotten 1 month ago. No regrets at all. Awesome videos thank you!
Great to hear!
Does it have any transmission overheating issues?
@@ashxmm So far so good!
Great review as always. And love this Kia seltos. Took a test drive of the EX premium trim which is second from the top and that thing is loaded with a ton of features. Kia is killing it.
Thank you! AND yes, Kia is putting out some pretty amazing products.
Great to see a lady and a man doing the reviews together, we get both opinions. The show is 10x better now. You two are doing great together. Would love to see both of you in all future reviews. Seltos my family of 4 are looking at it, also the Mitsubishi outlander. Thanks for the great reviews.
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words, we are so happy to hear you are enjoying our videos together.
Zack, I must say you’ve been my favourite auto reviewer for many years and since you’ve included your wife in your reviews, you have a certain “glow”, twinkle in your eye that’s great to see and makes your reviews even better!
Wow, thanks!
Awesome, thank you so much!
0:15 Always protecting his woman's honor, what a team
lol, for sure!
You guys rock. Great review.
Thank you so much Moe! Appreciate the support as always.
Kia is becoming the standard bearer for a 21st century automotive brand; laser focused on consumer tastes, value for the dollar and quality. I've had my Niro Hybrid for just over a year with zero problems. Clearly no one's idea of a sexy ride, unless you consider fuel efficient, hassle free transporation sexy. Maybe we'll get an El Camino as a 2nd car to mix it up.
And they have issues too..Recalls..Odors in the Palisade and Fires in cars. No auto brand is perfect and we shouldnt treat them as such
I love your reviews. You make a nice couple too. Thanks. Gracias.
Thank you so much, we appreciate the support! :)
I also started watching Kim’s Convenience on Netflix based on your recommendation. It’s great. Oh I love Canada.
We love Kim’s Convenience! It’s on Netflix. As for the car it works for younger drivers and others who don’t want to spend a ton. This is also AWD at the lower trims as well.
Such a fabulous show!
Great review!
Thank you so much, happy you liked it.
Great review guys!😉
Thank you so much!
I trust Zack and it's always a special treat when his wife Andrea is along with him. I always look for their reviews on-line first when I want information about a vehicle. They are the best.
Thanks for watching!
I love Kim’s Convenience! I live in NYC and watch it on Netflix. Great review as always. I love my Kia Telluride and looking forward to seeing the new Sorrento when it’s out.
Love NYC! Glad you liked the review, we get the Telluride soon to review. What a great product!
Just bought the SX trim out here in Ontario and lovin’ it. Great review guys!
Fantastic, enjoy!
After paying off my 2015 Subaru WRX, I decided I wanted to get something nice for my mother. This is what I got her. She is 76 and climbing up out of a vehicle doesn't work. We first looked at the forte, which she didn't like climbing out of and I pointed at a Seltos and asked what about that? She loved it and I now own one...hehe
What about the engines explosions?
Solid review on the Seltos. However, I appreciate you introducing me to Kim’s Convenience, that’s a funny show.
I am seeing a lot of these on the roads in northern Ontario these days. Kia really is making good vehicles with lots of content for a good price. I have a 2015 Sportage (smaller than the current model), and I think it might compare in size to the Seltos. However, another car with the almost the same interior space that we bought is the Kia Niro Hybrid SX Touring hatchback, which is a loaded car that feels more premium with nearly every safety feature, and very fuel efficient without even trying. My daughter bought her first car, a used forte.
Your channel is better with the extra comedic content. Keep it up.
Hey Zack, I think you guys are in the Ex trim and not in the Ex Premium as mentioned in the video. Could you please confirm? Planning on getting this for my wife. It’ll be her first car, would you recommend it?
Really nice looking car
Great review, cool design. Kia will sell a lot of them. Love when both do the review
Terrific, so glad you are enjoying our reviews together. Just trying to have some fun and make them a bit different. :)
well done, I sat in one at the Candian auto show, very roomy!! very funny and entertaining !!
So glad to hear you enjoyed it!
So cute couple, good presentation with good language and a maginificant Seltos. I think i will buy it in 2 or 3 months later. Good thanks from Morocco, excatly from Agadir. Take care 🤗
Thank you so much, we are thrilled you liked the review. :)
I wonder which option is the best package with ACC in Canada, the Qashqai jumps up to $35k for those kind of options
I have a problem with the front as well. KIA tried to tie it all together with the grille but still not quite cohesive.
I have the S model and I love it!!! Although I do wish I had the sun roof
Is this comfortable for longer distances? How is road noise?
Thank you for this video, this car is practical and has a reasonable size and price for me
Our pleasure!
Please review the K5, looks to be an awesome car
We purchased the s trim seltos. We love it.
Wonderful, congrats on the new purchase.
Great review guys. Thanks. I suspect this will do well for them based on the price point. I think it offers a perfect package for such little money. Especially when looking at its competition. However, I think that the style is less than memorable. The only real thing that really pulled this SUV apart from the others was ... you guys. The outfits (blue) really complemented the colour. Smart idea. Distract you audience with some pretty lady and some colour... so they don’t see that unibrow. It worked. Thanks for another entertaining video, together.
So glad you liked it, thank you so much! :)
What do you guys think about the Seltos compared to the Sportage?
Is this kia relaible as the honda hrv and mazda cx3
Kia entered the Indian market with Seltos and they are literally killing the segment with tons of features. Not so sure about long term reliability, but then they have recently launched a sub compact crossover by the name Sonet based on Hyundai Venue and they are not stopping on launching models anytime soon.
The close up shots of the front end gave me hard Aztek vibes.
Would love to know about noise and smoothness…..for ears and back.
'Right-sized' is exactly why I ended up with one of these. I'm in the U.S., so not sure how trim lines differ, but I purchased the 'S' trim FWD model because I don't need AWD. Traded my Soul (the car, that is) because the Seltos had more useable cargo space. Have had it since the end of February, and love it so far. Sometimes the sun does glare off of some of the hard plastic, but that's the only fault I've found with it. And at 34-36 mpg, it's saving me gas money over the Soul too.
I’m not really seeing the Unibrow, but I don’t like the front styling a bit. The side and rear are ok.
Nice review as always and great to have Andrea as cohost!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. :)
I'm a petite woman... and I think this is the right size for me. Or is the Kona better? I'm test driving both this week. The Seltos 2021 and the Kona 2022.
Today’s topic is eyebrows and of course let’s not forget the main segment of the review - you are looking amazing in every reviews.
I feel like I am forgetting something.
lol! Thank you sooooo much! :)
back in India i got the GT model in diesel. Dope car
does it have an SD card slot? I have 3600 songs on one....screw the apple car play
Wait a minute...where'd the sexual innuendo/double entendres go?! I've grown to appreciate the dips into the gutter. Car reviews with a hint of the risqué are what put this channel on a different level. Lol
Oh they'll be back! lol!
i am looking to buy a new car and kia Selttos is one of my option but i have seen there is a recall for kia Seltos 2021 on engine. so is it still agood vehicle to buy as it didn't have any other recalls in the past.
Dual clutch FTW! And a turbo to boot.
The unibrow comment got me, now I can't unsee it 😳
Great review. The drivers were honking over excitement for the Seltos :-) Pity it's not available in UK/Europe. It's quite a looker.
you have so many more cars to chose from in Europe who cares about Seltos
Could be.......glad you liked the review too, thanks for the support!
Except for the Buick “look” rear end, it looks like a solid entry.
The Kona is more the Soul equivalent, isn't it? Wonder if there will be more of a Hyundai "Seltos".
If I remember correctly, Mr. Kim drives a Kia Sedona. It helps out when picking up merchandise from the wholesaler :P
Hi Zack and Andrea I wonder when we should expect new version of Kia Seltos 2023 is coming to Canada.??? Around the world it is coming pretty soon but not hearing from Canadian Kia dealers. Everyone says OH we don't know. This 2022 is nice but if new version is coming in 4-5 months then waiting for new is well worth it. Beside even 2022 is no available in any showroom and book now and delivery date is given November or December 2022.
I'm getting the Kia Seltos Ex Preimum is white this week!
@The critic nope! Still in love with it. No issues at all 🙂
The front grille looks like three different CUV designs combined.
Oh so you mean it looks like a car and not an elephant
I laughed out loud at the unibrow reference, but I also get what Andrea said about us gals and our eyebrows!
Absolutely!!!
I add Turtle Wax Trim Restorer to the unpainted plastic interior parts every few months, to darken, shine and protect it. It lasts a shorter time for exterior unpainted plastic trim, so some spend more for a longer lasting ceramic coating instead. I am wondering if the unibrow (like Anthony Davis at the NBA) is less noticable with some paint colors.
Great review! These are selling like hot cakes in the province of Quebec.
And the engine is exploding like hot cakes as well.
But with high interest rate being offered by Kia in financing Seltos brings the bi-weekly payment amount closer to Hyundai Tucson 0% rate amount. So which one would I recommend between Seltos n Tucson if payment has marginal difference ?
The kona
In a quick and passing glance, she looks like Sarah Jessica Parker.
No.
yes sort of but older
Don’t insult Andrea like that!
I thought you meant the car lol
I hear the headlights are poor on everything but the top model, i wonder if thats true
You guys have a good formula going!
Thank you so much, glad to hear you are enjoying them.. Just trying to have some fun with car reviews.
@@andreaspencer9813 well I have always been a fan of Zacks work, but change is always good... It keeps things fresh!!
@@gabrieledimatteo4888 It sure does! And I agree with you Zack's work is excellent, so much knowledge.
Love your channel, folks. Just one suggestion from one of your southern neighbors in Washington state. When you cite MSRP's in Canadian dollars it would be helpful for parochial US residents unfamiliar with conversion rates between our two countries and the often different trim configurations offered in Canada and the US to note (perhaps as a caption), the US MSRP for a vehicle. Much like the conversion in fuel efficiency you often cite. For example, a fully loaded top trim (SX-Turbo) Seltos with an optional $700 sunroof has an MSRP in the US of $29,710 (USD) including destination charges vs $34,740 in Canada. Simple conversion of US vs Canadian currency isn't necessarily accurate of course. And unlike Canada there is no consumer protection in the US that limits transaction prices to MSRP. But it would useful to get at least a rough idea of the price of a vehicle in the US as well as Canada.
I realize that the bulk of your viewers are Canadian but many of us US'ers subscribe as well. And we look forward to a time when our utterly irresponsible response to COVID-19 will lead Canada to allow us to come visit you again.
Good suggestion, thank you! We did talk a ton about price in this one.
@@andreaspencer9813 I realize it's not as simple as it sounds, Andrea. Using currency conversion can be highly inaccurate at any particular point in time. Using today's conversion rates, for example, would mean that $34,470 (CD) MSRP cited in my comment would be only $25,748 (USD). Far lower than the actual US MSRP of $29,710.
Furthermore, as I understand it, Canadian consumers are protected from price gouging by prohibiting dealers from charging more than MSRP. No such laws in the US so transaction price differences may well be different from MSRP comparisons.
Finally, it's often difficult to compare US and Canadian trim levels. Even when the labels are the same the features may differ in important ways.
Even with those points in mind, though, it would be interesting to hear pricing in both Canadian and US dollars. :)
@@stephenhendricks103 yes you are right, it does get tricky when it comes to price and features when comparing the US & Canada.
Seems like you just did the conversion and research. At the end of the day, you have to be responsible for educating yourself about your purchase in the country where you live. I enjoy this channel but I’m not going to rely on them solely when choosing the trim etc.
Kia has done well with the design and the size of the Seltos, but I might hold off until the 2nd production or generation year and until the Korean manufacture sort out the fluid leak/fire issue ....
I visited the convinence store in Toronto and talked to the original owner actually haha
Lmao @0:20
By far the funniest look you've done
Love Kim's Convenience. I visited the store in person.
Where is that located?
@@btkfrank In downtown Toronto
So fun!
Just like the Kona, it's worth upgrading to AWD because only those models come with IRS! Makes a big difference in driving!
Isn't this like 10 inches longer then the kona?
Very interesting SUV. Sat in a SX turbo at $34K, seats are hard! They do not fit my small body. Will check a Mazda CX5 GS, about same price...
Interesting how the front end at the bottom looks different to the version we get here in Australia. No idea why they would change it, as IMO the Australian version looks better as the bottom of the bumper sticks out more.
I read the front end on the North American version was made slightly differently so that under US EPA rules it could be classified as a light truck for fuel consumption regulations.
It looks like a Range Rover, I like it
There is a few options I wish they would add. Otherwise great looking.
Been seeing these recently on the road and its uniqueness definitely makes it stand out - the usual brands had really better get on the ball because Kia/Hyundai/Genesis is coming full-speed for serious market share.
Not a CVT fan and will make me pass on any vehicle so equipped. The Toyota new CVT with Start gear is going in the right direction but would still rather have a manual which would last pretty much forever.
I’ll look forward to driving this at an airport rental lot when/if this pandemic ends. Garbage Truck Drivers are idiots, soon to be replaced by autonomous trucks. They block traffic and bully other drivers not to mention being bad for the environment by going against zero waist initiatives. Overall this is a good car. Your reviews are great as usual.
Could you review the 2025 Kia Niro? Ha. I think the Niro ('22 or '23) is a unique car. Thanx.
I own an 2cd gen 2004 RAV4 manual Awd.
The hard plastic is noisy as well, sound reflects off it more then a soft surface.
And probably more likely to have rattles.
Every car in this segment has plastic interiors except the Cx-30
f181234 Jeep products like compass and renegade have soft touch dash. Something like a fiat 500x does too. Those I know do for sure. I am sure there are others.
Still waiting for a good-looking, properly-equipped, true subcompact/compact class crossover to be released in the U.S./Canada.
Toyota corolla cross should launch soon ...or not .
I never understand why people complain about the outside of a car. You're going to be inside driving it. Does it matter what it looks like? Unless it's God ugly like the Pontiac Aztek, the outside of a car really isn't an issue for me. I'm more concerned about the interior.
Whoa!! Is honking really that much of an out of the blue or surprising stuff there? Mayne!! I’m used to people honking on the street in my country, so much so that I can’t even hear if somebody is honking behind me. Though, I get it they need a pass and I give them a pass when not in the mood for some need for speed.
Now if it was lower longer with sliding side doors it would be perfect.
The cvt will be better off road as it won't overheat like the dct
Very roomy but the seats are too wide for me, bought a CX5 100th Anniversary!
Going to lease a USA 🇺🇸 spec S AWD, seems to check all the boxes & I’ve only seen 1 or 2 on the road here. Kinda like a poor man’s Range Rover Evoque...
How does this compare with Honda HRV?
CR-V is bigger
This is on the creta platform not the Kona.
My KIA Seltos rear Aircon vent blowing warm air when Aircon temperature control is set at 25 degree celsius, when outside temperature is much higher than 25 degree celsius, and their service work shop claimed that is normal.
During the visit on 26 Apr 2021, inspection was carried out on the vehicle’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System; the values such as Ambient Temperature Sensor, Evaporator Temperature Sensor, photo sensor, In-car air temperature sensor and other related values that maintain the operation of the climatic air-conditioning system. We did not find any abnormalities in the values and all sensors and actuators are functioning normally and a diagnostic scan with the manufacturer’s diagnostic scanner did not report any diagnostic trouble codes. These data was also inspected and compared to 2 other similar vehicles and the performance was found to be similar and thus the vehicle’s air-conditioning system was judged to be operating normally.
That's radiculous and sily.
Break out the Armour All to maintain your plastic fantastic.

I know!!
Thank you so much!!!
Why are people honking unnecessarily? I thought Canada was a more civilised country 🤨
You thought wrong.
@@frederickmoller 😄🤣
Are you going to review the Kia or talk TV for an hour?
They can do whatever the fuck they want billy. If they want to talk dildos for an hour so be it
I completely dissagree about plastic (so long as it looks good). Plastic is SO MUCH easier to wipe down and keep clean, versus if you spill something on fabic in your vehicle? Good luck, it's a huge pain to clean up and is likely an ugly stain forever. Scratches on leather are worse than scratches on plastic. Otherwise another great video.
In reality this car is like a big hatch
Like your videos, BUT. Why on earth are you driving around with your headlights and fog lights on?? The car comes equipped with DRL's let it be. And fog lights, only to be used in foggy weather and turned off when approaching an oncoming vehicle. Dana, NB.
