Ben seems genuinely proud of Michael. Both are amazing artists in their own right. What a great conversation.
„Great artists“ 😂 good one
@@membo-_-he said amazing artists, but okay lil bro 😂
@@williamg7138 Wow such a difference!
It just shows your comprehension levels are pretty low, making your opinion matter much less. @@membo-_-
Yh Ben seems like a really good guy. People just assume he's always serious and sad cos of the memes lol
that was 30 minutes of ben hyping up michael and giving him all the flowers. in a world where everybody is ' me me me' all day thats kinda refreshing to see.
Congratulations Ben for imparting your knowledge, experience, passion and confidence to Michael. Your pride shone through in the interview. I am proud just watching this interaction.
The joy you see in Ben Affleck, while speaking about MBJ's growth also shows the amount of passion he has for directing. I loved this video so much. Very inspiring.
This needed to be longer. I love every single movie Ben Affleck has directed and I can't wait to see what Michael B. Jordan does with the films he will direct.
Me to I am sure Michael B will be good.
Creed III is great
@@ITS_JADECAMERONPOVS He is. He directed Creed III.
Wow. So out of touch. This is a perfect example of how big Michael is and how people still don’t pay him the proper attention. He filmed Creed 3 which came out earlier this year.
@@ITS_JADECAMERONPOVSthe film he already directed has been out for months.
Ben should have a podcast where he talks to other directors. He seems like the coolest guy and has been thru all the ups and downs and always asks such great questions in these things
his interview with Fincher is the best episode they've done of these imo
@@hippityhoppitywlmao that was so freaking good. The way he gave flinch his flower and how he was just blushing as Ben goes on and on. I love that so much
He could make a podcast with Clooney, De Niro, Stallone, Washington, Gibson, Eastwood and Cnoster about transition of actor to director.
He and Matt Damon are said to have the highest IQs in Hollywood.
@@artur6040 are you sure ?
I love how much Ben hyped Michael up in this. This pairing is for the dudes. Great job Variety
The thing i love most about Variety is how much they make the Directors feel completely comfortable to just have a conversation about damn near anything in these Directors on Directors set.
Again this felt like a conversation literally between a brotherly bond type of way, Ben giving flowers & knowledge & completely admiration being a proud brother to see Michael keep blooming. Michael completely taking the advice, showing his general great mannered self & accepting what Big Bro has to say.
Man this is great i wish this was longer holy wow...such a therapeutic conversation
Man what the fuck yall bots waffling about in here
It’s cool to see the mutually respect they have for each other. You can tell there’s a real friendship there between them. Another phenomenal pairing. Hope to see them in a movie together one day.
The Accountant 2 would be an AMAZING matchup
It’s cool to see that you know nothing about film 🧠🗑🤡
Variety are killing it with these interviews and pairings!!! Great interview with two amazing filmmakers and actors 🙌🏼
for real !!!
It’s seems forced and fake.
@JohnCarlDeMay HATER ALERT , you want to be different so bad , your comment is forced
Word !
Brown noser!
It makes me happy to see Ben Afleck happy.
I’m glad there more of us
Has anyone seen Ben this happy in an interview!? LOL i mean i know he's a good guy, talented guy etc.. I just feel so happy to see him like this. and i have this bons with someone, being the Ben, its a blessing. A brother you never had.
Ben affleck comes off so genuine also like the movies he directed. For Michael keep killing it.
Killmonger and Batman wasn’t the collab I expected but the one we needed
Or Killmonger and Daredevil
Or Human Torch and Batman
Completing this scenario with Human Torch and Daredevil
😅 love it
Ben Affleck needs to produce and direct more movies. Honestly he up there among the best directors we have.
I mean he’s done a lot since 2007
i'm not sure what i expected out of this. but i'm deadass.. this is the realest most authentic directors on directors i've seen. most of them feel like the people were just set up by their team as pr for movie, this feels like these guys are actually friends.
Got that vibe too...sincere
I love the fact that Ben being such a household name is still humble enough and genuine to not only recognize but voice his opinion of Michael’s growth and directing skills. It’s so refreshing seeing him fan over Michael. So cool just two dudes giving props! Awesome
I mean an Artist is gonna be an Artist , doesn’t matter how famous you are, True artist would be exactly this…not only praising something but recognizing talent , being a fan of other talent within your own field .. yeah it’s their job / the dream Job , but these people wanna do what they do…at least the actors i watch haha… i dont watch anyone who “ doesn’t wanna show up for work today “ … You’re here because you wanna do this….
Love hearing that Ben reached out to Michael to compliment his work and offer support. That says alot about him.
Michael branching out into the directing world is great to see and honestly did an excellent job with his debut for Creed III. Also important for him to be discussing it with a veteran in the industry like Ben.
lol, everybody is a director now. What a joke.

@@RYO-dy8rk haha you really believe all these actors are suddenly directors and producers? It’s a fraud. It’s for money and for recognition. Many actors have their names in the credits as producers and executive producers/directors. It’s not real. It’s funny to me. You all probably think Tiffany Haddish writes comedy movies… You probably think Get Out is an amazing “horror” film.
@@mistadopeman not really, just so clear that the internet and modern day contracts has opened up the game to actors becoming directors in the long term. We are talking about an actor a decade in deep if not longer.
Happens in football all the time, players become managers in the UK.. is that fake?
L take bro
DUDE!! These 2 NEED to work together one day!
I absolutely agree that Ben’s acting propelled when he started directing, and directing himself especially. It’s a serious change that you see and it’s so cool to see how that introspection plays out for everyone else.
How cool for MBJ to have someone like Ben Affleck to reach out to him early in his career and offer to be there for him as he’s coming up. And to actually become a friend. That’s so amazing.
Yeah that fucking crazy! I would’ve been so juiced that I will go hyper drive in my passion
Michael is going to become a beloved director. Creed 3 was just so good, the last fight scene was so unique. I honestly didn’t see it coming.
Loves how ben talks about his wife and taking every opportunity to shower praises on her 🥹❤
I know! He loves her so much and is so proud of her 😊
I love these because with people like Affleck, you get to see that this man really loves movies and making them. And that is fucking awesome considering how long he has been in this business and what his career has been ( awesome), that he still loves it and is so excited by it. Fantastic stuff. Michael is just the man. Cannot wait to see what he goes on and does.
MB Jordan is so kind. Refreshing to see these two.
I clicked thinking these two were the people I had never seen together. Didn't know they were actually close! They have amazing chemistry and such a fun dynamic. You can tell they put care into their crafts and their conversation flows so well.
Absolutely love Ben's work as an actor & filmmaker, and always thought that he is a great person, with an incredibly kind & generous spirit. The fact that he remains so humble, never taking credit for his own accomplishments, but always so ready to champion others, speaks a lot about his character.
Yes I loved that about him to and so does his wife he so humble and so real and what you see is what you get with Ben he don’t have a agenda.
Same with Matt Damon. I think it helps that they had each other coming up in the industry
This is brilliant. The fact that they chose two actors-become-directors was clever, and a wonderful transition from the actors on actors format. Respect to both these gentlemen.
I loved this. Ben Affleck is one of my favorite directors and human beings!
As a creative, as well as a fan of art , this was so fun and exciting to watch. Their passion for the art of making movies is palpable and contagious. Amazing!
Directing while being he star has to be the hardest thing.. yet they’ve both made it look seamless
32:37 Damn ! I felt the power of this handshake through my screen! Incredible interview : respect, sharing and support. Love it !
I didn't want this discussion to end. My favourite Directors on Directors by a country mile!
Seeing Ben in a wonderful new light, enthusiastic and animated in his element. This is his niche.
The passion for filmmaking these men exude is infectious and would love to see them to work on a project
Nice to see this pair. They have a fundamental understanding of each other while acting and/or directing.
So happy for Ben Affleck! Air got 3 nominations for the Critics Choice Awards and 2 nominations for the Golden Globes: Best Picture and Best Actor for Matt Damon. Ben is a great director.
Also holds the record for youngest Person/ artist in history to win An Oscar for writing / screenplay… a record he will probably hold until the end of Time..Matt just happens to be a tiny bit older , so Ben holds the crown for Good Will Hunting at 25 lol ..No one’s touchin that shit
As a film lover, this is such an honest and open conversation between 2 guys , two different backgrounds talking openly about trailblazing, leadership as a director and professionalism. Really love both actors, love the convo.
Love seeing Ben this happy and animated.
This was awesome, so cool that Ben saw how talented Michael was and reached out is very cool. Ben gets a lot of hate, but he seems like a nice guy, and has a very unique career, and I'm glad he's giving other actors advice, like Michael said, it's invaluable to have someone like Ben to give you advice and support. Awesome interview.
I like how Affleck is expressive, he feels so genuine and by saying Michael is a great actor and director he means it. Many Hollywood actors are saying everything is great which to me feels forced but his doesnt
Two of my favourite ppl in Hollywood who I had no idea who so fond of each other and had such a beautiful relationship together.
Outstanding interview! Would love to see these two in a movie together
Best Variety Interview I have ever seen.
Ben is so underrated! Love his work on both sides of the camera! Best Batman ever!
Underrated ? Have you seen his career ? Lol. Forget the fact that he holds the Record for Youngest “Artist” in the history of ever to win an Oscar for writing / Screenplay. He’s gonna hold that till the end of time haha. What makes you think this man is underrated ? Dudes been in the game for over 3 decades… he was in 35 things before his directorial debut in 2007 for Gone baby gone … 35 titles before that lol, Forget that you piling Pearl Harbor on top of Armageddon on top of Good will hunting lol. Shiiiiit. He’s in so much shit before 2007, and then he has a good run .. piggybacks off gone baby gone and Directs and stars in The Town, 2010, piggybacks off that shit directs and stars in Argo 2012 , which he is so to speak acclaimed for the most ( as far as directing at that time ….Where does this underrated come in ? Lol .. in fact I think they used to label him the exact opposite 😮😂.. ? …
Ben Affleck has a new PHENOMENAL energy!
100% agreed.
I am in awe of Ben and Michael B. I had to watch this a few times as I had to pinch myself. Ben thank you for being you. Michael thank you for being you. Together this is magic.
This was possibly one of my favorite of all these talks so far. Any project that these two collaborate on I would watch in a heartbeat. They have so much apparent love, respect and reverence for one another’s work. Wonderful to watch. ❤
I loved it! Two talented men! Ben, your wife is really an inspiration, congratulations! 👏👏👏
One of the things I love about the pairings they make for these discussions is when you see that actors you never thought had any connection are friends or have reached about behind the scenes
loving the bromance and genuine respect of these to guys
You can tell how smart and empathetic and well-read these two are. Not speaking at each other, not just waiting to say their piece.
Instead, bouncing off each other and treating this as a true learning experience and a Q&A. All the smiling and laughing between them feels rare in Hollywood.
I love how much Ben glazes him and talks him up at the end, like damn.
Wonderful convo.
Ben Affleck is a great actor i love him as an actor and he is a great person.
I love these one on one interviews, both spectacularly successful actor/directors, and so respectful and appreciative of each other’s craft, another great show…!
So awesome listening to people talk about their passions ❤
I just can't get enough of Michael B Jordon. AND BEN JUST PUT THE ICEING ON THE CAKE ❤
This is a wonderful mash up. The way they vibed and championed for each other is so great. They seem to have a really good friendship.
They admire each other and that's just so cool!!!
I’m so inspired by the two of these guys. I needed this interview.
i think the biggest takeaway for me from this is that Ben and Michael have been talking in private long before this interview. I hope older actors and directors have been doing this type of reaching out to the next generation. Knowledge passed is priceless.
So nice of variety to bring them together, it was an interesting conversation indeed ^__^ they showered each other with appreciasion , its nice to see that nowadays
Love talks like this - between two people are passionate and talented in their craft, and have a mutual respect for each other.
Michael B Jordan has come a long way since 'The Wire' and 'Good Will Hunting' is one of my favourite films. Props to both men ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
two of my favorites... Michael's acting and Ben's directing are top-notch...quality stuff here!
I love interviews like this the comrade between the two guys the information that was shared the fact that Ben genuinely is proud of Michael and since Directing is something i’m doing and aspire to be really successful at interviews like this give me insights that I haven’t experienced yet and that’s valuable to me‼️ Thank you Variety, Ben & Michael 🤞🏾🤞🏾
They really are like brothers. Warms my heart
Great Conversation and I think Ben Affleck is very Underated as a Director
Love this - Ben and Michael are both such great inspirations!
Such a beautiful, beautiful dynamic between those two. Really warmed my heart.😭😭😭😭
Wow great Interview!!! Love that they are friends and work together Ben is so humble! Good Job guys!!
I enjoyed this one. Often, it's two people just trading compliments, which isn't that interesting. They talked about their craft, their evolution, working with people they know, aspirations and more. Mostly, it wasn't a PR campaign, they were genuine, no social agendas, or tearing down others, it was about their journey and getting better at their craft.
Great conservation ben seem like a brilliant man they both seem intelligent and brilliant.
cant wait to see jordan's future films! hope he does something with ben+matt's company, artists equity
Realest interview ever! keep it up Variety.
Great conversation, both of them have shown such skill as directors and they clearly admire each other. I hope Ben’s doing alright these days
Dudes skill is holding that Record for youngest writer to ever win An Oscar for writing / Screenplay. Prob Hold that till the end of time.
I still remember Michael from All my children. He was good than and he is amazing now
as a film maker in film school i have learned alot more about directing by watching this
I’ve watched Michael evolve through the different phases of his career and I’m so proud of how brave and intentional he has been about his choices. Inspiring.
Such a nice exchange to listen to!
Ben is comfortable. His voice gets restricted when stressed, but the vocal cords are elated. Good conversation
Simply amazing. MBJ and Ben Affleck are industry gold standards
Michael is the best actor of his generation. Pure genius. Every time I see him acting, I learn something new. He has something rare.
For all of his faults and by all accounts he has a lot ben seems like an awesome encouraging friend
I love this pairing I love Michael B, but I am also a fan of Ben's work.
They both talking from a director🎬 point of view it beautiful and they're both actors as well, niceness! 👍🏽
Thanks for this Variety 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️
This was fun. I like their dynamics. They would do well in a buddy cop movie. 😂
i really hope someone pitches this to them because i concur 😂

Michael B. Jordan 😮🎉❤ absolutely gorgeous and humble!!!!!!! ❤️😍❤️
The town is an exceptional film - Ben’s acting and directing and writing are all gold standard
Literally, dude holds the record for youngest artist in history to win an Oscar for writing / screenplay, will prob hold that till the end of time
Gosh… I love both of these men. As great actors and directors. Awesome conversation! 🔥🔥🔥
The interview i didnt know i needed🤩 i luv them both ❤ wish it was longer, also wish Ben wouldve talked more🥴
Variety is actually going overboard with the 1on1 interviews I can’t keep up 😭
Known each other for nearly 10 years…could not recall one photo or interaction of them together that’s craaazy
Michael B. Jordan is so good looking that he doesn't need to be a great actor, But he IS a great actor because he loves the craft. Ben Affleck could have rested on his laurels after his very first script, yet despite everything he's been through in his personal life, he's never stopped evolving as a creative. These are two incredibly admirable individuals, and two of my absolute favorite artists working today. I love these mfs
I really like that Ben can have an interview and be his true self without putting up a acting front like most actors when they do an interview. sometimes its hard to tell if actors are acting or being themselves during interviews.
The Town is hands down one of my favourite films
Two legends! I really enjoyed both their films this year Creed 3 and Air.
Batman and Killmonger.
What a great discussion! I love both of them. I could listen to them talk for hours.
You hear about celebrities having close relationships so it's cool to actually see the chemistry.
Two legends right here !
I remember growing up and watching Hardball and thinking he was SUCH a good actor in it... super underrated movie.
This is one of the best pairings so far
