    There is a saying in China that 100 years ago Germany and Italy laughed at American cars, and then American cars became a huge success. 70 years ago America laughed at Japanese cars, and then Japanese cars became a huge success. 40 years ago, Japan and the America laughed at Korean cars, and then Korean cars became a huge success. 10 years ago, America, Japan and Europe laughed at Chinese cars...………

And with rapid Revolution of AI assisted software, the products will be smarter and make the car as a smart terminal connect to electronic device rather than a tool of moving, once mutual products in China assembled in Mexico. It is unbeatable. Because it is cheaper, smarter, more fancy. Even Countervailing subsidies Anti-dumping investigations cannot stop the trend changing. Solar panel industry has proved it. 40 years ago All cars brand in the world enter to China market with huge 1.4 billion market , but China smart they put conditions whoever want to open a factory have to join venture with local company, they learn how to manufacture cars and learn how to market them, eventually they master it and now conquer the world. Rather US block China car companies, why they don't do the same things like China used to do it. The benefit China cars company will create jobs, then can learn how China managed efficient productions , then American cars made can be competitive again and hopefully can do export again from US .

      In addition to all the IP and trade violations, China NEV (New Energy Vehicle) policies were designed to cripple foreign competition and protect their domestic industry. So for instance, all foreign battery competitors had to give up their patent rights in order to access their market. Once they were let in, no subsidies to EVs with batteries from foreign competitors -- even if they were made in China. This was all part of China's state industrial policy since 2015.

    60% of the EVs are manufactured and sold in China making it the largest market. In Asean countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, Chinese EVs are the market leaders. Next year, BYD and Hozon will start manufacturing in Thailand. When GM left Thailand, Great Wall Motor bought over the factory and is now manufacturing its range of Haval suv.
    Geely is the largest shareholder in Proton, Malaysia's national. Proton might start manufacturing the SMART EV as Geely owns 10% of Daimler Benz. Geely also owns Volvo, Polestar and Lotus.
    Of the 10 largest EV battery manufacturers in the world; 6 are Chinese. They account for over 62% of the world's EV battery. CATL and BYD are ranked as no.1 and 2 respectively accounting for 52% of the world's production. There are 1Japanese and 3 Koreans in this top 10 list.
    The Chinese also supply 90% of the cathode and 70% of the anode materials used in EV battery.
    The EV battery market is similar to the solar panel industry where the Chinese dominate the supply chain with 80% share of the market.

What about charge times, like what are you going to do for 45 minutes as your car is charging? Eat more food at the station? What about having enough copper in the ground for decent speed charging stations at home? And at work? And at apartment complexes? And what about those who have to street park? What about drastically reduced range in very hot or very cold weather? What about disposal of all those mostly non-recyclable battery packs? Ever see them try to put out an EV fire? Maybe they'll have all that taken care of in 50 years.

      Maybe in 50 years you'll stop making up lies about a product that you are obviously afraid of.
      ALL EV batteries are recyclable. And 95% of the materials are recovered.
      ICE cars catch fire SIXTY TIMES more frequently than EVs, per capita. And that's based on old data before LFP type batteries became popular. Now, it's more like 120 times.
      What about? What about? What about?
      How about the environmental disaster that oil extraction leaves behind at every site (and that's millions of sites, with many more needed every single year)? And the massive cancer outbreaks around oil refineries? The spills? The leaks? The flaring of methane? The cancer and respiratory disease caused by the vehicle exhaust? The massive energy used in transporting and refining oil (like 20% of ALL energy used goes to these two things).
      And last but not least, what about the changing climate and the rising sea levels, which Edward Teller warned the American Petroleum Institute about back in 1959?

      Battery technology is advancing at a rapid rate, these problems will be largely solved. Does anyone know what percentage of Mexicans have their own house as opposed to living in apartment blocks etc.? If you have a home charger, most of those things will not be a significant problem. As for the charging infrastructure, the Mexican government should step in to help develop it.
      Can't you recycle the individual cells in the battery packs? In the US , there are EV specialists springing up to service EV batteries. Right now Tesla charges around $22,000 for a brand new battery, but these specialists can repair the old ones for for say a quarter(or less) of that.

    I think that dollar guy is kind of dumb, does he not remember how the Japanese takeover of the automotive market happened? This is about consumers and what consumers approve of just like it was back then regardless of politics. If the Chinese can offer something at a lower price that's of equal or better quality to an American product than Americans once again are going to have to start engaging in some nice healthy competition and that is how you're going to get cheaper american-made EVs. Boom.

    • @tren133
      @tren133 6 місяців тому

      The difference is Japan and South Korea are American vassal states, and their home car markets are so small they DEPEND on the US market to be a major carmaker. As soon as they became too successful, the US was able to easily coerce their governments to relocate their supply chain and factories to the US, and thereby move all the jobs to the US as well. That's not going to fly with China. Their automakers do not need the US market to grow into global players, and their government wouldn't bend over so easily to US demands either. If the US continues to push protectionist policies, the Chinese automakers can and will just skip the US market, let the Americans continue to pay more for EVs, and use that Mexico factory to build EVs that will take over the entire Latin American market.

    • @juanzingarello4005
      @juanzingarello4005 3 місяці тому

      @@tren133 The Chinese will just skirt those tariffs with production in Mexico. I think its one of the primary reasons BYD is looking at a production facility there not just Latin America. Also, its still cheaper to ship parts and assemble locally than to ship fully manufactured cars so this is probably also done to keep the prices low as Chinese wages are growing. They (BYD) keep claiming they aren't interested in the US market but just 8 months ago they handed Doug Demuro, an American automotive UA-camr, a BYD Song Plus to review, present, and to gauge public opinion. So BYD is very much watching the US market. Don't think for a second they aren't. Its only a matter of time and I hope the legacy automakers are watching closely. I would also note, that 65% of the shareholders in BYD group are American investors. So they already have a large US presence.
      As for your comment on the Japanese and Koreans, they are global leaders too. They may not have their home market like China but they certainly can do without the US market.
