I have bought the Kia Seltos SX a month ago and I love it so far. It rides well, it's spacious and the safety features are on point. My co-workers love my new vehicle and some of them are thinking to buy one as well. I will recommend it to anyone.

We have recently purchased this exact combo SX in April. We purchased for my brother who is an aspiring architect. HE LOVES IT. It is a head turner! We found it to be the best versatile well rounded vehicle for him. I recommend it.

@@monicawilson896 Yes we still have it. Actually we have it in Idaho right now and besides changing out the tires for snow tires no problems at all. We love it and I’m sure your mother will be satisfied.
Seltos design seems to be the best in its class. Very eye catching.
I’ve had my KIA Sportage for 12 years with zero issues. I am about ready for a new vehicle...and pretty sure it will be the Seltos!

Sat in this car at the dealership, originally interested in the shortage but this baby caught my eye. I'm the same height as the guy in the video and the shortage has a lower ceiling but this one is perfect. I know I'm concerned about not having a HUGE car because of gas and parking etc myself and also having one car seat I'm concerned about the passenger being comfortable so I'm sold on this one!
In 2010, I purchased a Kia Sorento built in West Point, GA. At close to 100k miles now, this Sorento has been very economical to own. Today, my son drives it 60 miles one way, to and from college.
Had the 2L for 6 months and love it. My wife wanted a small car but this feels really spacious. Cheaper to own, run and service than the turbo plus it’s quieter.
Jack’s Mate, are you and you’re wife still loving the vehicle? Any problems or recalls? I want to recommend the non turbo version to my mom but I really would like to get owner feedback before I recommend it to her. we drove the 2tlr CVT but ordered the 1.6 turbo with 7 speed DCT - there have just been too many problems with CVT transmissions and i for one dont trust that Kia's will be any different - time will tell in the long run though. Nissan CVT failures have put the wind up people worldwide.. We have a Cerato GT which has 7 speed DCT and it has had no problems at all..and I actually like the 7 speed ....but it has paddle shifters , the Seltos doesn't; but its no biggy. The 2023 model seltos does have paddle shifters I see.
Good report and thoughts on the Seltos. I think it looks great and seems practical for what you're mentioning. Wish they produced some of those concept trail / urban models from the LA Car show.

I bought this car for the misses. And I love it the first time I saw it and looked at all the safety features it has for the price and the specs. Its was a no brainer. Im driving it more then her. I would deff recommend this car.

Sounds like a winner in the category!! It's definitely upscale looking and I think its more in line with Volvo XC40 in terms of design. I'd definitely get it in the SX trim if I was in the subcompact market!👍🏾👍🏾

Bought my SX Turbo in the cool yellow color, I love it. It turns off when I stop in traffic & politely reminds me when the car stopped ahead of me pulls away. Especially love the adaptive cruise control, it's like semi-autonomous driving, boggles my mind. It's loaded with technology! The voice command phone & navigation is a dream. There's plenty of space for luggage, groceries, pets even kids! And I love that it's AWD with 7.5 inches of ground clearance.
But what about blind spot assist?

I am really liking the Seltos from everything I've seen . . . much of the small SUV segment is too small, too hard for me to get in and out of, while this one should be tall enough for entry for my damaged torso. When I start looking seriously this may be my first drive; Much better gas mileage than my Venza, enough cargo space and has the AWD, more able to work the gravel and dirt roads when I'm off the grid . . . yeah, this one is getting my attention.
- Note: Good video . . . but Dude, we've had a wet spring in the Spok this year, rain was to be expected.

I got the soul gt turbo, but if you need awd this looks like a taller awd soul. Should work as long as you don’t have rear facing kid seats. How does this compare with the Niro awd?
I think you guys should get a Kia Sorento. Its one of the smallest 3 row SUV and it has plenty of room inside. You can now get fantastic deals because the new 2021 model is just around the corner and the whole covid 19 too.
Wife has a Sorento and loves it. Maybe a year or two we will upgrade to a telluride, palisade, or possibly the new 3 row jeep is supposed to be out. Only issue with kia is how spread out the dealerships are. It might help with sales but it makes the service department overwhelmed. Honestly where i am it is 2 weeks out for a oil change and tire rotation

It’s time to trade in my 2007 Nissan Xterra. 153,000 miles. Looking for a similar replacement; space, feel, etc. Seltos has caught my eye. In your opinion, would this be a good / similar replacement?
I’ve owned mine now for about 3 months I’ve taken it across the country, I’ve taken it up into the mountains and I went up some pretty steep terrain fully loaded and siding over heat! It even has the smart cruise and it’s amazing for driving across the country. It also will give you a warning to take a break if you are swerving a lot. Which is very awesome!

@@monicawilson896 i love it and would recommend it! i have literally been through ever imaginable terrain.. people say it over heats but if you throw it into sport mode ive never had an issue again.

I got mine three months ago and love it. The Canadian model Seltos SX Turbo comes with front heated and ventilated seats, HUD and a sunroof all standard, though we don't have the option for two-tone paint up here. We also get power front driver and passenger seats and heated rear seats which I don't think are offered in the U.S. model.

@@monicawilson896 Yes, it's great! Very good on fuel, which is important especially in these times. The SX Turbo has everything, including the better engine and transmission. The only issue I ever had was my own fault. Having a dual clutch transmission, you can't drive it in stop and go traffic the same way as a conventional automatic transmission or a CVT (which the base and EX come with). The transmission can overheat with too much stopping and starting, especially uphill, which I did. Now that I know how to drive it properly, I haven't had any other issues. The infotainment system is amazing, and it has lots of comfort and convenience features. Overall, I would recommend it.

I’d say no to the Pilot, the interior on the ex trim was underwhelming when I got into one that my friend lease a year or 2 ago. The Seltos is one to consider, but I think of you all go bigger go Telluride, Palisade or even Highlander.
There's also the new Sorento and Santa Fe coming out later this year.
HI Dave. I bought a Telluride EX after watching your review. Best investment ever! I strongly suggest you to push for a Telluride as it has a usable third row compared to a Toyota highlander or such dwarf SUV's
I have the hyundai version, kona limited. Get the turbo!
Before i hate kia, i dont even want to look at them. But now they are nailing it. This is the best across its segment. This has real transmission and not a crappy cvt. It has good mpg as well. Nice infotainment. And a choice of awd. Which you can use it on snow mud or slippery road. I will definely want this one.

What about the Hyundai Santa Fe we had 2007 Limited and loved it. Great value nice looking and you can't beat the warranty. I agree with you on the Palisade or the Tulluride but 8f she is looking for around 30k Sante Fe may fit the bill. I also agree with you more room your kids are still young so cargo room is huge. Good luck with your search.

I would recommend the VW Atlas Cross sport for your growing family. As well as being larger than this Seltos and maybe safer if there is a car accident. Thinking about your smaller children. Gas mileage certainly wouldn’t be great but… I’m late to the party tho because I think I saw a video describing that maybe she settled on a Palisade Calligraphy! Congrats!

I really like the Seltos look and features but for a couple grand more I think the 2021 Buick Envision might be a good choice too. Have you had a chance to review that car yet?
Like the placement of the translucent plastic containers such as the brake fluid actually being next to the master cylinder wall. A windshield washer next to window and coolant reservoir near side wall so you can actually see the markings on it! Unlike my 2012 Jeep Liberty's which you have to lean over the frontal section and worse the fill mark is on the back of the container. Good Going Chrysler guys! You've achieved your goal of "Where in hell are the coolant reservoir fill lines anyway???"

Everyone is reviewing the turbo/DCT, but realistically most ppl getting this car don’t need a DCT. How does the 2.0 with CVT and AWD drive/feel?
I like your review. Pickup Trucks really aren’t good daily drivers unless you live in a rural area. Gas prices are rising so I’d get rid of the truck sooner than later because resale value will plummet. I’d look at the next size up, the Seltos is a little on the small side.
Would they ever launch the one with the 1.6 Turbo Petrol in India?? And the dash in the global model is so much nicer..
We are looking at the CR-V, Rav-4, and the Rogue. This popped up for me a while back and it’s very intriguing. My only concern is the space in the trunk.
Sportage is Kia's entry in that class, not Seltos.

Probably too late to help you decide, but I've had an 'S' trim, FWD Seltos since the end of February, and love it. I loved my Soul, but when I saw the Seltos and its additional cargo space, I unexpectedly ended up with one. Much better for grocery shopping, and holds my golf bag and push cart without having to put seats down. My wife has a 2018 Suby Crosstrek, which rides a bit better, but I find the Seltos a little more comfy and the cargo space is a little better. In this segment, I think it is the best vehicle available. The one tank of gas I estimated MPG on gave me 36.4. Will continue to check for consistency.
I have the 2.0 awd s trim. It has plenty of power for a commuter vehicle. It's very good driving for under $24k. I've noticed that computer mpg reading is about 2 mpg higher than actual fill up but I'm still averaging about 32 mpg in mixed driving if you use smart mode.👍
@@markc5677 Yeah, I noticed the computer isn't really accurate. I drive in 'normal' mode, but may have to try 'smart' to see if it makes a difference.
@@billjordan1173 I think it makes a difference and it will go into sport mode or normal mode for more aggressive driving when you need it
@@markc5677 That looks to be the case, and from what I've read, sport mode is a little less fuel efficient, so I think driving in normal mode consistently would give you the greatest mpg.
@@billjordan1173I guess you will that to test it out for yourself on a full tank. For me it's more efficient on Smart Mode. I agree that sport mode is less efficient but in smart mode it will go into eco mode when you're not accelerating hard. This will cause the RPMs to low when cruising. The engine won't be working as hard causing better gas milage. So I think it's best of both worlds. But I guess it all depends on your driving habits.
The one challenge I have found in my Seltos SX Turbo, the road noise is loud in the cabin on rough roads especially. I did a video about this.

Mine as well. Only thing I can think of is adding extra heavy floor mats over existing, and letting 2psi out of front tires, and 2-3psi out of rears. Shame KIA missed on dampening the suspension a tad; otherwise this vehicle would be a big winner.

Dave; how about the stop - Start ? Is there a turn off button? or does i have to be turned off every time you turn the ignition on ?? Everything i have read about the Seltos says it a great vehicle ?? I haven't drove one yet ??
Probably a bit late for this reply, but you have to deactivate the stop-start each time you start the car. It's a very accessible button. However, I didn't think I would like this feature, but decided I do, as I think it helps with gas mileage (I seem to get better mileage driving around town than on the highway, though mpg is excellent overall regardless), and it works pretty smoothly, so I just leave it on.

KIA ALSO SAID THE DLC SPEED SPURT THAT HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS WILL ALSO GO AWAY AFTER THE ENGINE BREAKS IN...SO GOOD TO KNOW

Just recently bought a Canadian Seltos SX Turbo which seems to have a few extra features over the US version. Sunroof, heated steering wheel, HUD, cooled/ventilated front seats. Its a second vehicle for a retired couple and suits our needs perfectly.

Lol I knew that f150 would be to big for your wife. My mom did the same thing. She has a Camry now lol.
I think DCT transmission in Seltos (also found in other Hyundai models) is known to have overheating issues in heavy traffic or slippery off-road situation. It is due to "dry" DCT nature. Kia/Hyundai will put new WET DCT in their new car models. So if you like the car, better wait for next year or more until Seltos comes with wet DCT.
That’s what that great warranty is for
the 2023 seltos is moving to an 8 speed auto i read from Korea's Kia website ...auto, not DCT...interesting...and 2ltr with a little more power, the current 2lt one is gutless.
Trying to decide between this and a CX5 but I'm heard alot of storys about cvt failures
But kia and Hyundai come with 10 year warranty something to think about.
Didn’t she say she’d never drive a KIA...and that was the Telluride. The totally new Sorento is very nice. The redesigned Sportage will be released soon as well.
I told you guys before, to go with the Palisade. If you don't want something as big, then go with the Santa Fe. I'm personally a car person, but that don't stop me from borrowing the wife's Palisade here and there. For a big vehicle, it handles well, its quiet in the cabin, and feels like a much more expensive vehicle. My only complaints when buying the Palisade, is the lower trim level had better wheel and grille offerings over the Limited which I heard they corrected. I also hear that the Santa Fe is basically just as good in those area's as the Palisade

Dave, I think you should just get the Telluride and spend all your effort convincing her to look past the Kia name 🤣 . I mean, she already thought the Seltos was a BMW so clearly, looks isn’t an issue and the Telluride is way more practical for a family than a tiny (comparatively speaking) Seltos. Although i know you’ve also liked the new Highlander and Palisade.
Gonna get a Tesla and call it good.
Not to mention less expensive to maintain compared to X7 (Kia Telluride). Reliability seems to be better too if we are honest. If I were ready to buy it would be the grayish blue colored Telluride SX LOADED!!🤷🏾♂️

So how long would a turbo last. And when it does start giving problems, because they all wear out, how much is going to cost
I have two in my truck with over 100k miles on it and 8 years old both still work fine no issues. My buddies Subaru Baja turbo made it to 300k miles and 15+ years before the turbo went out and was about $2800 to fix.
You are not going to get fuel economy on a naturally aspirated 170+ hp engine, so take your trade. You can get decent MPG with a 4 cylinder turbo, or you can not have the turbo and get worse MPG.
The money you save in gas over 5+ years would probably pay for the turbo anyways.
With a 10 year 100000 mile power train warranty...well if something goes wrong Kia has to fix it on their dime!
My brand new KIA Seltos rear Aircon vent blowing warm air when Aircon temperature control is set at 25 degree celsius, when outside temperature is much higher than 25 degree celsius,and their service work shop claimed that is normal.
During the visit on 26 Apr 2021, inspection was carried out on the vehicle’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System; the values such as Ambient Temperature Sensor, Evaporator Temperature Sensor, photo sensor, In-car air temperature sensor and other related values that maintain the operation of the climatic air-conditioning system. We did not find any abnormalities in the values and all sensors and actuators are functioning normally and a diagnostic scan with the manufacturer’s diagnostic scanner did not report any diagnostic trouble codes. These data was also inspected and compared to 2 other similar vehicles and the performance was found to be similar and thus the vehicle’s air-conditioning system was judged to be operating normally.
That's radiculous and sily.
This may be the best new vehicle you can buy under $30k

I really like my Kia Seltos.
KiA is now rated number 2 in SUV vehicle next to Subaru which is number one period. That’s saying allot, Kia has come along way. There warranties are super at 6 year 60,000 mile warranty & 10 year drivetrain & transmission & they stand behind it. Find a American made that will offer this with a car made in Mexico. Not that Mexico is bad it’s cheap labor with a greedy price behind it.

Styling looks like a criss between the Volvo Xc40 and the Rang Rover Evogue
If you ask me, it looks more like a Volvo XC40. Matter of fact I wouldn't mind seeing the Kia Seltos compete in a head to head to with Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Volvo XC40. All three same size and similiar drivetrains, but different price tags.
Keep us posted on your decision process. I am looking at the Seltos as well.

Everyman Driver it all has to do with your subscribers accordingly . Your subscribers are more middle class and oddly enough a good amount of women for a car reviewer. If you had more “luxury vehicles “ you might change that but also risk losing your originals subscribers :/
We looked @ BMWs & because they're sportier BUT they are more expensive to warranty cuz that extra sporty characteristic means they'll break down easier. Insurance companies know what their talking about when it comes to paying for that extra sports experience.
Looking at this to replace my 2014 RAV4. I am also 5'11" ,is it comfortable for a tall driver?
Probably a bit too late with this, but I'm 6' and fit in it quite comfortably with room to spare.

Dave, you mention that your wife doesn't like driving the big truck because it's too
hard to park and navigate in tight situations. A large SUV, like the highlander, isn't
going to be all that much better for parking and navigating. Perhaps you might consider
a mid size SUV or even a well designed compact SUV which would be large enough
for your family but not too large to manage around town........
Amerigo Vespucci The RAV4, CRV, CX5 are the perfect size. The Highlander is now 195” long. 192” is the limit for most urban spots.
