I do routine services every 5k miles, so hearing that these are overbuilt and just maintain them properly and they will love you back makes me feel a weight off my shoulders!
Awesome video! Love my VW as well. It's an MK5 though. 12 years of ownership this year. Daily driven, and i drive it with my 1 year old and 6 year old little girls. Has catless downpipe with muffler delete. PTE5858 big turbo. Can't complain. Loud, but my 1 year old could still fall asleep while driving it.

As a japanese car guy I cant argue with the direction VW is taking with its performance models, from an engineering perspective. Dsg or DCT transmission cars is the way to go.
I don’t have a GTI, just the basic Golf, but I’ve loved modifying it. I’ll probably never get it to the point of Clubsport, but it is a fun car to drive and play with.
Just recently bought a Mk7 GTI and after seeing this video it has taken alot of weight off my shoulders to know that the GTI's are far more tolerable... I come from owning a B7 S4 with a 4.2 V8, and you don't realize how much ptsd you get from the constant issues and catastrophic failures LOL.
I have a 2016 Seat Cupra 290 and it also has the same golf r engine with DCC as standard plus it has the e-diff which is really nice, the dsg upshift bangs are very addictive and it is great fun to drive.
Couple of questions....1) Is that a stock is38 or a hybrid is38? Because there is no way your running 126mph with a stock is38. 2) what's the advantages of running the jb4 with the APR stage 2 tune? Can itCouple harm the motor? 3) When you ran the 11.1@125mph how much did the car weight? Did you remove all the interior? Thanks love the car.

This was an awesome build. Even though I am not really a hot hatch guy as I am old AF this is a great looking GTI for sure. I like. So you guys have to know I have starting to have some SERIOUS plans regarding my Mk7 GLI after that spring install David did for me @DAPRepair. Yes I recognized your voice on this video David, you sir are a badass auto tech! Still highly impressed on how fast you did the lowering springs on mah bebe a couple of weeks ago. Looks like depending on the schedule I will be down to chat about future plans for the GLI and put some more goodies on her next week sometime. I think when I am ready and out of warranty or close to it I will go full ham and do the stage 3 IS38 swap and get an aftermarket clutch and more serious track upgrades installed.
Owning your love of an automatic, I dig it. Am tired of the manual guys thinking auto guys are not real drivers, real enthusiasts. Like you, I love my manual too, but autos do it all better. Driving is about the gas, brake and wheel...no clutch pedal needed. Real cool car, too!!!! I have a GLI S w DSG...mainly due my kids as well.
Can't wait to get my Alltrack to 300whp via tune, downpipe and IS20. Any faster than that and I'd have to get the lawyer's involved on a regular basis.
Those new, faster Megane Trophy R’s are firckin sweet but for the price this is way better. I’m not a fan of the new Mk8 aesthetics and it’s slower. I hope to mod my Mk6 Golf TDI into a sub 8min Nurburgring car and take it there one day.
I emailed a question to shop dap haven't gotten a response yet. Question was. The oem tcr imported exhaust is a direct bolt on to a mk7. 5 in America? Like it's the same sized pipe? Gonna convert my cornflower blue rabbit into a tcr. All oem parts.

It's not a clubsport. Clubsport is lighter, has a lighter and stronger subframe. Different and slightly stronger internals because this GTI doesnt have the R engine thus not having same hpfp and lpfp. Also, the guy doesnt know what he is talking about, even if they didnt set a Nürburgring record, this car would be as popular as it is now

Oil change every 2,500 Miles or 4,000 KM OEM recommended 15,000 KM DSG fluid change every 10,000 miles or 16,000 KM OEM recommended 80,000 KM The car was sitting at 34,600 miles ~ 55,360 KM @ 1.38 my 2015 VW GTI 3 door Performance edition is sitting at 93K km with stage 1 tune from unitronic at 20k KM. I've been doing oil changes every 8K km and transmission fluid changes every 50k KM. Tune but increase the maintenance cycle!
Should I tune my 2009 2.0 TSI Scirocco? It's the 200hp one (EA888 gen 1 I believe). I've done the chain and tensioner (known issue on mk6's as well). Just got a few esthetic mods on it (wheels, tires, lowered, etc) but never really wanted to touch the engine because of the chain issue, etc but now since that is fixed, I might just do it right? It's a DSG as well. A stage 1 would set me at 270 hp and 420 nm (310 ft-lbs)
I want more information on the jb4 file please? What fuel was in the car on dyno? My MK7.5 GTI on 93 octane has a touch over 400hp at engine. About 350 WHP. Of course more torque. I track mine on road courses and started modding mine one month after I bought it new. I have the IS38 also. Thanks

@@Detriuch that’s because most of us aren’t going to drag strips to track times. Guaranteed if we all lined up and tested it, a lot of us would. Especially DSG guys. It’s literally step on the gas pedal and go. Hardly any skill involved to reach that time.
Pickle Ahoy true. Thing is you can’t fit the club sport spoiler on a GTi. To fit it you need a regular MK7 Golf Hatch. Won’t fit on a MK7 GTi/R. I looked into it. I daily a MK7 GTi Performance Package.
3:28 I think his hat may be on to tight. A front bumper conversion does not suddenly give you equivalent laptimes of an actual Clubsport on the track.🙄🤷♂️
@@ABeans07 I know several people in my local R/GTI group who stack JB4 to run Meth & variable Ethanol blends on the fly. Given the VII doesn't have map switching aval like older gens. Outside owning a Cobb AP. You're locked to one file unless your specific tuner is one of the flash at home types (Like IE or Uni for example) I'm APR Stage 2 right now. And stacking would allow me to tune for Meth and use it when I want. When not in use, don't have to worry. Same goes for Ethanol. I could stack to utilize E20, E30, E40 and be able to go back to my base OTS tune when I'm not running blends. The best way to go about this is to just get a Cobb AP. But it would be a lot of wasted money to ditch what I already have now for something that can be done from stacking. Call it "hack" all you want. It works and works fine.

Dont be, I have been on stock clutch mt with stage 1 for 20k with no issues. Currently at 50k and never had an issue whatsoever.

Yea I thought it was a manual but its a DSG clutch hes referring to, and they are more stout.
The DSG can hold upwards of 500 lb ft of torque before the discs begin to slip.

And DSG is better for engine, also you can TCU tune the automatic transmission making it even faster/better & more reliable.

Had a MK5 GTI at 270hp for 5 years, the extra horses made it next level fun, had no issues (after upgrading PCV, diverter valves)
I have been trying to do a burnout with my clubsport but it's not working what am I doing wrong it's dsg

Front brake may be more affective on tts calipers 4 piston and 340mm clubsport disk.

Look into lower dogbone mount options. I used Powerflex hybrid bush on my Cupra 280, same platform

Can the same power level be achieved with 8v A3? It's virtually the same drivetrain as the R but GTI engine correct?

Its a hack way of tuning a car to get more power. You are fighting the ecu tune and the jb4s adjustment. Very very poor idea.
