Punk culture rebels against any and everything "establishment". What John saw in the 70s in England was the biggest pedophile in the country hosting a kids show and being shielded from his crimes by the very House of Windsor. And that pissed him off ad it would any caring, red-blooded person. It came out in his music. Bluntly honest and so fitting of the times.

I never gave this band a shot because of one like in a DM song, decades later I hear it for the first time today Sirius and LOVE it!

I'm 54 and have seen the greatest rock bands and jazz musicians ever to walk the earth. I've been to some punk shows at the old Ritz in NYC and even met Joey Ramone in Washington Square Park but was never really into the scene. I recently lost my hearing and everything is just gurgle and distortion. Now I turn the noise down and read the lyrics. I had no idea what a great lyricist Joe Strummer was. I loved the Clash as a teenager but then again, everyone did. I just saw The Future is Unwritten and from that alone decided to check out this video. It's all distortion to me but I'm interested in hearing what these guys had to say.

One of my favorite PiL songs. I love the interlude at 2:42. I always wish it lasted longer than just a few seconds.
