I am a little conflicted about this guy. On the one hand he killed multiple agents in cold blood to escape the foundation. But on the other side, he knew his boss wanted a real soul and he made the concious decision to not harm the client. also apparently his ''boss'' is holding someone or something hostage and forces him to sell all this stuff.
It's also terrifying to think that his 'boss' is even more powerful than he is. Maybe the reason he's not telling the foundation anything is because he doesn't want them to get hurt. Yes, he killed a squad of them and escaped, but maybe that's _better_ than letting them find his boss.
I'm not sure if it's so much as saving somebody as it was just playing a joke on his boss, to either get in his good graces or to piss him off intentionally. I don't think he really likes earth/humans that much, considering his statements before the phonecall
This guy sounds like a nice addition to a DnD campaign. Regularly shows up out of nowhere to sell the PCs something they need but for a very inconvenient price.
I remember a dnd podcast that involved an evil sorcerer who was kinda just comedic despite being dangerous. He would cause problems and then disappear before anyone caught him and it was usually pretty simple goals he blew out of proportion. At one point the players confront him as he’s grave robbing and when they ask what he’s doing just casually mentions “getting skeleton soldiers” when it brought up that if you want skeletons specifically couldn’t you just make them with milk? Next time they see him he has undead being order to start milking cows in a field so he can make skeletons. He stole a farm to do it.
I liked this one way better at the beginning before it was written that it could just kill anyone it wanted. It was more interesting that it had to convince you to buy its thing to get it to go away. Knowing that it can just summon objects inside your body to kill you ruins the drama.
I disagree. The random element makes things even more interesting imo. SCPs with wildly varying outcomes are always the most fascinating to me, especially since some like 261 and 294 are apparently considered "safe" just because they're in foundation custody while ones like 1879 are considered Keter just because they're uncontained. They all can easily harm or help just as many people, so all the foundation really cares about is which ones are in custody.

If the scale were really as true to sheer containment complexity/difficulty as the foundation says, then SCPs like 2006 have no reason to be classed as Keter rather than Safe. Likewise, there are several entities like SCP-2571 that are effectively totally uncontained but classed as Euclid or Safe. The potential risk and SCP poses is USUALLY taken into account with classification.

Just based on the last audio log, they selling items more as a means to an end than out of a motive for profit. Or just let him through and then have a massive vault door slide in between the door to block him before you destroy said door. He’ll be stuck in a room with no way out.

Not sure how he was able to kill the agents at the end. His powers are very clearly tied to deal making (albeit shady conditionals). The agents committed no action indicating they accepted a gift nor agreed to any deal. The money should never have manifested IMO.

They accepted the gift by saying nothing or taking no action to refuse it. Gifts are usually assumed to be accepted unless they are verbally declined. The offer to decline was given with the phrase 'sounds good?' Obviously wouldn't want to use that trick too often though, as agents may figure it out.

I always envisioned the salesman as a young, somewhat thin man with a dark blue suit, weird orange hair puffed up, and a very angular nose. That’s just my headcanon though. He comes off as an exasperated adolescent just trying to meet his quota, while quoting almost directly from his anomalous salesman manual.

I figured it was just a vague reference to the Devil a la ‘Faust’ (‘Faustian Pact’, Mephistopheles- that thing). Would make a cool potential tie-in with another SCP, but I’m not aware of any that would match.
Love the idea that all it takes is for SCP-1879 to be indefinitely contained is to manifest on an underused door in a deaf household for it. Or one person who really just doesn't care.
The salesman could be the same man that the involuntary dimension hopper encountered repeatedly, and shot to no avail. He certainly fits the description.

They accepted the gift by saying nothing or taking no action to refuse it. Gifts are usually assumed to be accepted unless they are verbally declined. The offer to decline was given with the phrase 'sounds good?' Obviously wouldn't want to use that trick too often though, as agents may figure it out.

Funny thing about the soul trade is the sales man could have taken their actual soul and not just the records, double whammy making them think they’re Scott free, they die and wake up in hell. 😬
I always envisioned the salesman as a young, somewhat thin man with a dark blue suit, weird orange hair puffed up, and a very angular nose.
That’s just my headcanon though. He comes off as an exasperated adolescent just trying to meet his quota, while quoting almost directly from his anomalous salesman manual.
That drawing will haunt my dreams for the next month.

Love the idea that all it takes is for SCP-1879 to be indefinitely contained is to manifest on an underused door in a deaf household for it. Or one person who really just doesn't care.
