- This I must say was some of the most fun I've had in my Mustang. Even though I was way outnumbered by the Audi Quatros and other cars, the fox still held its own and did amazing.

Seems like some cobra brakes, maximum motorsports suspension, 3:55 or 3:73 gears, and a little extra horsepower is in your future.
One small tip, driving hard on these scenic roads that are heavily used by cyclists, unless you can see all they way through the corner you can't really leverage the shoulder when choosing your line. If you have already entered a corner at a speed that requires the line to leverage the shoulder, and you have to suddenly exit the corner for a cyclist, you will probably crash. As a good rule of thumb, choose an entry speed that would allow the legal 3 foot clearance on a cyclist required. I know people are gonna comment dumb stuff about how cyclists lives don't matter or how they are roadkill or whatever but in all seriousness, regardless of how anyone feels about the cyclists, it's important for bikes and cars to be able to coexist on these roads without accidents so that law enforcement will continue to look away on roads like these and everyone can continue to enjoy them ina spirited manner, sorry for the long comment. I don't know how that guy with the blue Ford F-150 got his tailgate trim to shine like that but the easy way I did mine that turned out looking exactly the same. Get a t-shirt and a gallon of lacquer thinner wet the t-shirt and rub it on the trim. You do not have to bear down on it. It will take the paint off and it looks like you had it polished when you get done. I've done this to two different F-100 tailgate panels the last one about 4 years ago and it looks like I did it yesterday. That mountain road you where looks an awful lot like the road to the Mt. Palomar Observatory. A place I have been to once or twice when I was a kid. If you look close at the lic. plate on the blue Nissan. That's a California dealer plate so the guy most likely has money.

Next time your at the junk yard you can grab 94-04 rear brakes and they’ll swap to your foot disc setup, v6 or gt, they’re the same in the rear. For the front you’ll need the 94 up spindles.

The 9ld Foxbody did pretty good. And that's com8ng from someone who drives a modded AWD turbo Audi 6MT and who used to own an 87 Mustang GT 5MT.
That looked like a blast I'm not surprised that the fox got you home in one piece I've done many trips just like that in my mostly stockish foxbody mustang.

Yes! Absolutely make this a track car. Wide body fox body mustang done right are sick and pretty rare. I only see stock fox bodies or raggedy ones.

The Pro 5.0 shifter is a good option for a short shifter. Just put one in my Firebird a couple months ago.

Slowly dipping the toes into more road course/autocross. I warn, you it is incredibly addictive, but oh so much fun!

if you plan on doing any more canyon runs this is what I would do, 3:73 rear gear, better shock suspension setup wider tires michellin pilot sport 5's , more bigger brakes will help and a bit more HP would be good, maybe a small blower or small twin turbo setup and bigger injectors and a good tune could help with that. might want to work on the cooling system a bit maybe get a bigger trans cooler and a bit better radiator maybe something just a little bigger cooling capacity. and then see about getting some heatshield procucts for the fox and put those on couldn't hurt.

I own a Audi B5 S4 stg.3 all work done to it n my brother has a equal devil Audi B8.5 S4 n we have 2 foxbodys aswell , one a ‘88 fox Speed Density n the otha a ‘89 Mass Air Fox body both Black on Gray GT’s n love em to death for the cult classic nastolgia n beauty of em but agree jus diff era cars n will not keep up wit the VAG’s but we still love our Foxbody’s ❤❤❤❤❤

Hit up lkq and get you an SN95 rear. Throw some 3.55s in it and you'll have no problem keeping up with those guys in the canyons because you make enough torque in the lower power band
Upgrade to a 351 , trans cooler some suspension gymkana upgrades and your brakes.

what was bottoming out there ?? Do you have upgraded shocks , lower springs or anything ?? It ran it ok otherwise . l lm guessing tire n brake upgrades for canyon runs next time and short shiftier maybe alloy radiator ?? Just brain storming ideas while watching you drive :)

Get a square wheel setup with a good set of 200TW tires and a MM panhard bar and it’ll feel way better!
It's not about being in the front of the pack. It's how much fun you have in the back. The fact that you never really scooted the rear out was impressive too. Or you didn't show it.....hehe.

Some great brakes for your car ,check out Porterield Enterprises in Costa Mesa. I'm not a big fan of that type of racing. They did not write the song Dead man curve for nothing.
Michellin pilot aport 4S or cup 2's is qhat i track with. Stick as fxck. Also you really need some beastly cfm fans to stay running hard like that , but you already know this. More cooling is the name of the game for tracking othern then the obvious ( suspension )

I love your content, and your channel. I have owned 3 foxbodys and I still laugh at the video awhile back when you said that you think you could keep up with the coyotes. No chance in hell, trust me I know ,... Guarantee that you are barely pulling 250hp, probably well under that at the tire. I often got delusional in mine just because of the sound and 2nd gear torque. You should have definitely installed the twin turbo setup on your car, the thunderbird will never do it justice. Keep up the great videos brother!

Big brakes better tires as in not a drag race set up.. better seats a 3.55 or 3.73 rear gear with a locker would take your car far.. if it where mine id add in a good set of coil overs and a vortex super charger..

Yea this is a good way to heat soak your motor and find the weak points in your car...
Looks like you could use a lower thermostat, when your hill climbing you really don't want to see over 200F. I would suggest focuz on cooling... Buy a trans cooler.... A better all aluminum radiator and a lower temp thermo stat should get you a long way.... Most the time trans coolers are passively cooled. But if you hook a fan up it's really good when your not getting the spped to cool it

You’d barely be able to hold it in the road in that little fox. 6.0 or 5.3 cams and springs your prob knocking all over 400hp to the wheel if not more. Then if you wanted to add a turbo or supercharger you way over that if you wanted to!! JMHO

craig you make at least 400hp a stock 5.0 ho efi make 220-232hp theres absolutely zero chance youi make 300 with all the engine work that has anyway time for a cobra rear end and brake package and maybe a svt supercharger
but even with upgrades brakes you gotta learn some brake control you use your brakes way way to much
You are delusional if you think a stock 1990 5.0 efi makes 290, let alone 300. Big difference in wheel hp and flywheel. They were listed at 225hp flywheel from the factory. That puts under 200hp to the wheel. I have owned several, the torque is what makes people think they are more powerful than they are. Put it on a Dyno and you would be really disappointed.

Max Torque Output (dyno) 380 lb-ft @ 5,000 rpm obviously in a car and you gain 15 hp when your driving vs dyno so that 410hp and roughly 385tq so his problem is handling not hp
