lol,I love Johnny. love the way he sings.. Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better singer for this band. For a punk band. Like..he screamed the revolution. You know what I mean? Anyways, thats just my opinion, but. They're just great.
They were all perfect for the everything. Some call it fate. I just call it being lucky. They myth is that Sid was apparently supposed to be the singer for them, but Malcolm got the John’s wrong. Sid was also supposed to try out for The Damned, but never showed up.
the pistols will be with me to the day i die.rip sid.the pistols made my time on this planet more pleasing, thanx for the pleasure all conected with the sexpistols cheers lads, and gals.
Anyone who thinks there's no bass on here, put your headphones on and listen. He does ok considering he'd just been thrown into the band with no bass experience. He plays ok here.
the sex pistols were in the forehead of the punk movement, along with the clash, with some other bands like UK subs, and the vibrators, and then came the ramones. on manchester it was joy division that were "hip" with happy mondays and dorutti column...they were good 10 years of music :) i should know since i was there...
'ello everyone, it's me, the guy who uploaded this video. Just like to let you know that my comments section was pretty much fucked for a period of time. Some of the comments are back, some aren't... should work from now on though.
The whole sex pistol myth is built upon the lie that they were talent less. It is very much like the Nirvana myth...but Lydon's voice was a bloody chainsaw that tore through bullshit, Jonesy was a skilled guitarist, with a flair for "innovating" other's, and Cook was easily the best drummer of his genre.
If it weren't for Nancy, Sid might have actually learned to play. John and Glen didn't get along which I think actually made them a better band. They pushed their agression towards each other into their songs.
I agree completely. In fact, way back then I totally HATED Sex Pistols, but nowadays I can at least listen to them. SO many years of Green Day and similar trash make S.P seem rather tame.
The Ramones were alright, but their material sounded far too similar throughout. The later stuff did change the style, but for the worse. The Pistols did it right. Short, sharp, and to the point.
That's not exactly a reason to dislike him. 'Showering'. That's meant to be tongue-in-cheek. They just didn't get along and that's what made the band great and fall down.
Shit, solitairecheater I accidently deleted your comment. Feel free to post it again (I went to hit REPLY... it's early, etc). But don't mention Sid Vicious. Once Sid is in the band, they cease to be a band so they can't be judged on that period.
I was never told to like Sid, I was young I listened sex pistols and the one i liked the most was Sid, where did you get that idea? Do you really think someone can make me like something?? (i would shoot myself if that ever happens) It is known that Rotten didnt like much Sid, and when he was here in Argentina with PIL he spited on a Sid Vicious t-shirt. Offcourse no one was born being a punk, neither was sid, but i think he liked a lot that way of living.
everyone seems to ignore paul cook and steve jones for some reson they can actually play and guys i think we got that sid cant play bass i think we are set on that
I didnt mean litterally told to :P I ment more like, because he's ment to be the front figure. Thats what I ment, but I liked him the most in the beginning to.
So what if the Ramones came first? That's not what we're debating. We're debating if the Ramones were a punk rock band or not. I say not. Not that it matters, they were still good, but my point remains.
No future, no future, no future for you. No future, no future, no future for SID. U still think he was a fake???! Do u really think any of this guys where fake?
American pre-punk bands were to much into american way of life. The Sex Pistols bring punk to another level, to world level not only NY or LA, but to Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Lima, Rome, Buenos Aires...etc.etc...etc...the Sex Pistols did it, not Ramones or Ny Dolls.
Lol. They have Sid's amp completely turned down or off. He was apparently picking up on the bass pretty quickly until Nancy came along and he turned into a waste.
i agree with most of this. although i think its a streach to say they were "the orginal punk rock band" the ramones did like beach boys sounding rock just sped up a little.
I'm amazed these guys are so popular but have so little money. The lead singer net worth is only $1 million and he doesn't have any fancy stuff, isn't into cars or anything. Green Day is worth something like $50 mil per band member and although I have met the group and all, I can't say they are better than the original punk groups of the 1970s.
Haha excellent. He's pretty much conceded defeat now and gone into a state of idiotic repetition in a vain attempt to save some face. Give it up tricky, you're only making yourself look stupid. Nice way of avoiding our questions too :) Marvellous.
I heard someone say Nancy was Sid's Yoko. Lol 😆 Rumor has it John Hinkley was aiming at Yoko but she let out a banshee scream that diverted the bullet.
NOTE FOR EVERYONE I have chosen to block trickyflyingdave from posting. I don't care if someone doesn't like the song, video, or the band but if they do then they need to give real reasons. They need to intelligently put their argument forward. trickyflyingdave did not do this. Instead he chose to act like a little teenager and adopt an "I'M RIGHT, YOU'RE WRONG!" approach. If you disapprove of me editing the posts then so be it. I just can't tolerate an ignorant wanker.
Well I think otherwise and I have plenty of Stooges albums, love them all. The Stooges aren't a punk band to me. Punk is a movement. Yes The Stooges may have put down the foundations for a lot of the bands to follow, but that doesn't make them part of the movement. They merely influenced it.
Hey, why I think Sid was a fake is because he wasnt punk in the begining. He was just another kid who liked the music and had alot of thoughts, but when he started to play with the sex pistols he changed hes personality. "He wasnt really vicious, I namned him after my dead hamster!" Jhonny rotten said it.. I think you guys should get OWN OPINIONS. I think you like Sid because your like, told to. That is not punk, punk is not to follow rules.
I don't think that Black Flag or Bad Brains really 'matter'. I'm not saying they're shit, that's a side issue, but very few bands made a relevant impact as did the Pistols, Clash, Damned, etc.
I actually like Black Flag because I like their song My War and it's really good. Because I like Black Flag, the Pistols, Clash, Damned, Death Little Finger, etc.
nah, he aint even plugged in..look at 16 17 he's picking steady notes while the band is accenting the intro...if he was plugged in you would hear that. believe me, i have been playin for a long time. i agree were great though.
But the Pistols weren't trying for some great 'revolution'. All they wanted was to make music and create their own little scene - for them, by them. That's it. There was nothing more to it. The other bands are the ones who took it to stupid extremes.
yeh i kno nancy really fucked it up 4 sid but i know what your trying to say n your right rotten dident end up hateing sid but he stil wasnt really friends with him anymore.
lol,I love Johnny.

Both the Ramones and the Sex Pistols saved rock 'n' roll in the '70s. Thanks!!!
Absolutely agree 100%
Didn't last forever sadly, we got horrendous music today
I really think the stooges had a lot to do with it to probably the first punk band ever right 👍 ☮️
the pistols will be with me to the day i die.rip sid.the pistols made my time on this planet more pleasing, thanx for the pleasure all conected with the sexpistols cheers lads, and gals.
Great comment. Thx
@@helenbroderick934most definitely!
If your asking me, I'm a Pistols fan more, Johnny epitomizes what punk is and should be. GREATEST band of all time, that one record is gold
Sid's bass playing sounds perfectly adequate. He's on time and in tune, and he knows the song. I'm sure we've all dealt with worse than that.
+ElectricLabel Cookie often said, it was probably one of their best gig. Without tensions in the band. Sid was not "broken" by heroïn in this time.
ElectricLabel I doubtbue was plugged in lol
there is no bass sound in there bollock!
Anyone who thinks there's no bass on here, put your headphones on and listen. He does ok considering he'd just been thrown into the band with no bass experience. He plays ok here.
@@charirmaulana3966 your a mook
Glen Matlock is the man! He is the GENIOUS Sex Pistol songwriter.
God Bless Glen. He made the Pistols music GREATEST.
The Best Punk Musician!
The band definitely went downhill when Glen left! His playing and backing vocals was never replaced by Sid. Although Sid had the better image
I love the Ramones, NY Dolls, etc. but my God, the Sex Pistols changed the world.
Johnny Rotten the best
ほんとかっこいい…!!
今はこーゆー感じの刺激がないから、すごい時代だなって思う。
お父様に感謝👍💗
I looove Steve's leap at the beginning hehe he rules!
I have this clip in the NMTB's DVD, really cool!
Thanks for the post...

Sid is more than cool no...he was.....or is he at live;-)))) He was AWESOME!!!
+Daniela Schwarz he's one of the coolest punks I've ever seen.
+Eiwar II Oh yes and we was so beautiful
Daniela Schwarz Sex Pistols were one of my favorite bands while I was in high school.
Yeah,I wish I were a teenager at this time but I am born 10 years to late ;-D They were so awesome, and I told you:SID
Le riff et le refrain les plus efficaces au monde!
ahh The Sex Pistols..my all time Fav. Band. And Johnny my Idol. :) if only he was young. :'( he was such a hottie. Thanks for the great video.

happy 58th birthday Sid Vicious, celebrate it wherever you are :D
If it weren't for Nancy, Sid might have actually learned to play. John and Glen didn't get along which I think actually made them a better band. They pushed their agression towards each other into their songs.
The Pistols were mostly doing covers of our bands too, covering tracks from the Small Faces and The Who.
the filth and the fury is great, you should see it. It´s on Ares
You're only 29, gotta lot to learn
and when your Mummy dies, she will not return
Long live Rock'n'Roll.Long live the SexPistols

this is brilliant footage.... which source is it from btw? (I'd love footage like this to be officially released oneday!)
Staggering guitar sound
Nice input.
What a song.
What is the patch on the back of Sid's jacket?
good job sidney.i hope some of ur greatness will be on me one day

mitic song!!!!! :)
The Ramones were alright, but their material sounded far too similar throughout. The later stuff did change the style, but for the worse.
The Pistols did it right. Short, sharp, and to the point.
Yeah keep it simple like short, sharp, and to the point.
The Ramones were the trailblazers and they inspired the Pistols. So thank God for them both
the way Sid Vicious played the bass was so cool
hahahahaha..he couldn't play a fuckinmg note you plum
That's not exactly a reason to dislike him. 'Showering'. That's meant to be tongue-in-cheek. They just didn't get along and that's what made the band great and fall down.
Not only the greatest but the first, but Nevermind (the bollocks)

i think nobody really invented punk, punk is something that had to happen and happened
Revolutionizing the airwaives

No future, no future, no future for SID.

I realised that made me sound like I don't like The Ramones. I do, a lot... just not as much as the Pistols of course :)

Dennis S and that is a fucking travesty. Green Day is unfit to lace the Sex Pistols' boots.
It’s not about the money you twat it’s about the music if they were all about money they’d work for the fucking man
What about the Beatles, most overrated, over paid band of all time.

Sounds like The Alice Cooper Group, circa 1971-72
Il punk è solo nel d n Anarchici.
If you would care to actually read the comments then you would already know why and not need to ask that stupid question.
But the Pistols weren't trying for some great 'revolution'. All they wanted was to make music and create their own little scene - for them, by them. That's it. There was nothing more to it. The other bands are the ones who took it to stupid extremes.
the british bands were doing covers of american bands before they came up with their own
i dont think sid is plugged in. i cant locate a bass in this.
Never did
after they saw the Ramones...

I agree with tbone5665!!!

Gosh what a lot of arguing! Has anyone listened to The Sonics from the mid 60's? I think that they had something to do with punk genetics.
No idea what the hell Abercrombie is but if he's wearing it then so be it.
What?.... Cookie and Jones were fumbling along, there weren't any musicians in this band! just kids knocking out tunes.
The Damned were? Just because they released their single first? Bollocks.
And The Stooges a punk band? Don't make me laugh.
Is that punk?
Putain de capitalisum 🤪
Not as much as your posts do, of course.
haha that girl at the end
Was gonna comment but couldn’t be bothered 🙄
Amazing the bass🤣🤣

Yeah, but the Ramones are the grandfathers of punk.
