*Locked Box Test*
If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and nothing bad will happen, then it's probably Safe.
If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and you're not entirely sure what will happen, then it's probably Euclid.
If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and it easily escapes, then it's probably Keter.
If it is the box, then it's probably Thaumiel.
So this one should be Safe?
You gotta add 2 more things.
If you lock it in the box, leave it alone and more hell breaks loose than it was BEFORE you even locked it in the box, then its probably Archon
If you can't lock it in the box at all, then its probably Apollyon. Also the box and everything in and outside the box got destroyed.
If it is the box test, its probably a 001 candidate
What do you call it when you put it in a box and the outside of the box becomes the inside and vice versa? Only the research team at our site is at their wit's end deciding how to classify it.
WeaponXSigma
Are Apollyon and Archon are narrative object classes, yes? So adding it to the “Locked Box Test” would mean having to add all other Esoteric/Narrative Object Classes, which would take too long. Either way, there are few SCPs that the two actually applies to and the Locked Box Test isnt meant to apply to everything. Adding that to it would confuse new readers when they find out theres hardly any Apollyon or Archon SCPs
Apparently this is how some UK lawmakers think knives work.
And bike wheels and forks as well
*count Dankula wants to know your location*
This is how some U.S officials think guns work.
And safety scissors
You got a loicense for that potato peeler?!
I always liked how this SCP takes direct inspiration from the 1964 Kitty Genovese murder case. Something about 37 witnesses passing a public murder and not doing anything about it sure is blood chilling.
Which also inspired Rorshak in the Watchman comic.
Less than 5 of her neighbors actually knew there was something going on, most of them were sleeping. One teen was woken up by the noise, and told his dad, who called the police, mind you, "911" didn't exist at the time and most people didn't even know how to call the cops
@@dave-cj5gb There is still plenty of modern day examples of the bystander effects. Studies to test it have involved someone seemingly suffering a heart attack on the street and collapsing, and very few people actually did anything, and it happens all the time for minor things. Whenever someone can think, nah, it's fine, someone else will do it, that's the bystander effect.
Yeah, I remember learning that case in a uni class. I can't imagine what that poor woman must have felt, no one coming to her aid.
Except the part about the bystanders was never real. It was manufactured to sell newspapers.

It could be argued that it should be classed as "Safe" since, you know, all that needs to be done to contain it is to keep it in a locked box in a secure location. That's honestly quite easy compared to other Euclid-class SCPs.
cry w yeah but if a d-class grabs it during a containment breach then nobody would be able to fight back.
Yeah, however since 668 is so difficult to recontain once it become loose, needing a significant number of personnel, resources, and blind luck to circumvent its effects (not to mention the possibilities should it fall into certain hands) I think it at least a low level Euclid, but not a Safe
The flaw in the Lockbox Test is that it doesn’t factor the difficulty of putting it back in the box once it gets out.
The other flaw is that following the hypothetical to the letter doesn’t work for Keter anomalies, as an anomaly that only presents problems when put in a locked box technically wouldn’t be all that problematic.

@@jackjohnston8048 you know what would happen if 682 consumes that knife?
he will take the knife's abilities and use it for himself or even amplify it to be more dense and powerful.

Why is this his favorite? Is he a psychopath?
@@trod146 He explained it on his discord server a few times, something about the simplicity of the concept and how effectively it's used in writing, how this SCP is tied in to several wiki Tales, and that he just likes object SCPs (they don't often get as much attention as humanoid, monster/animal, building, etc. SCPs)
As a knife maker, this surely is my favourite SCP too.
Timothy Trex3 it’s sounds fun to use though
The production quality of these videos is incredibly, especially compared to other scp type videos. You deserve so much more subscribers.
Imagine if there was a SCP which was based completely off of empathy. NOTHING could cause them to do anything that would hurt someone else without a reason. No amount of mind control, hatred, etc, would cause them to do anything apathetic.
I wonder how they'd react to the knife (especially holding it).
Give it to 999
It's nice to see an actual portion of a SCP including how the item was contained.

It can't.
RIP Scp 668 . for Trying to the flex tape
Damn those tonberries for leaving their -killing- kitchen utensils laying around.
*The sharpest tool in the shed*
This sounds like a good weapon against SCP-682
It's pointed out in the article itself that his psychic resistance is high enough to still kill the person wielding it. I'd assume they'd let it go after the wielder if it weren't for the fact that if it had the knife no one would be able to contain it and it would probably just result in everyone dying.
I think the classification is based more on difficulty of containment than the actual difficulty of keeping it contained. Sure it wont get out of a locked box on its own but if that box is ever opened and this gets into the wrong hands the inability of the foundation to recocntain the object could lead to major problems. So while the locked box test would have this object as safe I think that due to the nature of the object that it should be considered as a higher level threat to the foundation.
Which makes even more sense if you consider what the in-universe purpose of object classes is, which would most likely be to designate budget and research priority. And due to the difficulty of recontainment and ease of breaching containment if you can just access 668, the Foundation would likely designate it as a higher priority object than a standard Safe-class object.
Weird question, but does anyone else listen to this before bed? Super calming. Love this channel!
I generally thought that the knife would have gave you ultimate cooking abilities and I was confused on why it was Euclid
This SCP isn't really that well known is it? a pretty deep cut for a video

Ahh, the first series. Back when SCP's were totally classified based on apparent danger level.
To be fair, it still fits within the new classifications. They thought it impossible to contain, and very dangerous only to find it out is somewhat hard to contain and still dangerous.
This sounds like a stand DIO would have.

He said "fill-et" instead of "fill-ay" 😂 kinda took me out of it a tiny bit, but love your work.
I love how these apparently simple-looking objects can be so horrifyingly powerful.
Yes! I love seeing a Volgun notification!
I love how the Foundation went straight from “send in an MTF” to “collateral damage authorized (ie aerial bombardment)”. Definitely not one of their proudest days. Couldn’t they just flood the area with tear/sleep/amnestic gas?
While a fascinating (& classic) item with creative containment log, I gotta admit, out of universe, this likely needs revision.
So if this knife makes any humanoids unable to resist, could it be successfully used against any dangerous humanoid SCP such as 096 ,173 or even 343? Or might they boast some kind of psychic resistance? I love imagining the scenarios that could occur between these beings in the SCP collection.
Great video as always, keep it up!
They do cover that. They have a way of rating resistance to cognitive influence and have determined that the chef's knife's influence is not high enough for that.
Agh... I had a cursed thought looking at the thumbnail of this vid. The idea that popped into my head would be a knife, that can cut anything, but also turns an area near the cut... into cake.
Class designation: not for destructability or damage it can cause to the world, but for how hard it is to contain/keep contained/if containing it will harm people/personnel
Man, quality of your videos keeps imroving. You put a lot of effort into this and it really shows. Keep up the good work, you're doing amazing ^^

I absolutely love your videos. At this point I've watched them all.
If it's impossible for the subject to come to harm, would that mean that when the red storm completes its weapon, it wont be able to fire because destroying the planet would kill the subject?
I believe only only if the subject holds desire to harm Red Storm
If the subject wishes to kill someone on the planet that opens a can of worms of “what is interfering” when it comes to someone killing someone else as you’d be helping them kill the other person.
This is really cutting edge!

What do you mean? You could definitely prepare a human with this.
Holy hell I love the new design of the videos! Great work! ^-^
That is a shockingly detailed handle for a chef's knife. Polished wood with brass caps, seems more like the kind of thing you'd expect to see on a hunting knife.
There are plenty of examples of this type of thing if you shop around for hand forged chef knives. I once came into contact with one that was a damascus steel blade with a gold inlaid bone handle. They're pure show pieces, not something you ever want to use for any kind of real kitchen work... even if they are perfectly capable of it.
@@chiblast100x That's basically what I meant. I'm trying to set up my own forge presently and I don't get the appeal of wasting my time crafting wall-hangers. My favorite blade is a simple Spey point hunting knife with a basic handle and a tar coat to protect the steel. Over complicated designs tend to harm the functionality of a good blade,
‘Tis 4AM in my side of Asia but screw it

Also that murder they mentioned in that Happened in the 70s actually happened the victim's name was kitty genovese and unfortunately the bystander effect is actually a real thing
Always hate to remember that incident
People actually called the cops in the Genovese case. The police had very slow response times though, so the police chief made the story up to cover for their mistale.
That incident report never fails to disturb me.
Am I the only one who wants a action/horror series about the scp foundation? It would be so cool to see an 05 or special task forces using scps as weapons against other scps. Breaches, the doorman, star child vs the deer, the crimson king, etc...

When in possession by a individual it should be considered keter.
