Fellow Canadian here :) I would love it if you created a vegan cheese curd, nice and squeaky to the bite! Poutines have always been a favourite of mine and since going vegan I truly miss cheese curds.
Thank you so much for getting Molly her own Mic. I wasn't able to hear her in the older videos and now you both sound great!! Thank you for the great content!
I haven't tried any of the others you reviewed, but the Lightlife I think is amazing! I specifically like how salty it is, because that's how I remember bacon. It is terrible to separate into strips, but once it gets cooking I find it holds together well.
All Vegetarian Inc. has my current favorite vegan bacon. They also have my favorite vegan jerky too. They don’t sell in retail outlets as far as I know but their website has everything with discounts on bulk orders if you like it.
Forever looking for the best vegan brie. Every kind I have tried hasn’t been comparable and it’s the only item I’ve truly missed in 7 years of being vegan
The taste of the VegCheese "Fresh Mozz" reminded me more of brie than mozzarella. I only ate it cold but apparently it melts well too. Just a suggestion 🙂
Loved this…one of the things I missed when I went vegan was definitely bacon. Unfortunately being in Australia, I can’t get any of these brands, but there is an amazing product called Sunfed boar free bacon…I was blown away at how good this is. If you can get it online, it’s definitely worth trying…they also have chicken free chicken and beef free beef…lol
I’ve had the ham and salami and pepperoni. They are good , but don’t taste like the real thing. Does the bacon 🥓 taste like the real deal? #formermeateater
Fellow Canadian - Make it in the air fryer !!! It’s amazing, put a tiny bit of oil on it but I find they don’t need it. I like it super crunchy so don’t mind if it’s a bit dry but a bit of oil and I put it about 5 min at 350-400
smart bacon is my favorite vegan bacon but it's definitely more of a turkey bacon substitute than traditional pork bacon. and i swear lightlife changed their formula in the last couple of months bc it never seemed to be such a pain to separate before but it's worth the effort so 🤷🏻♀
The *only* vegan bacon I have really liked is your recipe for rice paper bacon! We love a video with Molly & every time you said “giving me” I was just hearing JVN and I’m here for it 😂
MorningStar Farms Veggie Bacon is sooo amazingly good. If you haven’t tried it, then I recommend that you do. It looks like turkey bacon yet it smells and tastes just like bacon. Whenever I go to the supermarket I buy at least 4 boxes at a time, and I get so disappointed when it’s sold out. After having Morningstar Farms veggie bacon I don’t miss pork bacon anymore because I found the perfect alternative. I’m so glad that you included the light life bacon in this video, I almost bought it yesterday now I don’t regret not getting it at all.
Unfortunately their bacon is only vegetarian not vegan as it contains eggs and milk. I think all the packaging with orange on it that says veggie is just vegetarian. I remember hearing a long time ago the brand was transitioning to all vegan but that was before the pandemic so maybe things have changed.
@@stephkuehn9978 , Once I read your comment I looked at the ingredients and noticed that it does indeed contain egg whites and milk. I’m ok with that since I am only a vegetarian but my daughter is a vegan and now I understand why she won’t eat it. Lol.
I totally want to see you guys taste test pizza, that’s my biggest weakness. And I need to know which of these vegan pizzas won’t piss me off when I eat them. Love your work so much! 💕💖💕
Put up a screen shot of the ingredients in future vids please, it soothes my inner nerd 🤓 For UK, “This Is Not Bacon” is pretty good, their sausage however is a 4/10 if I’m generous/ hungover🤷🏻
i commented this on one of your other videos, but i would love to see you compare/review some popular vegan bakeries/restaurants in toronto :) that would be cool to see
I don't know if it's still being produced, but Yves used to make a vegan Canadian bacon that I liked quite a bit. I haven't seen it here in California in a long time, so I'm curious if it's available in Canada. It was packaged as round slices similar to Yves pepperoni.
i feel the same way about the hooray bacon! it looked really promising but i was left feeling really underwhelmed. it got crispy but then soft when I put it in my breakfast sandwich. plus i wish it was more flavor forward.
British bacon actually is taken from higher so includes the loin whereas American bacon is just the belly, and Canadian bacon is just the loin. Finding an alternative to British style bacon has been the bane of my life
Kings vegetarian bacon is the best bacon. They started out in restaurants called zen gardens which has the best vegetarian and vegan Chinese food. And it is gluten free bacon just they make stuff that have gluten so there can be trace amounts which is why it doesn’t say gluten free.
I'm finding a lot of the meat alternatives have gluten in them which I can't do so I'm not inclined to try most of these. That being said, your rice paper bacon is the BOMB and my absolute go to! My omni family loves it as well and routinely asks for it for breakfast haha. To me it's the real deal and looks a lot more realistic than these ones, although the King bacon looks intriguing!
I will say, the Hooray bacon is way better if you shake/scrape off some coconut oil and use a different oil to cook it in, like avocado, to reduce the sweetness. I love it in a breakfast sandwich, but I definitely have to season it with a little of my own smoked salt and pepper on top of changing the fats if I want to eat it on its own.
For a salad topper I use Epicure's Better than Bacon, it's made with pinto beans. I would like a video on Salad Dressings like ranch... I need a good vegan ranch.
Can you try and get the King bacon in Montreal!?! Please!…almost looks like Morningstar Farms which is delicious for Vegetarians but usually includes egg white…oh and Morningstar Farms is Kelloggs I think…you girls need to create one that is amazing and will cross the Ontario/Quebec border! Xoxo
British/English bacon is soft, uncooked and fatty. We do have streaky bacon like America (for pigs in blankets) but back bacon is more popular. Raw, it’s thin and pink with the fat at one side. Cooked it’s still soft in the fleshiest part but the fat would just be crisp and brown. I haven’t had it for 4ish years but I still remember 🙄 My faves in little old England would be vivera bacon bits, for taste and texture or fried vegan quorn ham for structure, a BLT or breakfast sarnie.
Great taste test and review of vegan bacon beautiful & gorgeous Candice & Molly. Love 🥰 the video even though the brands aren't available in the UK and love 💕💞Candice & Molly.
I didn't like bacon when I ate meat. But I love a local mock bacon from my country called Sunfed boar-free bacon. My meat-craving bf loves it too. Doesn't taste like bacon but tasty as its own food and exceptionally macro-friendly.
My problem with the "smart" bacon (LOL) is the weird platic-y after taste 🤢 I wish is was better on that, since it's very easy to find in Canada. I've heard Happy Veggie World makes a great vegan bacon!
To me, the Horray foods one just tasted like bread. So NOT a bacon flavor or texture. The use for that one I think comes for example in my friend’s son who has PKU and can’t have protein at all. It gives him a bacon type product he can have.
The founder of Yves Veggie, Yves Potvin is French Canadian from Quebec, so I guess the right pronounciation would be more French, so the ''s'' is silent. I guess it sounds like the way english speakers would say Eve.
I didn't like the hooray but I may not have cooked it correctly tasted like chewy coconut even after adding liquid smoke. The light life I like crispy no soft and it taste to me more like Turkey bacon imo a non vegan liked it also they thought it was turkey too. I'll give the yves a try if I can find it.

I live in France and La Vie makes the best vegan bacon ever ! Their bacon bits are also sold in Carrefour.
What I like to do with the Yves one is bake it in the oven. It ends up getting really crispy and tastes a lot like bacon bits. Great in BLTs!

I really like Lightlife. Until a few months ago I had no problem taking the strips apart, now it's so crumbly
