    Great video! You took me from zero knowledge to dangerously incompetent in my confidence to attempt doing this :) I just discovered thanks to YT that the XBOX would be a great gamer machine. Finally did this myself, not gonna lie it certainly is a tad challenging soldering some of those points without disturbing the surroundings. Managed to get it though and I was very surprised when it actually worked. Using this as the main unit for a racing arcade cabinet. Mostly for daytona usa but also have every racing game the steering wheel supports also.

    One other thing if I may add; after completing the mod, after a short time every game I tried kept freezing! After researching why and testing for myself the solution, I had placed the resistor under the X Clamp which apparently produces a lot of noise in the wire. As annoying as it was to take it all apart again and re-routing the resistor wire away from the back of the processor, keeping it as close to the grounded areas and down to the bottom, along the edge where the copper surround is, IT FIXED THE FREEZING! YAY! 😀

I hope everyone who tries this has a great result. I will certainly give it a go when I find the time. Thank you! I just finished the mod this evening, and although I was really worried that I might have messed it up-especially after scratching the mainboard while using the tool-everything worked out in the end. If I can give some extra advice, it would be to ensure the clamp tool slots into the ends of the clamp and doesn't go fully underneath. I also put some insulation tape on the board to prevent further scratching.
    I bought a cheap USB microscope for £17, and it made a huge difference in accuracy. It allowed me to work the blade gently and precisely scrape away the top layer on the first connection. During the process, I accidentally desoldered the end of that closest small resistor, which was a pain to re-tin. The solder wouldn’t stick easily, and by the end of it, it looked pretty bad. At that point, I was convinced I'd ruined it, but the board turned out to be amazingly forgiving.
    When soldering the Pico’s wires, I encountered another issue-one pad just wouldn’t take any solder despite using flux. After properly cleaning it with isopropanol, I was able to get some fresh solder to stick. At one point, the pad turned black and looked burnt, and I thought I'd messed it up again. I ended up using a fiberglass pen to remove the black layer, and that finally worked.

Last but not least i am not sure if i missed it, but once i finished flashing the nand and i tested it and i validated the hack worked, i didnt know that the XBOX will continuously flash because the DVD drive is not connected (the xbox was partially disassembled still). Hey, is there any Details I Need to know about the iso-files? Because I have a lot of old iso-files downloaded 10 years ago, which work fine. But when I download other Roms now, they are not playable. When the iso is loaded the Xbox says “to play the disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console.” I also downloaded same game which I had already, with the old iso it works, with new iso it doesn’t work. The iso files itself looks similar.
    Any idea what the problem could be.?

    For newly added games, covers are no longer being downloaded. If I try to download the covers manually, it takes a long time, and then it says 'no covers found.' Same for old games.
    Downloading title updates also takes a very long time. In the download directory, it first says 'invalid device,' and then it switches to \xbox360\system\Hdd1 as it used to.

      An SSD might not be the best choice if you plan on using the console a lot. There are a few things to check. These are in the order I'm thinking of them rather than any priority order :)
      Have you identified the console correctly and wired it in the correct layout? Check the NAND chips as well to make sure you know if you've got 4GB or 16GB.
      Check the wiring at the Pico end as well.
      Have you got the power brick attached and powered on, but the console powered off? We need background power going to the motherboard.
      Can Jrunner see the PicoFlasher? Look for the icon in the Jrunner screen.
      Check your wiring for the modification. Make sure the solder connections are good.
      Not sure what else to try! If you've got a second Pico try that as well.

      It depends on what you've got lying around already. You need a soldering iron, solder and flux, wire and resistor, and a Raspberry Pi Pico. You should be able to pick this up for under £25. Interestingly in some videos while J-Runner is open when the Pico is connected to the PC the logo appears in J-Runner and when the Pico is disconnected from the PC the logo disappears but not in my case, I have to have the Pico connected to the PC then open J-Runner for the logo to show and when I disconnect the Pico the logo does not disappear which makes me think not all Pico's are created equal. I'm planning to do this to one of my 360's in the next few days, but I have a question about 360 games and most of the answers I've found online are very vague, it's almost as if people don't know or don't want to take the time to answer questions for someone who is hacking a 360 for the first time, or maybe is just me.
    My question is, why would you choose to download games on the ISO format if/when the same games are available in the Jtag/RGH format and the file sizes are usually smaller than the same games in ISO format?
    I downloaded a game on both formats, the ISO file was 7.29 GB and the Jtag/RGH was 605 MB, after extracting the ISO with 360mpGui the extracted files were the same size and the same files I got with the Jtag/RGH version, also the Jtag/RGH files are already extracted once is uncompressed so you don't have to extract them with 360mpGui.
    I know in some cases the difference between ISO and Jtag/RGH files is not so big, but still the Jtag/RGH files are always smaller and end up being the same files you get after extracting the ISO files.

      @BytesNBits  8 місяців тому

      On the console, you either have the extracted files from the ISO, or you have a GOD package. Having the ISO as the original file makes it easy to choose either.
      There are a lot of bad dumps out there, and most of the known good game files are available in ISO format. Extracting doesn't take long, and you can choose which format you want that way. Converting from GOD to extracted or vice versa is more complicated than just extracting the ISO or using ISO2GOD.

    wanna do this but i heard the xbox servers for 360 were deactivated will this affect it?. This seems like something I could do. just worry about the soldering but your guide is next level informative and sure I would have no problem following your guide. It's just the soldering. I would probably get a cheaper solderer. Not too cheap obviously. But um does it still works if so I will pick up an xbox and all the equipment you listed and give it a go. looks great. I just watched the whole thing nearly. Up to 1 hour 27 minutes and guessing the rest is just about copying games. Let me know if it's affected by the 360 servers being shutdown. So I heard.

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  4 місяці тому +1

      Don't worry about the Xbox servers. It just means you can't download games etc. You actually block the modded console from connecting to Microsoft anyway as their servers can detect the hack and block your account. The soldering will be fine. Just make sure you take your time and are gentle, especially when scraping back the solder mask. Make sure your soldering iron has a small tip. As long as it can melt the solder and you use flux it will work fine. Good luck.

    Hi, I have a broken Xbox 360 and I was wondering if hacking it could fix it. It's stuck on a black screen asking me to update (to 13146) but when I plug an USB key with the update files it doesn't update. Would hacking it help me bypass this error or it would brick further the already unusable console?

    • @BytesNBits

      The hack might help you update the system but it will depend on what's stopping it from working at the moment. Have you tried using different usb ports and different usb sticks. Make sure they are formatted in FAT32.

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  3 місяці тому

      You'll need to check what hack was used for the console. If you find a circuit board attached to your motherboard you'll need to de solder it and install the RGH 3 wires and go through the nand programming stage. If it's already an RGH3 mod make sure you can boot into Xell.
      If you want to wipe the hard drive make sure you first back up anything you need from it and then format the drive as shown in the video.
      Then follow the setup as per the video.
      Hope you get it going.

      I honestly don't know. The wires will give the processor a reset pulse at an exact time to launch the glitch hack, so probably you'll get into some sort of reset loop or the system may just crash. I probably wouldn't try it out though!
