- Ben Affleck is reflecting on the way his ex Jennifer Lopez was treated in the early 2000s, saying her critics were ‘so f**cking mean.’ While appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s Award Chatter podcast Thursday, the 48-year-old actor says there were ‘sexist, racist, ugly vicious s**t’ written about Lopez. Affleck and Lopez began dating in 2002, followed by a year-long engagement, but ‘Bennifer’ went their separate ways in January 2004. Lopez opened up to ET in 2014 about her split with Affleck, calling it her first ‘adult heart break.’

He loved her too. That's why he took the initiative and got her back. He just got spooked about his career, which was wrong on her, but they've both grown. They know the deal.

But he did go back and I believe it was right after she married Marc Anthony so Ben stepped back. Then Garner saw her chance to trap Ben into marriage. I was looking at the dates. He gave this interview around 15th Of January talking about his and Jennifer's relationship years ago instead of his relationship with Ana De Amas or whatever her name is and they were living together. Which was a shocker to people doing the interview. I remember reading that at the time it happened. Then Ana broke up with him January 23rd. Which is in the comments somewhere here too, I heard they were on their way out anyway because Ana wanted kids and Ben was like no. Ben has never forgotten Jennifer Lopez ever. I truly believe she has always been the true love of his life, just as he is hers. In another interview or article, he said he always would think about it. He owned the fact it was his fault the engagement ended and he had made amends with Jennifer over that. They had remained close over the years and always talked well of one another. Which JG hated. He actually wanted JLO in a movie he directed but JG wouldn't have it. Jennifer Garner was married and flirted with Ben while he was engaged to JLo. JG left her husband for Ben. Oh she made a play for him. She is not innocent. As I said Ben was young, and dumb and listened to people saying that Lopez would hurt his career. So he did what he did. He listened and got cold feet. She ended the engagement. I don't know if people know this, but He DID try to get her back afterwards but she said no, she was so hurt and She was already with Marc Anthony. JG quickly got pregnant to entrap Ben and kept having kids to keep him in the marriage. He eventually stopped sleeping with her so she wouldn't get prego anymore and with the drinking & all, it got too much for her. So JG's Karma came back to bite her. These two souls are twin flames that are meant to be together. When Ben must have heard that Jlo was having some kind of trouble in her relationship with ARod and might be single, he knew it was his opportunity. He was personally in a better place himself. Life is short and they are both middle aged now, still look good but not getting younger. They are both more mature, wiser, changed. He knew what he had to do. Good for you, Ben. Make it work. Wow! You already said everything. 😄 It was actually January 18 when it was over. In my opinion, during the Covid lockdown, Ben was looking for companionship, and Ana gave that to him. But I knew this wasn't gonna last, especially that age difference. JLo, I think she was just settling with ARod because they had common backgrounds and she loved his kids, but it wasn't the same love. Ben's a gambler, so he knew when he had that chance, he went all the way in!! He wanted his girl back. 👏🏾 One thing though, between him and Marc, I heard about that. What I heard was he did try to get back with her, but when he found out from someone she already got married to Marc, he just stepped back and let it go. That's when Garner came in the picture. Both rebounds. But it all came full circle. Both happy. Wish them both the best.

He went to extremes to show the world his marriage was not a happy one rather than let JG fool people that it was. There are so many misconceptions and lies being told. Lies were being told that Ana didn't want him no more and quit him. They were saying JG didn't want him anymore which we all know really isn't true. People are actually getting upset when the truth is told about Garner that they have insulted my character!!! I don't like that at all!!! So true. I think Ben regrets leaving JLO. I think he was planning to go back with JLO but Garner got in the way with her pregnancy. He is honest but isn't honesty a part of being honorable. So the guy is honorable even though he made a lot of mistakes in this entire scenario. He was honorable to marry someone he didn't truly love to keep his child from being illegitimate. But he was young and inexperienced to let himself be negatively influenced to give up the love of his life. She was deeply hurt and made the mistake of marrying before she gave things time to correct itself. But would it have done that them both being so inexperienced. Time and years were wasted but like you said, he "stepped up" big time to get his one true love back. They now have enough experience to know that a love like this doesn't happen very often in life and they are not going to waste any more time being separated again. The wasted time has made them more deeply in love!!!

He did not want to divorce, cheated on her but he did not want to separate. the one who made the divorce decision was her and even so they continued living together for a while. This comment section is so ridiculous! It's none of our business! I totally support the return of "Bennifer" because I believe it was true love and they were both really happy together, but I would have supported their life choices anyway. For example I didn't like Alex Rodriguez but as long as Jennifer was happy it was fine for me, but it seems that in reality their relationship did not have a strong feeling at the base. And Alex was always looking for attention, it was like Jennifer was his trophy. While I think Ben is a much more reserved type and doesn't really like the attention of the paparazzi, but he has always spoken highly of Jennifer all these years and for me he has always had many regrets about their past relationship.

Time will only tell but it is my gut feeling these two souls have found their way back home to each other where their hearts belong. How often does this happen? Think about it. We should all be cheering and praying for them. So many things went wrong. Ben was young, dumb and let people influence him. He is a recovered alcoholic but there are many out there that do well. Jen doesn't drink or smoke so that's good for him and them and family. Encourage and support them and their blended family. They are older, wiser and understand what they lost before. Ben is no fool. Agreed. In therapy, they suggest you take risks like this because the worst that can happen is rejection but then the person won’t know ‘what if’. Ben took the risk and won. I’m so glad he did. This was definitely his biggest regret and he acted on it as soon as he saw the opening before it was too late.
