There was a great restaurant in Indianapolis - Russia House - babshka made everything... out of this world. Mushroom soup called 'julienne', Riga sprats, Georgian pate, salad Olivia, shashlik and cherry dumplings for desert.

I grew up eating this. It was always the highlight of Aurunn to switch to the Winter soups from the Summer cucumber soups. With of course, the black bread. The best bread in the World!

I like how multi-faceted this channel is. Not only are the Russian and American cultures getting to know one another, but we also get to watch a young vlogger, actor and possible food critic in the making!
There was an eastern European deli I used to get piroshki from, they were goddamn DELICIOUS, there's not a Russian bone in my body but the food can be SO damn good. I've always preferred strong dark rye bread to fluffy white crap too, so maybe I DO have a Russian bone in my body somewhere hidden. :-/
Please take mom and grandma to restaurant for brunch. Treat them to afternoon tea. Or just dessert.

It sounds like you have the same restrictions that I have (diabetic?), but I am nonetheless convinced that I need to find a Russian restaurant to try.
